2-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as expected...
While I totally love Heather Graham, and this series inparticular, there was something missing in this book. I thought she could have explored Julian and Rhiannon's relationship better. It sort of felt like the book was written because she had to put something in with Julian to continue the series. I just think it could have been way better. There were parts of this book that explained a few things from other books in the series for me (I didn't manage to read them in order of course!) , it still did not draw me in the way that Rebel and Triumph, and basically the rest of the series, did. I do however love the way she describes the scenes as if you were there. She is probably one of the best authors regarding Civil War Romance. Just not this particular book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Rebel and Glory are must read books
I first read Glory and then read Rebel.I loved both of them. I can't wait to start from the first and read to Heather Grahams latest of the MacKenzie family "Triumph". Each are so accurate in history detail during the civil war. The detail of events make you feel as if you are standing right there while it happens. And the romance just make you want to swoon.Lordy me!

You have to read these books!

5-0 out of 5 stars "Glory" is splendid!!
This time, the doctor and the psychic meet."Glory" is Julian McKenzie's story.Julian is Ian's brother, Jerome's cousin, James' nephew, and Jarrett's son.Oh hhh, the McKenzie men are fine!!

"Glory" is about Julian and the woman he falls in love with, Rhiannon Tremaine. There story is delightful and romantic.Julian certainly equals the standard of the McKenzies.

5-0 out of 5 stars the man with to much arogance and the witch doctor
Glory is yet another of the books I could read two or three times.Heather Graham puts out a terrific performance about the love of the rebel doctor Julian McKenzie and a woman branded a witch becuase of her healingpowers and her ability to see.It also starts out the good parts of Sydney& Jesse, and Brent & mary.I like the fact that she uses thebattle of Gettysburg as the peak of the book.I live a few minutes fromGettysburg and it was neat to compare the book with the information I couldfind there.I suggest everyone read the McKenzie saga and the Cameronsaga, both are about the Civil War and the Seminole War.

3-0 out of 5 stars Glory by Heather Graham - A disappointment!
Disappointing is a very gracious word! Heather Graham usually pens a more vibrant heroine and hero. Yet for some reason I could not come to terms with Rhiannon. She was 'bland', depicted as etheral, mysterious, yet, nothing about her character exemplified those traits in the novel. Sheconstantly wore mourning black even while married to a very live and viralman. The way Graham describes her, I always seem to picture 'Morticia' ofthe 'Adams Family', particualy when Angelica Huston portrayed the character'Morticia' in the movie. It was very difficult for me to 'like' Rhiannon. There were several other heroines of Graham writing 'Shannon Drake' that Ididn't particularly enjoy, however, Graham's 'McKenzies' normally marriedsensuous Rebel or Yankee 'spitfires', and Rhiannon failed to fit into thiscatergory. The novel itself was a combination of several novels. There weretoo many stories combined to make up 'Glory'. The story of Jesse andSydney, which was introduced in 'Surrender', was fiery enough to create anovel of their own tumultuous affair. And Jesse's character changed in'Glory'. In 'Surrender', Jesse was a 'a typical' hero, strong, possessive, reckless with his own life, but protective of those he cared for. In'Glory', Jesse seemed 'too young', too soft in my opinion. I kept expectinghim to say to someone that he assisted putting Sydney in 'Old Capitol'prison to keep her safe during the war and that is where she should haveremained. Yet he claimed he had an undying love for her, but where did itdevelop? If I was the author of 'Glory', Sydney and Jesse's affair wouldhave began the moment he kidnapped her in 'Surrender' and of course, a spinoff of their own novel, commencing with Jesse forcing Sydney to leaveJerome and her later awaking on his couch after being kidnapped. I failedto see how sending Brent McKenzie to a veneral disease research centercould be considered interesting enough to the readers. It failed tointerest me. Yes, I'm aware that veneral disease killed many soldiersduring the Civil War and it is still running rampant today, however, avaluable talented physician wasted his talent being sarcastic to a womanwhom was just as sarcastic to him, while caring for very ill patients, oneof whom was her father! If Brent and Mary are going to be the next majorcharacters in the McKenzie saga, I can't see where his experience in an1860s CDC will spin off a romantic sequel. And where is Jennifer? Has sherecovered from grieving for her spouse, or was she on the verge of becomingslightly mentally unstable - or will she ever experience love andfriendship with a male again. On the positive side, Heather Graham gavegraphic details of the medical units responsibilities and the conditionsthat existed during the Civil War. The military strategic maneuvers of bothGenerals Lee and Meade were outstanding. And Julien was a likeable hero, even though he was portrayed harder and colder than either Ian or Jerome. All and all, 'Glory' lacked the excitement and sensuality of both 'Rebel'and 'Surrender', but again, gave valuable historical insight into the dailylives of medical units under fire. My favorite line from the book is whereIan questioned Julian's position as a physician under fire and Julianresponded, "they shoot at me, I shoot back"! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Witch Trials, a Hunk toDie For and True Love!
This is another page turner from Heather Graham who I am coming to love. This is the story of Brianna McCardle, a dark haired blue eyed young beauty who is falsely accused in Scotland of being a witch. She is saved only by pretending to be a whore sent to the Welsh sea captain, Lord Treveryan for the night. She loses her innocence to him but he loses his heart to her.He takes her to his ship to keep her from the witch hunters but then he decides he won't let her go.Neither will he marry her.Raised by Puritans, Brianna cannot be his mistress so she flees to America with her cousin who marries her when she is discovered to be with child. This story is all about what happens when life gets in the way of true love. You will feel the pain of love denied, love delayed and love misunderstood--then love regained. And it is all set in the 17th century when witch hunts took place in Britain as well as Salem, Massachusetts.Graham does a wonderful job of weaving in the history, developing the characters and including believable sexual tension between the hero and heroine.I recommend this one!

