Product Description
The premise of this new work of fiction is that the diariesthat Marilyn Monroe were rumored to have kept in the last years of herlife have been found and are being published for the first time - sowe are reading her life story as if told in her own words. It is afascinating tale of triumph and pain, beauty and tragedy, told againsta backdrop of a golden age in Hollywood history, the 50s and 60s. Ithas a cast of characters that includes John and Jackie Kennedy, FrankSinatra, Elizabeth Taylor, Peter and Pat Lawford, Robert Kennedy,Natalie Wood, Warren Beatty and many others. The difference betweenthis book and other recent works of fiction about the blonde actressis that in this novel Marilyn Monroe comes across as a living, breathing human being - not a cardboard caricature based on charactersfrom her films. This is, however, a book for adults. It is not aDisney cartoon version of a blonde Snow White with cartoon birdschirping over her head.It is the exploration of a complex woman ofcomplicated, unresolved contrasts - a doomed siren that, even beyondthe grave, never lost her power to seduce. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The Marilyn Diaries
Marilyn Monroe has inspired some of the greatest writers to try and capture her voice in fact and fiction: Truman Capote, Norman Mailer, Gloria Steinem, Joyce Carol Oates and (rather unkindly) her third husband Arthur Miller. My expectations for Charles Castillo's thin volume of 'lost' imagined diaries from the last two years of Marilyn's life were thus relatively low. But this supreme work of ventriloquism reveals a Marilyn her fans would like her to be: witty, wise, charming, vulnerable and etched with melancholy. The story is occasionally salty but never tasteless or demeaning towards a woman the author clearly adores. If The Marilyn Diaries can be likened to any other book about Marilyn it would be Truman Capote's pen portrait A Beautiful Child. If you need further endorsement look no further than the dust jacket where men who knew Marilyn at this stage of her too brief life - Bert Stern and Ernest Cunning - cannot praise this account enough. One can only hope Castillo is moved to 'discover' the diaries covering Marilyn's earlier life.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Marilyn Diaries
I found myself drawn into Marilyn's personal character right from the outset of this book. From the beginning I completly believed that this book was written by Marilyn herself and lost the reality that the 'words' written were being written by Charles.

The words flowed so passionatly, like a lost soul yearning to be loved by the outside world! And that word LOVED was the key to this womans life. She wanted to be LOVED by people but she found it hard for her heart to genuinely love. She was always wondering to herself if whoever she was with loved her for her OR because she was Marilyn Monroe.

Charles has this unique, crystal clear vision to pour himself into this womans mind and to tell her 'story' as though she was telling it herself. My fingers kept wrapping themselves around each page & I found the visual story running through my head as the words passed by before I was allowed to turn each page and read more.

In writing the Marilyn's diaries,he put himself, his heart & his soul on the line.As Marilyn was & still is a legend in the eyes of many and will be for generations to come. Not many people would dare to be as bold or as brave, but I have to hand it to Charles...he's brought this woman to life, even if only for the time I was reading T.M.D.

The Casillo Angel

5-0 out of 5 stars Charles gets into the thought process of a lonley glamerous star
How much has been written about Marilyn?Over thirty bios!! What I like about Casillos work is his ability to capture an emotional and thought process. Facts are facts, but Charles some how connects the random internal processing and emotions that create a character from the inside. Monroe has been described and analized a thousand times.Cassillo let's you share her thoughts....like most of us this woman wanted to be loved.
She was searching for peace of mind and God. Most books have us observe celebs as folly...this one makes me realize we all, male or female, have a lot in common.Ok, I am a PR guy at heart and I love this guys work..I just want to see better covers that reflect the art within. Brilliant.

