Product Description
Some shows just get better with age.As The Andy Griffith Show turns forty, the authors of the complete fan guide to the show have updated the book with new information gained from access to the complete shooting scripts of the original episodes.

The Andy Griffith Show remains one of America's most-watched programs, gaining new fans through its widespread syndication (including a major promotional campaign accompanying its joining TV Land's prime-time line-up in 2000), conventions, and upcoming "behind-the-scenes" television specials.America has embraced the characters of Mayberry---Aunt Bee, Barney Fife, Goober, Opie, and Andy himself---as family members. From Miracle Salves to Kerosene Cucumbers, The Andy Griffith Show has left a lasting impression on our culture, a sweet nostalgic taste for a time gone by.

2-0 out of 5 stars The Andy Griffith Show Book
Was looking for a comprehensive book on The Andy Griffith Show that had very detailed synopsis of each of the 249 episodes. This book is NOT that. There are synopsis of each show in the back, but they are brief and don't even have the DATE the show was on, etc.I was looking for something that devoted a whole page or half a page to each episode and told you interesting facts behind the filming of that show. This book is primarily a chapter by chapter review of each individual character in the show. I don't care to read chapters about each character like Clara Edwards and Howard Sprague. You can get info about these actors at IMDB.Sorry, but this book was of no use to me.Wish I hadn't bought it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love it
If you are a TAGS lover, this book is for you.Its so much fun!

5-0 out of 5 stars PICTURE FOR A DIFFERENT BOOK
THE PICTURE IS WRONG FOR THE ACTUAL BOOK THAT YOU WILL RECEIVE IS THE SAME BOOK WITH A LITTLE 40TH EDITION STICKER ON THE FRONT RIGHT HAND CORNER ON THE BOTTOM. GOOD BOOK.

5-0 out of 5 stars 40th Anniversary Edition is a TAGS Fan's Dream come True!
When I opened the Andy Griffith Show Book 40th Anniversary Edition, I saw that it contains everything about TAGS that I had been looking for, plus more!It is such a great find, that I wrapped it up and sent it to my sister for her birthday (65 years old)! Now I plan to order another copy
--not to give away, but to add to my collection.I recommend this book to anyone who is seeking the ideal hometown (Mayberry) and who longs for neighbors like the Taylors.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Reference for the Mayberry Trivia Buff & Fan Fiction Writer
Ken Beck and Jim Clark no doubt eat, drink, and breath the Andy Griffith Show as they must have watched every episode several times with pen and paper in hand to create this book filled with almost every bit of trivia you'd want to know about the show, not to mention their many other books on TAGS.This book is not about the actors, writers, behind-the-scenes activities, or the philosophy of the show, it is a book on the characters, places, and happenings in Mayberry. The episodes of the television show is the only source for this book.

Some reviewers do not think a book recapping the events of the television show is valuable, but it is for trivia buffs and for fan fiction writers.Fans who like to write Mayberry-related stories can find all sorts of helpful tidbits in this book. There is even an episode guide in the back with brief synopses. It is very useful for those who have not seen all the episodes or cannot remember certain details about the characters, places, etc.I have referred to this book several times in writing just one fan fiction story. It is very well-organized and usually offers that little detail I'm looking for.I was very surprised how much information is offered in this book.

Every character is profiled (almost all with photos) from the main ones to those who were only on a short time or intermittently like Ellie Walker, the Darlings, Clara Edwards Johnson, Emmett Clark, Sam Jones, and that adorable Warren Ferguson (with a nice photo I have not seen before). For trivia buffs, there are chapters on "Cops and Robbers," "Codes and Cases," "Mayberry Media" (local newspapers, radio stations, tv stations, tv programs enjoyed by Mayberry residents), "Music of Mayberry," "Contradictions," and more. There is also a helpful map of Mayberry with all the important spots like Myer's Lake, the Duck Pond, the Darling's cabin, and Ernest T. Bass' cave, a town directory and yellow pages for both Mayberry and Mt. Pilot. It also has a quiz. There are scores of b&w photos throughout the book.My only complaint is that the episode guide is not divided up into seasons.Recommended for anyone interested in the characters of TAGS. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Slow Shipment, book OK, but not what I thought
The book seller sent an e-mail that said it was shipped right away, but it didn't arrive for several weeks. It was a gift to Grandson #2, and was ordered first, and said it shipped first.A different book for Grandson #1, ordered from a different seller was shipped a day later later, arrived within the ordering week, and was read, while we were still calling to ask did you get you book?Grandson #2 probably felt left out.

