Book Description
Friendship crosses boundaries and love becomes a triangle. Can Jana learn to trust-through submission? When opportunity knocks, Jana Ryan knows it's time to face her demons and return to the city she ran fast and far away from. Her homecoming isn't exactly what she expects-she finds Lisa, her best friend, in a rather erotic position with the one man Jana has dreamt of since high school. The redheaded beauty is everything Lisa promised Nicolas Marchetti. Jana is sexy and exquisite and he can't wait to sexually dominate both women. The triangle with the gorgeous redhead and beautiful blonde is every man's fantasy. Yet there's something about Jana that makes him want her and her alone. His attraction to her is unsettling-it goes beyond the physical. Only by conquering the trials ahead of them, can Jana and Nicolas find their way into each other's arms. Forever. Warning, this title contains the following: explicit sex, graphic language, f/f/m interaction, foursome and BDSM ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars very good book
I really got into this book. I normally do not care for threesomes but it worked with this story and I could not put it down. It's a keeper for me.

5-0 out of 5 stars A fantastic read!
I really got into this book--a lot. It's got a great story and makes for very sexy reading. (It kept me up late, a lot.) It's nto a typical erotica story, as it delves into threesome territory, but, hey, it's worth a shot, if, like me, you like to read a variety of erotica. I absolutely recommend this one. I also liked: Sex Scenes: Erotica Excerpts from the Novels of Kim Corum, as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lisa's Gift earns 5 Blue Ribbons at Romance Junkies!
The victim of domestic abuse growing up, Jana learned the hard way to depend on and trust no one.Breaking free years ago, Jana has decided to move back home with the help and encouragement of her best friend, Lisa, the only person Jana has ever relied on in the past. However, Jana's trust will be tested more than once, especially where Nicolas Marchetti, Lisa's Dom and Jana's secret high school crush, is concerned.Overwhelmingly attracted to Nicolas, Jana is horrified by her renewed fascination; that is, until Lisa convinces her otherwise.Still wary of betraying the closest and most cherished friend she has ever had, Jana fights her desire for Nicolas.Fate doesn't seem to care because the more Jana fights, the harder she falls.

Nicolas doesn't know or understand why Lisa is so adamant that he like her friend Jana. That is, until he sees her and experiences complete arousal just by breathing the same air as she.He and Lisa have the perfect D/s relationship - no commitment and great sex - but with Jana's arrival, Nicolas finds himself enraptured. It isn't until weeks later that Nicolas realizes what has been going on right under his nose.

Sitting down to read LISA'S GIFT by Mackenzie McKade, I knew that I was in for a good story.I had no idea the plethora of emotions this book would wring from me.Elation, sadness and ultimately joy - LISA'S GIFT pretty much took me full circle.I loved being a witness to Jana's blossoming and tutorage under Nicolas and Lisa.An unwitting hero, Nicolas was the epitome of manhood; good looking, forceful and respectful. His ability to love and care for Jana, as well as Lisa, increased my curiosity about this sort of lifestyle.Nicolas' true love for Jana came through and I sat in wonder watching in satisfaction from the sidelines.

While LISA'S GIFT does have some female sexual interaction, I can not imagine it being portrayed any other way.Beautifully characterized and skillfully written, this story put me in awe of Mackenzie McKade's ability as an author.Ms. McKade never fails to captivate me with her storylines, her characters, and her capacity to make me feel emotions as if I was part of the story. This is one book that I am going to read over and over.

This book was my Recommended Read for April 2007!

Jana has avoided returning to her home for years. Now the only person in the world she trusts, Lisa, has convinced her to come home and face the memories of her childhood abuse.Believing herself finally ready to overcome her fears with the help of her best friend, Jana accepts a new job back home and the offer of a place to stay in Lisa's home.

Jana is totally unprepared to find her teen-age crush, Nicolas Marchetti, in Lisa's bedroom the very night she arrives. Not normally a voyeur, Jana still can't help but watch the scene she stumbles upon. She is even more unprepared when both Nicolas and Lisa invite her to join them!Although shocked, Jana can't stop thinking about it, and finds it harder and harder to resist the methodical seduction staged by Lisa and Nicolas...

Let me say this up front - forget that this is a F/F/M book.Yes, it has erotic content that involves two women, but that is totally not what Lisa's Gift is about.Anyone who skips this book based on preconceived notions of what it might contain will miss the most touching and beautiful story I have read in a very long time, a fact which cements its place as my Recommended Read for April 2007.Mackenzie McKade is already in my list of favorite authors, and this is not the first time she has convinced me to read a book with subject matter outside of the norm for me.Each time, I am more than pleasantly surprised both by what I have read from her and my own reactions to it.

You could remove the explicit scenes from Lisa's Gift and still have a wonderful love story that stands on its own without the sexy bits.Of course, why would we want to do that when they are so well done??LOLThat is, essentially, what this tale is about - love.It is about love that transcends societal boundaries, a selfless love that gives without thought of taking back, a love that fosters trust.

The story had some breathtaking twists.I confess that I figured most of them out earlier in the story, but it did not lessen the impact of the ending when all was revealed.McKade effortlessly peppers the story with clues to the surprise ending, giving readers every chance to anticipate what is coming.

As prepared as I thought I was, I could not help the water works when the ending came.Even now, writing this review several days after finishing the story, I still tear up just thinking about it.

Lisa's Gift is a story that will stay with me for years, and people will talk about it for some time.I would be very surprised if this book does not escalate Mackenzie McKade's writing career to the next level soon.

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended
This is a really great book on watercolor. It is full of wonderful tips and explanations of how to achieve many simple to advanced effects. It also explains why certain colors are better to mix with others for the results you want. It is also amazingly readable. I set it by my reading chair and I am drawn to pick it up and read just for interest. I am learning so much. FYI- I have lots of knowledge about art, but am a beginning to intermediate watercolorist.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book!!!
This book offers great advice on landscape painting so, If you've wanted to paint plein air with watercolors, this is the book for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Really essential
This book contains valuable techniques for the creation of landscape features in watercolor. It is perhaps a bit overwhelming for the absolute beginner, but for anyone who has a little experience with watercolors and is motivated to improve, it's a great book!

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice book to buy but
Its a nice book but if you already have the other book from Gordon Mackenzie, I wouldn't recommend it. Basically half the book almost has the same things.