5-0 out of 5 stars "I Didn't Want It To End"This is for everyone to read!!!
Charles Casillo is a MASTER.
Charles Casillo is definitely one of the great voices of contemporary fiction in the way that he makes you believe in the character he is creating... this book brought Marilyn Monroe to life like no other biography and no essay has ever been able to do... Now I feel I understand her even more. Her Pain, Her brilliance and what she had to endure.Charles made her alive and It felt as though Marilyn was actually reading it to me herself.DON'T MISS THIS ONE... Somehow I feel very very different about Marilyn.I love her even more if that is possible. -FCPerry

5-0 out of 5 stars Marilyn's Muse
She's alive and taking us with her in Charles Casillo's, "The Marilyn Diaries." We enter the back doors and elegant front doors of some of the most influential and famous people in the world! Through those doors we find treachery, unrequited love, and loneliness...a loneliness that pervades and lurks in the shadows of everyone at some point in life.

Marilyn has finally found her muse at the point of Mr. Casillo's pen.

Whether or not you grew up with Marilyn Monroe, this is a must-read for all of us who have adored her over the years..for whatever reason! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The many moods of Marilyn
A stunning book for any serious Marilyn afficianado - the photos, taken by little known paparazzi photographer Earl Leaf throughout Marilyn's career show so many of her moods, facets, expressions that it sometimes feels like you see her in an entirely new and unexpected light whenever you turn the page. Quite a few of the photographs show her lesser-known sides: her imperiousness, her toughness, her shrewdness, her ability to manipulate - all qualities she tried very hard to hide from her public but which nevertheless make her even more fascinating. Ventura's text gives some interesting insights and a uniquely lyrical point of view of Marilyn and what the images taken by Leaf's lens show of her. From her early starlet days to the years of her decline, we see her slowly eroding emotionally like an apparition fading into the light. Sometimes sad, often food for thought and always beautiful to look at, this is definitely one of the favourites in my collection. There are many images here you most likely have not seen before and will keep revisiting for many years to come.

Product Description

In American popular culture Marilyn Monroe has evolved in stature from Hollywood sex symbol to tragic legend. Most books about Monroe stress the sensational events that surrounded her-this book is the first to deal honestly and critically with Monroe as an actress, evaluating her moves as crucial forces in the shaping of her identity. Through careful examination of her performances, from her small appearances in The Asphalt Jungle and All About Eve to her memorable roles in Bus Stop, Some Like It Hot, and the The Misfits, the author traces her development from cover girl innocent to an actress devoted to her craft. Based on extensive interviews with many of Monroe's colleagues, close friends, and mentors, this comprehensive, critically balanced study describes her use of Method acting as well as her instruction with Michael Chekhov and, later, the Strasbergs. Carl Rollyson has written a refreshing analysis and appreciation of Marilyn Monroe's enduring and, until now, underestimated gifts as a creative artist.

5-0 out of 5 stars A novice kind of book; MM as an actress. BRAVO! ENOCRE Mr. Rollyson!
there is not much i can say about this book, that seems to be the case when something is of high excellence. this book explains mm's methods of acting, and how she'd prepare for her roles. it also does so while giving info where she was in her life. so that makes it unboring. i couldn't put the book down. i read it and i am going to read it again. as an aspiring actress, it has become my bible, so to speak. the author has obviously researched extremely and he is commended. it is written very intelligently and concise. i think this is an excellent book for someone who wants to mimic MM like an impersonator. i also liked the texture of the book and paper. it seems different.lol. mr. rollyson wrote a review (hi!!) saying there has been more info since his writing of this book. i hope he writes another one, a 2nd one. i will be the first to buy it! thank you for your excellent, helpful book. (i knew, like 99% of the world, that there was something extremely special and unique about MM's acting and you have described about it) :- )

5-0 out of 5 stars Marilyn Monroe: A Life of the Actress
As mentioned by the author, there have been a significant number books that have been written about the acting performances of Miss Monroe; however, Mr. Rollyson's book is written in depth and with candor regarding her method of study and acting.I found that there was a thorough analysis of her films, not just a brief overview. This is one book that should be found in every Monroe afficionado's library, especially those who are truly interested in her acting style and method.A very interesting and enjoyable read.