5-0 out of 5 stars tender touch
I've read several of Graham's books, Devil's Mistress is definitely a good book.If you're the type of person who skims the books for the steamy passionate scenes, this book is not for you.The plot, though slightly predictable, is well worth reading the book through, and the end is definitely rewarding and odd, because you always think of your heroine's living forever in your mind, at least I do.Devil's Mistress is an awesome book, I also recommend A Pirate's Pleasure, also by Ms. Graham, and would strongly suggest that people not invest the money in Savage Sweet Eden.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful pirate book
This is the 1st pirate book I've read, and I thought it was very
good.I found some things a little too convenient, such as
ailing spouses, but aside from that, I really liked the book &
did not want it to end.It did have a happy ending, and I
didn't sob like a baby when it was finished, like I thought I
might.

3-0 out of 5 stars Okay
I have read better books by Heather Graham. The book was a bit drawn out could have been cut down by at least three chapters. The heroin pretty much worked my nerves. At times she was very naive. The book also became a little boring halfway through but all in all it was okay. I do suggest reading "A Pirates Pleasure" a very good book.

5-0 out of 5 stars How non-formula of you, Ms. Graham!
Devil's Mistress is unlike any Historical Romance I have read in that it does not follow the standard formula for this type of novel. The book begins with a Prologue that lends an eeriness that makes the reader eagerto get into the guts of the book. The book begins with a witch burning, awitch hunt and the hero and heroine meeting. Then the hero turns out to bemarried. Then the heroine gets married to someone else. This is what Imean about the book not following standard formula. You have to continuereading to see if and how the two could possibly get back together.Thewriting allowed me to feel the hysteria that permeated Salem in the late1600s as the witch hunts began. The love story is poignant andunderstandable.

For me, the unusual way in which this book waspresented makes it one of Ms. Graham's finest. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Not my favorite Graham Romance...
First, let me say I am a huge Heather Graham fan (and all the romances by her pen name, Shannon Drake).I have rated many of her books 5 stars (see my other reviews). But I found this tale of two times and two loves difficult. It was distracting to move between a couple in Revolutionary War times to one in modern times.Just when I got into one romance, I was thrown into another. And I did not like the way the one in Revolutionary War times developed. You had to wait until modern times for a happy ending. So, this was not one of my favorites. And the whole reincarnation theme was also not one of my favorites either.Graham did a commendable job of telling the story, as she always does, but I just didn't think it was one of her best though perhaps not because of the writing but rather the story itself.