If you don't have any book from him.... its a nice buy. you will enjoy reading it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fine book to learn from, if you will practice.
I bought the "Watercolorist's Essential Notebook"(WEN) and this "WEN - Landscapes," fearing they would be the same with a few different illustrations.(I was specifically looking for ideas on mountains).I was surprised that the first 20 pages contained the same material, but presented with landscapes theme. The rest of the book had many ideas and suggestions, not just rehashed WEN.There was enough new material to warrant this purchase.I should keep trying the presented techniques, but there was enough to satisfy my desire. For less than the cost of a lesson (I consider shipping/handling the same as using my vehicle to drive to the lesson) I have hours of experimenting ahead of me.The illustrations of the effects of each technique are very good, and the "step by step" illustrations aren't cookie cutter recipes, but suggestions for your own experiments. As a "newwatercolorist" (meaning I haven't sold anything yet, but I am at the point of feeling I now could), I was surprised at how well I took to, and how much I learned from, both WEN books.I would say suitable from the start for beginners, and advanced students to working. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Makes you want a cowboy of your own!
I was very pleasantly surprised at this story. The characters were well developed and the story moved along perfectly. The dramatic bits weren't overdone and the stubbornness of the characters didn't irritate (as it often does with romance/erotica).That's not to say the characters didn't fight, but they admitted when they were wrong and didn't drag it out unnecessarily. The daughter's illness was handled realistically and didn't overshadow the relationship developing between Lacy and Wyatt.
I will definitely be keeping this one and recommending it to anyone wanting a good, hot read. But I won't be lending out my copy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Review by Tammy for Fallen Angel Reviews
Lacy Mason finds it hard to concentrate on her job with the sexy cowboy Wyatt watching her. She knows that this waitress job is the only way to earn enough money to pay for her college tuition and her daughter's medical bills, while having a place to live and eat. Now, if she could only remember why she swore off cowboys for good as she ignores the scorching looks from the cowboy.

Wyatt Anderson is drawn to Lacy from his first glance at her in the High Country Bar, and he is determined to have her. He is used to getting what he wants, and what he wants is Lacy. Wyatt wants to learn what secrets drive Lacy to being so cautious and guarded at times, while seeming so certain and open at others.

Mackenzie McKade has created another fantastic story that totally pulls you into the world she has created. This story has a compelling storyline that is heartfelt and sincere while providing some of the hottest love scenes that you will find anywhere. A Tall, Dark Cowboy is an adventurous read that will leave you spellbound with its sensuality. Lacy is a character to whom readers can relate, with her perfect mix of vulnerability and stubbornness. Wyatt is a strong, self-assured man who shows his warm and gentle side. When these two characters come together in such perfect chemistry, it is sure to leave you wanting more. A Tall, Dark Cowboy is most definitely a Recommended Read.

Linda Howard has won many awards for her outstanding romance novels. This book about the Mackenzie family is no exception. It's been said thatZane Mackenzie can make a woman's toes curl, and Linda Howard goes all out to entrap us once again as the dynasty continues.

Maris, as the only Mackenzie daughter, can charm the wildest horse and the sexiest undercover FBI agent who's on the trail of a killer. However, when he lands in her bed, she doesn't remember what happened or how he got there because she has lost her memory.

With wry humor and well-drawn characters, The Mackenzie Family will keep you turning pages until you've reached the end:

"Absolutely not." The words were flat and implacable. "No way in hell." "You have to." He looked down at her with mingled exasperation and amusement. "Sweetheart, you've been the boss for so long that you've forgotten how to take orders. I'm running this show, not you, and you'll damn well do what I tell you to do, when I tell you to do it, or you're going to find yourself handcuffed and gagged and your sweet little ass stuffed in a closet until this is over." Maris batted her long eyelashes at him. "So you think my ass is sweet, huh?"
If you liked Mackenzie's Pleasure or Mackenzie's Magic, you'll leap atthe chance to own this book. Even if you have never read anything by Linda Howard, you'll be addicted for sure once you get entangled in her characters' feisty web of love, lust, and humor. --Candy Paape ... Read more

I fell in love with Zane Mackenzie! The way Mrs. Howard kept me spellbound from beginning to end really got me interested in her other books.Of all the Mackenzie books, this one is by far the best. The other about Maris was okay, but it is Zane's story that I can read and reread several times!Thank you Linda Howard for introducing me to Zane! Please keep the Mackenzie books coming!

Linda Howard is wonderful and her books are great. Happy reading.

5-0 out of 5 stars Maris was good
Mackenzie's magic is the first and only book by Linda Howard which is translated to finnish. absolutely the best scene is about these five Mackenzie's standing there and watching the Maris husband. Then comes Maryand takes care of the situation. And what do these big guys say: Yes ma'am.Like in the old times at school.

After reading Magic in finnish, I readMackenzie family in english (...and then Kell Sabin, Medina...). Thinkabout Maris. She is got a warrior as a father and as a brother. She can'tfall in love with the ordinary guy, so she finds a FBI-agent. Sure Thebeginning of the book was excellent. "Hi, I am sleeping with an almostnaked hunk in some hotel room, I can't remember a thing. We have stolen ahorse." Then she notices that the hunk wears boxer underwear, nothingwhite in cotton. And knows he is a cop. Absolutely hilarious.

Zane andBarrie fall in love in a day. Characters were good and there were enoughadventure. Zane is a typical alpha-male warrior who wants to protect hiswoman and his child. YESSSSS!

can I give them more stars ;-).

5-0 out of 5 stars Real helpful
This is the first item I've ever written a review for but I found this book so helpful that I feel compelled mention how great it is. Being a new parent was entirely uncharted territory for me and this book made me feel like at least I have a shot at doing a decent job. My 4 year old is fiesty in a lot of ways but this book has enough realistic examples that I feel like I have the tools to deal with virtually any situation that arises. Can't recommend it enough.

5-0 out of 5 stars An amazing, easy-to-read book with advice that works!!!
I cannot stop telling everyone about the greatness of this book!! I bought this book since my daughter was crying every morning when I dropped her off at daycare. This morning routine became so unbearable and I was so frustrated I started questioning myself, the daycare, the teachers etc. After reading only a few chapters, I used the advice given and it worked!! It really helped me to understand her behavior (and mine)The book has plenty of examples of how to talk to a child whether is a 4 year old (my daughter)or older.I was not aware I was being permissive or engaging in "the dance". Although I do not yell at my daughter since I did not want to be a parent who disrespects their child, I was screaming inside when she did not get ready on time or when she hung on my leg in the morning refusing to stay at daycare. This book has allowed my to see my daughters behavior from an outside perspective allowing me to stay calm, and consequently my daughter's behavior is totally different. It has been three weeks since I got the book, my daughter has not cried when I drop her off at daycare since then. She is so cooperative and the teachers cannot believe the change. I bought two other parenting books but the difference is that this book gives clear examples for the various situations of daily life and how to address the child without giving too many options, yet it still allowes them to make their own decisions. I love this book!

4-0 out of 5 stars common sense
This book utilizes common sense when setting limits and disciplining your child. It is full of great examples in implementing the limits.

5-0 out of 5 stars I am not exhausted at the end of the day anymore
I bought this book when I knew there had to be an expert out there who knew better about how to have a happy life without arguing with my kids.My energy was completely liquidated at the end of the day from repeating things, bargaining, arguing and repeating some more and sometimes even giving in.Every time I gave in to my kids, they won and my stomach churned....this had to stop! I was very open for advice, so my attitude made all the difference when reading about how to get my children to behave without yelling, arguing or doing anything that required an energy drain out of me. The results were evident in less than I week (and I hadn't even finished the book by then). The techniques discussed can be applied to all ages and the discretion of the parent is necessary when choosing how to explain things according to the age of your child. I highly recommend this book for a happy family life with no fighting or complaining.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good, solid book.Full of examples.
I checked this book out from my Library, and have to say I was very pleased with the contents.Nothing mind-blowing here, but reinforces (and reminds) of basics.Provides great examples of situations and how to be consistent with follow through, which I sometimes have an issue with.Really usable.I put it on my wishlist so I could easily reference for all the upcoming issues with the kids! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars What to do when the love of your life appears just when you're ready to stop living?
I am a big fan of Mackenzie's work.If you haven't read any of her stories, go now and just do it!Her cowboys are to DIE for! And living in the wild west, I know my cowboys!