5-0 out of 5 stars The only biography to carefully assess Monroe's acting.
I wrote this biography at a time when no biographyhad shown how Monroe approached her screen roles.I developed a vocabulary for assessing her acting, particularly her major roles from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes to The Misfits.Much new information has been uncovered since I wrote my book, but I don't think any writer has surpassed my treatment of her life as an actress. ... Product Description
A brilliant combination of visual-book glamour and meticulous scholarship, the most comprehensive study of Marilyn Monroe ever published

MarilynMonroe's status as one of the most recognizable icons of the twentieth century is undisputed--her life was both glorious and tragic, and her legacy is still pondered by everyone from film scholars to pop culture mavens. Now, with The Marilyn Encyclopedia, Adam Victor has assembled all the information a Marilyn fan could ever want, and written a virtual Encyclopedia Britannica of Marilyn's extraordinary legend and legacy. Fans and scholars finally have easy access to specific information on Marilyn's life and times, including complete information about her films, quotes from reviews, anecdotes, gossip, and famous sayings; entries touching on all of Marilyn's relationships (husbands, lovers, family members, directors, co-stars); catalogs of her clothing; and complete information on her recordings. Times, dates, and places; surgeries, Kennedys, and conspiracy theories--simply everything is here.

Through astute research and crisp writing, Victor traces Marilyn's inexorable path to iconhood, creating a compelling anatomy of fame in our century. The book also includes an up-to-date bibliography, a list of fan clubs, web sites, and--of course--hundreds of photos and illustrations, many of them rare, some simply never seen before. Marvelously stylish and incomparable in scope and depth, The Marilyn Encyclopedia will satisfy even her most ravenous fans.

Which Marilyn do you know?

Clark Gable on Marilyn:

"She's a kind of ultimate, in her way, with a million sides to her, each one of them fascinating, completely feminine, and femininity without guile. Everything Marilyn does is different from any other woman, strange and exciting, from the way she talks to the way she uses that magnificent torso."

Jean Negulesco, directing Marilyn in How to Marry a Millionaire

"Marilyn, don't try to sell this sex thing, you are sex! You are the institution of sex."

Milton Greene (photographer) on Marilyn:

"I thought I'd seen them all. . . . But I'd never seen anyone with that tone of voice, that kindness, that real softness. . . . Later I was to find out that she was schizoid--that she could be absolutely brilliant or absolutely kind, then, the total opposite."

Betty Grable on Marilyn:

"Why, Marilyn's the biggest thing that's happened in Hollywood in years. The movies were just sort of going along, and all of a sudden, Zowie, there was Marilyn. She's a shot in the arm for Hollywood."

Marilyn on Sex:

"No sex is wrong if there's love in it. But too often people act like it's gymnasium work, mechanical."

Marilyn on Clark Gable:

"The place was full of so-called men, but Clark was the one who brought a chair for me between the takes."Amazon.com Review
The Marilyn Encyclopedia is, according to its jacket notes, "the most comprehensive book about [Marilyn Monroe's] extraordinary life and legacy ever published." This may easily be true--it is incredibly, insanely detailed. Author Adam Victor has taken every conceivable source of Marilyn information--admittedly including Internet rumors and Hollywood gossip among the more well-documented tidbits--distilled them down to alphabetical entries, and cross-referenced them to within an inch of their lives. While the casual fan can check out Marilyn's Look covers or a list of the screenwriters she worked with, hardcore devotees can look up such vital information as the name of the first restaurant she and Joe DiMaggio ate at on their honeymoon (a controversy--was it the restaurant at the Hot Springs Hotel or at the Clifton Inn?) or the name of Marilyn's poodle (Maf Honey). The meticulous cross-referencing makes The Marilyn Encyclopedia an extremely enjoyable browser's read, allowing the reader to hop from Marilyn's disdain for underwear to her working relationship with John Huston to the fact that she never had much trouble with gambling--all with the flip of a page. This encyclopedia of course contains a rich assortment of photos: posed studio portraits, pinups, and candid shots vie for space throughout the tome. Despite his obvious devotion as a fan, Victor is remarkably evenhanded in his choice of the quotes and anecdotes sprinkled throughout the book. The reader cannot help but be left with the impression that, for all her magical appeal, Monroe may well have been a trying person to deal with on a day-to-day basis. This is the perfect book for the dedicated fan who wants to know everything--no, really, everything--about Marilyn Monroe. --Ali Davis ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars IT DOES NOT CELEBRATE THE WOMAN
I AGREE WITH A COMMENTER THAT THIS BOOK HAS NO RELIABLE SOURCE OF TRUTH TO THE LIFE OF MARILYN MONROE AND IT HAS SOME TYPOS IN SENTENCE STRUCTURE. A WRITER SHOULD BE ABLE TO REVISE AND REVISE CAREFULLY FOR ERRORS. IF YOU READ THIS BOOK YOU HAVE TO KNOW HOW TO TELL WHAT IS FACTUAL AND WHAT IS NOT. HOWEVER, IT IS NOT AN EXCELLENT IDEA TO INCLUDE ANOTHONY SUMMERS OR DONALD SPOTO FOR INFORMATION BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT THEY DO NOT KNOW HER PERSONALLY. THE BOOK CONSTANTLY MENTIONS ABOUT THE NUDE CALENDER, WHILE I GET THE IDEA ALREADY. THE AUTHOR LIKES TO INSULT THE INTELLIGENCE OF THIS MISUNDERSTOOD WOMAN. IT IS SAD THAT GREEDY PEOPLE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE MEMORY OF MARILYN MONROE EVERY YEAR SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY WANT TO MAKE MONEY OFF OF HER. THIS BOOK IS PACKED WITH GOSSIP, BUT THE ONLY THING I CAN AGREE WITH IS THAT THE PICTURES ARE NICE.

