Product Description
In western astrology we have grown accustomed to perceiving the Sun's path as circular: the years revolve and the days and months return again, the 360 degrees of the zodiac go round in a ring. But the Sun has an up and down path too. It climbs steps of declination from each equinox to solstice and descends again from solstice to equinox. It marks off time in a different way which gives an extraordinary view, and adds an extra breadth to the meaning and movement of the heavenly bodies. This comprehensive work not only covers the technique of declination, but it is full of the fascinating myths and traditions which form the cornerstone of our culture - it will therefore be of great interest to anyone who follows the natural rhythm of the solar and lunar festivals in the course of their everyday lives. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book
Granted, I haven't studied other astrology books on declination, but I found this book to be an excellent introduction to the subject for me, an absolute beginner on the topic of declination. It has lots of interesting information and real-life examples that make reading it interesting and informative. Having read only this one book on the subject, I have started incorporating this information into my astrological chart readings, with good results. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars continuing quality
This is the third volume of the Boris Karloff anthologies and again Dark Horse has hit a home run.The whole package is there. So why only 4 stars? As a collector of EC products the stories are just not the same quality as the EC(ie tales from the Crypt, Haunt of fear etc). However I can recommend this anthology wholeheartedly.

5-0 out of 5 stars It is no mystery why these are good.
Well Dark Horse Comics does an excellant job at bringing these long not forgotten but fondly remembered comics back for former fans and a new gerneration of possiable fans. I am an old comic book fan in both sense of the word. So I like to just be able to pick up a comic and sit, read, and enjoy. The stories here are clever, entertaining and even a little amusing at times. Art is by some of the great comic book artists from a previous time. After reading volume one I had no problem ordering volume two. And after reading volume two I had no problem ordering this wolume. And will continue till the series end.

5-0 out of 5 stars For kids and adults.
I loved this book as much as the first 2. Only one thing's wrong. Everything's there except they reversed some of the covers. Can't see how they could mess this up. No big deal. Waitin' for the next book. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars It's not only against whaling, it's against a wrong system
I was skeptical when I heard about Paul Watson's action at first time when I came to the US, I was even even wandering who these crazy guys burning oil in the Antartic were, and what exactly they want. That's when I took the time to read about them that I understood this action is necessary, and I would add: unfortunately.
We live in a system where it's OK to butcher a veal or a whale, even with cruelty, but one can have a $250.000 fine and go to jail for up to 5 years for duplicating a DVD... What's the difference here ?
The veal, whale, chicken or whatever piece of nature has no legal owner with lawyers and cash to protect these assets, while corps do, and are based on a corrupted system running against nature and humanity, but fed by humans.
One needs to understand this to agree with activists like the Sea Shepherd, who can appear like extremists, but found the only way (unfortunately) to be heard and reduce abuse.
After reading the book I met several guys members (some of the crew) of the sea shepherd and I could see a couple videos of modern whaling boats in action. While these "researchers" pretend they harpoon and kill a whale at second shot, basically in two minutes, This video (and many others I found since) clearly show that a medium size minky whale needs at least 6 shot to get killed, and that the calvary lasts at least 20 minutes after it's been harpoon. So please stop that BS that consists in saying that killing whale is humane.
Anyway, humane or not is not the only problem. Japanese industrial fishing is devastating for the ocean (last time I was in Japan I was considering the fish market - one of many - and wandering how the seas could take it to deliver this every single day of the year. How long can this last ?
Whalers don't care. They are NOT scientists. You don't need to kill thousands of animals in research's name. 3 whales a year would be enough, and actually if research was the goal, it would much more interesting to catch a whale cub,put a couple sensors on it, and follow its growth and vital signals other one or decades. I was working in a national research lab in France as a student and the guys were killing there about 30 mice and 5 rabbits a year so please tell me how and why one single research society would need to kill a thousand whales per year to get statistics on their stomach and brain weigh? This is absolutely ridiculous. And of course the meat is packed and sold, while all the organs are wasted and thrown into the ocean... weird, that is left for researchers ?

This system is totally corrupted, veal and beef cattle in the US is wrong as it is in many countries only because consumers and producers, without counting on industrial packaging and marketing food, are greedy and stupid.
Consumers want crappy meat for cheap, get fat and sick for less; producers and fishers just don't care about anything but their pay check, and industrials are ready to kill mothers and children for one more percent of productivity.
The Sea Shepherd is a cry against that. That shows the humans can think, weigh and act if necessary.

