http://mariaeverding.com/programs.html
Programs Pretty As A Picture Maria Everding saw the need for a program where young ladies could develop poise and confidence during their formative years. Parents believe teaching manners is an integral part of parenting. However, the influence of another voice often conveys the common courtesies that parents try to teach their daughters at home. Young ladies are more receptive to guidance from a friend/confidante/teacher than from a parent. In September 1982, the first session was offered at Saks Fifth Avenue in Saint Louis, Missouri. There were 37 students in three classes. One year later, there were 210 students in seven classes. Since that time, more than 50 women have been trained and certified by Maria Everding (see Agent Listing below) to teach the Pretty As A Picture course. The Pretty As Picture program has reached nationwide prominence. Other Programs Developed by Maria Everding Just For Teens This course fills the needs and wants of teenagers. By learning to blend contemporary manners with traditional etiquette, teens are at ease with adults, with their peers and most importantly, with themselves. Manners For Young Men There comes a time in every young man's life when he is expected to know what to say and how to act in all social situations.

Good manners are important to a child's social success, but no child is born with good manners. Beyond teaching "Please" and "Thank You" many parents aren't sure how to teach a child good manners. When teaching manners, keep the following in mind:
Teach, Don't Reprimand Instead of saying, "Don't be so rude!" One could say, "It's not polite to belch at the table, but if you do, say 'Excuse me.'" Rephrase If the child says, "Yuck! I hate this green stuff!" Politely correct by saying, "What I'd like to hear you say is, "I don't care for spinach." Correct Privately Do your best to resist the urge to reprimand in front of others. Correction is more effective when you do not make a scene.

Tayyiba Publishers Newsletter is designed to inform and educate Mu'mineen on Islamic subjects as well as provide information on useful books for adults and children Gems from the Qur'an Do you not see how Allah sets forth a parable of a good word (being) like a good tree, whose root is firm and whose branches are in heaven. Yielding its fruit in every season, by the permission of its Lord? And Allah sets forth parables for people that they may be mindful
The words uttered by the human tongue have a great impact, on the life of the speaker as well as the lives of those it reaches. Words can comfort and console, but can also hurt and sadden. The ability to affect with the spoken word is the most potent tool of the human being. Using it wisely, he can achieve great results. He can win hearts and gain the respect and affection of others. A hadith of Imam Ali (a) says: Nothing attracts the heart of a human as much as the (good) tongue.
Islam wishes its followers to use the power of speech to achieve goodness, to spread love and happiness, wisdom and guidance. The beautiful simile in the ayat above compares a good word to a fruitful tree. Just as a good tree is rooted firmly under the earth, a good word is also rooted in faith and the desire to serve and help others. The good it creates rises high above the surface of the speech, and its effects are continuous. The fruits of a good word are the encouragement, the boost in morale, the lifting of spirits, the warmth and the happiness that it creates. These continue long after the words are spoken.

Age Group: 5-7 years old. Students will spend a total of two years in this level. This level will be broken up into Mastery Level 1 A and Mastery Level 1 B Clothing Requirement: Boys will wear a white kufi or topi. Girls will wear a white hijab. An even more standard uniform is important and you may want to institute a wider dress code for the weekend school which has different color schemes for each level. This approach presents a sense of unity, it highlights for the students that they will be progressing through mastery levels, it cuts down on the distraction of students arriving in very unIslamic clothing every weekend and it provides a sense of equality among peers in each mastery level. Mastery Focus: Identity, behavior, etiquette, classroom manners and Islamic Adab. Methodology: The class will be divided into four segments of 30 minutes each with a 15 minute bathroom/water/snack break after the first two segments. The first segment will focus on training the students in motor skills and Islamic Adab and having them practice those skills. Islamic phrases will be learned. Mastery Level 1 B will focus on learning Salah in a basic way.

    Introduction
What is professional etiquette? Essentially, it is the art of common courtesy. A dining environment can sometimes be harsh, and the use of good manners tends to soften the edges. Manners today are in a state of flux. You cannot rely on the rules that worked twenty or even ten years ago. Formal, rigid rules of the past no longer apply to the casual, liberated lifestyles of today. There is one thing that hasn't changed—your actions and behavior will be observed by the people who will play an important part in determining your future career opportunities. If you are striving for a higher level position, it is crucial that the image you portray is that of a poised, self-confident, successful individual. A large part of building a professional image is developing the skills to handle colleagues, clients, and superiors with tact and style. Professional etiquette can also be important in your daily life, such as on a date, dinner with a business client, or a fancy dinner with relatives. Following the presented rules and common courtesies will help you familiarize yourself with the practices and knowledge of dining etiquette.

(CBS) "Sit up straight", "say please", "share your toys," these are just a few of the many manners parents try to teach their children with varying degrees of success.
In the new book "The Gift Of Good Manners", etiquette expert Peggy Post offers up some suggestions on how to make the learning process a little easier for both parents and children. She visits The Early Show to talk about it.
Read an excerpt from Chapter One: Building the Foundations At some point usually between six and twelve weeks your baby will look at you and smile. As days and weeks go by, she will learn to greet you with expressions of both recognition and pleasure. These are among her earliest forays into the parent-child relationship. She is learning to trust you and to depend on your presence in her life. As she wakes to the world, her trust in you forms the bedrock for all her experiences to come. Over her first twelve months, your baby will acquire an astonishing array of physical and mental skills, progressing from an almost totally reactive being who responds instinctively to physical stimuli (an empty tummy, a wet diaper, a sudden noise) to one who makes deliberate choices. She will begin to master her body and start to manipulate her environment grasping objects she wants, for example. She will learn to distinguish her primary caregivers and cling to them. Around five or six months, she will become delightfully sociable. She will begin to sense herself as a separate being and learn to recognize her name. She will be driven to explore by her limitless curiosity. From birth to twelve months, a baby is an incredibly busy little person.

Two boys come in quietly and shake hands with the blonde lady, who glides toward them with a straight back and warm smile. "Spencer won't get out of the car," one of them yells. Someone goes back for him, and he shuffles in, looking at the floor. The eight children - a group of cousins, ages 6-15 - take off their shoes and sit on facing sofas in the elegant living room. Classical music plays softly in the background. They're here for one of King's Final Touch Finishing School classes on etiquette, a skill one of their mothers calls "a lost art." Today and tomorrow they'll practice introductions, handshakes, posture, grooming and telephone use. The third day will be a a three-course luncheon to teach dining etiquette. "Do you know why big burly football players love this class?" King asks the reluctant boys. "To get dates and keep getting dates," she says, with a twinkle in her eye.