But this story really grabbed me hard, separate and apart from the cowboys and from the supernatural aspect. For me, this story was much more about the heart of a woman struggling to decide between two emotional imperatives - grief/vengeance for a murdered child and soul mate love.I don't know how I would handle it or what I would be willing to compromise if someone hurt one of my babies.Watching Fallon try to decide whether to open her heart when she's planning the end of her life to join her child made me appreciate Mackenzie's skill as a writer of really compelling romance stories and her understanding of the "people" she writes about.

This is a must read... plain and simple.Forget categories, just go get this book!!

5-0 out of 5 stars FALLON'S REVENGE is a fast-paced emotional novel that readers will be unable to put down.
Fallon McGregor will give anything to destroy Chavez, the Master Vampire who took her as an immortal slave and tortured then killed her daughter, Christy. She spent a year under his control before he grew careless and she was able to escape.Fallon has successfully evaded him ever sincebut she knows that her luck won't hold out forever. If she's going to kill Chavez before joining her daughter in eternal slumber, she needs a Master Vampire to teach her exactly how to go about bringing about the demise of her tormenter.

Adrian Trask is a Master Vampire but he's nothing like Chavez. It's his job to protect those - living and undead - that enter his territory.Because of an upcoming rodeo a flood of people has arrived in town, including one vampiress who's obviously looking to feed. She's the reason that Adrian is in Little Tavern. He's hunting her. There's no way he can risk her hurting one of the people under his protection. He can't deny his own need for her.Adrian is determined to find a way to ensure that Fallon remains with him - always.

Fallon has lived with fear, anger, hurt, and her need for revenge for so long that she can't imagine a reason to continue to want to live as an immortal.Adrian should simply be a means to an end - feed, learn what she needs to know and then leave. As she spends time with him and his makeshift 'family' she finds a renewed joy in just being a part of their community.Fear of Chavez finding her overshadows everything and at times moving on seems to be the only solution.Adrian vows to protect her but trust doesn't come easy. The only thing he asks in return is that she remain with him.How can she possibly choose between her daughter or the man who snuck in and seized a little chunk of her heart that she thought died?

Mackenzie McKade's FALLON'S REVENGE is a fast-paced emotional novel that readers will be unable to put down.Fallon's emotional upheaval over her daughter's death is sure to touch every woman's heart and bring tears to your eyes.Having personally lost a child under horrific circumstances, I was fully able to appreciate Fallon's wish to follow her daughter into the afterlife.Adrian is just too sexy for words!Face it, the man has had centuries to perfect his potent effect on women and he's definitely not above using it to his advantage. As if that isn't enough, he's a cowboy vampire - completely irresistible.I loved every second of reading this storyline and cried at the end. I'm honestly hoping for a follow up story for some of the other characters who captured my interest and I'd love to know more about what happens with them.

Fallon is searching for a Vampire Master - not to master her, but to teach her how to kill another Master. On the run from the sadistic Vampire Master who murdered her young daughter and turned her into a vampire, she stops in Adrian's town for rest and nourishment.

But once he has tasted Fallon, Adrian is not willing to let her leave - ever - and is willing to do whatever it takes to keep her at his side.

Wow! I could sum up my entire review with that one word. I am completely enthralled by Mackenzie McKade's cowboy vampires! For those of us who love series stories, this one promises opportunities for several more using the characters in this book and tidbits the author has laid in Fallon's Revenge.

Fallon is tortured, simultaneously strong and vulnerable, and absolutely heartbreaking without being pitiful. Any woman, mother or not, would feel her pain at losing her only child by the murderous hands of the vampire who subsequently enslaved her. Fallon knows no peace, with nightmares of the incident, but her pain only serves to strengthen her resolve to rid the world of her Master's evil.

Adrian, while a Vampire Master himself, is the epitome of the heroic cowboy. Noble and protective of everyone in his care, he extends that protection to Fallon immediately. In Adrian, the author has created a hero both strong and caring but also with his own vulnerabilities.

The writing is strong, the plot and subplots are complex yet easy to follow, and both the lead and supporting characters are engaging. This is a book I will definitely be reading again!

It has an interesting storyline and creative characters. The story starts off strong with the promised earl naked inside the lead character's bedrooom and then proceeds to go down hill. I had to make myself finish this book.I skimmed through several passages and eventually skipped a couple of pages just to finish reading this book. The author's characters and plot stagnant and come to a complete crawl after the first few chapters. The book has its moments but does not fit within the historical fiction genre. Some of the events are unrealistic. Robbie and Lizzie the main characters are tiresome. Without some of the secondary characters I probably would not have finished the book at all.

4-0 out of 5 stars cute
I thought the characters were funny and endearing. It was like a slapstick romp through the pages.Unusual to have an inexperienced hero...not many authors lean that way.Overall, enjoyable, but you will definately need to read it with an open mind and not expect it to be historically correct.

2-0 out of 5 stars I was expecting so much more....
The Naked Earl simply does not live up to it's press or promise. Both the title and jacket description alluded to so much more than what was delivered within the pages. The Naked Earl left me cold and wondering if those who write those glowing "must read..." jacket comments actually read the book. It seemed to me as if the sex scenes were written first and then a plot was loosely weaved around those scenes. While the first few pages were indeed captivating, the rest of the book dragged on.I kept reading, hoping that the magic of those first few pages would reappear.I was sadly disappointed.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Naked Earl
I'm not much of a Romance reader (though I read a few, mostly K. Woodiwise) but the "Naked" in the title got me interested.Robbie (is that his Christian name?I don't think anyone called him anything but that as a first name) is and Earl, and loves Lizzie, his best-friend's sister.Lizzie has been in 4 seasons (so she is 20 or 21) and doesn't accepts any proposel of marriage because she is waiting for Robbie to propose.Of course, neither knows the other loves him/her.Robbie has a problem though, and is practically as chaste as the virgin Lizzie. Both attend a house party. There are a lot of secondary characters; one is aunt Bea, who is in her 60's and never married. But she knows more about men then a spinster aunt should know. And it might be a good idea that more authors portray older people having sex. There is the harpy Duchess of Hartford, who hates Lizzie; the Duchess wanted to marry Lizzie's brother, Duke of Alvord, but wasn't able to so she marries another Duke who is freakin' old.The baron who is holding the house party wants to get this Duchess in bed, so I'm surprise that a person who is a villian actually has something good happen to her. Though there is other villians, Felicity, who will do anything to get Robbie to marry her.The other is Andrews, whom Lizzie turned down his proposal.Andrews almost rapes Lizzie in the book. But many of these secondary characters (even main ones) appeared in other books by the same author. The disappointing thing was that in the beggining of the books I thought both Lizzie and Robbie would get caught (he hides himself in Lizzie's room, after Felicity tries to compromise herself with him) and almost get caught again. It takes Lizzie almost getting raped, but caught with her drawers down (as it were) before Robbie proposes.Though I'm curious with what will happen with Aunt Bea.Maybe next book.
The book isn't too agnsty, and most of the book's events take up less then a week (though at the end it takes 1 month for the mains to consumate their marriage). I really hate books that takes months for the mains to get together. Also, I really couldn't tell this was a regency romance, except for the mention of the ton. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wolff and Joe
I thought the premise of this series was fantastic. It deals with bigotry, hate, and love.Reading about Wolff and his son Joe meeting their match in Mary is such a joy. Then knowing what Joe goes on to do with his life is just superb.I really wish that she had gone on to do books on the other brothers.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love LH'sMackenzie Men and Woman ...
Don't miss these installments in the Mackenzie family saga by Linda Howard. Mackenzie's Mountain starts the series off and Mackenzie's Mission follows along seamlessly. Strong passion, strong men and stronger women makes them modern Romantic Fiction at it's best!