Then we thought it was a book of jokes, but it turned out to be a chapter book.I don't recall now the exact description, but I've been in a contracting career for 35+ years, so normally I read words at face value.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just Joking
This must have been one of the funniest books I've ever read. It has different stories about Andy Griffiths when he was a kid. All stories are about Andy playing practical jokes on his parents, his friends, and total strangers. You won't know what's funny until you've read Just Joking. It is extremely hilarious. One of the main reasons I liked this book is how fast it is. There wasn't a part in the book where I was bored. Andy Griffiths sure knows how to keep the reader just wanting to keep on reading. Just Joking is also a very easy book to read. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Hilarious for young and old!
My 6 y.o. and I loved this book. We have never laughed so much while reading a book! This is Andy Griffiths' off-beat sense of humour at its best.

Two storylines are intermingled in this book. The first (and funniest) is about class 5C and their substitute teacher, Mr Brainfright. Mr Brainfright is unconventional and really stretches the class' concept of what learning is and how you go about it. We LOVED Mr Brainfright and his antics, especially the historical re-enactment.

The second storyline is about Henry McThrottle, a student of 5C, and his quest to find the principal's lost buried treasure. Lots of skulduggery and double-crossing take place during the search.

This is an easy to read, fun book. I read this to my 6 y.o. at bedtime. Short chapters made it easy to find an appropriate place to stop for the night, though he would often ask for, "just one more chapter". I usually gave in because I was enjoying the story as much, if not more, than he was! As we were getting closer to the end of the book, my son picked the book up after school one day and started reading ahead. He just had to know if they found the treasure!

5-0 out of 5 stars Middle readers, especially boys, will love this book
Henry McThrottle of Northwest Southeast Central School likes telling stories. Since his school is filled with crazy characters that live up to their names anyway, stories about school are great for him to tell.

Take, for instance, the fact that Henry's principal, Principal Greenbeard, likes to run a tight ship--on dry land. And the fact that Principal Greenbeard used to just be a student at Northwest Southeast Central School, and when he was just a student, he liked to play pirates at recess. And he buried a treasure-that was stolen, and never recovered. Henry McThrottle never had so much fodder for a story as when he and his schoolmates were stricken with treasure fever and decided that this was the year they would find that treasure.

This is one high-concept, easy-to-read, engaging middle reader. Think Captain Underpants without the bathroom humor, which is surprising considering that author Andy Griffiths is known for his book, The Day My Butt Went Psycho, which HAS to include bathroom humor, doesn't it? Just goes to show that you can't write off an author based on one series title. (I've never read about the Psycho Butt. Maybe it is wonderful. But my mom radar is pinging pretty loudly.)

I will happily hand this wonderful, zany read (Treasure Fever not Psycho Butt) to my eight-year-old son whom I know will eat it up and laugh his head off. Yes, I'll have to check out the other book, too. It didn't make Griffiths a bestseller for nothing, did it?

Armchair Interviews says: Wonderful read for Middle Readers. ... Read more

Despite this book and two others were a present for my nephew, and I haven't seen them, since I live in the UK, I feel I can still give a full and frank review, despite the fact that it will be based on total fiction and lies and fantasy.

This book was the best read I have ever had the pleasure to read. It changed my life, and I have now become a man of God, preaching the Good News wherever and whenever I can. Despite the fact that this has led to my own torture and death on no less than six occasions, I shall continue in my mission until such time as I am no longer able to.

