Despite taking 28 shots (19 shots on goal) so far this season 37 percent of the team's total of 75 Diallo has only one goal and an assist. The 6-foot-4 striker made a big impression on the league in 2000, his first MLS season, recording 26 goals and four assists for the Tampa Bay Mutiny, becoming the first player in league history to average more than two points per game (2.10). Diallo captured his fourth hat trick and tenth multigoal game of his three-year MLS regular-season career including a four-goal outing on May 9, 2001 in a 4-4 tie with the Galaxy. The Diallo- Andy Williams combination struck first in the 27th minute when Diallo scored from the edge of the box. The play started when midfielder Brad Davis fed Williams with a through ball from midfield. Davis sent a long ball to the edge of the box, where Diallo took a low, half-volley shot low to the left of goalkeeper Kevin Hartman. METROSTARS FORWARD MAMADOU DIALLO NAMED MLS PLAYER OF THE WEEK Diallo Scores Twice to Lift Metros Over New England 4-3 NEW YORK (Monday, July 22, 2002) - MetroStars forward Mamadou Diallo has been selected as Major League Soccer’s Player of the Week for the week ending July 21, 2002. Diallo buried two goals, including the eventual game winner, in a 4-3 victory against the New England Revolution on Saturday at Giants Stadium. This is the second time Diallo has received this honor this year, giving the Senegalese striker five such distinctions during his three-year stint in MLS. Diallo last earned player of the week accolades during the 13th week of this season, when he netted four goals, including a natural hat trick, to lead the MetroStars to a 5-0 romp over the Los Angeles Galaxy on June 15. Diallo now has nine goals in seven games with the MetroStars since he was arrived from the Revolution as part of a six-player deal, the biggest trade in MLS history, on May 24. Mamadou Diallo is MLS Player of the Week New York, NY (Monday, May 14, 2001) - Tampa Bay Mutiny forward Mamadou Diallo has been selected by PSRA as MLS' Player of the Week for the week ending May 13, 2001. The 2000 Budweiser Scoring champion recorded all four Mutiny goals in a 4-4 tie versus the red-hot Los Angeles Galaxy last Wednesday and the lone Tampa Bay goal in a 2-1 loss at Colorado on Saturday. Diallo's goal scoring outburst marks the fifth time in MLS history that a player has notched more than three goals in a single game. Diallo, who is second in MLS' scoring race (6g, 2a, 14 points), set several Mutiny scoring records with his four-goal performance vs. the Galaxy including most goals in a game, most career hat tricks (three), fastest hat trick (37 minutes) and fastest consecutive goals in Mutiny history (1:16). Diallo's hat trick marked the first time an individual player had scored three goals against the Los Angeles Galaxy defense. After scoring in the 15th, 16th and 37th minutes, the 29-year-old Senegalese native put Tampa Bay in position to win the game with his 78th minute tally.
