4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful if you ignore some of author's remarks
Includes beautiful, vivid full page photos and memorabilia any MJ fan would be delighted to own. However, the author is somewhat biased but if you can look past that it's a great book to own.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not Intended as a Psychological Analysis, but it makes understanding Michael Jackson easier
Although written by one of his teen fans, and given to me as a Christmas present, this book is a lot more than just the normal "pop idol hype" that I thought it would be. The author, rather surprisingly, has made good use of more substantive materials from other books such as "Moonwalk" and "Sound Effects." These have helped round this book out into a rather meaty piece.

While never intended to be either a definitive biography or an in depth psychological analysis of the pop entertainer, augmented with more substantive accounts as it is, this rendition of Michael's life becomes a launching pad for, and leave ample room for "armchair psychologists" like myself to make calculated speculation about how Michael ended up the kind of "cultural freak" he eventually turned out to be. Here is one formula that emerges from the pages and the subtext of this book:

Michael began a grueling career at the age of six, and continued it throughout the rest of his life with only a brief private Jr. High level education at the Walton school, along the way. He along with his other siblings endured mild to severe abuse from their father. But only Michael and La Toya seemed to have suffered identifiable long-term negative effects from it. While La Toya sort of went off the deep end of the mental scale, Michael, as his body changed from teen to adult, discovered that he had no secure anchors or frame of reference for a self-construction project - certainly none that were independent of his entertainment persona and strong enough to sustain a normal personality.

Having grown up under the strict moral and social codes of a Jehovah Witness, and with no sexual experiences to draw on beyond the voyeurism of his father's infidelities, and his older brothers "gang banging" of female fans, at nineteen, Michael had no certifiably robust and independent experiences to call his own. At nineteen, beyond his entertainment career, he was a social blank slate, a deaf and dumb social mute. In such a quandary, it does not take rocket science (or even a degree in psychology) to see that it is not the least bit unusual for one to do as Michael did: He turned in on himself. Michael Jackson became a public recluse wrapped in a cloak of insecurities in plain sight, fixated and obsessed only with the imperfections of his own body. This obsession became his cocoon, his only defense mechanism.

In this vulnerable state and stage of development, his acne, his lack of sexual experiences, having to live according to the strict moral code of a Jehovah Witness, and the fact that his father had teased him about having a big nose, all had a draconian effect on the structuring of an already insecure personality. This desert of raw materials is all that Michael had to work with in developing his own self-concept. It seems that in this state rather than seek help, he punted: Rather than seek the help of his brothers, or psychological support from other places, he regressed into a cocoon he carefully built for himself, a safe haven against his own social incompetence as well as against the grueling demand of becoming an adult all on his own. What he created as a substitute for more normal growth and development was asand castle of Peter Pan like fantasy. And tragically for him (and for us) he remained in this state of "arrested development" for the remainder of his life.

Thus, as he arrived at the "gates of adulthood," in the Hollywood fast lane, Michael Jackson, as a human being, was ill equipped to cope with the truncated and self-fashioned tools he had available to him. He was flying blind as an already damaged human being: a rich, sexual virgin, Jehovah Witness, famous beyond imagination, who hated his father, who did not know how not to eat with his fingers, and who was ill-equipped to cope with even the simplest demands of adult life.

There was no way that Michael could have survived without professional help. But he lacked the intellectual vision to know that he was "damaged goods." His bubble burst with the overdose of injected drugs that killed him. He ran but he couldn't hide. His fantasy world caught up with him, both in the pedophile scandal and the overdose of drugs that killed him. It was a logical end to a tragic world of psychologically induced insecurity and fantasy.Three stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars THOUGHTFUL, PROVACATIVE, INSIGHTFUL...FOR THE TRUE FAN A TRUE TREASURE
For those who are truly interested in an in-depth analysis of the cultural impact of Michael Jackson, this book should not be missed.I loved it because unlike a normal fan tome, Michael Jackson Treasures delves into the effect of an accomplished and singularly creative artist upon world culture. While one other reviewer had trouble with the author, Jason King, suggesting Jackson's guilt without taking a stand or supporting such a stand either way, it should be noted that this is exactly what I wanted to hear; a realistic and unsentimental view of a brilliant, yet troubled artist. If Jackson was a God his accomplishments would be less impressive, but this is a perspective on a man of great contradictions; steely yet fragile and ultimately resilient yet tragic. The memorabilia is a nice touch to enable true fans a closer perspective into the understandably secretive world ofMichael Jackson. At first I thought this merely an attempt to capitalize upon the untimely passing of MJ, but I have to realize that if you're going to buy any book or memorabilia at any time, someone will profit, so at least this book offers bang for the buck and, at most, a momentary transport to a time not long gone by when Michael Jackson ruled as the King of Pop at the top of his game and later in exile. If you're a fan or know one, this book is a must have to add to any Michael Jackson collection.Sure to go up in value as time goes by and this book goes out of print, I went back and bought two so I can keep one pristine.

4-0 out of 5 stars Now this is a Tribute book!
Unlike most books/magazines that claim to be tribute fit for a king, this one is. It's obvious that the writer did his research because through out the book it makes references to other books and quotes from many sources. And to top off all the wonderful things in this book are the posters, postcards, tickets, ect. The only problem I had was that the author made it seem like Mike was guilty without claiming or disclaiming that he was or was not.

2-0 out of 5 stars Another "Vault"?
After viewing some the contents of this book....concert tickets, the patent for the "Smooth Criminal" shoes, the marriage license to Lisa Marie Presley, his Last Will & Testament, etc., this sounds like a repetition of the "Michael Jackson Platinum Edition Collector's Vault", which I already have.It just seems like "more of the same".Sorry. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Hard to get, but worth the wait!!!
I had a very hard time getting this book, but it was very much worth the wait!!!The photo shoot Michael did for Ebony is stunning.I also enjoyed reading what he had to say in his last interview. This book should be considered a collector's item.It was good to finally see a few different photos of Michael and to read his own words.Too many books are being thrown together since he passed with the same old photos and the same old stories. The only reason these people are putting books like this together is to make money off Michael. The Ebony Tribute does not fall into this category. If you are a fan of MJ's you must get this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Tribute
I have read/looked at various tribute magazines to the King of Pop and this one is one of the best.I believe the cover is what grabbed me the most.It was a modern photo of him (not the typical 1980s pics) and he looked good. This photo gave us a review of what to expect inside.I realized this man's greatest achievements and popularity was in the 80s, but he was very active in the later decades. It was nice to read his last interview when he sounded more "real" and mature.I deducted one star for this reason.Ebony seemed to tease me at times. They had these really great small cover photos of MJ, looking very good!It made me want to buy those editions.I believe that may be intentional.Rare photos are rare.I believe Ebony has one of the best quality ones.I also loved the essays or comments from his past collegues. It's sad that Michael Jackson died.I grew up with him.As a child, MJ made me believe I was important, even though I never met him.

