PALESTINE:
History, Case and Solution
The "Palestinian Question" has been the focus of media attention, on and off, for the past 47 years. By signing a mutual agreement, arresting activists, portraying the situation as 'solved', and pushing the events and conditions of the Palestinian people to the back page, the world Governments and media thought they could make us forget the sufferings of our people, the usurption of our land, and the injustice of non Believers. The history books have always depicted the Ottomans as womanisers, and Palestinians as terrorists. The accurate history of the Paletininian situation is now revealed in Nida'ul Islam's special report.
HISTORY
The Islamic success The first to liberate Palestine through the holy house was the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w). This was on the night of the night Journey (Isra`) and ascension (mi'raj) when he (s.a.w) led the prayer of all the prophets in the Farthest Mosque (Almasjid AlAqsa). The first military expedition to liberate the land of Damascus was the army which was prepared by the Prophet (s.a.w) under the leadership of Usama Bin Zayd (r.a.a) as was the one sent by Abu Bakr AlSiddiq (r.a.a.) after the death of the Prophet (s.a.w). However, this army returned to support the Khalifa in the battle of the apostates after it had reached the borders of East Jordan and achieved victory there.

    Palestine: History
    Ancient Palestine
The earliest known inhabitants of Palestine were of the same group as the Neanderthal inhabitants of Europe. By the 4th millennium b.c. Palestine was inhabited by herders and farmers. It was in the 3d millennium that most of the towns known in historical times came into existence. They became centers of trade for Egyptian and Babylonian goods. During the 2d millennium, Palestine was ruled by the Hyksos and by the Egyptians. Toward the end of this period Moses led the Hebrew people (see Jews ) out of Egypt, across the Sinai, and into Palestine. Around 1200 b.c. Philistia ). The Hebrews were subject to the Philistines until c.1000 b.c. , when an independent Hebrew kingdom was established under Saul , who was succeeded by David and then by Solomon . After the expansionist reign of Solomon (c.950 b.c. ), the kingdom broke up into two states, Israel, with its capital at Samaria, and Judah, under the house of David, with its capital at Jerusalem. The two kingdoms were later conquered by expanding Mesopotamian states, Israel by Assyria (c.720

Some archeologists believe that they have found human remains in parts of what was to become Palestine that date back to 600,000 B.C. There is also extensive archeological evidence that shows that settled agricultural communities were established in different parts of Palestine as early as 10,000 B.C. Copper and stone tools as well as other artifacts have been found near Jericho, the Dead Sea and Bi'r As-Sabi' that date back to about 5,000 to 4,000 B.C.

    Decline Started in 1882
The heyday of Palestine was before the year 1882 when the Nickel Plate railroad went through south of the village a mile or so and the town of Burket came into existence. The early 80's marked the beginning of the decline of the village as a trading center. In the early 90's some of the frame store buildings were still standing on the west side of the main street. They have long since disappeared and for years only one store has been located there and it is on the east side of the street. During the 60's and 70's the village was a live place where there were grocery stores, drug stores, a saloon, a blacksmith shop, a doctor's office and a postoffice. During these days means of communication and travel were quite primitive so that a trip into Palestine on horseback or in the buggy took as much time as a trip would now take if the part went to the county seat.

    Thriving Village in 1870's
It would be interesting to talk to an oldtimer who as a boy played on the main streets of Palestine during the 70's. At that time Ezra Uplinger had a general merchandise store there and sold liquors. The selling of wines and spirituous liquors in general stores was then common over the county. Adam Horn had a drug and grocery store. These were the days of real drug stores when a doctor could find there such medicines as he needed. Henderson and Ward were running the grist mill at this time. J. W. Heffley and F. M. Pearman were two local physicians. These were subject to a hard life during the winter months. Many a person in need of immediate medical attention was forced to wait until some member of the family could ride into town for the doctor.