I haven't read this book before, but I heard from a friend that it was good. I did read The Day my Butt Went Psycho, and I now reading Zombie Butts from Urananus, both by Andy Griffiths, and both were terrific. So I know I am going to love this text. Andy Griffiths has a very good imagination, and his books are very funny. The plots are very good and easy to follow. His books are always very good.

I ordered this book from blue ridge book deals on Nov. 23, 2009 for my niece for Christmas. It is now December 9, 2009 and they just informed me that they canceled my order. I have had a great amount of difficulity with this company and attempted to have sucessful contact regarding this order for the past 2 weeks. I advise you to not order from this company, I allowed sufficient time for the order to arrive in time for Christmas and will now have to hustle around to ensure that I can get the great amazon deals within a reasonable time.

1-0 out of 5 stars Just Disappointing
I bought this book very hopeful to use it for a summer camp I was planning called Slimy, Gooey & Disgusting.I thought there would be silly short stories or disgusting facts that I could post or share.I didn't find anything helpful in that regard.I don't even think I would give it to a kid who hates to read hoping that the title would get him to open the book.

5-0 out of 5 stars lazyreaders.com book selection for May 2006
I've recommended Andy Griffiths before (he is not to be confused with a certain sheriff from Mayberry), but I feel like I should include this book for parents of fourth-sixth grade boys who have no interest in reading. I read this book to boys who have never opened a book voluntarily, and I discover the boys weeks later have memorized pages! Yes, this book is not going to win any literary awards, but if it gets a boy into reading there is a greater chance that that boy will try to read a book that has won a literary award. I highly recommend this book for teachers and parents who have reluctant readers, especially boys. To find this book and other cool short book recommendations, go to [...] ... Read more

I think " Just Stupid is an exciting book and it explained a lot of the details about the book. For example, when the boy had to go to the bathroom, that was hilarious. He could not go because no one would let him.I think this was the best book I ever read. It will keep you laughing. You won't have to even think about reading another book!

I liked just stupid because it was extremely stupid.I kept laughing out loud. One of the stories was about a movie star and they had a food fight with her and her boyfriend. It was really freaky. Then they were taking out the trash and Andy found a baby carriage and he went for a ride but Danny accidentally let go and he was going for a ride down the street and up the highway.Andy does lots of stupid things.I would totally, absolutely, completely recommend this book.

1-0 out of 5 stars Too many errors in the episode reviews
I have the first issue of this book from 1981 and just started paying more attention to the reviews written in the back of the book for each episode. There are so many errors in the storylines; I have red-lined and re-written them so many times I've lost count.Check out the writeups on "The Bed Jacket", "Aunt Bee, the Swinger", "TV or not TV", "Off To Hollywood", "The Hollywood Party", "Aunt Bee Takes a Job", and "Opie Steps Up In Class".All have at least one to several errors in the synopsis. How could someone claim to have watched these episodes?Skip this book.I'm looking for another one.(To give the writer the benefit of the doubt, maybe later versions of the book corrected these errors?)

5-0 out of 5 stars Fan's Delight
Who doesn't love this show? The book was a fun read, and I got a kick out of the names of the clubs listed. If you want a book about The Andy Griffith Show, you'll like this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Behind-the-scenes book
This is the book I have been searching for to answer those unanswered questions.I wondered what happened to the first Floyd (an older gentleman), why Ellie abruptly left after the first season, why Don Knotts left after season Five, etc...This book explains what happened behind-the-scenes.

The book is broken down into sections:The Production, Developing a Cast, Changes in the Cast, Going Out A Winner, and more.It offers up the thoughts of the producers, directors, and cast members including quotes from Andy Griffith and Don Knotts on their take of a situation. It's an informative, easy read that focuses on the development and inner workings. It brings about a certain personal closeness between the reader and cast.