2-0 out of 5 stars Adam Victor or Gloria Steinhem?
The Controllers
When I bought this book for a dollar I thought that it would be half good and half bad.I was right. At times, some of the book's authors provide insight.Others don't.In fact some of the writers rely on Gloria Steinhem so heavily as a source that the Feminist should receive writing credit for half the book's royalties. This over reliance becomes tedious. Moreover, the book's central theme is that Marilyn was an equal to her contemporaries on an intellectual level. At first this assertion is intriguing.Later it settles in to the reader the notion is merely an artifice.
I anticipated an insight into the technique and production of glamor art.I found little.Paragraph after paragraph tells of Marylin's ability to read a camera, but never is it told exactly how.More often, I found tales of anxiety told over and over again.Another assertion of the authors is that Marilyn's mental illness was no more profound than that of mainstream America. An intriguing assertion, but not borne out.I expected plenty of glamor photos.I found few.

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW! WOW! WOW! Amazing!
After reading the glowing reviews for this book, I just had to get it and see what the fuss was about. I was cynical though, and thought it was probably overrated. How wrong I was! When I went to the mail there was this huge package for me, and I wondered, what did i order that big? When I opened it I was astonished and delighted that "The Marilyn Encyclopedia" was so big. I thought, "a Marilyn book this big?! Boy, this has to have a lot of info and pics!" I was right! I've never seen a MM book like this or a celebrity book like this actually. I praise Mr. Victor for all his hard, hard work. To compile this must have been an an excruciating task (he said this book took 3 yrs to create and he had a lot of help) There's 334 pages of just info (and pics). And you might as well think if it as more than 334 pages; because if this was an average sized book it would have been 600 pages! That's why they had to make the pages so long and the book is so big. Mr. Victor did the impossible. From A-Z you will find how someone, something, or someplace relates to Marilyn Monroe!! For instance, there's "Elizabeth Taylor", "Biography", "Beauty", "Body", e.t.c, e.t.c. Basically you will get all the scoop you can possibly get on MM! With my collection of MM books, I THOUGHT I knew everything, heard all the quotes she said, all the quotes people said about her. But there's SO much more-and you can only find them in this book. If you are a MM fan/book enthusiast you really don't have a collection until you have this!! The ONLY thing that I didn't like a little was there were some great pics and a lot were small. I was like, "oooh that pic should have been bigger." But that couldn't bring me to give this book 4 stars; it's just too good for that! To sum up this book, Victor even has MM's phone number and social security number under "Numbers"! (Too bad it's of no use now) Get this book now! It is the best Marilyn Monroe book!

