5-0 out of 5 stars Eden
Heather Graham is terrific.I love all her books. It is so hard for me to put her books down until I am finished. Her charactrs are so compelling.

5-0 out of 5 stars a "Can't put down read!"
I love Heather Graham!I could not put this book down either, refering to A Customer's review.I have read a lot of her books twice. Craig is a great hero!Blair is a tricky heroine. This a a reprint from the early 1980's so it is a bit dated at times but I think that adds to its charm. Just read it and enjoy.

4-0 out of 5 stars A fun, easy weekend read!
This book was very enjoyable.Nothing too heavy, just a fun and easy read. It kept me reading it all weekend.

4-0 out of 5 stars captivating in its truest sence!!
This was a great read! Once I started I couldn't put it down. This was my first Heather Graham novel and it sure won't be my last. It was a fased paced book that kept you more than interested. Taylor's torn sence of dutyand love for Blair... was more than compelling!I look forward to more ofGrahams works!

3-0 out of 5 stars What is happening to Heather Graham.
I was very disappointed in this book. The characters are very one diminsional. You don't even know or care about them before they are falling into bed together.I kept waiting for a DANGEROUS situation tohappen, but none did.Taylor was supposed to be some superhuman agent -but all he did was pilot a boat down a river. The ending was verypredictable. This could have been a really good book, but I had thefeeling Ms Graham didn't want to take the time and then just hurry up andfinish the story. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars 1906 San Francisco Fire...Romance to die for!
I am a huge fan of Heather Graham Pozzessere (pen name Shannon Drake for some of her novels, and Heather Graham for others). Her talent is amazing as displayed in this story of exchanged identities of two English women, one born to wealth, one born to poverty and the marriage to an American man who is caught in between.Marissa Ayers, the red/gold haired green eyed beauty who grew up among the poor English miners but whose pride and drive kept her from falling into the mire, agrees to wed Ian Tremayne, American architect and wealthy San Franciscan (heir to the great Emporium department store), in order to allow her best friend, Mary, to wed the love of her life. But Ian who is bitter from losing his first wife and child is unaware of the deception.Still, he is passionate for his new wife as she is for him. But there are his former mistresses to contend with as Marissa poses for the lady she is not.Still she finds herself falling for her proud and honorable husband afraid he will know the lie she lives.Pozzessere does a brilliant job of describing San Francisco life in the early 1900s and of allowing us to live with those who endured the great fire of 1906.This is a splendid romance that had me crying at the end.She does it so well. You will not be sorry you got this one!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Illicit Passion of is Full of Forbidden Fire!
England, 1885-1905
San Francisco, 1905

Nine-year-old wild carrot red haired, green cat eyed, proud and feisty beauty Marissa Ayers first met tall, handsome and wild ebony haired Ian Tremayne while she was an orphan living with her beloved Uncle Theo in a poverty stricken English coal mining town.Marissa passionately dreamed of escaping her destiny of the coal life to become a refined lady of wealth and respectability.Marissa had her very personal reasons why this was paramount.

Almost ten years later, Marissa once again met the American Yank Ian.Marissa secured a position of a maid in the home of Squire Thomas Ahearn and his daughter Mary.Marissa and Mary became fast best friends and confidants; sharing all future hopes and dreams along with their deepest secrets. The kind and dying Squire Ahearn loved his daughter so much that unbeknownst to Mary, he secured her future life to his friend Ian. Mary would not receive her inheritance if she decided otherwise. But Mary's heart belonged to the gentle, common and hard working merchant hopeful, Irish Jimmy O'Brien.Once Mary learned of her planned future with Ian, she and Marissa devised a plan to switch places. That plan was marriage for Marissa to the brooding Ian who harbored secrets of his own. This marriage of convenience would solve everyone's problems.Mary could marry Jimmy and Marissa would escape poverty.

Can Marissa, Mary and Jimmy pull off this deception successfully? Can they all happily live their lives with these lies and treachery? What will Ian do if he ever finds out?Would he accept the facts fearing that his own secrets will be uncovered?

This pleasing, quick and easy read is full of tender life-threatening journeys of the heart and soul.