If you're looking for a book strictly centered on the on-screen characters, check out The Andy Griffith Show by Ken Beck and Jim Clark. You'll find out the Floyd(the on-screen character) is married, has a dog named Sam, a son and so on.Everything you wanted to know about the on-screen folks is in that book. However, if you want to know about the real folks and what went on behind-the-scenes, The Andy Griffith Show by Richard Kelly is the book for you.

4-0 out of 5 stars More educational than the Geographic!
First published in 1981, Kelly's book was the first of what has become a groaning bookcase of titles devoted to one of television's most beloved sitcoms. To me, it is still one of the most satisfying. Far from being a gushy trivia tome, Kelly's book takes a scholarly look at the factors - casting, production values, writing style, etc. - that have contributed to TAGS enduring popularity. Fans who don't want to think that hard might find the book, shall we say, dry as dust. Others will find it hard to put down.

The insights of principals on both sides of the camera, from Sheldon Leonard andAaron Ruben on the production end to Andy Griffith, Don Knotts and Jack Dodson on the performance side, are fascinating. The book even includes a working script (season four's "The Sermon for Today") from Griffith's personal collection, which Kelly presents as good illustration of Mayberry's (usually) unhurried pace and the show's character dynamics. He's right, but a more appropriate script to share would have been "Man in a Hurry" (often cited as the series best episode) from season three.

The book closes with summaries of all 249 TAGS episodes, including official script titles, filming sequence and airing order.

All in all, this is a valuable resource for serious TAGS devotees and anyone interested in the nuts and bolts of television production. Those wanting just another feel-good book about the folks of Mayberry had best look elsewhere.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!
This was the first book I ever bought on The Andy Griffith Show. My copy is now dog-eared, with some of the pages almost ready to fall out. I love it!! The comparisons between TAGS and other classic TV shows are a very interesting read, and the two scripts, "Sermon for Today" and the unfilmed "Wandering Minstrel," are the highlight of the book! I could clearly picture the scenes and dialogue in the scripts. If "Wandering Minstrel" had been filmed, it would've been a big hit! Anyway, go buy this book! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars A little too dark for us
My 6 y.o. and I loved the first book in the Schooling Around series, "Treasure Fever". It was wacky and fun. We laughed a lot and couldn't wait to read book 2, "Pencil of Doom". Sadly, it was a disappointment. Lots of doom, very few laughs.

Basically, the story is about the pencil that was found in the treasure chest in book 1. Anything drawn with the pencil comes true in an unexpected way - usually bad.Even when nice things are drawn, the pencil twists it around so that it becomes ... well, the word "macabre" springs to mind. That may sound harsh, but this was not a fun book to read. We did read it to the end, mainly so my son could see that things did work out eventually.

I would heed the words of an earlier review and stick to the suggested reading age. My son loves off-beat humour and often "gets it" but, at 6,this book was above his head.

We haven't given up on the series. I've read (alone) the first few chapters of book 3, "Mascot Madness"and it seems more like the first book. I'll probably read it alland then decide if my son can read it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Interesting Read!
Pencil of Doom is exciting and funny.Henry gets into a lot of tricky situations with this very dangerous pencil. His teacher, Mr. Brainfreight, will teach you a lot of lessons.I think all the kids my age (Grade 5) should read this book because it has so many interesting parts. This is a book that you will not want to put down. The Schooling Around Series is my favorite; these are the best books that I have ever read.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun read, but watch for age appropriate reader
Henry McThrottle of Northwest Southeast Central School likes to write stories. And since his school isn't your typical school, there is plenty of fodder to keep his stories interesting. Beginning with the fact that his school is run like a ship and their school song sounds just like "The Good Ship Lollypop," and ending with..., what, a fiendish pencil?

Readers of Henry's first book, Treasure Fever will remember the pencil as one which nearly chose him out of Principal Greenbeard's childhood treasure box. And though it looks like your average pencil--albeit with a little bling--this pencil is far from average. Whatever Henry and his friends draw with this pencil comes true. The challenge is for Henry to destroy the pencil before the pencil destroys them.

