A women's and a men's jury were appointed to select a shortlist for the Orange Prize for Fiction - to examine the impact of gender on reading. The official jury of women's judges has already narrowed down a shortlist but the men have just announced their choice with entirely different results. Researchers found the main difference between the lists was the length, with men favouring shorter books. The male list shares just one author, Kate Grenville, with their female counterparts. The Orange Prize for Fiction is awarded to a female author who's work is written in English, with a £30,000 grant for the winner. The men's shortlist: - Esther Freud - The Wild
- Trezza Azzopardi - The Hiding Place
- Laurie Graham - Dogs Days, Glen Miller Nights