These are my all time favorite leisure re-reads!

5-0 out of 5 stars Howard Never Fails to Deliver
Linda Howard writes so wonderfully that you actually feel as if you are physically a part of the story. Very emotional and true page turners. Mackenzie's Mountain and Mackenzie's Mission are some of her best work.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mackenzie's Legacy
I own all books about the Machenzie's. This series is my favorite by far. I have read them over and over so many times I could recite them out loud. I have read many series of books by different authors, but this series is THE BEST. Buy it and read it. You won't be sorry.

5-0 out of 5 stars was a hard to find
I thought this book was great.I read this book in one day.I was impressed to learn that this was the author's first book. When I first tried to buy this book I couldn't find a copy anywhere under twenty bucks. Now I see it starting as low as two dollars. What gives?

1-0 out of 5 stars Stupid
This is just plain Boring with a capital B and Stupid with a capital S. If this is the author's debut novel I hate to see what her next book is like. Yes it's her first novel so I really should giver her a break but this book has nothing to recomend. James is a duke and Richard is after the title and in order to do this he needs to kill James and make it look like a accident. James is sweet but thats about it. She wrote no depth to her characters at all. I found him not the least bit interesting.

And then we have Sarah the oh so boring American who has come to look for her cousin who just happens to be James's friend. Don't you love coincidences. Blah! Sarah was found in a compromising position with James very early on in the book and they then are required to get married but headstrong annoying Sarah says no. And so we go on with her living at James estate I assume to make the story more interesting but it fails to do even that.

And the villian Richard - he was not even a villian, no suspense, no excitment just a couple of hundred pages thrown together to make a stupid book with less than average characters that you care nothing about.

5-0 out of 5 stars Romantic Adventure
The Duke's cousin is crazy and plots his cousin demise.James the Duke of Alvord needs to marry and produce an hire -soon. When he finds Sarah Hamilton from American in his bed he thinks all his problems are solved - or not. Great first novel - off to find more of this author.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great fun in the beginning.....
I have to say, Ms. MacKenzie has a voice. She's very entertaining and fun to read, and if she hadn't had a "ravishment" scene of the heroine by the villain, and then such a quick recovery, I would have given 6 stars if I could.I loved this book.it had so much going for it.I rarely laugh at Regencies.I was laughing at this one.And then...that incident. And such a quick recovery? the next
thing I knew she was over it?I was annoyed, disappointed and a little bit tiffed.I had to wait a long time before I rated this.It was such a 5.And then it was such a 1.In the end, I'm going with 3.I'll check out her next one.Maybe.

2-0 out of 5 stars Save your money, read a library copy
First book in the Naked series.

American Sarah Hamilton promises her dying father to go to her uncle, the Earl of Westbrooke, after her father dies. She goes to England, unchaperoned, to find her uncle, unaware he died a few months previously.

Sarah ends up in bed with James Runyon, Duke of Alvord. They're both naked and compromised. And Sarah's cousin Robbie, the new earl, mistakenly put them there.

James is a war hero, in the market for a wife and has an unjustified rake reputation. He instantly likes Sarah and decides to marry her.But his nasty cousin is trying to kill him to take the title. Now Sarah's in danger also.

This story was ridiculous, from the unchaperoned part to the sleeping naked part (she should have slept in her dirty clothes, for crying out loud!) to the meddlesome aunt and her friend to James - a duke! - not being able to stop his cousin - not a duke! - just to name a few of the ridiculous parts.

But the most unbelievable part was the secret James reveals to Sarah just before they're going to make love. That was a ~WHAT?!?!!!~ moment.Since this was Ms. MacKenzie's first book, I'll cut her a little slack; otherwise it would get 1 star.I felt I should read this because we chose THE NAKED MARQUIS for our reading group book for April.I sincerely hope it's better than this one.

In 1933 Alister MacKenzie put on paper his considerable golfing knowledge. One of the game'smost revered course designers--he conceived Augusta National, site of the Masters, and served thehallowed links of St. Andrews for years as consulting architect--MacKenzie synthesized his thoughts ongolf's history, its equipment, its personalities, and his musings on what makes a great course and whatmakes a great hole, into a manuscript that lay hidden for more than 60 years. Finally available, it stands asone of the most courtly and cultivated treatises ever written on the royal and ancient game. His concepts ofthe psychology of design are as apt today as when he penned them, and his anecdotal spinnings on his owngolfing trials should inspire anyone who's thought of picking up a club.Book Description
Alister MacKenzie was one of golf's greatest architects.  He designed his courses so that players of all skill levels could enjoy the game while still creating fantastic challenges for the most experienced players.  Several of MacKenzie's courses, such as Augusta National, Cypress Point, and Pasatiempo, remain in the top 100 today.  In his "lost" 1933 manuscript, published for the first time in 1995 and now finally available in paperback, MacKenzie leads you through the evolution of golf--from St. Andrews to the modern-day golf course--and shares his insight on great golf holes, the swing, technology and equipment, putting tips, the USGA, the Royal & Ancient, and more.  With fascinating stories about Bobby Jones, Walter Hagen, Gene Sarazen, and many others, The Spirit of St.  Andrews gives valuable lessons for all golfers as well as an intimate portrait of Alister MacKenzie, a true legend of the game. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Musings of a great golf course architect
MacKenzie's "Spirit of St. Andrews" shows that his philosophy of golf course architecture is as relevant today as it was when this was written in the 1930s. The good doctor's writing flows with the charm of that era.

3-0 out of 5 stars Substantial resource on golf in the 1930s
Not to be confused with a book centered on architecture, this, MacKenzie's unpublished and possibly unfinished volume on golf, is a general essay on the game and its facets.

Because MacKenzie is famous for his courses, the obvious assumption is that this would be centered on course design. Rather, it is almost a reflection on what goes in to making a good course versus a bad one, what seperates good golfers from the hacks, and a whole other range of subjects. It even features a chapter on his disection of the golf swing.

For someone looking purely for an architectural perspective, it would be better to look at his other book, Golf Architecture. This, on the other hand, is much more broad ranging. Most will only be interested in the first half, where the focus is on courses, their upkeep, and MacKenzie's personal involvement in the spread of golf. The latter, on the swing and a few random ideas on golf, will likely drag on the reader rather than offering the enlightenment we would hope for.

5-0 out of 5 stars Legendary Architect on Sundry Golf Issues
Lost manuscript now publlished for all of us to hear the thoughts of such an influential figure in our sport's history.Bob Jones wrote of him in the preface:"all his courses that I have played have been interesting; in every instance he has placed interest and enjoyment ahead of difficulty."