4-0 out of 5 stars Reincarnation Love Story
This story is one of those rare stories that you want to read more about reincarnation-- past lives led in a different era, especially if it is for true love and such amazing intense emotions that you cannot put the book down for any kind of outside distractions. I wish I can say there are more books like this, but there isn't. This one is a treasure. Don't lose a chance to read this one.

Product Description
It was the most dangerous role of her career . . . and possibly the last.

Playing a malicious diva on a popular daytime soap, actress Kelly Trent has garnered more than her fair share of hate mail. She doesn't believe anyone would really confuse her with her character, but when an accident on the set hits too close for the producers' comfort, Kelly is unceremoniously put on hiatus.

At her agent's suggestion, she agrees to appear in a music video, thinking the time away filming in the Florida Keys might be just the thing to put her life in perspective. But with two left feet, Kelly only hopes dance instructor Doug O'Casey can work miracles.

A former Miami cop, Doug still has a lawman's instinct for trouble, and the continued threats made against Kelly tell him that she is in danger. Now, as a deranged fan closes in, Doug realizes that someone close to Kelly wants more than her character killed off the show -- someone wants her stone-cold dead. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars A Real Stinker
I don't know what's more unbelievable...that this author has gotten her books published, or that I keep reading the garbage that she turns out.

This was one of the worst books I've ever read. The characters were unlikeable and complete idiots. The dialogue was inane ("Mel's hurt!" "Yes. Let's go to him!" "Okay!"). The storyline made absolutely no sense at all.

As usual, Heather Graham fills her books with so many characters that it's impossible to keep track of them all. And about 90% of them do absolutely nothing for the story but fill pages. Does she have a page quota to meet?

The worst part of her books is the horrible writing. Whoever told this woman that she could write should be locked in a room and forced to read her books non-stop for a month. No one speaks...everyone murmurs. On the rare occasion that someone does speak, they always do so "cheerfully." Any writer knows that you use exclamation points sparingly -- however, everything these characters say (or murmur) is an exclamation. It's distracting and annoying.

Finishing this book was painful. Ms. Graham should be grateful for the fact that I had no other books in the house, or I would've thrown this one in the trash after the first few chapters. Too bad there's not a zero star rating...although even that would've been too high for this stinker.

3-0 out of 5 stars Continuation of several storylines
Killing Kelly seems to be #3 of a series starting with #1 Picture Me Dead and#2 Dead on the Dance Floor but it also continues the stories of Long, Lean and Lethal, Conar and Jennifer's story and Dying to Have Her, Liam and Serena's story.I have read many of Graham's books and really enjoyed her Civil War stories as well as some of her contemporaries. Her latest mysteries of Picture Me Dead and Dead on the Dance Floor aren't bad but Killing Kelly had several errors that should not have gotten past her proof readers at all.First of all, at the end of Dead on the Dance Floor, it stated that Quinn went back to work for the FBI but in Killing Kelly, he is still a PI.Then it is obvious in book two that Doug was having an affair with Jane at the end of the book but in KK, suddenly he would never get involved with a coworker, etc. again after what happened to his lover who was murdered in Dead on the Dance Floor and he and Jane were just dance partners all of the time.

Then Serena and Liam have a year old son and Jennifer and Conan have a 3 yr. old daughter and twin babies but by the middle of the book, suddenly Liam is up walking the floor with his twin baby and later mention is again made of his twins. Plus Kelly refers to Liam and Serena having 3 children and several pets too. What a mixed up mess!Seems that not only the proof reader missed the boat but Ms. Graham also got her story all balled up too. This is the kind of error that just about ruins a book for me as I hate it when the author doesn't seem to know her own storyline or characters.I hope Ms. Graham either writes fewer books so that she can really concentrate on her story or have someone who pays attention do her proof reading so these kinds of errors can be corrected before the book is published.

