It's just it!
A good study aid for the 70-220 exam The book is organized to follow the official Microsoft exam objectives. Each section contains a very short summary of the objective. My only criticism is that in many cases the summary was too brief, or simply did not contain useful summary information. On the plus side, the explanations for the answers (both the correct and incorrect choices) to the practice questions also gave useful insight into the actual exam. I used the Microsoft 70-220 Training Kit(see my review) to learn the material and the Readiness Review to study for, and pass the test.I did not use any of the Readiness Reviews for the core exams, but I will certainly consider them for future tests. ... Editorial Review Product Description The Study Guide features: The Test Yourself book features: Customer Reviews (3)
So close and with some work it goes over the top.
Book 1 is a Test Yourself book with 250 plus questions going objective by objective and also at the end of the book is a practice exam. What this book needs is a cd with more practice questions to be a truly effective tool.
In Book 2, the Study Guide, you have a manual that covers every objective and gives you over 50 exercises. Along with that are tips, tricks and diagrams plus questions at the end of each chapter.
The cd included has audio study so you can learn while driving, an e-book making this whole thing portable, CertTrainer for the e-training and ExamSim for the practice test mode. Overall a nice package which can be used in the classroom as well as self learning.
Don't Waste Your Money My attempts to contact the publisher to get an up to date listing of errata was not at all satisfying. If you want books that more accurately represent the material that is actually on the CompTIA Network+ exam, I recommend the Network+ Exam Cram and Exam Prep books, and the Network+ Certification for Dummies book (in that order).

Editorial Review Product Description Routing, like object-oriented programming, is one of the topics everyone must think about and conceptualize individually. Paquet and Teare use conceptual drawings, feature-comparison tables, and Internetwork Operating System (IOS) input-and-output listings--as well as lucid writing--to explain complex protocols as simply as possible. They also make use of a case study in which a company must integrate several acquired companies, each with different internetworking and routing schemes, into an efficient whole. More obviously test-preppish material includes configuration exercises (assigned and then separately explained) and review questions at each chapter's conclusion. --David Wall Topics covered: Customer Reviews (25)
Bound to leave you confused! The organization of OSPF material has the following drawbacks: a) lack of context, the commands are covered only after some theory is given in a dry definition form. This is great, you may say, but to me it was not easy to put the definitions into context. The material for OSPF is mostly from the Cisco OSPF Design Guide (read those skimpy pages to get the most understanding of OSPF). So it looks like from the OSPF design guide, they seperated the theory and interspersed it with some other text and moved the configuration towards the chapter end. The second OSPF chapter requires serious apology to the readers: inter area routing and external routing are impossible to describe and make students understand without introducing redistribution(this is introduced only at the end). However, this makes the material extremely difficult to understand. EIGRP is OK. BGP is another complex set of definitions, and several reads are needed before even trying to piece together the definition and understand how to put everything together. So: for OSPF start from OSPF design guide by Cisco. Not sure about where to go for EIGRP and BGP: I got a hang of those material by several reads of the Paquet and Teare material.
Building Scalable Cisco Networks
A good book for the material it presents. I also believe that it would be a mistake to judge this book against a benchmark it wasn't designed for, hence, I'll confine my comments and rating from perspective 1. The authors have done a good job with the topics presented in the book. I would recommend this book to anyone who is considering studying for the CCNP/CCIP certification and doesn't know where to begin. That said, I would suggest you look below at the list of books and testing software I found useful and necessary to prepare for the BSCI test. Base guide: This book A few words about the test itself and how I fared. The test was tougher than I had anticipated. I say tough because, I felt that the questions and the choices were loosely worded to leave me with some doubt of my choices. So far, I've always completed the tests in somewhere between half and two-thirds the time-limit, however, it took me almost the allotted duration to complete this exam. To be candid, I felt I got lucky to have scored 907. Note: Perhaps this review might be put in a better perspective if I said, that I've been away from hands-on experience with networks for the last five months. Prior to the break, I had worked in the internetworking industry for about five years(effectively) out of six. I wish the best of luck to other pursuers!

Outdated Text
Helped me pass the exam I probably did more studying than most, but I read the book cover to cover and did all the practice exams.I found they went into more detail than was necessary for the network portion of the exam. However, don't let that mislead you, because you are tested on a LOT of networking and TCP/IP concepts. It's just that they went into more detail than necessary, (however, it's nice to know, especially if you're not as familiar with networking as with the web aspects of the test). But again, if you don't know the networking aspect, you will *not* pass this test. I think that this book could (and should) have covered more on encryption and line speeds.I had to go outside the book because they didn't go in to enough detail there. I will also second the motion that there are errors in the book; however if you read the chapters carefully, you'll pick up the errors fairly easily. In all, I'd recommend this book.I would not have passed the test without it.Good luck!
Excellent source for passing CIW-F. Also, I didn't encounter much on the exam that wasn't in the book, with one exception-It may be helpful to know binary math to understand the IP Addressing section more easily, and the book doesn't cover this much. I didn't find NUMEROUS mistakes as others have, but I did see one or two-usually editorial mistakes, though, and easy to spot. This book was not my only source, though. For information on the TCP/IP stack and the OSI/RM (knowing these subjects in DETAIL is absolutely VITAL!) I used a CD-ROM from learntcpip.com.It only cost about ... but it helped alot. Overall, I will recommend this book to anyone planning to take the Foundations exam.

"There are a number of books available for Cisco's 640-721 exam, but by far Henry Chou and Michael Kang's CCNA Cisco Certified Network Associate Wireless Study Guide is in a league of its own. It divides the material into twelve chapters (five parts) and thoroughly covers the information. At the end of each chapter, you have a "Two-Minute Drill" and a test (followed by the answers to such). The minimum number of these end-of-the-chapter questions is ten, with one chapter holding 11 and another 18. There are practice exams on the accompanying CD (making the total set 250), and two appendices on hardware-related subject matter. This makes for one powerful book and the ideal prescription for passing a popular CCNA exam." CertCities, July 1, 2010 Customer Reviews (1)