Oh, that more modern designers would learn the lesson! He states that even the most emphatic golfer who says he's not interested in beauty is "subconsciously influenced by his surroundings."Easily the designer of some of golf's most influential hole scenes, this guy gives definite hints, e.g. Playing down fairways bordered by straight lines of trees is not only unartistic but makes tedious and uninteresting golf. Many green committees ruin one's handiwork by planting trees like rows of soldiers along the borders of the fairways."

Love the poem he quotes on the analysis of paralysis:The Centipede was happy quite until a toad in fun said "Pray which leg goes over which?"This put his mind in such a pitch he lay distracted in a ditch considering how to run."

5-0 out of 5 stars Buy it and read it now
Great read and great sketches. When asked how he got such interesting, hilly, contoured greens, Dr. M once said, "Employ the biggest fool inthe village and instruct him to make the greens all flat"

Scary howmuch of the comments written in the early part of the century apply totoday's game and course design.Once section about the controversy of theday re: limiting the flight of the ball is exaclt what we are hearingnearly again 70 years later

5-0 out of 5 stars Course Architecture and Maintenance
MacKenzie shares his timeless, and oft forgotten, philosophy on how a course should be designed - for the golfer, but not by the golfer; shaped and, when necessary reworked, by the professional architect, not by the whims of a committee; and finally, playable by all who love the game. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars I'd hoped for better
Book description:

"Mackenzie's Magic" by New York Times Bestselling author Linda Howard
Just in time for the holidays: author Linda Howard's beloved Mackenzies. Meet Maris Mackenzie--and the sexy stranger she woke up to find in her bed! Unfortunately, she had no memory of Alex MacNeil, the previous day...or the prize Thoroughbred she'd apparently stolen...

"Silver Bells" by bestselling writer Debbie Macomber
Celebrate the magic of Christmas with the Manning family.
It wasn't easy for Philip Lark to single-handedly raise his rambunctious teenage daughter. But the girl had hatched a plot to fin her father a wife, and lovely Carrie Weston fit the bill. Philip claimed he wasn't interested in remarriage, but would the magic of the holiday season--and Carrie's wonderful charms--help him change his mind?

"A Wild West Christmas" by Linda Turner
Years ago, Priscilla Rawlings gave Wyatt Chandler her innocence. He repaid her by running out on her. Now he'd come back to the Rawlings ranch for Christmas, and Priscilla had to face the one man who had broken her heart...but whom she had never stopped loving.

And my review:

I knew when I purchased this book that the stories were part of a series each author had written. I hadn't read any of the other books in any of the series, but I didn't let that deter me. Most authors who've produced series have managed to make each book capable of standing on its own. And after all, this was a Christmas romance anthology, and those are my not-so-secret passion. But I'm afraid I was dissapointed by this book.

I wasn't expecting much from Linda Howard's novella, as I have not been impressed by her work in the past. My instincts were correct. Right off the bat, this was a falling-in-lust story (which I've never liked) rather than a falling-in-love story. I have nothing wrong with sexual attraction between characters (in fact, it's necessary for a good romance) but it needs to be handled well. I need to see more motivation for a couple to be together than just wanting to jump each other's bones. The amnesia plot wasn't as well done as I've read in other books. One star.

I had much higher hopes for Debbie Macomber's story. While not very many of her books make it onto my keeper shelf, her stories are usually cute, heartwarming, and sensual without being too explicit - worth it for a one-time read. But this one felt much too rushed. The author touched on the characters without really fleshing them out. I couldn't really see why Carrie should be attracted to Philip, nor why, apart from the fact that she would make a great stepmother, he would want her. I found myself getting bored by the end and had to force myself to finish the story. Two stars. (If you want really good Christmas romance by this author, check out her "Angel" books, including 'Shirley, Goodness and Mercy', 'The Trouble With Angels', 'Touched by Angels', 'Season of Angels' and 'Those Christmas Angels', available at Amazon.com)

Linda Turner's main characters were just not likeable. Priscilla was a sour harpy, and Wyatt was a conceited jerk. The way he spurned her when she was a teenager was utterly unforgivable, yet he justifies it by saying that he did it for her own good. As if taking a barely-at-the-age-of-consent's virginity and then setting it up so that she finds you in the arms of another woman is anything other than reprehensible. I tried to push past this, but the book descended into a silly contrived scene where Priscilla tries to prove that he means nothing to her by kissing him, which of course backfires. Oh brother. I started rolling my eyes at this point. And Wyatt was so full of himself that I wanted to push him into a pile of horse manure. I couldn't even finish this one. One star.

I hate to give such a negative review, but this book just wasn't up to par. I would not recommend buying this book, unless you happen to be a hardcore fan of these authors, and/or want to complete the series collections that these novellas belong to. While any of these stories could stand on its own, (I wasn't confused, even though I didn't read any of the other books in any of the series) I didn't think they were good enough to justify the price of the book.

5-0 out of 5 stars SERIES ADDITIONS -- ALL THREE
The story of Maris Mackenzie should have been full length but the story was excellent in itself [if too short].
Meeting up with the FBI special agent Alex MacNeil and tumbling in love with him in the process of trying to catch horse killers was fascinating.I thoroughly enjoyed the scenes of setting up the sting and the complications.

But most enjoyable of all, of course, was going back to Mackenzie's Mountain and rejoining Wolf and Mary's family.

Note that this is the 4th story in the Mackenzie series with Chance's story following to complete the series.

Also be aware that Debbie Macomber's story is a follow-up of the Manning family series.
And Linda Turner's story is a follow-up to the Wild West series of the Rawlings family - Love these add ons.Just too short.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO ALL especially for family catch-ups.

4-0 out of 5 stars Satisfying
For once, I like all of the authors who contributed to this book.I got it because I wanted to read about Maris McKenzie. It was very satisfying to me.I love the McKenzie family.

Debbie Macomber and Linda Howard also contributed a good story each. The only reason I give this book 4 stars is the stories were too short.I prefer these authors in longer formats.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ilike the books on the Mckinzies, I would like more of them.
The kook on the McKinzies mountain and the mission were just Great ,I also like where they always got the family togeather, it shows much love for each one even Chance, I would like one where Chance finds some one and gets married,

5-0 out of 5 stars I highly recommend each story in this book.
I especially enjoyed Linda Howard's continuation of the Mackenzie family.Maris' story includes all of the elements that make a Linda Howard book so difficlut to put down. The hero was a surprise.A must for this author's fans.Debbie Macomber's "Silver Bells" was one of her better stories and a true pleasure to read. Then Linda Turner added her story to make this one of the best holiday books published for Christmas. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A Dose of Reality
I have read many parenting books, but none were as clear or relevant to my life as this one. As a former teacher, I quickly connected with the need for limits as this author first wrote about for the classroom. He then went on to write this book. I couln't put it down. I am a mom of 1 and 2 year-olds, yet I still found time to read this book.
I love the examples! I have told many friends they need to read this book, but I told them they have to get their own because I want to keep the "tool box" suggestions close for quick reference.
A must read for both compliant and strong willed children!

4-0 out of 5 stars Clear practical advice for parents
I am only 1/3 of the way through the book, but already began implementing its suggestions and seen a sea of change in our household.

