We are particularly interested in the topic of nonstatistical dynamics, i.e. behavior of molecules that could not be predicted by Transition State Theory (TST). There has been considerable recent attention paid to non-TST behavior during enzyme-catalyzed reactions. Since the control of polymer composition, architecture, stereochemistry, and molecular weight allows the indirect control of properties via morphology, the research focus of our group is the development of new synthetic strategies for producing polymers of defined structure. One major research thrust is development of catalysts for the synthesis of biomedically relevant polymeric materials from renewable resources.