This is yet another fun schoolhouse middle reader, much in the vein of The Captain Underpants Series without the bathroom humor. It is zany and off the wall. Things happen at this school that just don't happen at normal schools. Filled with escaped lions and teachers forgoing math for magic trick education will keep the kids turning pages.

This is Book One in the series, however, I would stick pretty closely to the recommended age guidelines of ages 9-12 or grades 4-7. This book is considerably darker than its predecessor, Treasure Fever. Though it is goofy and anyone with a little life experience will see right through the story, a child that is easily scared, or feels intensity in a book, might be frightened by it. For example, I won't be handing it off to my second graders, yet. So while I applaud Andy Griffiths for yet another fun read, use wisdom when giving it to younger kids.

* Ever made up an imaginary friend to beat up another imaginary friend?
* Ever taken a concrete garden gnome on a vacation with you?
* Ever tried to fill up an entire shower stall by plugging the drain?

This book is called Just Annoying. The author of this book is Andy Griffiths he has a whole series of these kinds of books, in each book there is a series of short stories .This book is about a boy named Craig. Craig likes to annoy his family and friends. In one of the short stories, Craig was on a trip and he made his dad so annoyed that his dad left him on the road alone, if you want to know if his dad came back or just left him there in the middle of nowhere, you have to read the book. Craig has a dad, mom, and a 16 year old sister. I like this book because I like to annoy my family and friends too and I recommend you to read this book. My opinion about this book is that it is hilarious and I am thinking of doing some of Craig's tricks.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Best Annoying Book Ever
Just Annoying by Andy Griffiths is the best annoying and silly book ever! It can entertain you big time. And it is actually my favorite free time book. This book is great for all sorts of stuff and times. It even has a quiz in the first page which can tell you how annoying you are, and whether you will like the book. When I started reading this book, I couldn't stop because of its extremely funny stories and picture stories (in the sides of the book pages). I just had to spend the 1½-hour to finish the book. It got me a lot of laughs and I always don't mind reading it over. It cheers me up so much on a sad day. In this hilarious book, there are stories about Andy and his annoying attempts to make everyone around him annoyed. It shows from Andy standing only in his sister's bra and his X-men undies in front of the whole school while pretending to be a girl, "I guess you probably have never had the experience of standing in your sister's bra and you X-Men undies in front of the whole school. And I don't recommend it either" to Andy crashing into the kitchen window of his house while trying to beat the fastest swinging on a clothesline speed "I'm flying through the air... Straight into the kitchen window! I'm wondering whether it's safer to crash through a window headfirst, or break it with a fist, Superman style. It really doesn't matter, I guess. If the window doesn't kill me, my parents will." Thankfully, this is not only one book, but comes in a series of just as silly books (Just Wacky, The Day My Butt Went Psycho, etc)! The fun never ends in these highly entertaining books!

5-0 out of 5 stars Get Ready To Lagh!
If you ask "Are we there yet?" on long car trips over and over again. If you like to drive people crazy by doing everything they do. If you use up each and every drop of hot water, while hogging the shower. If you ask ridiculous questions that have no answer as one of your hobbies? If you like swinging on the clothesline in secret when you get the chance. If you answer any of the questions "yes", this book is for you! This book will tell you nine out of many hilarious stories, of when Andy Griffiths annoyed many people in his childhood. This book includes 638 annoying pictures illustrated by Terry Denton.

5-0 out of 5 stars So So Annoying

Zack Freeman is ready to tell his story...the story of a brave young boy and his crazy runaway butt. The story of a crack butt-fighting unit called the B-team, a legendary Butt Hunter's formidable daghter, and some of the ugliest and meanest butts ever tAmazon.com Review
While wisely rated G for Gross ("Contains immature material not suitable for adults"), Andy Griffiths' very funny debut novel will almost certainly blow away--perhaps literally, stinkingly--anyone of any age who's ever suspected that their backside might be up to something.