3-0 out of 5 stars Cheesy, but still okay

It may be the changing times, but my opinion of this book, and Ms. Graham, changed a whole bunch from the first time I read this book in 2006.I loved it then but found it lacking in 2010.

The hero, Rowan, is sexy and honorable. The heroine, Samantha, was hard for me to identify with. She is dedicated to the people she loves, I get that, but she comes across as not being very smart. Some of the thoughts that run through her head are laughable, and silly.

The suspense is okay, but the way Samantha's thought processes work irritated me.As I've said in another review of Ms. Graham's work, there are way too many explanation points. For example; `"Joe!" she said blankly.'Sorry, to me, an explanation point does not equal a blank statement--that's kind of the reason for explanation points!

The dialogue is unnatural, and rough. The average person just doesn't say things like; "...musn't ever find out..."

A lot of suspects abound because EVERYONE is tall, dark, beautiful and built!

There are several, typo's and mixed tenses in this particular book.Of course, typo's are expected, but some of these are blatant. Not all of that can be put on Ms. Graham--her editor at Penguin Putnam is more responsible than she is for the oversights.

Still, it's a decent read, even though it's irritating and feels false at times.

I'm a fan of Ms. Graham's and if you like sexy romance/suspense novels, you'll most likely enjoy this tale.

Oh yeah, there is a really decent sex scene. It's lengthy and involved and pretty hot, until silly Samantha ruins it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tall, dark and deadly
Book arrived quickly, a real steal for the money!Great reading!Thumbs up!

1-0 out of 5 stars Deadly Boring
I did not like this book at all. I could have put it down any time and not continued.I thought the running back and forth from each other's home overdone and each time they went out one door and around the other side they remembered they left the other door open. What spooked them all so bad?One neighbor gone for a short time?or a spooky phone call days later?I did not find it suspenseful at all and the characters all seemed to be so hung up on Marnie and who all she had slept with, etc ya da da,ya da da.But alls well that ends well right?

4-0 out of 5 stars They're ALL tall, dark, and handsome - so who did it?
Ready for a lot of suspence? Read the prologue and see if you can put it down! I bet you can't. And it kept me going to the end. This one has it all- murder, passion, suspects, ex-lover(s),and alligators. One reviewer called it a romantic-suspence and that is right on target. Sam's girlfriend + neighbor comes up missing and Sam can't let it go. The police are on the case but things aren't moving as fast as she thinks they should. Sam soon discovers that her other neighbor that has just moved in is none other her ex-lover Rowan who is trying to leave his past (a suspect of murder)and move forward or is it backwards (with Sam being back in his life even if it is as a neighbor). So Sam and Rowan are now trying to find the pieces to the puzzle themselve. A great story! You'll enjoy it.

2-0 out of 5 stars UGH!!!
If you are looking for suspense, look elsewhere! If you are looking for gushing prose that would do a Harlequin romance novel proud, this is the book for you. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars My least favorite Heather Graham book
I LOVE Heather, but this was my least favorite EVER of her books. This guy was a Congressman???? And he is manhandling and threatening this lady card dealer on a cruise ship, which is supposed to be carrying world leaders for an important summit???? I don't even think a Kennedy or Bill Clinton would go that far. And to DEMAND that she "get over" the death of her husband and children, pretty much to the point of forcefulness? Was not a very believable plot. That said, PLEASE read other Heather Graham/Shannon Drake novels. Some are the best of the best!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars BEYOND TERRIBLE---
If you like reading,"his painful grasp bringing tears to her eyes," OVER and OVER and OVER then this book is for you. Sure, it's a mainstay in romance literature for the cool-headed brooding hero to lose himself in passionate agony every once in a while and physically restrain the heroine, BUT ON EVERY OTHER PAGE??? Where's the romance in that?