    (1) Under Overview "Palestine is the ancient name ..." implying there was a Palestinian people. The Romans, after destroying the Jewish rebellion around the 2nd century CE, renamed their province of Judea to Palestine to humiliate the Jews. Prior to that the name was never Palestine and their were no Palestinians. After that time, the word Palestinian was used to refer to Jews not Arabs. Some ancient names were Judea, Samaria, Israel and from the hebrew bible Canaan.
For the 1,400 year period from about 1,200 BCE to about the 2nd century, the land was Jewish. Though there were a variety of conquering and ruling powers, including the Assyrians, Babylonians and Romans, the people that lived there were Jews, just like the people that lived in Greece were Greeks.
Since that time, Israel was mostly a wasteland sparcely populated with Jews, Arabs, Bedouins, Christians and other peoples. There has been a continuous Jewish presence in Israel, in spite of persecution, massacres and prevention of immigration, by various overlords including Romans, Arabs, Mongols, Crusaders, Marmelukes, Ottomans and British.

    Historical overview
The term Palestine originates with the Philistines , who inhabited the southern coast of the region in biblical times. It fell into disuse with the disappearance of the Philistines c. 1000 B.C., but was reintroduced by the Romans following the Second Jewish Revolt ("Great Revolt") of Bar Kokhba of A.D in the province of Judea . Historically, there was a clear distinction between Philistine and Judean territories; however, the Romans adopted the name for the province in an effort to erase any memories of the Judean rebels they defeated. Similarly, Jerusalem , Palestine's historic capital, was renamed Aelia Capitolina For nineteen hundred years afterwards, the region was subject to successive waves of invaders, each of which left some mark on its people and landscape. This can be attributed to Palestine's strategic location at the crossroads of

What was the history of Palestine between Biblical times and the modern era?
    Destruction of the Jewish Temple
70AD (by Roberts) In 539 B.C. the Persians conquered the Babylonians. The Jewish Temple, destroyed by the Babylonians, was rebuilt (516 BC). Under Persian rule the Jewish state enjoyed considerable autonomy. Alexander the Great of Macedon, conquered the area in 333 BC His successors, the Ptolemies and Seleucids, contested for control. The attempt of the Seleucid Antiochus IV (Antiochus Epiphanes) to impose Hellenism brought a Jewish revolt under the Maccabees, who set up a new Jewish state in 142 BC The state lasted until 63 BC, when Pompey conquered the region for Rome. At the time of Christ the Jewish state was ruled by puppet kings of the Romans, the Herods. When the Jews revolted in 66 AD, the Romans destroyed the Temple in Jerusalem (70 AD). The Bar Kokba revolt between 132 and 135 AD was also suppressed, Jericho and Bethlehem were destroyed, and the Jews were barred from Jerusalem. The Roman Emperor Hadrian determined to wipe out the identity of Israel-Judah-Judea. Therefore, he took the name

The Israel-PLO Declaration of Principles on Interim Self-Government Arrangements (the DOP), signed in Washington on 13 September 1993, provided for a transitional period not exceeding five years of Palestinian interim self-government in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
Under the DOP, Israel agreed to transfer certain powers and responsibilities to the Palestinian Authority, which includes the Palestinian Legislative Council elected in January 1996, as part of the interim self-governing arrangements in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. A transfer of powers and responsibilities for the Gaza Strip and Jericho took place pursuant to the Israel-PLO 4 May 1994 Cairo Agreement on the Gaza Strip and the Jericho Area and in additional areas of the West Bank pursuant to the Israel-PLO 28 September 1995 Interim Agreement, the Israel-PLO 15 January 1997 Protocol Concerning Redeployment in Hebron, the Israel-PLO 23 October 1998 Wye River Memorandum, and the 4 September 1999 Sharm el-Sheikh Agreement.
The DOP provides that Israel will retain responsibility during the transitional period for external security and for internal security and public order of settlements and Israeli citizens. Permanent status is to be determined through direct negotiations, which resumed in September 1999 after a three-year hiatus. An intifadah broke out in September 2000; the resulting widespread violence in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, Israel's military response, and instability in the Palestinian Authority are undermining progress toward a permanent settlement.
