One of my absolute prize possessions
Although it is not a 1st edition that Ben Kingsley reads, it is well worth buying and listening to repeatedly.His voice is perfect for this reading! Lovely.
The Self Realization Fellowship changed a few things in later editions of the book, unfortunately, including how Paramhansa was spelled.. So listen to this a bunch of times like I did and also research what was changed in it, which is very easy to do online, now that you know, and if you buy a book of it than make sure you get the 1st edition.

I word of warning: Swami Kriyananda one of Yogananda's disciples that sells the 1st edition books is No one to follow for very long but the practice of Kriya Yoga is phenomenally powerful..

Yoganandas message is beautiful but of course not revealing of all the secrets. Is ANY?
For that we must look in the direction toward Samael Aun Weor who comes across as very strict and direct but who teaches a more complete path to Self Realization.

I whole heartedly recommend Autobiography of a Yogi for anyone seeking for an amazingly spiritual read.. One of the best ever!

Extremely racist book
Having lived and worked in Jerusalem for four years, I was looking forward to reading this novel set in that intriguing and complex city.It was a huge disappointment--incredibly racist.I expect Kellerman thinks he gets away with it, because the two main characters, a Jewish American and an African American detective, are well-developed and sympathetically drawn.Unfortunately his Arab characters are very superficial, distorted and stereotypical: a knife loving Arab, exploitive of women, duplicitous, Nazi-allied, a horrifically sadistic serial killer.If similar characters had been written about any other ethnic group, a publisher wouldn't have touched it.Really disgustingly racist.

All Jonathan Kellerman's books are good
This is another great book of Jonathan Kellerman's.It doesn't star his usual detective, Alex Delaware, but in one of the books written later, the star of this book meets Alex Delaware.Anyway, you can't go wrong with a book by Jonathan Kellerman.(But his wife Faye is too gory for my taste.)

Not the typical Jonathan Kellerman book
Jonathan Kellerman is one of my favorite authors, so when I started reading The Butcher's Theater I was pretty surprised.This book is not written in typical Jonathan Kellerman style--a quick and easy read that you have trouble putting down.The fact this book was set in Jerusalem was very distracting for me.The author had to spend a lot of copy explaining the cultural nuances, unfamiliar words and terms, the political environment and tensions, the ranks is the Israeli police force, etc.As a result, the storyline itself unfolded way too slowly.I put The Butcher's Theater down and read two other books before going back to it thinking maybe I just wasn't in the right frame of mind the first time.Still, on the second try, I could not get engaged.I don't think ever before in my life I've not finished a book that I started...but, I just can't bring myself to finish this one.

Five Star Thriller
This is my first Jonathan Kellerman novel and believe me, it won't be my last.What a fantastically rivetting thriller!!!Honestly, I found this book very difficult to put down.

The book is set in the holy city of Jerusalem in 1985.A serial sex killer is murdering young Arab women and horribly mutilating their corpses.Inspector Daniel Sharavi, a Yemenite Jew, and his team, is tasked to solve the murders quickly, as they are starting to cause unrest in the city's Arab population. The situation grows ever more volatile and frustrating for the investigating officers.Against the background of the ongoing investigation, Kellerman interlaces the back story of his anonymous psychotic murderer in a way which I found utterly compelling.I cannot remember reading a better portrayal of the mind and development of a sex-killer, and I read dozens of crime fiction/true life crime novels every year.This character truly frightened the bejesus out of me; absolutely masterful and gripping in the extreme.I loved the Jerusalem setting and the characters of the various members of the murder task force and their families.The resolution of the case was exciting and satisfying and left me wanting more of this author.I cannot recommend this novel highly enough to fans of the genre.Absolutely wonderful book, and I now intend to read every book Mr Kellerman has written.I think an obsession has been born! ... A wonderful thing to play in the car
Turn off those in-car dvd players. Take off the ipod head phones. Instead, parents, slap in these cd's and take your kids on a magical trip while driving to the store. The stories in this series are short, and better than sweet. They are interesting, well read, and backed up with beautiful music. The readers are all actors, and the stories so well read your kids will ask you not to turn off the car when you get to where you are going. My favorite - The Tiger and the Brahman read by Ben Kingsley.

Best one!
I like Rabbit Ears, but I have to say this one has been the all time favorite amongst any child I have ever had listen to these.They like the others, but they want to hear this one again. The voices are superb in this one and enough sound effects to keep their attention.

too much music
I was disappointed for two reasons: first too much background music made it difficult to hear the reader; secondly, the writers changed the story.Why try to "improve" upon a classic like the Three Little Pigs??

Great for a long family trip
