Do not buy this book
1) This book is outdated. 310-25 is an old exam. You are better off passing the new one - 310-035.

2) The book contains some serious errors. For example, here is an excerpt from the page 146:

"Polymorphism ... in object oriented programming, refers to the capability of objects to have many methods of the same name, but different types of arguments. The print() and println() methods of the PrintStream class are excellent examples of polymorphism".

This definition of polymorphism is just plain WRONG.

3) I cannot say anything about the second part related to the 310-027 exam.

Too many typographical errors
I purchased the CramSession as a last-minute study aid before my exam.While seemingly well organized, there are so many typographical errors that I stopped using it after the first few pages.Examples: On page 7, "Float" was listed as a primitive (it is not).On page 6, nearly a quarter of the reserved keywords are incorrectly capitalized!On page 10, "<==" is listed as a comparison operator (there is no such operator).I fear for the person who takes this information into the exam with them.This book needs a technical editor or a good proofreading. ... Questions that really make you think about Java
The best material that can be used in preparing for a certification exam is that which forces you to think about the subject in ways that you have not considered before. I have been teaching Java programming for nearly ten years and there were many questions in this book that really forced me to think hard about the language before I answered them. While it is certainly possible to answer most of them after due consideration, there were some where the topic had never crossed my mind. My favorite in that category is on page 98, where the question involves the legality of having more than one static initializer in a class. A close second was one concerning the order that listeners are called when there is more than one assigned to a component.
Each section begins with a very short summary of the topic, followed by a set of concept questions where the expectation is that the reader write a short essay answer. This is followed by a set of vocabulary exercises, where the reader is to write the definition of the word or phrase. There is a section called the challenge lab section, which contains problems where the solution is to be coded, and then a section of focus questions. While they have a multiple choice format, more than one answer is possible and the differences between the answers can be quite subtle. Most of them are code analysis problems, where you are to identify either what is wrong with the code or what it will produce when run.
In reading this book and trying some of the examples, I learned more about the basics of Java than I have in reading any other book in the last five years.It is an excellent way to prepare for certification exams, the coverage of the basics of Java is complete, provided you think hard enough about the problems. As simple as necessary, but no simpler
When a person is taking their tentative first steps in learning a new programming language, the training material must be as simple as necessary, but no simpler. Too easy, and everyone is bored, yet too hard and most are lost. This book of introductory lessons is at just the right mix. Designed for the starting from scratch Java beginner, all of the basics of the language are introduced via hands on exercises.
The lessons have the form:

* Title, with estimated time to completion.
* Learning objective
* Description/scenario
* File management (if applicable)
* Preparation
* Tasks, broken into the sequential steps.

The basics of the Unified Modeling Language (UML) are also introduced and it is used to describe the classes to be constructed. This was an excellent approach, as the UML is a concise, easy to understand way to present the essentials of a class, which with the choice of the lessons, makes this a sound book for the study of Java. ...
