2-0 out of 5 stars very incomplete
This book is not worth the money.I had hoped the book would be something in between what you'd find in a general surg path text and something more voluminous like Odze.Unfortunately, this book is more cursory than any of the major surg path texts.they omitted appendiceal neoplasms (why??) and when i recently wanted to look up hepatic adenoma subtypes, i noticed they were not described.overall, if you have a surg path text, you don't need this.if you want an adequate gi path text, buy odze.

5-0 out of 5 stars Useful text
I've had some complaints with this series, but this is one of the better texts. I have used it extensively and read most of it for review. The tables are quite good, and most illustrations/photos are good. It's certainly much better than teh GI chapters I've seen in multiauthored surg path texts. Definitely worth the money. ... Product Description
In 1940, Fala came to live with President Franklin D. Roosevelt in the White House. On sunny days, the little dog played in the grass outside the Oval Office. He attended important meetings with the president s advisors. At night, the president and Fala often dined together.

But as the world slipped further into war and America was drawn into the conflict, life at the White House changed. Fala stayed up late into the night with President Roosevelt. He accompanied the president on journeys across the country and around the world and waited with him for the return of American servicemen and the end to a terrible war.

Author Elizabeth Van Steenwyk offers young readers a glimpse into American history and the life of a U.S. president through the story of a loyal dog. Michael G. Montgomery s full-color illustrations capture the indomitable spirit of Fala and the nation and president who loved him. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars *Wonderful* book!
This would be a marvelous book for children--an interesting variation of the "boy and his dog" theme--but I bought it for my wife because we love Scotties. And the illustrations are absolutely wonderful! They are charming, understanding, and delightful, even apart from the text. This would be a perfect gift for any Scottie people.LOVE it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Charming
I bought this book to add to my collection of Scottish Terrier books. The illustrations are delightful and give both Roosevelt and Fala interesting and lively demeanors. The backgrounds are timely and fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars first dog fala
This beautiful, and historically correct, dog (and presidential)story keeps my first graders' interest. It's proved a great way for 6 year olds to connect with a president. Beautifully written and illustrated.

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful picturebook especially recommended for young dog lovers
First Dog Fala is a children's picturebook based on the true story of the bond between American President Franklin D. Roosevelt and his little black terrier Fala. Given to Roosevelt as a gift from his cousin in 1940, Fala was the President's loyal friend through the darkest times of World War II. Chapters relate true anecdotes, such as the day Fala was given a birthday cake to eat but wouldn't chow down until all guests had left the room, or a true story of public outcry about when Fala was left behind on a Pacific island and a destroyer was sent to retrieve him, costing taxpayers millions of dollars and starting a public outcry. ("Well, of course, I don't resent attacks, and my family doesn't resent attacks, but Fala does resent them," FDR famously said). The subtle, color illustrations bring to life this true story from Fala's diminutive point of view, in this wonderful picturebook especially recommended for young dog lovers.