Translated from the Australian (sold Down Under as "The Day My Bum Went Psycho"), this adventure begins with the nighttime flight of our 12-year-old protagonist Zach's pale little heinie and doesn't let up for over 200 pages--most of which are filled almost exclusively with the word "butt." At first, Zach believes his butt might be leading some sort of minor butt rebellion, but the plot quickly thickens to include a global army of feral butts, the "greatest buttcano in the history of the world," and a head-butt "rearrangement" conspiracy that goes all the way to the... um, bottom. Our well-meaning but naive hero Zach soon gets mixed up with the butt-fighting "B-team" (the Kicker, the Kisser, and the Smacker, who all "love the smell of freshly smacked butt in the morning!"), fires his very first 4502-LL ("The LL stood for Laxative Launcher"), learns how to "butt-hop" ("The average butt has enough gas to propel itself and a rider for twenty minutes...."), and goes on a long, wild chase involving cluster butts, buttcatchers, kamikaze butts, stinkants, and even the fearsome Stenchgantor, "the Great Unwiped Butt." (And that's not even counting all those seagoing butt piranhas and poopoises.)

Griffiths surely likes the cheap laughs and doesn't miss a single opportunity for buttly wordplay (from "high-frequency emissions" to the smell-ranking "Rectum scale"), but that doesn't make The Day My Butt Went Psycho any less clever--the fast-moving plot has as many double-crosses as double entendres, and Griffiths weaves in some pretty brilliant ideas. Who knew you could have a death throe scene between a butt and its owner? Also includes a snarky butt glossary in the book's... uh, rear. (Ages 9 to 12) --Paul Hughes ... Read more

Despite the myth that this book and two others were a present for my nephew, and I haven't seen them, since I live in the UK, I feel I can still give a full and frank review, despite the fact that it will be based on total fiction and lies and fantasy.

This book was the best read I have ever had the pleasure to read. It changed my life, and I have now become a man of God, preaching the Good News wherever and whenever I can. Despite the fact that this has led to my own torture and death on no less than six occasions, I shall continue in my mission until such time as I am no longer able to.

I am now resident at Bethlam Military Hospital for the Insane after suffering trench-foot and shell-shock from World War One, but expect to be fully recovered by the year 3027.

5-0 out of 5 stars Funny!!!!
I bought the book for my son for something to read to get interested in books. He laughted at every page.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun for kids and mom!
My son, ten, loves the Wimpy Kid Dairy books. He has read all of them several times. This is amazing to me because he isn't a reader.Determined to help him become a reader, I went searching for similar books.Amazon recommended this. The Search Inside feature convinced me that this was a good choice and I ordered it as a stocking stuffer.I am so glad I did!The reading level wasn't as easy but the book seemed hilarious based on the cover. We decided to read it aloud together. We both laughed hysterically. He enjoyed the potty humor and I saw further into a ten year old boy's mind than I ever have. Parts of the book are truly gross, funny, but gross.Even so, I highly recommend this book.If the storyline sounds perfect for your child but the reading level is too difficult, read to him or her.Listening to you read will encourage a love of reading in him and give you insight into your child's sense of humor.Learning, laughing and sharing, true quality time with your child.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for boys

5-0 out of 5 stars great journal for littlest pet owners - kind of like a diary
The "My Charming Journal" from Littlest Pet Shop is a wonderful gift for a 10 year old. which my granddaughter will be onNovember 7, 2010.She loves to play with all of littlest pets and has about 40 of them. She has given each one a name.

When she gets this journal, she will be thrilled because it not only has items about littlest pets, but also about your best friends, hobbies, etc.It is a great present for a 10 year old (especially since she has learned to write and loves books, paper, magazines, etc.

It also sells at a very good price.I give it 5 stars.