5-0 out of 5 stars A beautiful memorial
I loved the ebony tribute to michael, it was great! I would definitely recommend it to anyone whose looking for a good book on his life without all the tabloid crap.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Book!
My review will be simple.............BUY THIS BOOK BEFORE IT GOES OUT OF PRINT......OR YOU WILL MISS OUT ON A VERY BEAUTIFUL TRIBUTE BOOK OF OUR "KING OF POP" :)

5-0 out of 5 stars "We Had Him..Beautiful...Delighting Our Eyes..."
The final footage of "Michael Jackson's: This Is It!" shows the legendary performer standing in a circle with his colleagues at the end of rehearsal, encouraging them, and telling them that they were "bringing love back into the world."
Whatever love the world may have been lacking was restored with the news of Michael's sudden departure from it on June 25, 2009.The unity, the reminiscence over the impact of his life, career, music, and humanitarianism, as well as the grief over one man's loss was more than palpable.
Having been around for all four decades of Michael Jackson's career, I have felta sense of sadness as well as reverence at his passing.I've been surprised at aspects of his life with which I was less familiar, and I've reviewed old footage of him with which I was more familiar in childhood.
Amid the guilded logo, this 100-page tribute comes to life. A photo from his last shoot for "Ebony" greets us, and we see a smashingly clad King of Pop, laughing as he stands with arms folded, and strands of hair shielding one of his beautiful, well-fringed eyes. I had felt pretty alienated when I initially saw the issue featuring photos from that session, thinking that he looked too flamboyant, effeminate, and eccentric, but have since regretted not having kept that issue, and am consequently very appreciative of the fact that this tribute contains his last-known interview.
The frontispiece shows 12-year-old Michael performing at the incipience of his storied career; the end piece shows his announcement of the comeback of which the world would be deprived.
But in between, we review a colorful visual adventure, featuring a charismatic and funkily costumed Michael on Ed Sullivan's stage with his brothers, wowing the crowd.
"Ebony" chairwoman and CEO, Linda Johnson Rice, initiates the remembrances by discussing the person she knew firstly as a highly celebrated 12-year-old peer group member on whom she, like millions, had a schoolgirl crush, and how "Ebony" charted the course of his life and career.
Harriet Cole discusses his final shoot, Reverend Al Sharpton praises the wayMichael shifted America's cultural dynamics(as he also did at MJ's public memorial service), and praised a formidable humanitarian stating:
"Donating hundreds of millions to charity, creating his own non-profit organizations and genuinely caring about state of humanity, Michael will and must be revered for his distinguished and rare character."
We sojourn past the 15 beautifully photographed covers of "Ebony" which Michael graced, view delightful family photos, a photo of the Neverland Ranch, and read about the journey of the impish little protege to the world class icon and humanitarian, courtesy of Suzanne De Passe, Berry Gordy, Aretha Franklin, Quincy Jones( who discusses the singer's taking his pet snakes to the studio with him, proving that, to some extent, he did earn the "weird" badge that was often ascribed to him), Jesse Jackson, who described Michael as "deceptively smart and strong" and as having " a heart full of love", Smokey Robinson, Ne-Yo, and Scott Poulson-Bryant, who had the pleasure of first interviewing Michael as a child at the time the star was rehearsing for the film, "The Wiz", all in counterpoint to Michael's own words.
We see him as the dynamic performer-at one point sharing the stage with his idol and mentor, James Brown-a style icon, and philanthropist. There are playful moments, such as a demure peek at his fans from a balcony, as he wrapped himself in the curtain of his room in a French hotel, and clasping the hand of an elegantly clad girl in Thailand.
I've observed his frequent close proximity to his brother, Marlon, the sibling closest to him in age, in many of the photos.
But the photo of MJ standing atop his SUV to greet well-wishers during his trial is the only major reference made to that controversial chapter of his life;A photo of a 2006 performance in London, in which he is once again surrounded by children as he leads in the singing of "We Are the World" shows the light coming back to his eyes when he could see people still believed in him.
What one is struck by are the photos of his tour of Budapest, which might have been unthinkable under the Cold War conditions of just a few years earlier, and of the photos of his visits in Africa, which always welcomed him.
There is a certain poignancy in the photos of Michael with his children, with their faces shielded from the world, but who are his greatest and most precious legacy.
The photos of those mourning and celebrating his life around the world are doleful, but stirring. It was a time to mourn, a time to dance, and a time to sing.
As the world fast approaches the 30th anniversary of the passing of another musical icon, John Lennon, the words of the fallen Beatle ring true for Michael as well: "And in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love you make."
Michael himself said, "If you enter this world knowing you are loved, and you leave this world knowing the same, then everything that happens in between can be dealt with."
This tribute to the King of Pop is a stirring reminder of why this man inspired love in spades! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars MJ BUYERS BEWARE
This book is extremely misleading and poorly written (have fun trying to count all the grammatical errors). Michael Jackson fans -- BEWARE! This author uses large type and "fills" the book with lyrics from some of MJ's songs (which most everyone already knows by heart), in addition to various spiritual quotes. Amidst all this filler is the main point of the book which is to discuss this author's religious beliefs. Occasionally, the reader is told about something vague and questionable about her conversations/experiences with MJ on the other side (him flying in the galaxy or picking flowers). The most perplexing thing about this book is that, for some reason, the author was needed to "assist" MJ in his transition despite the fact that Jesus Christ himself makes an appearance with MJ and seems to have things under control (sigh). This book gives very little insight into MJ's passing but rather is intent on impressing on the reader the author's belief that life (here and after death) is difficult and full of suffering because, according to ancient religious beliefs, such sundry bad things are purifying and beneficial for us all (sigh again). MJ fans, Michael would not want you to waste your money on this rubbish like I did. Donate it to one of his favorite charities instead. I will probably copy all of this in my review(s) of all other Michael Jackson books by this disingenuous author since her other MJ books are filled with the same rubbish.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not so impressed...
Let me start out by saying that I am a true believer in the afterlife. I also think that there are some of us here on Earth that are gifted with the ability to communicate with those who have crossed over.
Although this book does give insight into the afterlife and out-of-body travel, it came across as a story over anything else. The more I read, the more unconvincing the author's words were. In my opinion, this is just an attempt to gain some popularity by using an iconic name (Michael Jackson). Another thing that troubled me, was that the author added her own 2 cents to each and every chapter within the series.
Without a doubt, it is beautifully written, but I would not recommend this book to MJ fans, or even people who are interested in the afterlife. I do not feel that it is a reliable source, and I found myself skipping through most of the book to avoid pages of religious exerts from the bible.

