Andrei Codrescu, National Public Radio One of the most vibrant writers of the post-Beat generation, Anne Waldman has an international reputation as a performer of electric intensity. She has read extensively with writers such as Gary Snyder, William S. Burroughs, Jim Carroll, and Diane di Prima. Also a prolific collaborator outside the literary world, she has worked with visual artists Elizabeth Murray, Susan Rothenberg, and George Schneeman, musician-composers Steven Taylor and Donald Cherry, and dancers Douglas Dunn and Yoshiko Chuma, among others. Longtime director of the Poetry Project at St. Mark's Church In-the-Bowery in New York, Waldman foundedwith Allen Ginsbergthe Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at the Naropa Institute.She has published more than 30 books of poetry.