Last of all, the reason for the murders and the men involved seemed pretty far fetched. The most I can say positive on this book is that it winds up several story lines if you are interested in what happened to several characters in other books.

3-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good
Although not one of the author's best, this book still has a decent plot and a lot of suspense. It's definitely worth reading if you are a fan of the author. The one major problem with the story is that there are too many suspects and when you find out who the real "killer" is, it's disappointing.

4-0 out of 5 stars Overall pretty good
Overall this was a pretty satisfying book from the Heather Graham collection. The suspense was tight and non-stop; the mystery was cleverly woven and multi-layered, leading to a complex whodunit that left me guessing until they unveiled the villian.Even the romance was fairly well done most of the time - except that, once again (my pet peeve with romances) the romantic interests were always getting annoyed with one another over the most idiotic things."What? You're concerned for my life and want to keep me safe??You unspeakable CAD!!I hate you now!!"*sigh*Then they would get along. Then . . "What? You neglected to tell me your life story the instant we met??You unspeakable CAD!!I hate you now!!!"ARGH!!Why do romance novelists feel the need to do that? So, therefore, I must reduce my rating to 4 stars.Otherwise, I enjoyed the rest of the story a great deal.

3-0 out of 5 stars & 1/2 stars:Not her best but still entertaining as a mystery
"Killing Kelly" uses characters from two previous books "Dead on the Dance Floor" and "Dying to Have Her".If you haven't read either of those, I highly recommend them as both mysteries and romances!

Kelly Trent who plays viciously sniping advice columnist and younger sister of Serena McCormick on the soap opera "Valentine Valley" has had death threats and during the filming of a scene is nearly killed when a mound of dirt gives way pitching her towards a cliff. Her manager, Mel, and Joe Penney, the soap producer, decide to write her out of the show for now and put her character in a coma.Kelly is not happy with this and feels the shows sponsor, Matt Avery, may have had undue influence on Joe and since she had dated and rejected Matt, maybe he is out for revenge.

Mel signs Kelly up to do a rock video with an up and coming group. As part of the video Kelly needs to do a tango and since it will be shot in the Florida Keys, Mel hires Doug O'Casey (former cop and brother of Quinn from "Dead on the Dance Floor") to teach her and be a bodyguard.

As the story progresses there are more near-misses on Kelly's life and sparks of all kinds between Kelly and Doug. There are also several suspects so the final climax is definitely a surprise both who and why.I felt the mystery was the best part and the romance a little jerky and not as consistent as Ms. Graham's usual romances.

This is still a fun read if just to meet Kelly's dog Sam! ... Read more

Product Description

The battle was raging, the air hot with smoke, loud with rifle fire. Then the air turned dim with an eerie mist, and for Jason Tarkenton, captain of the Confederate cavalry, the true nightmare began.

Vickie Knox was today's woman dressed like yesterday's, wearing Yankee garb to play a part. But playacting ended when a Reb stepped out of the mist and took her prisoner--for real.

They never should have met, never should have battled--never should have loved. But something had gone wrong with time itself, weaving together past and present like torn threads of a tattered tapestry. Something had gone wrong, and in mending such shredded silk, their love--and their lives--might be the final sacrifice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Last Cavalier
this is the third copy of this book that I have, the first was loaned to a friend in Arkansas, never returned, the second was loaned to someone in Mississippi, she still has it, I looked for it at Amazon, found it, this one I will not loan. It is a great book, I enjoyed it the first time, then I became a Civil War reenactor, and enjoyed it even more, I have been a reenactor for15 years, like the book even more.

5-0 out of 5 stars have I read this before?
I think this must be a reprint?Since I like Civil War of the Americas stories, I bought this one thinking it was new.Believe I read this long long time ago.So you might want to check your keeper shelves before buying.

Jason Tarkenton is a Confederate, caught in the hell of battle. The air is so thick with gunfire that he cannot find his unit.It gets thicker and thicker, until he makes a wrong turn, a la Twilight Zone and steps into modern day and right into the middle of a Civil War reenactment.