1-0 out of 5 stars Please, do not buy it !!!
I couldn't continue reading this... book. I couldn't understand what is that about. It's something about MJ appearing to this person(after he's dead) and saying he has a task or message to the world and everything with the approval of Jesus. And it looks like she has Jesus talking to her about this message . And I couldn't understand so I stop reading. The "lone star" I rated is for the photos and the name of MJ. And I got the two of them, and I don't have the return coupon ... am I stuck with them?

5-0 out of 5 stars Michael Jackson ?

5-0 out of 5 stars Michael Jackson & Marilynn Hughes
I have read many books on death and dying, near-death and out-of-body experiences by many various authors who had died and returned or came close to it and came back to write about it and those authors who actually do "spirit work" while out of body. These authors wrote about either helping those souls on the "Other Side"or have seen these helpers. These special helpers work either alone or with others or with angels.Marilynn Hughes is one of those very precious spiritual helpers and is likened to that of Robert A. Monroe, who established "The Monroe Institute" where others may learn how to go consciously out-of-body and be helpers to those souls who have passed.I would like to add that we are all spirits - we are just occupying a body while living on this Earth with a day-to-day consciousness that is very restricted and limited, except for those who have a higher consciousness.

While Marilynn was "out and about" Michael Jackson came to her because he felt his life paralleled that of Marilynn's in many ways, even having similar health issues regarding Lupus.Plus, Marilynn had lots of practice writing books. Her books about Michael Jackson's Afterlife experiences are fascinating and heartfelt, and is a "must read."The most important message that Michael wants to get across to the people is how to heal the world and mend the family structure, and at the same time Marilynn writes about the "real" Michael in spirit. He had a very trying, lonely and often times unhappy life while on this Earth; but it is very comforting to learn that he is healing and is very happy and in very good company in the higher dimensions.Someday he will be joined with all his loved ones and family no matter what their religion or belief system might be.God, Jesus and those on High love unconditionally.

I had started reading Marilynn's books since 1991 which began with "Odysseys of Light" wherein she talks about the "Other Side/Heaven/Spirit World" and helping souls, which are included in so many of her books following 1991.Her books were very comforting to me after the deaths of my mother, father and brother.I can tell you whole-heartedly that Marilynn Hughes is the "real McCoy" and very credible, and I thank her for her unceasing dedication and devotion in working with the Divine and in helping so many souls, both in the Spirit World and in the physical. She has sacrificed and endured much through her pain of Lupus and other health issues in helping to bring Light to the many dimensions and realms.

God Bless Marilynn with Love, Pat ;^)*
P.S.
I was watching "My Friend Michael Jackson:Uri's (Geller) Story" on the TV Guide channel some months ago when Uri revealed an important fact about MJ.Uri hypnotized Michael because MJ wanted to gain more mind power to stop eating junk foods. But while Michael was in trance Uri asked Michael questions as to whether those accusations were true.Uri admitted that he had a streak of suspicion, so he asked, "Michael, did you in any way touch a child inappropriately?"Michael quickly answered, "No!I would never do that!"Uri also asked, "Why did you pay off the boy's family?"Michael answered, "Because I had enough.I couldn't take it any more."

So with that, Uri knew that Michael was without a doubt innocent, saying, "This was a private validation that this poor man is innocent."Michael while living never knew that he was questioned under hypnosis.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst Book Ever!!!
The author is so out of touch with reality. This book is an act of revenge. It is filled with lies and inaccurate information. Please do not purchase this Trash. These HATERS need to stop spreading propaganda!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Most one stars are rabid Jackson fans
It's interesting to note that the one review spamming of this book (and any other book that describes MJ in a less than glowing light) are mostly by rabid MJ fans, many it looks like after his death. They just can't stand to hear anything bad about the guy regardless of his own actions.

Make no mistake, while the prose is often sensational and there is an obvious effort to clear Jones of any conspiracy with the molestation charges,it still makes for an interesting read.MJ was no angel sent from God.There had been rumors of prescription drug abuse for years before his heart attack. Those bizarre stories about a hyperbaric chamber and Joseph Merrick's bones?Lies planted in the press at the request of Michael(yes,he actually wanted his life to be "the greatest show on earth").Ironic considering his lamentations about the media having a conspiracy against him.I guess when he could no longer control the press is when the conspiracy started.

When Jones was fired he was left high and dry,no retirement package,no severance pay, nothing.Imagine if your employer did this to you after decades of service and like Jones, you were forced to go on assistance.A strange move considering all that Jones had seen go on in Camp Michael through the years. Paying for a curse performed by a Voodoo priest so that MJ's enemies in the entertainment industry are killed, marrying Debbie Rowe only at the behest of a powerful financial partner,a constant parade of "little friends",the secret chamber decorated as a child's bedroom, financial excess and woes, and lawsuit after lawsuit after lawsuit, all of this sensationalistic stuff would be hard to swallow....if it weren't about Michael Jackson.I highly suspect that Jones was actually holding back and knows more about MJ's drug abuse and conduct with his "little friends" than he let on in this book. Why?Probably because he didn't want to incriminate himself with the criminal investigation happening at the time.

Now I'm going to sit back and watch the replies claiming I'm ignorant and am sheeplike enough to believe anything the media tells me......... by people who eagerly swallow everything MJ had told them about himself throughout the years.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Believe It
Bob said himself in court he didn't even spend alot of time at Neverland and didn't see Mj as often as people think he did. Also the book was all over the place! I mean damn who put this book together. He was jumping from kid to kid and couldn't even keep the names together. This was nothing more than a book to make MJ look bad by someone he fired.

1-0 out of 5 stars low blow
the authors were licking their wounds by writing this book. Even though
michael's skin is white he's still an african american and he claims that he is. He's not ashamed of his race and the authors portray that he's a racist, thus the mask.
Of the many people that are extorting windfalls from these various tell all books, this author is no exception. Maybe he made some retirement money as a result but it wasn't accurate, sounding like vengeance.

5-0 out of 5 stars MJ's World Exposed in Raw
The Man Behind the Mask is so befitting for its content. There is truth to it. Veritas. I am a fan of MJ and always will; but the man has flaws like everyone. No one is perfect. We should not paint him as flawless. If we were to do that, then we are not in truth within ourselves. M. Bob Jones said too much... because I love MJ, I refused to believe these raw discoveries in the book. What I was appalled about was the discovery of paymens made in millions and diamonds to Ms. Elizabeth Taylor to accompany Michael to certain functions. While In the public eye, we were made to believe that Ms. Taylor, whom I am in love with by the way, was very sympathetic to Michael's multitude of torments was showing him comfort and support. O shame! Shame! Shame! It boils down to how much money and gifts Michael was willing to spend. Michael bought his friends that's what I learned from the book, all of them he purchased over million dollar gifts for.Shame! Shame!!! But yet, I probably woud do same, to show I love my friends.