5-0 out of 5 stars A very complete look at the legend
The Marilyn Encyclopedia is perhaps the most thorough look at Marilyn Monroe's life available. Every detail imaginable from A-Z is here: where she lived, what her marriages were like, what her favorites were, and almost anything else you could want to know. It also offers an in-depth look at each of her movies, including plot synopsis, reviews, & background. This book is a complete must have for any fan. There are tons of pictures, rare facts, and quotes. Completely worth the price in my opinion.

3-0 out of 5 stars Ted, not so sure
He was really smearing her in this book. He said that she talked dirty and slept with him just to get to her uncle who broke her in the business. He said all this stuff like her uncle slept with her in exchange for pills he could get her later. He told of all the times she talked dirty and said, " I want to sleep my way to the top!". What kind of person would say that? Not Marilyn, Marilyn was innocent and like a frightened child, in a woman's body. She had problems but was loyal to her friends life long. ALl this guy care about was bragging about it and spreading gossip. It's more of a look inside of him, a dirty mind.

1-0 out of 5 stars A book to pass on if you're a Marilyn fan.
This would make a good fiction book... but as a factual book Marilyn it falls very short. I read this out of curiousity from the library, and I cannot tell you how glad I am that I did not buy this. There are so many errors in the timeline and such that I wondered if Mr Jordan did ANY research at all during the writing of this book.

Some of the pictures are cute, but that's the best aspect of the book. If you love Marilyn and are a stickler for facts and the truth- don't bother with this book.

1-0 out of 5 stars Another Attempt to Gain Money and Notoriety at Marilyn's Cost
This is one of the least believable books about the life of Marilyn Monroe, which purports that the author was an intimate lover and friend to MM. By the way, Marilyn's father of record, Martin Edward Mortensen died in 1981 at age 85 of heart failure. The NY Times reported he had in possession a copy of his divorce papers from Gladys and a copy of MM's birth certificate.... Wouldn't it be nice if people would do a little research before they write this stuff and call it a 'memoir'?

If I could rate this a -2, I would. There are many superb biographies of Marilyn available. This isn't one of them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ted Jordan must have stepped on the wrong toes.
It has been several years since I read this book--well, 10 to be honest.Recently I looked it up again, and was appalled to see all of the smearing now on the net and directed at Ted Jordan.Among the most outrageous allegations is that he claimed to have fathered a child with MM.Certainly this claim is nowhere in this book.A more moderate allegation is that she aborted the child.I dont remember this incident either in the book, though I may be wrong here. What is saddest, however, is the claim Ted wrote the book just to capitalize. If this were true, he would have thrown fuel on the conspiracy fire, not done a very effective job of dousing it.This is the one book I have ever read about anything that made me forget any conspiracy theory in this American culture.

I remember the book as being amazingly well crafted for a work apparently written without a ghost helper.I remember being impressed that Ted took the time to write this book more than 20 years after Marilyn's death.I remember its giving the warm, fuzzy feeling that I really was there--not just a voyeur.I remember having the same feeling as Ted when the news of Marilyn's suicide came over my car radio one quiet Sunday morning. Most of all, the book was written with real feeling--a rare commodity in American literature.Even if the whole book is a lie, THIS MAN REALLY CARED.If you want to come away thinking you really understood anyone, this is one of the most satisfying, matter of fact, biographies ever written.Perhaps that is why mainstream Hollywood is so determined to rub it out.Jordan's quiet narration is more compelling than a whole room full of media caterwauling. Some of Jordan's pictures are almost naive in their simplicity.Do not expect to be unreasonably titillated, one brief passage where a 17 year old Marilyn asks Ted for sex on their first date excepted.Thank, Ted Jordan, you for a job extraordinarily well done.Marilyn, "As long as there are men that read and eyes that see--so long lives this, and this gives life to thee."

