67. A Short History Of Nicaraguan Baseball
The first team with a (more or less) continuous history was founded by the Garcia, who should probably be considered the father of olympic baseball in Nicaragua
http://www.nicanews.com.ni/nn12/bball.html
The Fordham University team of 1891, where Nicaraguan baseball pioneer David Arellano learned to coach a team. A Short History of Nicaraguan Baseball Story by Tito Rondon. Originally published in Nica News 12 (March 1998) This starts off like a good trivia question, because the truth of it is that Nicaraguan baseball was first played outside Nicaragua. Before the turn of the last century, the Nicaraguan Atlantic Coast was occupied by the British, and cricket - not baseball - was the most popular sport. Albert Addlesberg, an American businessman living in Bluefields in the 1880s, became miffed with the local sports authorities and convinced two of the most popular cricket clubs to switch to baseball. He imported the necessary equipment from New Orleans. Two baseball teams, "Southern" and "Four Roses" were created in 1887 and the first games were played the following year. Baseball has been played on the Miskito Coast almost continuously since that time, but the Atlantic Coast has long since been incorporated into the Republic of Nicaragua. The first "official" games in Nicaragua were played in the new capital of Managua in July of 1891 between Managua and Granada.

Potpourri (A Little of Everything) Rob Doster
I like Charles Barkley, and I’ve defended him in the past against those who would label him a self-promoting, egotistical loudmouth. But Sir Charles should limit his diatribes to topics he actually knows something about. The notion that modifications to Augusta National are a racist plot to stymie Tiger Woods is so laughable, it doesn’t bear discussion.
You gotta love Seve Ballesteros. Seve hasn’t won a tournament of any kind since 1995, and his last major championship came in 1988 at the British Open. His notorious wildness off the tee spiraled out of control during the 1990s, and his career as a competitive golfer gave way to his role as elder statesman and figurehead for the European Ryder Cup team. But Seve still thinks he has a little magic left. "I think I can win The Masters," he said. "You may sound surprised, but I am very confident this year. I have a very good feeling in myself. I am capable of winning. I'm talking very serious." Of course, during the same interview, Ballesteros all but said that Sergio Garcia (three PGA wins) was better than Tiger Woods (29 PGA wins). Maybe Seve was just having a senior moment.
Could 2002 be the year of the Grand Slam? There’s a player with the game to do it, and it ain’t Tiger I’m talking about. Annika Sorenstam has won 14 tournaments in the last two years, more than any player on any tour, and she’s trained her laser-beam focus on the majors this year. A Slam is not out of the question.
