Publisher: Salesrank: Release Date: May, 2000 Author: Clifton Blue Parker Customer Reviews: As Solid as Hack Wilson I found this to be a very well written and very interesting book. Clifton Blue Parker has done an excellent and very thorough and complete research of a rather difficult subject, and pulled off a solid read from start to finish. Clifton Parker is correct in one of his assessments late in this book...People are forgetting Hack Wilson. Here today and gone tomorrow aptly applies to the career and life of Hack Wilson. That is sad indeed. Hack Wilson was a character of the game both on and off the field. What Mr. Parker has done is preserve a life, career and very important lesson in life in his book. Clifton Parker puts Wilson's 191 RBI's into perspective and does not candy coat it. He backs it up with reasonable assumptions and hard facts. A tragic figure is Wilson, and Mr. Parker portrays him accordingly. Interesting how some of today's so-called athletes and heros are really no different than Wilson...

Baseball Hall of Fame
The Baseball Hall of Fame was established in 1936, the first ball players selected: Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, Christy Mathewson, Babe Ruth, and Honus Wagner. Not a bad group.. The first players inducted when the hall opened in Cooperstown, NY, in 1939. They were Grover Cleveland Alexander, Eddie Collins, Lou Gehrig, Willie Keeler, Napoleon Lajoie, Cy Young, George Sisler, and Tris Speaker The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum was officially dedicated on June 12, 1939. The game's four ranking executives of the period—Landis, Frick, Harridge and William G. Bramham, President of the National Association, participated in the ribbon-cutting. Of the 25 players who had been elected to the Hall of Fame up to that point, 11 were still living. Between the original dedication in 1939 and the completion of the National Baseball Library expansion, several significant developments had taken place. New wings were opened on July 24, 1950 and on May 10, 1980; and the Hall of Fame Gallery was dedicated on August 4, 1958. The National Baseball Library opened its doors on July 22, 1968 and the Fetzer-Yawkey Building was dedicated on June 10, 1989. An $8 million Library expansion was completed in 1994, linking the library facility to the Hall of Fame Gallery and incorporating exciting new exhibits on the media and on baseball movies

Hack Wilson BORN:
April 26, 1900 in Ellwood City, Penn.
DIED: November 23, 1948 in Baltimore DEBUT: September 29, 1923 IT'S NOT OFTEN that someone who played for the Chicago Cubs owns one of the biggest records in baseball. IN 1930 , a Cubs outfielder set a record that even Babe Ruth couldn't touch. That year, Hack Wilson drove in 190 RBIs. The record is amazing, yet, so little known. IN FACT , the number is so amazing that Major League Baseball credited Hack Wilson with another RBI in 1999 pushing his total up to 191. The additional RBI was credited to a scoring error found in a baseball boxscore from that year. WHEN JUAN GONZALEZ, playing for Texas at that time, stepped up to bat in the 1998 All-Star game, he had driven in 101 RBIs in the first half of the season. Only one other person, Hank Greenberg with 103 in 1935, had driven in more before the All-Star break. Greenberg and Rodriguez are the only two players in the history of the game to have more than 100 RBIs at the break.

rumors / press reviews audio the family room ... the other side by Owain Wilson He’s a funny bugger , that Wolfgang Petersen. He made quite a reputation for himself by taking a stuffy old genre and crafting out of it an unusual, refreshing movie. Das Boot turned the submarine thriller on its head, and Enemy Mine took Hell In The Pacific into outer space - each with surprising results. These days, however, he seems quite content to wear a Hollywood hack baseball cap, knocking out expensive Quality summer fare for the major studios to stock their multiplexes. Outbreak and The Perfect Storm , as enjoyable as they undoubtedly are, cheerfully wear their ordinariness on their sleeve. As for the pitiful Air Force One … well, that ‘movie’ feels like a perverted homage to the classic anonymous style of the Mediocrity Auteur, Peter Hyams.
I digress. His 1993 flick
