There are many types of advocacy: for example, systems advocacy is useful for changing "the system" and used to promote causes. Legal advocacy is what lawyers are paid to do and legislative advocacy is designed to change laws. Individual advocacy involves advocating for another. Self-advocacy involves advocating for oneself.

Provides case management for clients with HIV disease and AIDS. The focus is on life care services, education, risk reduction and targeted prevention outreach to youth, women, gay men and AODA populations. United Way dollars help fund the coordination of health related services with other agencies as well as technical training for agencies. In addition, the HIT Squad is a program that provides a peer-to-peer model of training high-risk teens to educate other teens about the dangers of high-risk behaviors. Finally, the volunteer coordination program includes training and coordination of volunteers to meet needs of clients in collaboration with the faith community. Professional Development Opportunities K-12 teachers are invited to participate in the Earth Partnership for Schools graduate credit program series, which explores how the process of ecological restoration can be used as a broad context for teaching and learning. Lead Teachers participate in the program for two summers and earn 6 UW-Madison credits and a stipend. Associate Teachers participate for one summer and earn 3 credits and a stipend.