If you are raising a feisty, opinionated child, first read "Raising your Spirited Child" and then read this book. I was starting to think I was raising the world's most difficult child (just turned 3), and wondered if there was something really wrong with her. These books have been godsend. I recognized my child on every page, and it was heartening to be assured that there is nothing wrong with her - she is just very strong-willed and spirited. This was a revelation after the first tantrum I observed since reading the first chapter (did not have to wait long - we had these every day). My daughter followed exactly the steps the author described. The relief I felt can only be understood by a parent who worried whether there was seriously something wrong with her child.

"Raising your Spirited Child" is far better in explaining/describing the temperament traits of spirited children. But I found its advice and discipline hints too nebulous and impractical. If my child is dawdling getting dressed, yes, I could suggest that we pretend that she is putting on a space suit, but when I am harried, and need to get out the door, I hardly have any energy left for creativity.

This book gives clear, practical advice that is easy to follow. More importantly, it is like a helpful partner standing behind you, offering support and reassurance. "See, there she goes testing the limits. Will you stay strong and teach her where those limits are, or are you going to cave in to her?"

It is somewhat repetitive, on a point of being annoying. I get it, even without the simplistic analogies the author presents to drive his point home. But, maybe the repetition is needed to the reader a lesson. It is a quick read, and now I am after my husband to read this book. For the record, this is the first book that I am insisting that he should read.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great tips, longer than it needs to be
I got a lot of great information from this book, and using the practices it espouses, I've gone from continually frustrated parent to getting along with my daughter so much better.

The book is so much longer than it needs to be though, the author really examples you to death. Also, the author using a lot of generic praise in his examples, a lot of "good jobs" and stuff; I prefer to use observations and specifics instead of "good job"-ing my kids to death, but that's just a preference difference.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mommy of two boys (4&6)
This book explains the mentality of a strong willed child and gives excellent advice on how to establish and maintain control over situations that occur with a strong willed child.I gained a new understanding and appreciation of my son and we are less combative with each other. I recommended the book to my best friend (whose son is strong-willed and intellectually gifted), and she found it to be an extremely helpful tool as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Advice I've Read
This book was more helpful than any parenting book I've read. We've been struggling with our 5 year old for at least three years. Amazon recommended this book based on the others I'd been buying (six parenting books in about three months!) Thank you, thank you, thank you! My husband and I both agree that this book has helped to bring harmony back to our household. I'm just glad we read it when our daughter was 5 instead of 15! This book saved our family! ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Poory written and painful to read
Sorry.I strongly disagree with the other reviewers. This was my first time reading Sara Mackenzie and it will be the last time.I think one of her sentences, "It made her feel icky" sums up this very poorly written novel. The plot had potential, but the weak level of writing made this book painful to read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Passions of the ghost
This was a awesome book! I have never read Sara Mackenzie before and I was extremly happy when I read this book and found another author that could really write from the heart and with depth beyond just sex. The love scenes were definitly great but what I really liked was the way Amy came across as so human. Rey was what a woman wants yet was just as human as Amy. This is one of many of her books that I will read. I ordered all of her books an hour after I finished reading Passions of the Ghost. She also goes under the name of Sara Bennett. This book is a definite read till two in the morning kind of book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Oh The Passion
Reynald de Mortimer was a powerful marcher Lord from the thirteenth century who died because of a horrid betrayal. The Sorceress between times offers him a chance to put things right. But things have not stayed the same and his castle is now a hotel and it's hosting a medieval fair.Amy Fairweather former con artist now aspiring teacher is forced to help her brother steal an important diamond. But there is "the ghost" who gives her nights new meaning. Can a knight from the past and a not so distressed modern day damsel find a happy ending?

"Passions of the Ghost" is the third title in the Sorceresses romance series.Ms. Mackenzie aka as Sara Bennett had taken the sub-genre of the paranormal added some twists and created a very entertaining series.Even though this is part of a series this was a strong stand alone read and a fine addition to this series.Reynald and Amy are wonderful characters. Both flawed and yet can see the good in the other. I love a good paranormal storyline where it's believable and not overly contrived.Ms. Mackenzie has managed to combine romance and the otherworldly into a page turning read that will entertain romance readers. Sara Mackenzie'sImmortal warrior series, is the absolute best.
She combinesMystery, passion and magic all in one book. Let's not forget, Every woman's dream come true...A knight in shining armor, always ready to save a damsel in distress, whether she knows it or not.

5-0 out of 5 stars Jo from Worcester,MA
Passions of the Ghost was as excellantly written as well as Sara's other two previous novels (of the Immortal Warrior series.) The story line wascompletely believable. The two main characters, Reynald and Amy, just sizzled and complimented each other perfectly. What impressed me was the fact that each of the two lovers admitted numerous flaws all through the book. You will feel their love as you read each chapter. You will laugh. You will feel their pain. You will pray they find happiness. You will NOT be disappointed if you buy this book. The ONLY criticism I have is that from the description of the two main characters, Reynald has,"... white-blond hair, and grey almost colorless eyes,he was well named the Ghost." Amy supposedly had green eyes and red copper hair. Somehow though, take a really good look at the cover of the book and you'll realize the error that I see. Overlook the error though. The book is definetly worth the price you paid and more.DEAR SARA MACKENZIE, COULD WE HAVE MORE OF THESE IMMORTAL WARRIORS COME TO LIFE,PLEASE?! LET'S SAY, 5 OR 6 SHOULD DO IT!!! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A great "prequel" for the TV series
If you're expecting to "see" Archie, Golly, Duncan, et al, they're not around...yet...in this audio version of MacKenzie's novel, which takes place between the two world wars.

Despite a bit of a slow start, the book is a hoot and will definitely get you through a long car trip, or many long commutes! David Rintoul's reading is excellent and never monotonous. You'll get a good flavour of Highland life and traditions and have more than a few laughs.

5-0 out of 5 stars Highland Tale
For anyone familiar with the very popular BBC series Monarch of the Glen, much in this audio book will ring familiar. And, for those unfortunate not to be familiar with the series, the book will be an entree into the world of a Scottish Highland Chieftan of the 20th Century.

The tale takes place in Scotland in the early 1940's at the castle Glenbogle, the ancestral estate of the Clan MacDonald. The patriarch is a stodgy old Highlander trying to make the best of the 20th century, but with his values firmly planted 400 years earlier. There's a bit of everything in here, a love story, a battle, some history as to kilts and clans and highland lore.Quite of lot of Gaelic is spoken and by the end of the story some of it actually starts to sound familiar.

The narrator does an excellent job with the wide cast of characters ranging from Americans, to Brits and Scots.I found myself laughing out loud many times. It was a great "read" on my way to and from work.

A note of caution though for those who have seen the series:There is only a hint of similarity to the series, but don't let the name changes etc turn you off, the story in total could easily have taken place in the Glenbogle we've seen on film. ... Read more

Book Description

Melanie Jones thought she was imagining things. Surely there's not a breathtaking man astride a magnificent black horse racing her sports car on a country road. And he has the nerve to wink at her, just before he vanishes into the night! When he appears to her in solid, sinewy muscle, Melanie realizes he's real . . . and irresistible.