The Man in the Mirror is another look of the icon's secret world and only Bob Jones and few others can make that claim. I am not so sure if mr. Jones would have written the book if he wasn't let go the way he did, but as I once learned from law school contracts, families sue each other for less reasons in court and of course for money and not keeping promises. Mr. Bob Jones was a father figure,( he believed) for Michael. He knew little Micheal, his siblings and the Jackson family from the days of Motown.

I am not going to go over this to check grammar and spelling, have no time, but this is what I got from the book. It's RAW and leaves you in shock, at least enough to question the man behind the mask. By the way, I am a Michael Jackson Tribute Artist. I love the man. I love him. Product Description
I wrote this book to show my love, honor, and respect for Michael. I believe we are all ethereal creatures in material bodies, biologically electrical in nature. Michael used the term "divine union" and I love it. I use many sources such as: the Bible, Egyptian lore, Biblical and Traditional Numerology, Astrology, evolution of spirit in our society, writings on Archangel Michael, and Michael's life, to outline and prove His true divine nature. Michael was open, unique, curious, fearless, and loving, as children are. He wore His heart on His sleeve, as children do. He was just as easily hurt and mistreated as children can be. He had the ancient soul of an angel with the heart of a child. In order to live a spiritually enlightened, fully enriched life, a person must find meaning, love, and peace. I have always had these in my life because I have always had Michael in my life. What I outline in this book are no coincidences. They all form a pattern; a beat; a rhythm. That rhythm is the music of the spheres, of Heaven, of the universe. Michael knew this and He tried to bring everyone together to sway as one..... one family under love. With His songs and dances He captured the world's attention. We let Him into our hearts where He planted the seeds of love. We watched Him channel the white, hot, energy of God's love. This incredible energy is what we were all driven to love and admire. Michael was God's chosen messenger for our modern times and He wanted us to understand we were all sisters and brothers, all children of God. His strong, shining, spirit will live forever within the heart of each of us. He said, "We were never separate, you and I." If you read this book with an open heart and open mind, not presuming to know God's will, I am sure you will feel immense love and brilliant surprise! It's all for love....... L~O~V~E ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars MICHAEL JACKSON
THIS BOOK IS GREAT!!! I KNEW FROM THE START THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING VERY SPECIAL ABOUT HIM. HE WAS LIKE A STAR COMING DOWN FROM HEAVEN. YOU COULD FEEL HIS ENERGY. HE WAS UNIQUE, CURIOUS, FEARLESS, SHY AND LOVING, AS CHILDREN ARE. HE WAS JUST AS EASILY HURT AND MISTREATED AS CHILDREN CAN BE. MICHEAL HAD A HEART OF A CHILD, HE WAS SENT HERE TO GIVE US THE MUSIC OF THE UNIVERSE TO BRING US ALL TOGETHER AS ONE, AS GOD WANTED. HIS STRONG, SHINING, SPIRIT WILL LIVE FOREVER WITHIN THE HEART OF EACH OF US WHO LOVED HIM AND THOSE WHO HATED HIM...YOU MISSED OUT. MAY HE REST IN PEACE!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Beatuitful Book
Easy read as the words are in big print. The book is all L.O.V.E for Michael. Worth your time.

5-0 out of 5 stars AMAZING and SO INSIGHTFUL!
I agree, completely, with the writer of this book. Michael was more than a mere man. I believe he was sent here by God. I believe he was/is an Angel, or a messenger from God. I, like the author, did not know Michael, never saw a concert, didn't have posters on my wall, didn't really listen to his music at all through out my life. I knew him more as a member of the Jackson 5. I always liked his music I just was never a person who listened to the radio or stereo. I did watch him on award shows and specials and I always felt that he was such a sweet, loving person. He was so humble and so shy. But when he got on stage he was a powerhouse. Truthfully this was the extent of my knowledge of this great man. But yet, the day he died, I wanted to die too. During his televised memorial I cried like I've never cried before. Even more than when my own mother died. Why did, and why do, I feel this way? Michael has been physically gone for over a year now and I still cry. I, like so many others, have spent this year researching and learning more about this amazing person. I hurt more today than when he died because I now realize all of the pain he endured, and yet, he STILL tried to spread love and Still tried to unite all of us. This man was christlike. He was so misunderstood. He was crucified. Admittedly, I am one who believes Michael was heaven sent. I do believe in God but all I know of Jesus is from a book. I don't know that he really existed. I DO know Michael Jackson existed. And I do know he loved us ALL and tried hard to help and heal this world. Michael did have his faults because he was human. But, for the most part, he was made with purity, innocence, love and a giving heart. Jesus was crucified(according to the Bible) when he tried to tell the truth. Michael has been telling the truth for decades and we(society/media)crucified him. I am 54 and I will spend the rest of my life doing whatever I can to make sure people know, more specifically children, the love that Michael Jackson had for people all over the world and the love he had for this earth. Just think...if Jesus was/is real and if Michael was the second coming of Jesus...we BLEW IT with both of them. Nay sayers, don't laugh or don't scoff. Just ask yourself What If???

3-0 out of 5 stars Sophomoric writing
Lacking convincing or well-organized evidence, if I hadn't already been inclined to believe this writer's premise, the sophomoric writing style and overuse of superlatives (OMG!) would have deterred me from even considering it.I wish some decent editing would have been done to this book, preferably by someone with a real background in Aquarian (New Age) or religious subjects and a less histrionic bent.

3-0 out of 5 stars complications handled well by Amazon
The book is good, but is mostly personal observations. I like any book that speaks of Michael's goodness.

