Originally produced in 1999 at the DISK Theatre at Prague’s Theatre Academy, the play was awarded the Alfred Radok Prize in 1996 for best original Czech play. One of only a few Czech women playwrights to have come of age after the Velvet Revolution (1989), Marketa Blahova writes about dysfunctional families in the new Czech democracy. PERFORMING ARTS With a fondness for humor and drama, Jamaica has a long and rich heritage of theatre. Islandwide, productions are always playing to full houses. In fact, Jamaica boasts the oldest theatrical company in the Caribbean, the Little Theatre Movement (LTM).
It should also come as little surprise that with our infectious music, there are several dance companies. Foremost among them is the National Dance Theatre Company of Jamaica (NDTC). And if you miss the NDTC, be sure to catch the Jamaica Folk Singers, the National Chorale, or the University Singers.
Founded in 1962 as an outgrowth of Jamaica's independence, the internationally acclaimed National Dance Theatre Company (NDTC) is comprised of dancers, singers and musicians. It vividly embodies the rich tapestry of expression that draws its inspiration from the island's diverse ethnic influence. The NDTC has wowed audiences from Mexico City to Moscow, Adelaide to Atlanta, and points in between. Their style incorporates eclectic dance forms ranging from the indigenous to classical to modern and uniquely Caribbean. The esteem with which the company is held internationally is in no small measure due to its founder, artistic director and principal choreographer, the Honorable Rex Nettleford, O.D., one of Jamaica's great intellects and creative talents.

Who's your favorite Beatle? With the book The Beatles Anthology hitting number one on the best-seller list and sales of the band's album 1 making The Beatles the highest grossing pop band of 2000, that question is as pertinent as ever.
If you ask Excite.com, the most beloved Beatle is John, with 13,422,425 websites devoted to or mentioning him. George is second with 5,215,061 sites, and Paul comes in third with 4,707,969 "cute one" Web shrines. Only 254,870 webpages honor forever-underrated Ringo.
For a small taste of some of the wackier or more interesting URLs, check out:
John Lennon's FBI files at www.lennonfbifiles.com Learn exactly why Nixon and the Hooverites viewed him as a threat to national security.
Paul McCartney death sites, including www.angelfire.com/ct/scrmgdasys/index.html and catless.ncl.ac.uk/obituary/paul.html . These pages build arguments for an X-Files-esque conspiracy to cover up Sir Paul's rumored death.

Janelle Sagmiller Native American Education December 5, 2002 Curriculum Paper Early in my life, I was told how important it was that I participate in my Salish and Kootenai cultures. Growing up, I can remember root digging ceremonies, prayer tree offerings, powwows, learning to cook fry bread and the sweat lodge ceremonies. My Salish and Kootenai cultures permeated my life so much, that the underlying assumption that one day I would find a Salish and Kootenai man to marry never was an issue, until one day. The day I realized I had been taking my cultural heritage for granted, was the day I was talking to some fellow native students at the summer institute INMED (Indians into Medicine) about marriage. To talk of marriage at the age of 14, is for some is nothing but a glimmer of the future, a faint whisper in the wind: however, my friends talking at that time were dead serious in their future marriage prospects. My male and female comrades hushed in grave voices, declared whether or not they could marry for love. Starlight, my girlfriend next to me, gravely voiced that she could not marry for love, but would have to marry for the tribe. On my other side, my friend Casey explained the luxury he would have for marrying for love. Starlight was in a precarious spot because to be a member of the Blackfeet tribe, so much Blackfeet blood was required, and she did not have enough for her offspring to become enrolled members- if she chose to marry outside of her tribe. Casey, on the other hand had enough blood for his offspring to still be Ute enrolled should he choose to marry outside of his tribe.
