Delightful book with wonderful illustrations
I have read this story to several young children, who are entranced by the adventures of this adventuresome iguana and his good friend, the frog. Every time I read it I am entranced by the delightful illustrations --especially the expressions on the faces of Irving & Freddy, as well asthe backgrounds that go from tropical rainforest to Himalayan-type peaks toskyscraper-clogged cities. So the book rates high for both kids & thepeople who have to read a favorite book over and over and over.

Grandchildren throughly enjoyed the book.
Purchased this book for a 5 year old. He was able to read the story line which he found very interesting as his school has a pet Iguana. The illustrations were beautifully done. Five stars

Grab bag of good and bad
Strengths:
1. Easy reading, detailed proofs
2. Covered required algebra background (modules, ideals, Dedekind domains, etc)
3. Many, many examples

Weaknesses:
1. Too detailed in some cases
2. Does not develop more advanced ideas that actually make the material easier
3. Poor index
4. Examples are often too simple

This book takes the reader through the required algebra background and moves them into the realm of using these abstract algebraic construction to study the theory of numbers. The book is aimed at upper-level undergraduates, so it's easy reading. Sometimes too easy reading, as proofs are often long-winded and contain many trivial details. In some instances, I wanted all those details, often it was simply annoying.

The real strength of this book lies in the many explicit examples. It was worth the price for these examples, as most higher-level books offer few examples.

The index is terrible, but the additional reading section at the end of each chapter is a nice addition.

Overall, I learned a lot from this book, but would have liked to have the authors approached the material at a little bit higher level. For instance, instead of using complex conjugates extensively, I would have preferred introducing a mapping to the complex conjugates (say sigma) for use in most proofs. ... Read more

Hancock at his best.
Tony hancock was at his best just before he finished making radio programs. This collection consists of his last radio programs and various previously 'lost' gems. Some of the episodes suffer from the abcence of the comic voices provided by Kenneth Williams. However Tony along with Sid James keeps us laughing with timeless humour. The box set consists of all 14 episodes from series six plus episode 9 from series 4, a 1958 Christmas special and 4 Transcription Services episodes. The packaging leaves a lot to be desired and the British price is a bit hefty. But for all Hancock fans its a must. ... Read more

I gave this only 4 stars instead of 5 simply because of how it fit my needs.My kids, age 10 & 12, are really whizkids when it comes to math.They had learned a little vedic math when they attended a special school in Farifield, Iowa and when they got home, they wanted more!This book was good for them and an excellent introduction to the subject, but it is not quite a text book, kid-friendly format.They use it, and like it, but I will be looking for more of a text book for them. ...