The book arrived in perfect condition, but was apparently lost in the mail with the first mailing. Amazon responded very quickly when I let them know, and shipped another.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great memories, but not all accurate
This is a fun and creative presentation of Michael Jackson's life and musical history that I think all MJ fans would like to have. However, with all of the scrapbook-type material that makes this volume unique, as has been previously written in other reviews, it has to be said that long-time MJ fans will be very disappointed to see that many basic facts are actually innacurate. I can understand the premise, and the need to get the book out to his fans and the many who admired his workfollowing the tragic events of MJ's death, but one would think that editors would be a bit more cautious and thorough in their fact checking before publishing and asking fans to pay for a volume that commemorates the facts of his life (example: a photo caption mistakenly identifies Michael's brother as Marlon when the photo is in fact of brother Randy). If you know MJ's work, you'll catch the innacuracies and move on, albeit disappointed. If you are not a long-time fan, you probably won't care about the innacuracies because the overall presenation is good. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Worth it for the covers, not much else
As the title suggests, this comic is worth the money to have the great multiple covers available . As far as the story and actually art within the book its lackluster all the way around. The story of mike's life is told by some generic jiminy cricket type character. The panels show Him throughout his life from Jackson 5 to this is it but most panels contain barely recognizable caricatures of mj. Artwork wouldn't be so bad had the bug been erased and replaced with normal 3rd person narrative. ... Read more

Review By Katrina-Kasey Wheeler, Pop Media Examiner
Barry Gordy writes in the introduction for the newly re-released Michael Jackson memoir, ‘Moonwalk’: “Michael Jackson was not an artist who comes along once in a decade, a generation, or a lifetime. He was an artist who comes along only once, period. He was the consummate student. He studied the greats and became greater. He raised the bar and then BROKE the bar.” This quote captures exactly how Michael Jackson’s fans feel about him, while the world adjusts to his physical absence, his music will live on through his fans. Michael Jackson said: “Music has been my outlet, my gift to all of the lovers in this world. Through it, my music, I know I will live forever” and he was absolutely right. “Michael Jackson for the Fans” released by Wright Book Publishing is a beautiful materialization chronicling the life and achievements of the King of Pop – a wonderful way for the fans to remember him by. The tribute is a series of photographs from his album, film sets, concerts and much more. There are also artistic renderings and the lyrics from all of his albums. Also contained in the book are facts about MJ that are of interest to fans – trivia. The tribute provides a detailed history of Jackson’s countless awards and accomplishments bestowed to him as the greatest entertainer that the world has ever known. The tribute highlights his many contributions to humanitarian efforts and the numerous charities which he donated to as well as his legendary style that defined an era. “Michael Jackson for the Fans” is a book like no other, a tribute that celebrates Michael Jackson’s life, and does so for the fans that he loved and who loved him greatly in return. This is a tribute that every fan must have in their collection. It is unlike anything currently seen in stores. Another distinguishing characteristic that sets this tribute apart from others is that everything in this book is positive and uplifting, fitting for Michael Jackson’s true fans. “Michael Jackson for the Fans” is a tribute that captures the essence of Michael Jackson – the performer, the humanitarian. It was created with love and a sense of knowing what the fans would most identify with and want to see in a tribute to Michael Jackson. For innumerable people around the world, it is anything but easy to accept Michael Jackson’s passing, but knowing that his legacy of music, love and philanthropy will live forever, makes the loss somewhat

2-0 out of 5 stars Nothing new and has innacurate info
The best part of this volume are the lyrics to all of Michael Jackson's solo songs from Off the Wall to Invincible (although some of the lyrics are wrong, they still make for a nice collection here). There are some great photos, of course, but 97% of them we have seem before. The biggest dissapointment for fans with be the innacurate information that is written here - as if we don't have enough of that already. There are not many mistakes, granted, but some are glaring, such as twice claiming that Michael Jackson converted to Islam, which as any of his fans know, is absolutely not true. If you collect MJ volumes, you'll probably want this one too, but you won't be investing in anything great.

2-0 out of 5 stars not fantastic
I was very disappointed in this product. the photos were of poor quality, the pages where the songs lyrics were printed on were so dark that they could not be read. I believe the fans deserve better.

3-0 out of 5 stars MJ
I'm glad to add this to my collection but I was a little disappointed. There were numerous grammatical errors. The proof reader didn't do a very good job.The content really wasn't anything I don't already have/know.Pictures were OK.

5-0 out of 5 stars This Fan is Really Impressed!
This book is beautiful. I love it and would suggest it to anyone who loves Michael the way I do. It is well worth the money!

5-0 out of 5 stars Unique and Detailed
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I was skeptical about buying it since from a self publishing company but the book is amazing. It has all the lyrics to Michael's songs with photos I haven't seen. Many abeer sophisticate is surprised by the diversity, individuality and ubiquity of Belgian beer. Here, beer expert Michael Jackson enthusiastically discusses the history and inner workings of this quiet, quirky brewing behemoth of Belgium. He explains the origins of manstic brewing, the good fortune of spiders on Lambic breweries, the reasoning behind using orange peels, coriander seeds and stale hops in the brewing process. Thorough tasting notes are oncluded, providing a reference point for the reader's own beer hunting. Fully revised with a brand new layout and 300 more photographs than previous editions, this book contains a list of addresses of the most important Belgian brewers, plus all the practical information on brewery visits, overnight accommodation and local restaurants and eateries.Amazon.com Review
Belgium must be Michael Jackson's idea of heaven. Thediversity, individuality, and ubiquity of beer in that countryastounds even the beer sophisticate. Belgians lay claim to dozens ofbrewing styles that, motley as they are, read like a royal registry ofbeer: Lambics, Abbey Ales, Belgian Whites, Strong Golden Ales,Trappist Ales, Belgian Browns. Consider the Lambic brewer's "windthrough the rafters" approach, in which wild yeast and airborne bacteriaare responsible for the fermentation process and the otherworldlyflavor characteristics of the final product. The brewing style is sodependent on the microflora of the greater Brussels area that itcannot be successfully duplicated anywhere else in the world.

Jackson exposes the history and inner workings of this quiet, quirkybrewing behemoth with characteristic thoroughness and enthusiasm. Welearn the origins of monastic brewing, the good fortune of spiders inLambic breweries, and the reasoning behind using orange peels, coriander seeds, and three years' worth of stale hops in the brewingprocess. Ample tasting notes of commercial Belgian products--fromthose famous worldwide to those available only locally--provide areference point for the reader's own beer hunting.

A few bottles ofBelgian brew and a copy of Great Beers of Belgium are as closeto a brewing tour of Belgium one can get, short of visiting the countryitself. Such armchair exploration, with Jackson as a guide, may bejust the revelation that makes a physical trip irresistible. --ToddGehman ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars If this is Heaven, it must be Belgium.
I've loved Belgian beers for years, but never truly understood them fully until now. Where do you begin to classify them? To choose one to drink? Michael Jackson shows you how. From the ancient beginning of the brewing of Belgian beer, to now, as you smell, taste, and swallow, Michael Jackson takes you through the process. This is education in the most delightful way. Great photographs, delightful anecdotes,You almost feel you are on a stool beside him. My wife, who is Belgian born, loved the insights into her native land and traditions. If you can only buy one book on beer, this must be it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Yum!
This is a great book if you love belgian beer.So many great pictures and chapters to browse through on a cold winter night by the fire with a bottle of aged Westmalle tripel or perhaps a Kwak.Very thorough, he obviouslyspent a lot of time "researching" his topic!