This thing read like a really BAD Harlequin romance with WAY too much repetition. I also found the main characters unlikable because they never remained consistent--they were supposed to be hard and strong, but were basically weak and whiny. I thought I'd NEVER get through this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Hearts
This was a great read. The suspense was good and so was the love story.I did figure out early who Dr. Glen Trivett was, but it was interesting to see how everything unraveled.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good read
This was a good read.. Kind of funny because it takes place in the 80s I did have to laugh at the changes in technology and society since then.. BUT the story did grab me, I couldn't put it down and finished in the same day (don't tell my boss.) As a mother some of it made me tear up, but I guess that's the sign of a good one. And the story was good, I could discuss with my husband without feeling like a goober. (Romance novels are my guilty pleasure, I'll admit.)

5-0 out of 5 stars A winner!
This one is a winner for sure! The twist of fate put Rhiannan Collins and Congressman Kiel Whellen on a privately owned luxurious ship after terrorists rocked both of their lives, personally. The suspense in this novel is a real killer! You will love it!

3-0 out of 5 stars Synopsis
From the back of the book:

IT SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED but it had. And in the years since then, Kit McHennessy had never been able to escape the memory of her one night of love with Justin O'Niall.

Now she was back in Ireland again, back in the tiny village of Shallywae and, before long, back in Justin's arms. But the past still haunted her, and there were questions to be answered before she could let herself think about love. Lives had been lost all those years ago, and the present seemed no less dangerous. Suddenly Kit was forced to realize that she might not live to taste the happiness a future with Justin offered.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not the sweet love story
Kit McHennessy reluctantly returns to Ireland with her young son to write a travel book on the country that took her groom's life eight years before. She runs into Justin O'Niall, the man who cared for her in her tragedy, and finds him darkly brooding and moody, yet compelling. There is mystery behind their first encounter that follows them into their second.Unable to deny their strong passion for each other, they rekindle a relationship that years before seemed wrong.

I was disappointed in this book for several reasons. The author uses a Scottish brogue instead of an Irish one.Big boo-boo.The two major characters are constantly fighting (when they aren't making love), which is contrary to sweet romance. They simply seem to never find a common plane on which they can both survive -- and this problem is never resolved believeably. And some passages are repeated several times unnecessarily.

I closed the book feeling dark and moody myself and would not recommend it to anyone just for that reason.Good points? Some interesting Irish history, perhaps, but when told with a Scottish brogue, very contrary.

Nope.If you want to read a love story set in Ireland, stick to Nora Roberts or Lisa Hendrix. They are feel-good stories. This one is not.

5-0 out of 5 stars Irish mystery
You will find this to be an engaging modern mystery and love story involving ancient Irish legends. It will keep you guessing until the end. 2-0 out of 5 stars Casual lies, casual friends, casual sex - casually skip it!
I didn't like it. The murder mystery was okay, but not that great. I figured out who it was & why they did it long before the story ended. It really didn't seem worth it.

The mystery was overshadowed by themain characters' relationship. That wouldn't have been a problem, but mymain objection to the book IS the relationship between the exes: Jordan andKathryn.

The gist is: Kathryn seems to be pining after her ex-husband,but the ex-husband has no problem having sex with his present girlfriendand trying to have an affair with his ex-wife at the same time. Jordanlacks depth, morals, character, conscience, etc - all the things that wouldmake a man attractive to a woman - unless, of course, she was only aftercasual sex. He is described as having a great body, but, in my opinion, itwould take a brainless woman to want him for the long haul.Kathryn seemsto be making all the compromises and doing all the giving - Jordan's awaste of time and space. There's macho and then there's worthless, obnoxious pigs - Jordan fits into the pig catagory. Kathryn is just a plainidiot.

If this is representative of today's relationships, and authorshave come to believe that this is what women want to read - then Heavenhelp us. This is a shallow man's fantasy. I prefer to read a story wherethere's at least the illusion of a caring relationship and the man treatsthe woman with RESPECT! and she demands it instead of rolling over andbeing a desperate-to-have-a-man doormat! I was so disappointed in this bookthat I haven't read a Heather Graham Pozzessere book since. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Stranded
I wish that men in real life could compare to Heather Graham's men.I have never met one.I would love to be stranded on an island with someone like Kyle. The book was great.Heather Graham's books are always good and very hard to put down.