Nearly two centuries ago, Nathaniel Raven was betrayed and murdered by a trusted friend. He now has one opportunity to uncover the secrets of that night, and Melanie is the only woman who can help him. She may be the most infuriating and independent woman he's ever known, but there is no denying the burning passion between them . . . or the lethal danger that has followed him from the past . . .

I don't know what the other nine reviewers on this page have been reading lately, but the books must be sadly lacking if they've given "Secrets of the Highwayman" 5 stars.Hard to believe it was even published.

5-0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL ADVENTURE
I picked up this book yesterday because I liked PASSIONS OF THE GHOST so well, and yes, this one is just as good or even better. The paranormal aspect is wonderful and the romance is lovely. I liked the historical part and very much enjoyed the swirling circumstances. Lots of action, romance, and adventure.

Melanie Jones is a lawyer who is sent to get an old castle and grounds ready for sale. The owner has passed and left everything to charity. She is very stoic and has worked her whole life to still the voices she has heard in her mind.

Nathaniel Raven once owned the estate, but he was shot while holding up a carriage as a highwayman. The circumstances surrounding his death are very sketchy and only his tombstone attests to his life and death.

Because of the injustice of his death he is granted a second chance by the Sorceress of the between-worlds. Not just for him but she also has an interest in the matter. He only has a short time to find out what really happened to him and set the facts of his life straight.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was fast paced, exciting, and different. Very much worth the time and money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Secrets of the Highwayman
I absolutely love this author's books! It really works for me how she mingles a contemporary character with someone from the historical past. Usually Scotland or England, which I like. I end up rooting for the lovers to be together in the end.

1-0 out of 5 stars research, Research, RESEARCH!
That's what this book is lacking.

I find it impossible to believe this author has ever seen any more to the BDSM world that watching "Exit to Eden" with Rosie O'Donnell. Sorry for the mental image.

In the distant future ex-supermodel Chastity is desperate for money. So she does what any woman would do; she prostitutes herself. Reality shows in the future have become gigantic. She signs up for one where she will be "pitted against" a man for a week on a pleasure planet. Er, when did sex become combatative? I'd like to know how someone "wins" at it.

The author declines to demonstrate how in the this book. Instead Chastity is paired with Seth, the man she left at the altar. Bent on revenge he has them assigned to an S&M planet where he wants to use & humiliate her to make her feel what he felt that long ago day.

Here's the sum of the plot: two people who have 0 interest in S&M making half-arsed attempts at trying out roleplaying. Of course they're still desperately in love with each other...but what broke them up is a secret that could tear them apart. And it's the lamest secret ever concieved in a novel. Chastity is pursued by a true Dom who's really sadistic, as well as a dom who's gentle and infatuated with her, and someone is trying to kill her. Or at least they are in the last 20 pages.

The sex scenes made me cringe for many reasons. One, the characters don't really enjoy it. Two they're exceedingly cruel to one another emotionally and I don't believe they really loved each other. Lastly the things they did under the guise of BDSM were either lame or dangerous.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RECREATE ANY LOVE SCENES FROM THIS BOOK

The things Chastity undergoes would cause dislocation of jounts, exposure, dehyrdration, infection, and of course pregancy or STDs by either Seth or one of the other 3 men she plays with.

This is the lamest attamept at BDSM erotica slapped onto a third-rate romance plot and tinged with cardboard Sci-Fi.

If you want to read this go ahead but it bears repeating;

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RECREATE ANY LOVE SCENES FROM THIS BOOK

5-0 out of 5 stars Futuristic reality TV gameshows and BDSM collide
Chastity Ambrose, a well-known model, in desperate need of money, is participating in a sexually explicit game show called Voyeur II. Her competition is none other than the man she'd left at the altar two years ago, Seth Allen.

Seth Allen is the 2104 Astral-ball Champion as well as the new owner of the Los Angeles Annihilators. He still can't figure out why Chastity had left him two years ago. She's the only woman he's truly ever loved and it had devastated him when she left.

Normally, Chastity would never consider going on a game show like Voyeur II. However, she needs the prize money. Having Seth as her competitor makes an already humiliating and degrading experience even worse. Chastity finds herself practically naked on intergalactic television and her challenge is to last a full seven days and six nights as a sex slave in order to win one hundred million dollars. Seth wants vengeance. He thinks he wants nothing more than to wring Chastity's beautiful neck. However, the minute he puts the slave collar on her neck, instead of wishing to strangle her, he finds himself worried that he may put it on too tight.

THE GAME is a highly entertaining story. With reality television shows being what they are, I could easily imagine Voyeur II as the next step in reality TV. Both Seth and Charity are extremely likable characters. Their emotional connection is easily felt. Amazingly, being on this degrading show only seems to bring them closer together. The plot is wonderfully fast paced and keeps you guessing. I was constantly wondering about the reasons for the characters behavior and am still amazed at how it all turned out. THE GAME is Mackenzie McKade's first book with Ellora's Cave and from what I've read, she's an author well worth reading.

Model Chastity Ambrose needs a lot of money fast. Not knowing what else to do, she signs on for an erotic reality game show, with the grand prize of one hundred million dollars. What she did not count on was finding the man she left at the altar two years earlier as her opponent.

Seth Allen has waited a long time for his revenge, and can think of nothing more effective than acting as Chastity's Master at Ecstasy Island, a BDSM pleasure retreat on the planet Zygoman. But being with Chastity again makes vengeance seem less and less important...

When betrayal threatens them both, can they survive with their lives and their hearts intact?

I have rapidly become an increasingly avid fan of MacKenzie McKade's work, and the Ectasy series showcases her talents as well as or better than any of her other work that I have read so far.In Ectsasy Book 1:The Game, McKade has the opportunity to create a universe strictly from her own imagination, and quite adeptly.Never has this author's skill with her extensive vocabulary been more used more effectively than in the way she vividly paints a picturesque landscape of this futuristic world.

Be aware that the story is very intensely BDSM themed.Even with Seth's revenge motive, however, never is Chastity ill-treated by Seth. Those who enjoy explicit ménage scenes will find something more to love about this series, in the form of the three Thorenson brothers, who run the pleasure planet.

The Game rates supernova on the heat scale, and has plenty of plot to support the heat.McKade delivers a well-rounded tale with several villains, countered by several heroes, and loads of suspense, finished off with what is ultimately a heartbreaking love story with a satisfying ending.

Not too long ago, I believed that BDSM themed stories were `not my thing', but it is stories like this that are swiftly changing my mind!

5-0 out of 5 stars BDSM And Superior Writing Are What Make The Game An Outstanding Read!
Chastity Ambrose is a model and a former fiancée of the great 2104 Astral-ball Champion, Seth Allen. Two years ago, Chastity walked away from the altar, thinking she would never see Seth again.Chastity is in need of the funds, so she enters this sexually explicit game show called Voyeur II.She comes face to face with her past, Seth. When he enters the stadium, the fans go wild.Seth is beloved by all the women and envied by the men. Seth is a master showman and he is ready to take on Chastity! This contest is all about master and slave, dominance and submission.A lot of it will be televised for all to see.The real action comes when these two leave the stadium and journey to Ecstasy Island. It is a place were any and all sexual fantasies can come to life. Seth and Chastity heat up this story to a fever pitch!