Michael Jackson belies his English heritage to write perhaps the best Belgian beer book in existance. More than just tasting notes, he describes his visits to the breweries, his discussions with the brewers, the smells, the sounds, everything you need to feel like you are there! A prizedaddition to any library.

5-0 out of 5 stars As good as the beers it discusses.

5-0 out of 5 stars Totally Tragic
This book was an eye opener to the inside of the entainment industry. It left with with questions about our legal system and the ethics of those who dealt with Michael. It seems that M.J.'s life was tragically cut off by greed and those only seeking how much they could profit off him in life and now death.I don't understand why the lawyers involved aren't prosecuted. The book was informative as well as entertaining.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Revealing Account
I thank Mr Rowe for recording the details as he has in this book. His insight is invaluable, but will the powers that be take it into account? Please be careful Mr Rowe.Yes, how DOES a Court accept a Last Will And Testament which bears no witness signatures? This is only 1 of the glaring anomolies he points out.I do not think we will ever see justice in this case, as the System is so, so corrupt."The American Dream" itself is corrupt, has corrupted many. What a tragedy it is that has been perpetrated on Michael Jackson!!! Those in charge of MJ's Estate are most likely very busy at this moment devising a scheme to separate those young children from what is rightfully theirs. Makes me feel so sad...

4-0 out of 5 stars Wow....but....
After reading this Ebook I am left with mixed emotions. Mr Rowe is writing from his perspective and laid out some interesting facts but I have more questions. His breakdown of the AEG contract is a jaw dropper and almost unbelievable. If that is a authentic copy of the contract all I can say is damn!!!! I will add that I am not in the entertainment business so I don't have personal knowledge of what a typical contract would consist of. Also, I have questions for Jermaine who introduced MJJ to Thome. How Jermaine sleeps at night knowing he brought a man into his brother's life that set him up is beyond me. This all seems sooooo surreal, truth may be stranger than fiction. For those following MJJ's death you may gain further insight.... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars As good as the Album !
I highly recommend this book, Beautiful photos and interesting facts. A must have of any Jackson fan. Will not dissapoint.

5-0 out of 5 stars It is a shame that US residents have to order this book
from Amazon in the UK, France or Germany to get it.I ordered from Amazon UK.

Why does Amazon.com not have this book in stock? Amazon UK costs more than the US Amazon, plus the shipping times are longer and I have to pay for shipping, rather than use the Amazon Prime I have paid for.

I also had to order Dancing the Dream by Michael Jackson from Amazon UK.This is crazy how the fans in the United States cannot get easy access to books written by Michael Jackson!

When is this going to change! I love Amazon, but enough is enough. Support Michael Jackson in the US for goodness sake!

**UPDATE: As of late 2009, Amazon finally sells the product on the US site. It is a great book! Buy it!

5-0 out of 5 stars The best selling album for all time from the King of Pop
A marvellous album with great songs, and tunes. Though I have missed the track called "Hot Street" which was meant to be on the original album, but unfortunately did not make the final cut.

4-0 out of 5 stars A- Great pictures great stories (like how did the Beat It Jacket come about)
Okay so I got this book and woooowww it has a slide cover to it like on some dvds. That was cool, alot of the pictures have been restored or they just look better than what I remember seeing it (from the internet) so that was kinda cool. I loved the interviews from everyone from Rod Temperton, Quincy Jones, Rick Baker (makeup-Thriller) dancers on set, directors, artists (new-Beyonce, Usher, etc and older), So basically it's a lot of stuff from the Thriller period (though there are a couple of pictures from other tours used for Billie Jean)

Sections mostly discussed The three videos, Victory tour, We Are the World

There's a section at the end on the impact of Thriller (I.E.- people using soundbites of songs- Rihanna, you can see pic of Indian guy doign the Thriller, Thriller from that prison. Wowo i didn't see the guy in a thriller jacket i just saw all orange. so that was a treat) Missy Elliot in the spray painted jacket of a Rock With You Mike (that's from the BET awards. I remember that, that jacket was HOTTTTTTTT, so was Bjork's dress but they didn't show her dress.

Pros-

1)Pictures-new, some rare, some just repolished (I.E. you get some of the blowup versions of the little pictures in the History album booklet. My favorite was of Michael in the werewolf cotume. IT's just beautifully done)

2) The photo concept and story behind the photoshoot of the Thriller album cover. Why was he in a white suit you ask? (BUY THE BOOK)

Why a tiger (OH MY GOSH SO I THINK THEY HAVE SOME PICTURES OF THE LITTLE BABY TIGER ALL GROWN UP!!!!! THAT WAS AWESOME)

3) Couple of rare pics (some blown up, which was awesome)

4) Super rare pic of Michael on the Bad tour in the second leg "Thriller Jacket" wow didn't know there were beads/crystals/rhinestones on that jacket. IT just looks amazing my mouth dropped!!!! I'm glad they mentioned that the Bad tour was the first performance of Thriller (which he nixed during the Victory Tour. Get the "On the Road With Mike" it gives hints on why he didn't do Thriller.

5) FANTASTIC BILLIE JEAN pics from the Victory tour. (Some super rare and awesome. Some awesome b/c they were blown up larger). Not only Billie Jean but Victory pics in general (remember the red jump suit for Working Day and Night, yeahhhhh)

6) Updated info on the impact of Thriller and Thriller related stuff. So at the end there's a section on the impact of Thriller from famous people, and you see a pic of when this guy decided to sell the MJ glove and socks on Ebay (I remember that), and you see new merchandise you can buy. (PIc of Usher doing MJ onstage, Chris Brown in the Thriller Jacket from teh World Music Awards, brief mention of Rihanna's song "Please Don't stop the music" using the mama se... clip.

