( link New York City Board of Eduction Testimonial We have used the Yello Dyno Program in Community School District 20 for the past three years and are consistently satisfied with it. Their approach is entertainment driven and completely non-fearful. The easy to use materials and concepts along with the teacher/parent workshops and children's assemblies about child abuse prevention, give us the tools and the knowledge to help our staff educate our students about personal safety as well as reinforce this information for life long retention. We would highly recommend the Yello Dyno Program to any school who is looking for a proactive plan to protect their children from people meaning them harm. Age Information
Infants
  • Use rear-facing safety seats for all infants up to one year old and at least 20 pounds. Only rear-facing seats provide the necessary head and spinal support infants need. A car bed should be used for babies born earlier than 37 weeks who weigh less than 5 1/2 pounds and might have breathing problems. The head of the seat should be facing the middle of the car. Always place rear-facing seats in the back seat fastened with the safety belt. Never , place a rear-facing seat in front of an airbag. Make sure child is securely belted into the safety seat and that harnesses fit properly. Shoulder straps must be at or below the child's shoulders and must be snug. Make sure the child fits in the seat . If using a convertible seat for a newborn, choose one without a shield. Car seat should be at a 45 degree angle to keep babies head from flopping forward. Fill empty space in seat by placing rolled up blankets on the sides of your baby.

Preschool Safety Spring Flooding
Spring Flooding
Mar. 21 2001
During springtime, flooding, thin ice and rushing waters can lead to tragedy. But there are ways to keep kids safe from spring water runoff and rains.
Every year we hear of someone who has drowned in the rushing waters of a creek or river, and often that someone is a child. In the spring, with extra rain and melting snow, rivers and creeks can be particularly hazardous. Even neighborhood creeks that 98% of the time may seem relatively safe, can suddenly turn treacherous.
As parents we must warn our children about these creeks and rivers. Because for most of the year they appear to be pretty benign, kids may think they're safe and something they don't have to ever worry about. Unfortunately, for maybe two or three days of the year, heavy rainstorms or melting snow can cause them to flood quickly, creating a dangerous flash flood situation. It's for this reason that Marine Safety Officer with the RCMP, Ken Burton, says spring can pose some hazardous circumstances. "Moving water presents a very dangerous situation. One cubic foot of water weighs 62 pounds. When it's moving, it presents a lot of force. My best advice is to stay clear of it, stay well back of it."
Simply standing on the bank watching the rushing currents can be risky as the banks of creeks and rivers can be undercut by the water and give in under the weight of the child, explains Burton. "There's always a chance of a bank collapsing so stay back from it. View it from a safe distance, or wait for the news that night and view it from the safety of your living room."

Cuddle House Academy, Affordable Monthly Preschool Curriculum Program is pleased to provide you with timely articles that will help you succeed in your business. Safety in Child Care “Safety is our Number One Priority” you tell parents. And yet, what does it truly mean to be safe, to provide a safe environment to keep your children out of harms way? We’ve all looked at the safety rules clearly spelled out in our state’s licensing requirements. Some are more explicit than others. We know, for example, that we must cover all our outlets, have a fire extinguisher nearby, first aid kit, and safety gate at all stairways, and maintain a working smoke detectors and telephones. We also know that some things can be dangerous such as loose or broken furniture, rugs that slip and slide or unprotected stoves or heaters. But that’s the easy part. Even with the most diligent vigil, children still manage to get hurt. Many times this happens when our backs are turned, but often it happens right in front of us. Toddlers just learning to walk and very young children require additional supervision. Additionally, some activities can be more dangerous than others such as play at a water table, wood working, or art. An awareness of safety needs to permeate the entire program and should start long before the first child arrives or the last child departs. Providers or teachers who have become accredited or work in accredited centers are keenly aware of the many safety issues that are faced daily in a child care setting.