Vickie Knox was no Scarlett O'Hara, but a Yankee lady, and her dress reflects that.So when the handsome, sexy Confederate comes riding out of the mist, she thinks he is just another reinactor.Only this Johnny Reb is playing for real.He takes her captive making her think this man has taken his role a bit too much to heart, until he gradually makes her understand he is from the past.

Excellent Time-Travel skillfully done.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money.
This story was totally unbelievable and I don't mean the time travel. I found it pretty far-fetched for someone to have sex with their kidnapper the first night. The author should have invested her time to make the book longer in order to develop their relationship. This one won't even make it to the garage sell, it's going straight to the can! ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Slow Dance
Was very drawn out.....come on already and get to the point! There were some moments of suspense, but over all left me thinking, I wish this would end so I can read a book I will enjoy.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not Graham's best, but a good book nonetheless.
Lara Trudeau, one of the top ballroom dancers, dances her last dance, a spectacular performance, only to wind up dead on the dance floor. Cause: cardiac arrest due to a mix of prescription drugs and alcohol. Most believe it to be an accident, but Shannon doesn't. Sure, Lara was known to take a pill or two right before a dance to calm her nerves, but she never mixed with alcohol. To Shannon, it doesn't add up, but everyone else is convinced... all except for Doug O'Casey.

Doug had been sleeping with Lara and doesn't believe that Lara would have done that to herself either. Being a cop, and everyone at Moonlight Sonata dance studio knows that, he asks his brother, Quinn, to investigate. Quinn, a P.I., doesn't really want the job - he's supposed to be on vacation, sees the distress in Doug and reluctantly agrees.

Quinn begins asking questions, seeming innocent, but Shannon is suspicious of him, just as he is suspicious of her. Shannon was previously Ben's dance partner, but after a broken ankle, Ben had moved on to Lara, eventually marrying her, then divorcing. If anyone would be a suspect of murder, it would be Shannon. But Quinn spends more time with Shannon, becoming convinced it isn't her, and getting closer to her all the time. He's falling for her, just as she is for him, and neither are really liking the idea.

I would have never guessed who it was. There were too many possibilities, and at one point, it didn't make sense. You do get the point at the end, but it still leaves a bad taste. It was like the book was hastily written without any real thought. Surprising just the same.

Enough details of ballroom dancing so that you get the idea of what's going on. If you watch Dancing with the Stars, you'll catch on really quick. I do think, however, that the ballroom dancing angle was played just a little bit overboard.

Shannon and Quinn start off hot and heavy and remain that way. Other than the sparks between them, I didn't feel much spark in the rest of the novel, which would be disappointing for me. I've always given Graham's novels at least a 4-star rating if not a 5 - this one doesn't deserve that much from me. But I won't give up on her.

I really enjoyed this book and the story moved fast. This is the first book that I read by this lady but I do agree with one reviewer about the pooper scooper stuff. That was a little much but I enjoyed all the other characters and the story. A really good murder mystery in the world of dance.

3-0 out of 5 stars One Pooper-Scooper too many
As the final confrontation came down on the floor of the dance studio, I thought: "Please, not the pooper-scooper.That is too lame."Aghhhh, it was the pooper-scooper and it was too pat a climax.I cannot count the characters in this book.I kept having to flip back to see who was who.Actually, the book was fairly interesting, but it was kind of muddled and hard to keep track of everyone in it.Quinn and Shannon were okay, but I find it hard to believe that after 8 years of not dancing comepetitively anyone could just 'waltz' onto a floor and win a competition.Could Sarah Hughes just decide to re-enter amatuer skating and with the U.S. championships without first competing in some (any) other events?Oh well, the book was okay even if confusing and kind of cliched. Not great but maybe if you're a fan of Heather Graham, this is what you like. This is the first book I've read by her and will probably be the last.It was not suspenseful enough for me, and the mystery just was not there. The first bad guy was pretty obvious. The second not so obvious, but not really that menacing either. And in the end, everybody ended up happy with nothing but expectations of future lifelong happiness. sigh.Disapointed.But that final pooper-scooper.What a let down.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good book and mystery
This is book number 2 in a series and one of Heather Graham's better mystery romances.Quinn is great and can laugh at himself when he is trying to learn to dance and is truly a good big brother to Doug.Shannon, Quinn's love interest is a bit stiffer and tends to be somewhat dense at times but still is likeable.People who inhabit the dance studio are interesting, not only the instructors but also the students. While there is too much gossip and fussing among the dancers, it is still an entertaining book that I recommend. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Very entertaining and sexy book!
I thought this was a great book! It has suspense, yummy love scenes, a beautiful locale, and a great group of friends. I recommend this book if you are looking for an easy, light, and thrilling story!