7)Oh my gosh there's a pic that is a collage of maybe 100 magazine covers MJ was on in the 83-84 era. I've seen most of those magazines so that was awesome. Opposite of that is a page talking about all the merchandiseduring that time. Even there's a little pic of the MJ doll clothes in their own packages, though it would have been cool to show the different versions. Like Beat It had maybe three different doll jackets. (Unless my doll was left in the car window or something the silver on the shoulders was gold on one jacket I have. The other one is silver and then the third was computer generated zippers instead fo the silver strings on the first two jackets)

8) Lady in my Life- wow I just mentioned this song and played it and I saw a pic of Neyo and He apparently performed it on BET awards so i GOTTA WATCH IT b/c I wish Michael would have sung this at least one time for something. Maybe he can sing it for Barack and Michelle while they do a Waltz. heyyyyyyy I think Rod Temperton (who wrote Human Nature, Thriller, Off the Wall) mentioned what could have been with the album if Thriller, Beat It Billie Jean wasn't on there like how it'd be a great R AND B album (maybe the sound engineer mentioned this instead) but I thought about that and yeah this is SUCH A GREAT SONG that really didn't get a lot of attention it deserved. Same with Baby Be Mine. He mentioned how this would have been the song to run on the roller skating ring with your girl/boy. I laughed hard at that b/c that's exactly what happened when this song came up. Or it's the slow dance "prom" song besides "Don't Stop..." haha

9)Great Interviews!!!!- John Landis? maybe mentioned how big mike was at that time (basically saying how he really didn't get how big he was b/c he always referred to Michael as Micahel from J5 and not Michael would a year or so ago just did the 10x selling "Off the Wall" album.) so he mentions how Michael on the set of Thriller would get calls from all these big people, Fred Astaire, the president, etc that was comical and fun. They also mentioned how the then president of CBS/Sony didn't want their to be a third video (Thriller video) and Mike handed the phone to John and John got cursed out and Michael got the phone back and just said he'd pay for it. That was awesome I'm just hearing this story now, so it was good to read a shortened recap. They also talked of how this video pretty much invented the video rental industry (they even said a video would cost back then $85.) so they broke it down I liked that

10) Sound engineer interview (sorry this isn't my thing i kinda skipped it. But they did show the equipment that was used to make the Thriller album) So any producers and behind the scenes folk in the studio will love this section.

11) poem from MIke in the back. Plus his handwriting of different versions of song lyrics (wannabe startin somethin) for instance.

12) Vincent Price section about Thriller. Nothing new, really but cool pics. I wish there was a pic taken during the actual session. YOu do get lyrics of the unedited rap though. that's cool. Plus how much he got paid to the rap (which we now find out wasn't smart on him b/c if he got royalties, then Kachinnnngggg$$$$$$$$, but he said who knew it'd sell as much as it did) Plus you see that what he got paid he thought was a GREAT DEAL at the time, b/c he didn't foresee this album selling as much.
Cons- Okay I'm a huuuugggeee fan so, I felt there could have been sooooo many other pictures used instead of some of the ones in it that are already out there. So if you have any of the 80s MJ books (I.E. the Thrill of Michael Jackson, the red cover book) then you'll see some of the same pictures, BUT THEY'RE BLOWN UP BIGGER and are updated (I.E.- Motown 25 practice. In the book I had in the 80s it looks like 80s photos, in this book they're redone so they look like 100% quality. Not bad and it's good to see the old school pics to see it for historical purposes and fansake reasons but updated is good as well. Sorta like seeing an old comic book and then going to the book store and seeing the reprint). There was a couple of pictures from Moonwalk, which would have been great to have an alternate picture/take. Like in the Moonwalk book, where it's a pullout and you see him from Victory with the shirt torn open (probably during Lovely One), it's good for new fans but I already have that)

I was hoping to see more of the white glittered jacket from the Victory tour and maybe the different versions of it. I remember in "Moonwalk" he might have mentioned throwing the jacket into the audience. That would have been rad to see a pic of that. Or even of him wearing the different colored sashes. I saw maybe four versions (red white, blue and godl, blue and white with rubies, and white with light blue) is all I've seen but just fanatic stuff to see. lol

Would have been great to see the "Kreatons" (monsters) or have gotten info on why that was in the beginning and how that concept came about. They look amazing (see MJ teaser "Brace Yourself" on MJ Greatest hits dvd) It looked sooooo cool and made me wanna see MJ in concert and that was what the 80s were about having stories or other things going on at a concert besides the actual songs. You know a theme. Britney did that with Onyx (hotel scene, club scene). That's just a nice bonus.

I would have liked to have seen a pic of MJ about to go on stage (Victory tour or even Motown 25), you know more behind the sceens stuff. Maybe even after the concert him running to the plane, bus, van, etc.

It was cool to see the alternate snap from the camera roll of MJ with Bubbles in the red cowboy shirt (he's kneeled with bubbles in front of him)

No pic of MJ at Madame Tussaud's but you see a rare snap of him on top of the car in the black glittered military jacket in the UK, so that was probably on the day of or around the days of Madamme Tussaud's wax version of him in '85.

Another con is okay for real a LOT OF THE BOOK had info like it was copied from Wikipedia, interviews on thriller 25 cd or just off the internet in general. So again if you are a huge fan then yawn yawn.
Also why do I need to see lyrics to We Are teh World? Can't I just look at that on the internet?
But the little bits of trivia REALLY REALLY make up for it. Like when Michael calls Walter (head at the time of CBS/Sony) "my album's not number one anymore, what are we going to do about it?""We're going to go back to sleep and deal with it tomorrow"Hahahahahaha I cracked up I swear Mike was messing with him, I hear so many stories about how Michael acts like a little kid to this guy and it's hilarious. I cracked up a good five minutes after reading this.

Would have been cool to mention "Captain Eo" b/c with the 3d movies coming out this would have been great to talk about that and maybe show pics, but Disney I'm sure probably would've wanted a cut. you know so,,,,, no biggie. But man when people say stuff is 3d now, NO IT'S NOT. 3d is supposed to have holograms above the audience not me looking at the movie screen and it looks like the glass screen is gone. YOu know.

Trivia- If you didn't see Captain E0 in 3-d when he's shooting that energy burst and the spider ladythe shot of his foot at us, that's 3d so he was above the audience also the scary (at that time) spider lady is sticking out above the audience. So think aliens movie kinda, it was scary back in the day.

Okay so I"m getting how you have to make stuff trademark, signature, so a lof of the pics are promotional pics you've seen, I.E. Human Nature poster. I would have liked to have seen another picture from that camera roll. And some of the pictures they do that. Like a Beat It promo pic you've seen in another book. well they showed the pic taken after that pic so that was cool. There were a couple of behind the scenes pics that were cool. I must say the little bits of newness are GREATTTTT AND WORTH it for the fanatics like myself. Like the second pose of Mike (from the Thriller 25th cd where he has the third version intro Victory tour jacket on witha scarf) I liked that.

Overall great book to give ANYONE that doesn't understand why MIKE'S THE MAN. I mean this is a memory lane book. Highly recommended ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Details not always correct
I noted some uncorrect important details: He describe Michael Jackson's children like this: Prince Michael I , black hair and Prince Michael II with blond hair in different occasions...where did he really was in the last 12 years of Michael Jackson's life...surely not enough close...as I saw...