2-0 out of 5 stars Questionable... Read with a grain of salt.
Ted Jordan may have been, as he claims, the most important man in Marilyn's life. However, he offers very little supporting evidence of this.He tells many interesting stories about Marilyn, and what it was like to make love to her. However, when it comes to illustrating the woman herself, he is somewhat less than generous.According to him, she had absolutely no talent. This is something that anyone who has ever seen Bus Stop or The Misfits knows to be false.Perhaps she did sleep her way to the top, as so many of her generation did.I cannot deny or affirm this. All I know is, for someone who claims to have been Marilyn's best friend, Jordan has not been particularly generous. On the back of the book, he promises a catalogue of Marilyn's strengths and weaknesses.I see plenty of praise, but only in the form of Marilyn's body and sexual prowess. This is not exactly new information. He also attests that Marilyn despised hard work and refused to go to any classes, which is completely against fact.He completely ignores one of the saddest parts of Marilyn's existence; her desire to be a real actress, and her fear that the world was laughing at ehr for her sexuality. She stopped doing films for a period to attend public acting classes, which Jordan makes absolutely no mention of.Jordan seems more concerned with expressing how, if Marilyn had only listened to him in every respect, all would have been better. The book is an expanded outlet for gossip and self-exaltation.What truth may be in it seems slanted.Read with caution, if you must read. ... Product Description
From January through October 2003, a group of individuals engaged in an in-depth discussion of the death of one of the 20th century's most beloved figures, Marilyn Monroe. The result is The DD Group, the highly detailed work of author David Marshall. It chronicles Monroe’s final day and her tragic and puzzling demise.

Using available information including police reports, vintage magazine and newspaper accounts, documentaries and biographies, and correspondence with some of the principals in the case, the group had one purpose—to reconstruct the events of Monroe's last summer and reach an understanding of what likely took place on August 4, 1962.

By verifying sources, considering agendas, and, above all else, applying logic, the DD Group was able to weed through the conflicting and often contradictory reports. Through careful research and study, they arrived at the most comprehensive understanding of the events surrounding Monroe's disturbing death.

5-0 out of 5 stars The DD Group - A 100% Bullseye

The DD Group: An Online Investigation into the Death of Marilyn Monroe by David Marshall is the ultimate clearing-house of facts, data, reports, files, conspiracy theories and opinions - on the death of Marilyn Monroe Saturday August 4, 1962.

If you have read one book about Marilyn Monroe - or read ALL the books - YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK. This is THE cold truth-finding panorama - to its definitive end.

Was Marilyn murdered? Over a dozen different conspiracy theories claim she was murdered - by the Kennedys, for the Kennedys, to destroy the Kennedys, to protect the Kennedys - by the Mob, by her own doctor, by her housekeeper, by the FBI, by the CIA - because she knew about Castro, knew about the Bay of Pigs, knew about Area 51 aliens, knew about......

Can ALL these conflicting claims simultaneously be true?

WHAT HAPPENED?

Is any ONE of these murder theories right? If so, which one?

OR - ARE THEY ALL fabrications, made up by their various proposers eager to jump on the publicity bandwagon of fame and notoriety - or worse, for money?

If you NEED to know the answers to the always-asked questions about Marilyn's death - 'if suicide, why was there no pill residue in Marilyn's stomach?' 'if suicide, why was there no drinking glass in her room to down them with?' 'if suicide, how could the blood levels of Chloral Hydrate and Nembutal be so high?' 'was there really a secret Red Diary?' 'did so-and-so really talk to Marilyn the day she died?' THEN YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK.

Who was Robert Slatzer? Did he really marry Marilyn? Or not? Is Slatzer a credible witness and conduit of real communication from Marilyn over the years and on the last day of her life? OR WAS HE A LIAR?

What about Frank Capell? Milo Speriglio? Jeane Carmen? Jose Bolenos?

Was Marilyn really romantically involved with JFK? With RFK?

Was Bobby Kennedy in L.A. Saturday August 4, 1962 or not? Did he go up to Fifth Helena Drive and visit Marilyn? At what time? Why? What happened?

Most importantly: did Bobby Kennedy or President Kennedy or someone acting for the Kennedys or someone else - really murder Marilyn Monroe?

How do you sort out the endless stream of conflicting witness testimonies since 1962 - through the 1970's, the 1980's, and the 1990's in magazine interviews, TV interviews, in-depth biographer interviews - with their ever-changing stories? With THE DD GROUP.

