Yogi Berra: Déjà vu All Over Again
Yogi Berra: Déjà vu All Over Again, a one hour documentary hosted by Bob Costas, tells the story of baseball legend Yogi Berra. The narrative of his life is a saga of American success a moving and exciting tale of immigrant drive, athletic determination, humor, teamwork and family devotion. The program is the first ever television biography of his extraordinary life and is being produced with the full cooperation of Yogi Berra and his family, who are helping the producers capture this never-before-told story.
Only one person is both in The Baseball Hall of Fame and has seven entries in Bartlett's Familiar Quotations: Yogi Berra. "Yogi-isms" such as "You can observe a lot by watching" or "Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded" have become part of the American language, repeated by millions of people every day. Both self-effacing and shrewdly funny, these classic one-liners are the works of a comic genius and one of the greatest baseball legends of all time. Yogi-isms are used throughout the program to introduce a topic, change scenes, or drive home a theme.
In 1946, Yogi Berra joined the New York Yankees, where he went on to anchor the most famous dynasty in baseball history. Joe DiMaggio, Hank Bauer, and a 19 year old slugger from Oklahoma named Mickey Mantle all contributed to the Yankees winning an unprecedented ten World Series over a 14-year span. We relive many of those thrilling moments with players and fans alike.

Reporter: Were you apprehensive in the twelfth inning?
Yogi: No, but I was scared.
The other teams could make trouble for us if they win.
Reporter: Yogi, have you made up your mind yet?
Yogi: Not that I know of.
It's deja vu all over again.
We have deep depth.
Upon hearing that his wife had seen the movie Dr. Zhivago: What's the matter with you now?
If the people don't want to come out to the park, nobody's going to stop them.
Always go to other people's funerals, otherwise they won't come to yours. Friend: Have you heard of Ernest Hemingway? Yogi: I don't think so. What paper does he write for? Reporter: I understand you had an audience with the pope? Yogi: No, but I saw him. After attending a performance of Tosca: It was pretty good. Even the music was nice. If there's a 50 percent chance we'l have a repeat American League pennant winner, you gotta remember there's also a 75 percent chance we won't. Congratulations on breaking my record. I always thought the record would stand until it was broken. We're not exactly hitting the ball off the cover.

YOGI's World
Yogi Berra had a 19 year career as a player then went on to be a coach and manager. He was a .285 lifetime hitter with 358 dingers, and he won three MVP awards. He is probably baseball's greatest pundit known for his wonderful little utterances...
Once Billy Martin called him and when Yogi answered with a sleepy "Hello", Billy said, "Yogi, I hope I didn't wake you." Yogi replied, "Don't worry about it... I had to get up to answer the phone anyhow."
"It is deja vu all over again."
Once when Yogi was managing the Mets (back when they wore the ugly orange uniforms), John Lindsey's wife (the mayor of NY) said to Yogi: "My... Mr. Berra, you look very cool in that nice bright uniform." Yogi replied, "Yeah lady you don't look so hot yourself."
Yogi Berra on the art of hitting: "Think? How the hell can you think and hit at the same time?"
Yogi Berra on Yankee stadium's notorious shadows in the outfield: "Hey it gets late early out there."
"Half the lies they tell me aren't true."
