Open letter from Boris Gelfand
In recent interviews of Garry Kasparov on Kasparovchess.ru and in Russian daily "Sport-express" Mr. Kasparov made few statements about my role in his match against Vladimir Kramnik and I would like to clarify few things. Unfortunately original English version of one of these interviews isn't available in print, so I am forced to retranslate it from Russian, when quoting Mr. Kasparov.
Mr. Kasparov said: "When people are working for money - there is no disgrace in doing that. So Kramnik had worked in my team during my match with Anand. … However … some of his [Kramnik's] colleagues were helping him apparently because of "especially warm feelings" towards me. … This is beyond my ethical code. In my opinion Gelfand has a different one." This statement clearly shows that great ex-champion obviously lacks understanding of what friendship is. I can only feel pity to him in this respect.

Terug With another solid defensive performance, 25-year-old Vladimir Kramnik from Tuapse, Russia became the 14th World Chess Champion. He ended the 15-year domination of Garry Kasparov by winning games 2 and 10.When the draw was agreed in game 15 Kramnik punched the air with both fists, the first emotion seen during an amazing month for the young champion.Kramnik fulfilled Kasparov s own prophecy that he would replace him at the top someday. Kasparov was very involved in Kramnik s early tutelage and career and said after game 15 finished that the quality of Kramnik s preparation could be considered proof of the effectiveness of the Botvinnik school of chess instruction, from which they both graduated. Press conference notes: Both players were very relaxed during the press conference. Kasparov: "I m just waiting for Braingames to tell me how I can play another match with Vladimir.""I felt I had no openings with White or Black. Kramnik made some bold choices and my opening preparation was busted. If you think I didn t prepare for this match, wait until the tournaments, till Wijk aan Zee.""I wasn

Round 6: Leko Dethroned, Anand and Kramnik to the Top In the mid-1990s Vishy Anand and Vladimir Kramnik were struggling for second place in the chess world, and now they are vying for victory at Linares. The Indian Tiger had a difficult task today, playing the untouchable Peter Leko . Anand came up with a very strong new plan in a rare line of the Sicilian, sacrificing two pawns for domination. Right after the opening it seemed that Leko was doomed but he managed to hold on till the endgame. But Leko’s position remained unpleasant, and Anand took one step at a time. Immediately after the time control Leko missed some nice tactics with the inaccurate

Vladimir Kramnik Chess Index Chesscom New Chesscom Archive Links ... Chessindex Unofficial Biography Big Bad Vlad By Kenny M My favourite modern player has got to be Kramnik, here is some details on his life for anyone who may be interested. Grandmaster Vladimir Kramnik
Russia
Born : Moscow, 25 June 1975
Ranking: 3º (January 99) The current number three in the world learned to play the game of chess at the age of five (that was in 1980!). When he was only 11 he gained his first master norm, at 14 he was second in the world u-16 World Championships and he gained the title of Grandmaster in Guarapava Brazil in 1991. Kramnik is one of the very few GM's who has never been an International Master. Kramnik has had several trainers, notably his father, Zeshkovsky and a certain gentleman called Garry Kasparov, more recently he has had the services of Dolmatov as his personal assistant. Kasparov particularly had a big influence on Kramnik's career, and to this we can only be grateful as it was at Kasparov's insistence that the then 17 year old Kramnik was included in the Russian team for the 1992 Chess Olympics in Manila where he helped his team to win the Gold Medal and picked up the individual Gold medal for best performance on board four oh and the Grandmaster title for this spectacular performance. Although a lot of people have drawn parallels between Kasparov and Kramnik both their styles of play and their personal characters appear to be quite different.

Draw In Last but One Game of Chess Match Between Vladimir Kramnik and Computer in Bahrain
A draw was registered on Thursday in the last but one game of the chess match between world champion Vladimir Kramnik and a computer which is being held in Bahrain. At the beginning of the game, the Russian Grandmaster had a clear edge but the computer, fitted out with the Deep Fritz programme, relaxed tension in the 24th move.
In the observers' opinion, the attack designed by Kramnik would have taken very much time. The world title holder, unwilling to take chances, proposed a draw in the 28th move. The score in the match of eight games became 3.5-3.5.
Kramnik will play for White in the last game which is to be held on Saturday, October 19th. If he wins he will receive one million dollars from the Amir of Bahrain who is the patron of the match, and 700,000 dollars if he makes a draw.

Big Brother Bareev and Lautier Kramnik with his prize First of all, Vladimir, congratulations on a superb match! At what point in your mind did you think you could really become the World Champion? At Wijk aan Zee you admitted you were tired and lacked energy. When you came to London it was clear that you had lost a lot of weight and looked much fitter. What did you do to achieve this? Did you have a personal physical trainer? Now this brings me neatly to another topic of interest with your past workings with Kasparov. Do you think that it was a sort of world championship suicide on his part to allow you to be his second against Anand in 1995?
