The breadth of our general experience has enabled us to provide significant contributions to defence teams in a number of criminal cases.
  • We acted as accounting experts in the successful defence of a director in a well publicised case involving alleged misappropriation of monies from pension funds. Our work involved extracting data from a warehouse full of evidential documents and the completion of over twenty separate research papers to assist Counsel.
  • We prepared an expert report, which was influential in the acquittal of an accountant, who was facing ten charges of false accounting under the Theft Act in connection with the transfer of funds to an overseas subsidiary of a listed group.
  • While acting as the accounting expert and principal prosecution witness for the Serious Fraud Office in their investigation and prosecution of a director of an investment company for a £130 million securities fraud, we reconstructed the group's structure and accounting records to determine when it became insolvent. This involved analysing over 9,000 transactions totalling £10 billion. We also investigated the Defendant's spending patterns and determined that he had tax liabilities in excess of £40 million.
  • We assisted in the successful defence of a director alleged to have dealt following receipt of inside information.

COMPUTER CRIME INVESTIGATIONS This course is designed to train municipal, county, state and federal law enforcement investigators in the latest techniques of modern computer crime investigation. Since investigators are now faced with the challenge of keeping up with technology that changes every 60 days, this course will teach students how to effectively investigate crimes of this nature. During the “hands-on” portion of the course, students will become part of an investigative team and will learn how to effectively prepare search warrant documents leading to the seizure of a suspect's computer and related media in both residential and business settings. In addition, participants will learn how to properly image and thoroughly examine a PC and related media for evidence relating to a criminal offense and how to present this evidence for prosecution.

Criminal Profiling: An Introduction to Behavioral Evidence Analysis by Brent E. Turvey, Diana Tamlyn (Contributor), W. Jerry Chisum (Contributor) (June 1, 1999)
"Criminal Profiling: An Introduction to Behavioral Evidence Analysis" is a unique work centered on the deductive profiling method developed by the author. Deductive profiling is different from other forms of profiling because it centers the process on forensic evidence, and does not involve the use of averaged, statistical profiles. It approaches each criminal incident as its own universe of behaviors and relationships. Criminal Profiling includes a thorough rendering of the features of the deductive profiling method, an overview of the legal aspects involved in profiling, and an exploration into specific profiling issues that arise in different types of serial crime. It also includes the author's unique analysis of the Whitechapel murders of 1888 and the JonBenet Ramsey case. This book is an indispensable resource for students and professionals in the law enforcement, mental health, criminological, and legal communities.

In forensics there is often a difficulty conveying critical scientific terms to non-scientists such as investigators, attorneys, juries, and even court reporters. This glossary of words and their meanings covers important areas of forensic science, including chemistry and toxicology pertinent to forensics, ballistics, and DNA analysis. 950 words have been compiled thus far but the author has agreed to have the manuscript reviewed for gaps and will expand where necessary.
Forensic Science: An Introduction To Criminalistics
by Peter Deforest, Peter R. De Forest, Robert E. Gaensslen (Contributor) (April 1, 1983)
This book is a basic textbook for use in college and university forensic science courses at the introductory level in which little or no prior knowledge of science has been assumed. Most of the book is devoted to a careful exploration of the importance of physical evidence and this new edition includes a chapter on DNA.

    40. Forensic Sciences & Forensics: Science In Law: The Search For Evidence By Expert
Why is Forensic Science important? analysis of forensic evidence is used inthe investigation and prosecution of civil and criminal proceedings.
    http://www.legallanguage.com/forensic/ForensicScience.html
legal experts in search of evidence, expert witnesses, certified tape transcripts, etc. What is Forensic Science?
Forensic science is the use of science in the service of the law. Sciences used in forensics include any discipline that can aid in the collection, preservation and analysis of evidence such as chemistry (for the identification of explosives), engineering (for examination of structural design) or biology (for DNA identification or matching). A forensic scientist is expert in any technical field and can provide an analysis of the evidence, witness testimony on examination results, technical support and even training in his or her specialized area. Why is Forensic Science important?
Analysis of forensic evidence is used in the investigation and prosecution of civil and criminal proceedings. Often, it can help to establish the guilt or innocence of possible suspects. Forensic evidence is also used to link crimes that are thought to be related to one another. For example, DNA evidence can link one offender to several different crimes or crime scenes (or exonerate the accused). Linking crimes helps law enforcement authorities to narrow the range of possible suspects and to establish patterns of for crimes, which are useful in identifying and prosecuting suspects.
