(VSAC) have launched an initiative to help Vermonters steer clear of degree scams and related types of higher education fraud. "Degree scams in which illegitimate businesses sell consumers fraudulent higher education credentials are not new," explained VSAC President Don Vickers. "What is new is that the Internet has made it a lot easier for con artists to reach consumers with their come-ons. Given the many legitimate distance-education options available, it's important to distinguish between programs that are valid and those that are not.