Watson writes that when you see a woman or child being raped and killed in the street, you can't just take a picture so that the world knows. You have to act and stop this.

I wish there was more Sea Shepherd about everything : food industry, banks, copyrights, etc. We as humans start being victims of our own system while we've already killed something like 50% of our environment, at an accelerating rate.

Also I would invite anyone feeling involved into this to boycott Japanese cars. I sent a letter to the Japanese Embassy explaining why I would never give such an amount of money to the industry of a country that officially supports whaling, and provides lies and means to commercial whalers, hiding them behind a fake national research institute. Shame on Japanese government.

Hello from France, and thank you Sea Shepherd for reminding abusers that if the authorities don't act, good willing 'regular' people are here to care. I am proud to be one of them and yes, I am ready to fight for a better world, because I'm not just a stupid consumer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
Finally someone has the courage to actually intervene and do the right thing in our pathetic "politically correct" society. If we used Paul Watsons model to combat everyone who is illegally destroying our environment and the innocent inhabitants thereof, we might actually save this planet.

5-0 out of 5 stars Paul Watson and the Sea Shepherd are amazing.
This crew is not dangerous, and they should be admired for what they are doing. What is WRONG is whaling and killing animals for food IN A WORLD WHERE IT DOESN'T BELONG ANYMORE. It is a PURE case of double standards to say what the Sea Shepherd crew is doing is wrong. We've evolved past eating meat and do not need to force other creatures that can feel pain, just as we can, into undeserving, painful and gruesome deaths. It's disgusting what people will do for a dollar. Everyone is so self-involved and worried about their own well being and will rape whatever land or animal population they can to sustain their own greedy and ignorant lifestyle. I'm disgusted by the majority of my own species and find extreme relief to know that people out there like Paul Watson exist. In generations to come, people will undoubtedly look back on our generation in disgust, the same we we look at the generation that used and abused people for slavery.

Paul Watson's ideas are absolutely necessary for the age we are in right now, and he conveys them exceptionally well in this book. People need to look past their own lives, as Paul Watson has, and realize there is a greater thing to be sustained than human beings. Humans are horrible for the planet, and someone needs to take a step in the right direction so as not to be, and reverse our destructive roles as "god" figures.

In fact, it is a goal of mine to volunteer for the Sea Shepherd in the not-so-distant future.

I thank you, infinitely, Paul Watson.

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrorism
It's time for us to wake and see that these people are dangerous. Not only to themselves by sending out untrained crew into dangerous waters but in the terrorism that we support. As a sailor who worked for NOAA for 5 years and got to spend 2 months tied alongside this boat when it was the Farley Mowat (before the renaming) and to see the incompetent crew doing VERY dangerous things. They are ramming ships on the high seas and boarding vessels, that's called piracy! And we say it's ok because it's for a good cause? How is celebrating these terrorists any different than buying the trading cards of Hammas suicide bombers? They did what they thought was necessary (misguided and wrong) and were willing to die for it. I believe that is the pledge these crew members make before sailing, that they are willing to die to save a whale. Yes the Japanese sell the meat from the whales they study. Would it be better if they just pushed it over the rail and let it sink like NOAA does with the fish we catch to study? And I have met many whale researchers and not a single one has said that the whale species that are being taken are endangered and could not thrive with a managed hunt.

This ship is also not allowed in several countries for skipping out on ship yard bills, and I believe Norway has a $3mill bounty on Capt. Paul. So if anyone needs some spare cash buy him a ticket to Norway.

Please stop supporting American born Eco-Terrorism!!!

Product Description
Already a success on Broadway, in1954 Paul Newman beganhis film career--disastrously--as Basil the slave in "The SilverChalice." Before long, however, he was considered not only a fineactor but also the sexiest man in films. Determined to steer his owncareer, he broke away from the control of the studio system; withastute choices of scripts and directors, he established a screenpresence that has remained both popular and respected. From "Cat on aHot Tin Roof" and "The Hustler" to "Butch Cassidy and the SundanceKid," "Mrs. Bridge," and "Nobody's Fool," Newman has repeatedlydemonstrated how versatile and compelling an actor he is. Besides hisachievements on the stage and screen, including directing, he has wonfour national amateur car racing titles, devoted himself to politicalactivism, and founded Newman's Own, a business that has donated morethan $70 million to worthy causes. Drawing on interviews with Newmanand with his colleagues, and with the help of 120 strikingphotographs, Eric Lax looks at this exceptional life and the manbehind the enduring screen image.