4-0 out of 5 stars Funny and challenging reading!
After going through the Capt. U/P series, as well as "Wimpy Kid" series, I was interested in finding additional reading materials for my soon to be 9 year-old.He mentioned "The Day My Butt Went Psycho", a book owned by a friend of his.So in my research I found the Andy Griffith "Butt" series! The Buttasuar book is different from the others, in that it is set up like an encyclopedia of dinosaurs, or in this case "buttosaurs".Smiles and giggles ensued from the first read.If you don't mind allowing some kid-friendly, gross-out or bathroom humor, then your child will be enthralled.

3-0 out of 5 stars "Oh, well, we're glad you think we're friendly"---Andy to the manicurist
This little quote book would be a nice stocking-stuffer or memento for a friend. It has photos of scenes from The Andy Griffith Show (some of them are color-tinted, which looks kind of tacky) along with quotes on friendship referencing the corresponding episode. If you have other books on TAGS, this one doesn't offer anything new or rare.I bought it because the title is a quote from one of my favorite, and terribly unappreciated, characters Warren Ferguson.Alas, there is only one photo of Warren, a common one from "The Legend of Barney Fife."Knowing that, I probably would not have purchased it.Still, it is a nice, inexpensive gift for the TAGS fan; but nothing more.

Photos include Opie with Johnny Paul and friends selling miracle salve; Ellie Walker giving pills to hypochondriac Emma Watson; Andy jamming with Jim Lindsey; Bob Rogers in "Barney's Replacement"; Mayor Pike, Floyd, Andy, and Barney looking at the new manicurist through the barbershop window; the manicurist; "The Jinx" Henry Bennett and Andy fishing; Andy and Barney being evaluated at the Esquire Club; "Merchant of Mayberry" Bert Miller with Andy; Barney making moulages and Mayor Stoner and company examining the plaster casts in "The Cow Thief"; Andy and Barney at a class reunion; Malcolm Merriweather dodging autos on his bicycle; Andy with Briscoe Darling; Barney with Mrs. Mendelbright; "Andy and Opie's Pal" holding a football; Otis riding a cow; Charles Foley and Floyd in "The Case of the Punch in the Nose"; Ernest T Bass befriending Malcolm Merriweather; Warren, Goober, Barney and Andy next to Barney's 1960 Edsel convertible; Goober guarding the door to "The Lodge"; Howard catching Old Sam; Aunt Bee and Clara; Helen and a bearded Goober; scenes from "Dinner at Eight"; "Howard's New Life"; Opie and Arnold at the ice cream counter. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Modern Dr. Suess
As a teacher of struggling readers, this book has been a big hit.It looks and feels like a bigger chapter book, but is fun and easy to read. The students really enjoy it and are willing to read it over and over again, which is just what they need. The illustrations are simple and funny. Even my third graders and other fluent readers have fun with the rhymes and silly stories.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not what you would guess!
What a clever way to not only amuse but draw the reader (in this case a 6 year old boy) into reading more & more! My son is so excited to be reading this thick, chapter book. Maybe a first grade level. He laughs at all the black and white drawings and really enjoys the humor. A wonderful, rhyming, reader disgused aa a "big kid" book. Bravo!

2-0 out of 5 stars Not what was ordered
The seller had a picture of the book and was described as hard cover. When I received the book it was a paperback and did not look anything like the picture. It was the same title book, but was not what I needed and ordered. However, I immediately notified the seller who promptly refunded all of my money, which I really appreciate it.Would I buy from them again? Not sure, but probably not.

5-0 out of 5 stars A fantastic early reader

5-0 out of 5 stars My first grade boy LOVED this book
My first grade boy loves being read to (harry potter, science books, beautiful picture books) but is reluctant to read on his own unless he is asked to in school or for his requisite 15 minutes of nightly reading.I took this book out of the library because I thought the rhymes were hilarious. He has picked it up, read it on his own without being asked and then picked it up again and reread all his favorite parts. In the same day!And yes he loves capt. underpants (sigh) and Jon Scieska (yeah!). ... I picked this up for my 10 year old for X-mas, and while he hasn't read or received it yet, I did read enough beforehand and after I got it to know he will love this book. Its got everything a little boy wants; butts, farts, zombies, adventure! And while my little guy loves to read, I know this is the type of book that will capture his interest even more and he won't be able to put it down! Its very gross and therefore very enthralling!

