run a virus scanner and use a firewall?!
Colarik's advice is pretty sensible and presented in as nontechnical a manner as possible. I don't think anyone can quarrel about the proferred advice. Though I'm a little dubious of "Executive" in the book's title. Perhaps he's trying to appeal to the ego of the reader. Or perhaps it's just a way to underline that this is not a specialised technical book.

There are explanations of various types of attacks that your computer might meet. And protective, largely preventive countermeasures on your part. For this, the best advice might be to install an antivirus scanner and regularly run it. Along with having it connect to its vendor's website, to download the latest virus signatures. Another good advice is to consider running a firewall. These days, you might not even need a dedicated device. Software firewalls are now quite refined. ... Read more

LC's is an historical book.
This is not a complete review except to say that the descriptions of the game, while concise, are very easy to understand, logically presented, and yet are written in a wonderfully attractive and readable style. All include an illustration of the basic layout.

Some points:

1 The list of games in the current Amazon description page contain two completely different games per line, e.g. Labyrinth and Mount Olympus. The number of games actually totals forty-seven.

2 Lady Carogan's first edition was the first published English language compilation of solitaire games, probably from the 1860's. Second edition was 1874. The edition I have is the even later 1914 as reprinted 2007, the cover shows a bobbed hair flapper playing under a lamp.

Some of these 47 are special favorites of mine for the historical reason of being from the first (English) book, (although mine is a later edition of it- and is the only one I have looked inside of).

3 Amazon sells two Kindle versions right now, and I would guess that they are different editions. If they are, then I am not sure which is the older, having only seen one.

The book should be called "Installation only"
Very detailed instructions of installing the MKLinux and nothing else! I would hope there at least is a quick reference for basic setup and configure of the system. No help at all after the system is up running.

A happy cutomer
This is something every dedicated Mac user should not be without.While Linux is perhaps not the simplest of OS's, this is by far the simplest form of Linux I've ever seen or worked on.If for no other reason the twoincluded CD's are worth the price alone.Although a more indepth basiclinux book would be usefull too unless you are well versed in it.OverallI'm well pleased.

Good, but unorganized
This book included most of the information I needed to set-up, and run mymkLinux system, but it took a lot of paging back and forth to get theinformation I needed. Also, there are some missing steps in the info oncompiling the kernel which I had to get from a mailing list. Other thanthat, a decent reference for those with a mac that want to play with linux.

Well it is dead easy and it's not..
This is the ideal starting point for a non unix human into the weird worldof linux.. just follow the dots and it will run ... Sadly the book does notcover some of the bare basics of the OS itself, so while installing isreally easy, getting the OS to actually do something is NOT covered... Asall linux distributions vary a certain amount some things mentioned inother publications might not work..I had rather seen it included in thisbook.

Useful supplement to any MkLinux user
This book contains some very good hardware details about the Power Macintosh for people who like writing device drivers for the rest of us. The only reason it only gets four stars is that the documentation has a bunch of bad links. Everything is there, it's disorganized. ... Read more