THE GAME is by Mackenzie McKade. From the moment you are introduced to Seth and Chastity, they step right off the pages, into your heart and mind.Chastity is a spitfire with a heart of gold.Seth truly loves her, but is so hurt, it gives him a hard edge.He is like an animal with her at times. There sexual scenes, are some of the most carnal this reader has ever read. The secondary casts of characters are marvelous.
The Storyline and dialogue are seamless. Even with the sexual foray goingon in this story, here and there a one-liner would take this reader back. What a hoot! When you come to the end of this book, you will be in awe of Ms. McKade's writing talents, especially with this being her first published work. She is right up there with the other great writers in Ellora's Cave's stable of authors. It is a keeper for this reader. When only the HOTTEST sexual scenes will do, along with a great story, then do not miss...THE GAME...This reviewer highly recommends it.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great new author!
In the year 2106, Chastity Ambrose is in desperate need of money, so she enters an erotic reality game show. What she doesn't know is that the show has been rigged so suit Seth Allen - the man she left at the altar two years ago. She will have to submit to him in a BDSM-setting - and he plans to enjoy his revenge to the fullest extent! There is still a lot of attraction between the two, but can they overcome their mutual distrust and the interference of not only the game show-host, who wants Chastity to lose, but also another man who is madly in love with Chastity and would do anything to have her?
Wow - this was not only a steamy book, but I really enjoyed the characters and what happened to them emotionally. Even the minor characters and the world the game show took place in were really interesting. This book was very entertaining and quite impressive, especially for a debut novel. I definitely look forward to more works by this author! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars THE best!
As a fairly new watercolorist, I have purchased many, many books on the subject in an attempt to gain skills, learn techniques, expand my thinking, etc., etc. Some of those books have been helpful, but usually only a page or two of a 60-page book was exactly what I was looking for. In other words, I was disappointed! Long introduction to say that THIS watercolor book exceeded all my expectations!I am oh so happy with it; I will probably use information on every page of this one. The techniques and skills introduced are interesting and fairly easy to execute; the author provides abundant details all along the way. The book has answered so many of my questions about producing sparkling water, distant trees, various types of skies, clouds, fog, using color schemes effectively, and the technique of "fading out" (which I love). And much, much, much more.It is well worth every penny and then some.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice book
I like this book because it not only provides you with lots of knowledge but also encourages you to go away from conventional suggestions and create your own style. Its flow is very nice. Its material has been organized properly and I not only gained knowledge but also enjoyed reading it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect companion for the watercolor artist!
This is THE book that every beginning to intermediate watercolorist must have. I have been studying watercolor for several months, and I learned more from this book than I did in all of my classes combined. The author has a lovely sense of humor, making for a fun read while sharing so many of the tips and tricks he learned from decades of painting and teaching. There are detailed pictures demonstrating his techniques, as well as tips on how to choose paints, paper, and brushes. If you can only afford one book this month, it should be this one! And after you have read this one, check out his other book: "The Watercolorist's Essential Notebook: Landscapes". Yet another fantastic book by this gifted artist and instructor!

5-0 out of 5 stars MacKenzie's the Man
A great book for the beginners.I really appreciate his sharing techniques which he has utilized for many years. Each day every artist should seek to find a new way to do what they do.Mackenzie gives one good ideas and foundational principles.I enjoy reading and utilizing both of his books.

5-0 out of 5 stars Most informative Book for Watercolor
The Watercolorists Essntial Notebook is the finest work on "how-to" that I have ever read. The examples are wonderful and enhance the narrative to the extent that I understood just what to do.The book is well written.I would recommend this book to beginners and experienced watercolor artists alike. ... Description from the back of book:

* I wasn't a fan of the first book in this series but I have to admit that I enjoyed this book much better.I wasn't big on the hero's reasoning on not wanting to fall in love but I overlooked that & tried to focus on the rest.Looking forward to the next 3 in this series.Although I don't recommend Reckless Love I think I could recommend this book without needing to read the first book.It didn't have hardly anything to do with this book. That being a historical book & the rest of the series being contemporary.

4-0 out of 5 stars An Interesting Novel Full of Great Literary Devices
Based on a love story, Fire and Rain is full of history, funny moments, and love conflicts. The story takes place in the "Rocking M:, a ranch out in the Midwest.Luke, a man destined to love and care for his land is the main character of the novel. His history with Carla (his love), is not all that great. On her trip to the Rocking M, Carla is now 21 and reencounters herself with Luke.A few days stay at the ranch results in a whole 2 months stay as the maid and cook around the ranch. It is during this stay, that the reader finds out the history behind the ranch and both Luke and Carla's life. Through Lowell's use of imagery, characterization, and motif, the reader learns of the main character's maturation and love for one another.
Lowell's use of imagery engages the reader in the beauty of the ranch and the characters."Her vibrant blue eyes" and the description of Luke's ruggedness with soft edges helps the reader envision the story.Through this description, the reader learns of qualities of each character, Carla's hard working and perseverance, as well as Luke's focus and self-control.Lowell's use of characterization enhances the characters and evolves with the story to show a mature Carla and a more soft-hearted Luke.Lastly, the motif of the rain and the Rocking M adds to the conflicts they both have because the Rocking M comes to symbolize a prison for Luke and a sentence to unhappiness.Reading about both of their struggles to keep their love alive as well as the ranch was very interesting.I would recommend this book to teenagers who like romance stories as well as those who like to read books for its literary elements.

1-0 out of 5 stars A Great Sucking Sound
This book is totally horrible! The "manly" hero spends most of his times treating the woman he supposedly loves worse than most people treat their worst enemies. The totally gross thing is that she keeps coming back for more--a perfect example of abuse! The guy is unlovable & mean, the girl is pathologically stupid, the whole plot line is the usual stupid Lowell pattern of some cowboy getting the hots for an underage girl, holding off long enough to make sure she's still a virgin, seducing her & getting her pregnant & then the frail flower deciding that her life is complete as long as she gets to stay on the ranch servicing her much older husband (usually at least 10 years older, of course) and being thrilled that she gets to have a baby at an age when most people can't even balance their checkbook. This is the type of novel that a patriarchal Afghanistan warlord would hand out by the dozen to his prospective wives to teach them how real women should act.Eccchhhh!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good book
This is the first in the series. It is a wonderful book, love those Western Love Stories. It is about a woman named Carla who has been in love with her brother's best Friend Luke since she was a teenager. Now she is all grown up and hasn't seen him since he broke her heart at age 14. She ends up losing a bet and has to work for him on his farm for the whole summer. Trying to resist temptation is not easy and Luke loves her, but keeps trying to push her away by being down right rude. It is interesting to see how much they fight to stay away but seem to not be able to.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not one of my favorites...
I was not too impressed with Fire and Rain.I didn't particularly like Luke's attitude towards Carla...he almost seemed cruel. Not exactly what I look for in a good hero.

Some of the issues seemed like they weren't explored enough as well. And some of the things that happened were a little redundant. He built a cradle for the child he would never have? Some might say that's sweet, but in the context of this story, it seemed very predictable.

The book was good, but I have issues with some things.I think her longer novels were written better, but Fire and Rain was average and would recommend people read it only if you are an Elizabeth Lowell fan. ... Read more