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing for the reader with a good sense of humor
My ten-year old son loved this book. After speaking with him, he would like to recommend this book for readers age 9 to 11.It has a lot of "potty" humor, which he loves, but nothing that made him feel awkward or uncomfortable. This is the second book in a trilogy.Book one was "The Day My Butt Went Psycho," this was book two, and book three "Butt Wars: The Final Conflict," is the current read.In his opinion, all three are equally good. "It's just really funny, Mom!"

1-0 out of 5 stars Not even interesting
My grandson lost interest in this book in a few minutes, said it was boring.I do not recommend.

4-0 out of 5 stars Makes a 13 year old laugh
Zombie Butts From Uranus by Andy Griffiths is actually a suprisingly good read... Unless you consider yourself mature and old enough to not laugh at fart jokes.I'm considered mature by various people, and yet I still find myself laughing my head off while reading this book. And I also suggest reading The Day My Butt Went Psycho!, also by Andy Griffiths first.

The book is about a kid named Zack Freeman who is trouble by a very, VERY, rude butt.Zack is a good-willed but clusmy sort of kid who strives to be a butt hunter like all of his heros. Already widely considered a great butt hunter because of his heroic efforts in the first book, he finds himself failing at a Butt Hunters Training Academy and ultimately quits because he is tired of failing. But unbeknonwst to him, his parents (who frequently are on "tours" with an "orchestra") are butt hunters on a mission to Uranus when thousands of dead butts are reanimated bye an enormous explosion on the planet. Then the zombie butts go and attack Earth and yadda yadda... I don't want to ruin the ending.

Zombie Butts From Uranus is a book that one should read more than once.Just like if you watch a movie multiple times in a brief period, you begin to notice all of the little things that don't seem that important, but provide a few extra laughs. And one thing that you have to do is read the covers and warning on the inside cover page. But this should deffiantly be a read for any young kid who wants to laugh. ... Read more

Product Description
Andy Griffith tells his life story with candor and honesty.

He's best known as Mayberry's Sheriff Andy Taylor and Atlanta lawyer Ben Matlock, but Andy Griffith's career includes stand-up, Broadway plays, films, and success as a recording artist. In his long-awaited autobiography Andy tells of growing up poor in North Carolina and of attending college to become a Moravian minister, as well as how he discovered comedy and eventually played in Broadway's No Time for Sergeants and starred in the movie A Face in the Crowd. Including stories from filming The Andy Griffith Show and Matlock, Andy takes readers behind the scenes, sharing the good times and the bad: his joy-filled marriage to Cindi, struggles with his health, and his recent work in movies like Waitress and the award-winning video for Brad Paisley's "Waitin' on a Woman." Intimate, heartwarming, and characteristically humorous, Andy's story is sure to captivate readers and fill in a vital piece of missing Americana.

3-0 out of 5 stars I called the publisher - "Postponed Indefinitely"
I have been waiting for this release just as some other folks here have.I see it listed in the Marketplace for over $100 and I have to say I am skeptical.

So, I called the publisher listed above.

1.)Yes, it is a Thomas Nelson book
2.)Yes, they did have the first release date planned as 7/15/2010
3.)No, it has not been released. It has been "postponed indefinitely".
4.)The account rep that I spoke with does not believe that any advanced copies were released, so they also are very skeptical that there are any new or used copies out there to be had at any price.

I plan to leave it in my wish list in case it is released at some point. Please let us know if anyone actucally SEES a copy out there anywhere.

I'd been looking forward to the release of this book, getting it and reading it.Now I see its only available from other "Sellers" and not from Amazon.Having had some bad experiences, it looks like I'll have to pass on getting it - not to mention the others that have it for sale have it for more than the list price - much more.Someone care to tell why Amazon won't have it available in book form - if they get a Kindle edition, they may as well not get it at all.
