    Thomas Wyatt, the son of Thomas Wyatt, the poet, was born in around 1520. A soldier, he fought under Henry Howard at the Siege of Landrecies in 1544. During the final illness of Edward VI , Lady Jane Grey was married to Guildford Dudley, fourth son of John Dudley , Earl of Warwick, as part of the scheme to make sure of a Protestant succession. Jane Grey was declared queen three days after Edward's death. However, she was forced to abdicate nine days later in favour of Edward's sister, Mary Tudor In 1554 Thomas Wyatt and Henry Grey led a rebellion against Mary. After failing to capture Ludgate, Wyatt was arrested. As a result of this rebellion Thomas Wyatt

    http://www.exclassics.org/newgate/ng646.htm
    THOMAS WHITE AND WALTER WYATT Two Thieves, who were the First Criminals to be executed at Oxford ONE of the unfortunate sufferers on this melancholy occasion was Thomas White, a daring robber, who had the temerity to break into Blenheim House, the magnificent seat of the Duke of Marlborough, built by order of Queen Anne as a mark of favour to her Generalissimo, the conqueror of Louis XIV. of France, and he who dictated the terms of peace before the gates of Paris. White forcibly entered this strong range of buildings, and stole thereout silver plate to the value of more than five hundred pounds, with which he got off to London, where he sold it to a Jew in Houndsditch, who immediately melted it down. Of this robbery he was convicted, and sentenced to die. The other malefactor was Walter Wyatt, a clerk to the postmaster of Witney, who had been entrusted with the sorting of letters, and the other business of the office. In this capacity he stole letters containing bank-notes and bills to a considerable amount, for which robbery and breach of trust he was thus deservedly condemned. A gallows and platform having been prepared within the walls of the castle, at twelve o'clock precisely the fatal procession began viz. six sheriff officers, armed with javelins, two and two; the executioner and sword; the two malefactors, pinioned, with white caps on their heads, between the turnkeys, armed; Redditch, a condemned criminal, but reprieved, guarded by two constables. The remainder of the felons, two and two, guarded to the place appointed for them, near the gallows, where they were compelled to be spectators of the horrible scene.

    The Life of Sir Thomas Wyatt (1503-1542)
    Thomas Wyatt was born at Allington Castle , near Maidstone, in Kent, in 1503, son of Henry and Anne. His first court appearance was as Sewer Extraordinary to Henry VIII in 1516, in which year he also entered St. John's College, University of Cambridge . In 1520 (?) he married Elizabeth Brooke (daughter of Lord Cobham); she bore him a son, Thomas, in 1521. In 1524 he was engaged by King Henry VIII to fulfill various offices at home and abroad. Around 1525, Wyatt separated from his wife, charging her with adultery; it is also the year from which his interest in Anne Boleyn probably dates. He accompanied Sir Thomas Cheney on a diplomatic mission to France in 1526 and, the following year, accompanied Sir John Russell to the papal court in Rome, and to Venice. He was made High Marshal of Calais (1528-1530) and Commissioner of the Peace of Essex (1532), accompanying Henry and Anne Boleyn (now the king's mistress) to Calais later the same year. In January 1533 Anne Boleyn married Henry; Wyatt served in her coronation in June. Wyatt was knighted in 1535, but in 1536 he was imprisoned in the Tower for quarreling with the Duke of Suffolk, and possibly also because he was suspected of being one of Anne Boleyn's lovers. During this imprisonment Wyatt witnessed the execution of Anne Boleyn on May 19, 1536 from the

    "Caesar, when that the traitor of Egypt"
    Caesar, when that the traitor of Egypt,
    With th'honorable head did him present,
    Covering his gladness, did represent
    Plaint with his tears outward, as it is writ;
    And Hanniball, eke, when fortune him shit
    Clean from his reign, and from all his intent
    Laughed to his folk whom sorrow did torment,
    His cruel despite for to disgorge and quit.
    So chanceth it oft that every passion
    The mind hideth by colour contrary
    With feigned visage, now sad, now merry;
    Whereby if I laughed any time or season,
    It is for because I have n'other way
    To cloak my care but under sport and play.