5-0 out of 5 stars A great book!
Don't miss it! It's a great book which talk about the real Michael Jackson! If you're his fans and want to know him more, buy it!

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money! Sensational Tabloid Junk!
This book is horrible. I read it halfway in about one day and it disgusted me so badly that I just could not continue. It would have been a great fictional biography (but then that wouldn't make sense). In reading this book, I realized the author pulled so called "personal conversations with Michael" from statements MJ made in his autobiography "Moonwalker" (And I would know since I read the entire book, front to back), but Taborelli presents it in a way as if MJ actually confided these things to him. He then goes to elaborate vividly on the family dynamics and actual arguements, describing facial expressions and body positions as if he was there in the room when it happened. The worst part of this book is his portrayal of MJ as a snobbish, spoiled, selfish and melodramatic brat, who was rude to the people who worked for him and who pouts and cry and storms off when he doesnt get things his way! Not to mention "quotes" he threw in in which MJ is allegedly cursing, using HEAVY profanity. True MJ fans knows he didnt curse until the latter half of his life in which he'd mainly quote someone else's cursing (as with Stevie Wonders reaction to Eminem insulting MJ) or he'll use moderate, light words such as damn (things we rarely consider swearing). Do not waste your money on this book!!!!!! This author is a joke. The most hillarious part is that throughout his entire book, he made it appear as if these were interactions between him and MJ or the family, but when you get to the referense notes page at the back of the book, he list where he "pulled" his information from, a lot which were tabloids or anonymous informants. I am really disgusted with this book!!!!! An as one reveiwer of this book attempted to quote MJ:

Just because it's in writing, doesn't mean it's the Gospel.
-Michael J. Jackson

AND THIS MY FRIENDS IS THE EPITOME OF PURE TABLOID JUNK (Like MJ loved to say:))

5-0 out of 5 stars Real Life of MJ
This was an excellent, all-encompassing read. J. Randy Taraborrelli had a firsthand personal connection with MJ throughout MJ's life as a friend. Randy was actually present throughout much of his life which gives us an inside look and lends to the credibility of the writing. Wonderful-A must read!

5-0 out of 5 stars ...Not Bob Klein?
An excellent book, although I'd suggest his "Beer Companion" for a first buy.Ignore ANY review that starsts with "Michael Jackson is not Bob Klein."That's like writing "John Lennon is not MichaelBolton..."Don't buy the hype;Michael Jackson (as he introduceshimself, "not the pedorast") is the Man.

2-0 out of 5 stars Adequate
Jackson is no Bob Klein, but no beer writer can be.However, this book isnot bad as long as one doesn't expect too much.Hardly the authoritativeresource it purports to be and tends to be pretentious.

5-0 out of 5 stars The definitive guide to beer
To a beer fan, this is a truly beautiful book. It is filled with striking pictures of breweries, pubs and their beers. It stands above the average coffee table book by giving an encyclopedic treatment of beer styles and beer culture from around the world. The information is reliable and has been obtained at first hand by an author who has done more traveling in search of good beer than any other writer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply the best book on beer ever written
Jackson's informative prose and comprehensive knowledge of beer in all its wondrous variety makes this book a must-have for brewers and beer enthusiasts. Its size and beautiful layout designates it as a coffee table book, but you'll want to keep it out for guests who are enthusiastic about the American microbrewery revolution of the past twenty years, or even better for those who "don't like beer" because they've never drunk a good one. This book will make you want to purchase airline tickets to Europe to visit the breweries and towns Jackson writes so lovingly about.

5-0 out of 5 stars A concise comprehensived introduction to beer
I like to travel and I like beer.I have been one of the earlier Fanatics in the brewing renaissance, since the early 1980's. This book helped get me going.Michael Jackson is every bit as adept a writer as his musical counterpart is a singer. Not only does this book discuss beer but it has marvelous pictures, fascinating glimpses of history and also serves as an indispenable travel guide. If you want to drink the original Czech beer serving as the prototype for Budweiser in Ceske Budejovice this book can get you there. If you want to understand why Guiness Stout is Guiness Stout this book can do it.If you want to find 500 year old pubs in Prague, fantastic beer bars in Belgium, or world class brewers in America, this book is the best available and reads like a Clavell novel. Each time I travel I read about the area I am going to, copy down the name of some of the bars and restaurants, and I have made friends for 20 years as a result. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars if you love Michael Jackson, your going to love this book.
The book has wonderful photos and is of great quality. A must have for MJ fans.

4-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful book........but
The book itself is beautiful. The large colorful pictures are nice and the revisiting of old RS articles are good. What I didn't like too much was the arrogant attitude RS seemed to take while saying everything after Thriller was disappointing and was simply the work of a nutball.A cool part of the book was the write-ups about each solo album, but with each album, the articles were shorter and the criticism heavier.Seemed out of sorts to me, then to end the book there was a 2 page article about how MJ 's popularity helped get Obama elected.I don't need a music magazine to play psycologist for me.Yeah, I get it, he was black and a lot of white people liked his music.....now we have a black president that a lot of white people voted for.Wow....those folks at RS are clever....UNnecessary.

All in all I still liked the book because I like MJ, but now I remember why I haven't even considered reading RS for a very long time.

2-0 out of 5 stars RS not the authority on Michael
The editors proclaim this book to be the authority on Michael Jackson, but it is far from it. In fact, most of the writers of these articles had no real insight into Michael. It appears that the only one that sat with him for an interview is Hirshey in 1982. All the rest use hearsay, some from unreliable, unverifiable sources and jab at Michael with snide, nasty comments. I certainly think less of Rolling Stone for having been so shortsighted over the years when it came to the biggest entertainment star in the world. This is what they have to offer on Michael Jackson and I have found it woefully inadequate. Micheal Jackson was a national treasure and RS editors don't get him. I bought the book because I had read the Hirshey article and thought I was in for more unbiased, accurate, insightful reporting ... but, no. If you are thinking about buying, use the magazine database at your local library to check out whether or not you will be disappointed like I was.

5-0 out of 5 stars Well worth the money
I loved this book. The pictures are incredible. The interviews are eye opening and well written. I am rereading it to pick up anything I missed the first time.
There is a picture of Michael before any plastic surgery that is breathtaking. It is in black and white and although he doesn't seem happy in it his true beauty shines through. It is too bad that he never saw that beauty for himself.

5-0 out of 5 stars RS is realistic
RS Magazine is trustable. This is the first point, because not everything you read around is trustable. Specially about Michael. Several articles from different times in his life. So, you can read one at a time and not get bored ( as if I could be bored with anything about MJ...). I liked very much. ... Read more
