It is not necessary to speak a Southeast Asian language to volunteer at Capi. We need volunteers in many capacities and roles. Some roles are humble, while others require a high degree of professionalism. But in both cases, our gratitude to volunteers is genuine and deep. Who should volunteer at the Centre for Asians and Pacific Islanders? Anyone with an interest in Southeast Asian culture and a respect for its people. Volunteers should be in good general health, be able to keep to the schedule they establish with their staff liaison, and agree to meet certain criteria mandated by our insurance carrier. What do volunteers get in return for volunteering at Capi?
  • The opportunity to meet and become friends with people from Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, Tibet, and many other Asian countries.
  • The chance to learn the language, culture, and customs of our newest Minnesotan neighbors.
  • The knowledge that you will a critical difference in the lives of refugees and immigrants and the agency which serves them.
  • Volunteer awards at our annual agency banquet and recognition in our newsletter.