3-0 out of 5 stars Who wouldn't want to be on an abandon island like that?
Due to her occupation Skye Delaney is placed on a plane headed back home with Kyle Jaggar as pilot when the plane goes down. Stranded on a deserted island (and Kyle being a good "boy scout")they make the best of the situation and set up house. Kyle is over-persuasive and talks Skye into a sexual relationship. Since they could be there on the island for quite a while, you know. Skye is a single (with a serious boyfriend back home), independent, business woman that "becomes pudding in Kyle's hands." Kyle is a little more complicated. Co-owner of the airlines, Kyle is a domineering, playboy, tyconne that is married with an estranged wife and has a son he adores. The time they spend on the island is that of paradise which ends short when they are rescued after 6 weeks by Kyle's brother, Michael. When they return to the "real world." Their relationship finds several complications to be worked out. The book is ok but HG has other wonderful books out there to be enjoyed that I don't rate this one up there very high, though I did finish it and enjoyed the ending. I would say go ahead and read it if you want or go to her other series like "Runaway" and "One wore Blue". It is hard to beat them.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Entertaining but...too dominatinghero...
I have read alot of Ms. Graham's work, and this is an older one, written orginally in 1983 and the time shows in the way the hero and heroine interact. The hero was very dominating and nearly abusive towards the heroine and alot older than her also. (he was 40 she is 26)Reflecting the times of romances in the 80's.By today's standards this book would'nt be well recieved. So in reading it, you have to remember when it was written.
The beginning was great and I was quickly pulled into the story when they crashed on the deserted island and then had to fend for themselves but eventually fell for one another.I started to get pulled back out when they were rescued and the subplots of stolen gold and a bitter divorce along with an unwanted pregnancy began to cloud the mood she had woven earlier on.
The hero Kyle Jagger was a little too dominate for my taste and too cold.He was continuously in a bad mood and flew off the handle for no reason. He treated the heroine Skye Delaney like a pampered and beautiful pet that was too ignorant or fragile to make her own mistakes or decisions. She was only a corporate excecutive after all and owned her own company, lol.She was strong in the beginning, but lost my respect when she submitted to Kyle's dominance and somewhat cruel treatment. She began acting like an 18 year old school girl who needed a much older man's wise advice and wisdom to make her decisions for her.In the end I was wishing she would run off with Kyle's brother or son, lol.But all in all, it was highly entertaining and a great book to sit out on the beach or on your porch with for the afternoon.

~Fate stepped in when fashion executive Skye Delaney survived a crash on a deserted island with a surly pilot alone. Both overly domineering and suductive, Skye lost her inhibitions to him and forgot about the 'real world' waiting for them to be found. How coulkd she return to a fiance and a life of hard work when she found paradise in this man's arms? The only problem?Skye soon realizes who he REALLY is and it makes her heart break. He is Kyle Jagger, the owner and tycoon of the company she flew with and crashed. He is also married with a 20 year old son and he is reputed to be a major playboy. Can the sultry eden change his ways?Should Skye distance herself from him before its too late?

Kyle Jagger is a hard and bitter man with a nasty estranged wife at home and a son he adores.Getting stranded on an island that reminded him of paradise with a gorgeous woman he can't seem to stop thinking about made things worse. He needs to find a way off the island before its too late and before someone who may have caused the crash comes looking for them...

4-0 out of 5 stars Not the best Heather Graham book, but entertaining!
This is the first "Heather Graham" book I read.It was interesting enough for me to finish on a rainy afternoon. It definitely grabs your attention in the beginning but after the rescue, my attentionspan lulled off and part of me wished that Skye would've left Kyle.Thisleading man was not very appealing to me.I would definitely recommend theseries books that she writes over this book.It was a good read, but notas well written as the "And one rode..." series

3-0 out of 5 stars Should've taken the gold and run
The first half of this novel was good. After their plane crashes on a deserted Pacific island, the strong, silent hero and the feisty, independent heroine clash initially and then succumb to the romantic setting and fall in love.Unfortunately, she doesn't tell him she's in love, and he tells her but she's not buying it.The second half of the novel is filled with subplots (stolen gold, pregnancy, a bitter divorce, etc) that are more distracting and annoying than interesting. And everything falls into place a little too neatly at the end. This was my first Heather Graham novel; I'm not sure if I'll try another. ...