ALL these questions and dozens more are exhaustively examined by a group of ten investigators - until answers are found. It's all succinctly summarized and organized by David Marshall's extraordinary study which he personally moderated online during 2 years with The Death Discussion Group. THE DD GROUP scrutinizeds every speck of the minutest details of this highly controversial, hotly debated and contested death: the death of Marilyn Monroe on August 4, 1962.

If you have read any of the major biographies of Marilyn Monroe - Mailer, Guiles, Wolfe, Summers, Leaming, Brown & Barham's "Last Take," Spoto, Churchwell - YOU NOW MUST READ "THE DD GROUP."

ALL the biographies - and evidences - are reviewed for you: the FBI files; the Coroner's autopsy report; the many conflicting testimonies given by those who were - or claim to have been with her or in contact August 3rd and 4th.

The 2-year's exhaustive examination and evaluation of ALL the facts declare the final conclusion, as the facts securely dictate: MARILYN MONROE DIED BY SUICIDE.

What happened? READ "THE DD GROUP!"

4-0 out of 5 stars Kennedy brothers contributed to MM's death when she when they ordered MM to stop communicating with them
Although I found DD to be repetitive because of the way the material was presented, I did learn alot of MM's personal life's history, and that she was probably overwhelmed by her personal problems and overdosed on her medications.

5-0 out of 5 stars For The Serious MM-Phile
I couldn't put this book down. Anyone who is seriously interested and familiar with the stories surrounding Marilyn Monroe's death should buy this book. DD started as an online group to cut through the bull and false stories about MM's death and come up with what probably did happen.I won't spoil the ending, but any fan should have this on their shelf.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book!
Great book. If you are interested in theories and thoughts of other Marilyn fans, this is the book to read.

4-0 out of 5 stars An Eye Opener
This book made me re-examine my opinion as to the death of the great Marilyn Monroe. The book was so well researched (by so many), debated and documented. I actually changed my opinion as to the mode of her tragic demise because of it...I still don't believe that MM intended to commit suicide, which correlates to BOTH of the author's final speculations as to how she died, but I am swayed by the opinion that others were (innocently) responsible for her death, due to gross negligence. This negligence made it absolutely necessary to hide the real way MM died. (it saved careers)...Her Dr.'s. had an unknowing hand in her death, and even Mrs. Murray, which would fit in to why she said, "Why, oh why, after all these years, do I have to keep hiding this..." Marilyn did not intentionally commit suicide...That is my opinion after reading this excellent book. Your opinion may be different...That is what is so great about this novel...It leaves room for the reader to formulate their own opinion based upon the facts presented...Read and enjoy! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Not a book but still Fun!
As the other reviewer stated this IS a Journal. It can easily be mistaken for a book as I did. However I was still satisfied as it can be used to write thoughts, notes, etc...Everyone could use a Journal(or just as a notebook). I also love the material the cover is made out of.

3-0 out of 5 stars This is a JOURNAL
I thought this was a journal about Marylin Monroe. But it's an actual JOURNAL (duh!)-meaning blank pages for the buyer to write their own journal. Nice cover photo though-but remember that's the ONLY photo.Cover is also made out of that velvety feeling stuff-great for attracting pet hair or getting lint off of your clothes. So if you are petless with a lot to write about -this book is for you. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun bit of fluff and facts about Marilyn Monroe
This pint-sized book contains a myriad of fun facts about Marilyn Monroe, and some of the films featuring the young starlet. Although there are certainly many other books whose focus is this silver screen goddess, most of them tend to focus largely on the many tragedies of her life. While her troubled life and untimely death are important parts of Marilyn Monroe's overall life story, it isn't always everything.

I appreciate this book as sort of a quick and simple read. It's not the best, all-encompassing book of Marilyn facts and knowledge, but then again, I don't think it was really meant to be. It's tiny, and you can be finished reading it in about 5 minutes (and yes, it's that small), but if that doesn't bother you than it would be a neat little addition for any Marilyn collector.

2-0 out of 5 stars Small in size & importance!
Tiny little book with quotes & quick facts such as "Her film NIAGARA features the longest walk sequence in film history."

NO PICTURES other than the cover. ... Read more