1-0 out of 5 stars I hate not to finish a book but this was terrible
I barely made it through the prologue.Forced myself though the first chapter and could not go any further. It was terrible.I really enjoyed another book by the same author. This was really disappointing.

4-0 out of 5 stars Decent
So the story is not the best written or very deep, but it was an interesting, "grocery store paperback" type read. It is quite predictable and annoying at times, but it is still worth the read. It's my second book by Heather Graham, and I thought it was fairly decent.

1-0 out of 5 stars unbelievably bad!
I cant believe this is the tripe dished out by a best selling author...it reads more like a teenage novice's attempt at mystery. I couldnt even finish it

1-0 out of 5 stars Slow go to nowhere
Came across Graham's name in a round-a-bout way.Had to find out how good/bad were the books of someone who lives in a $1 million estate across the street from the exclusive Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, FL were.

I guess when you grind out "more than ninety novels" (book jacket blurg) you don't produce the quality of Michael Connelley in mystery fiction (read his Angels Flight and know joy)or an Elmore Leonard for awesomely good writting and research in a lot of different areas.

Geez, I would assume that someone who lives in the Miami area and writes "knowingly" about Key Largo would know that the body of water on the side of Key Largo opposite the Atlantic is NOT the Gulf of Mexico.

Add in dislikable characters all around -- given such little character development as there is -- and female characters who seems to do nothing but SCREAM at every development (combined with an overall plot and resolution that is mundane), you have a loser.

Keep on grinding 'em out, Heather, but I'll leave it to the rest of the great unwwashed to buy and/or read 'em.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Book
I had, had this book years ago and lent it out.Forgot who to.The stories are great.I have also purchase each one seperately in paperback. Anybody that loves Cival War love stories, this is great. HG uses alot of historical facts and places in her writing.

5-0 out of 5 stars one wore blue, one wore gray and one road west
This civil war trilogy was absolutely wonderful. Heather Grahams books are almost always 5 stars anyway but I really loved these. They turned me on to civil war romances and now I read everyone I can find........which is no small feat.
Also.......on the subject of Heather Graham, the very best book I have ever read was her book "Shanna". I keep extra copies
to give as gifts and loan out. It was full of everything, love, suspense, intrigue, historyand wonderful dialogue. Do yourself a favor and make shanna your next buy.

1-0 out of 5 stars Attributes like originality and plot wouldn't hurt
Have I read a worse book?porbably, but none comes to mind right now.A horrific- and even more damning: a BORING- collection of three novels which have a revolting tendency to stray into common territory.Joint synopsis: 3 beautiful, "spirited" belles flip for their 3 dark, handsomegents, who respectively happen to be on the other side of a raging CivilWar.Under the combined weight of insipid characters, predictableconclusions, and the weakly depicted, watered-down Civil War scenario, thewhole book fizzles into a veritable every-reader's-nightmare.What a wasteof time and energy! and thank heaven I'll never make the mistake of readingsomething like that again!

4-0 out of 5 stars one wore gray and one rode west are very worth reading
I lide reading Heather Graham`s books, and one wore gray please me much, I love Jesse, the hero and his heroin, Kiernan, they are exciting. One rode west was almost better, Jeremy is so sweet when he is boyish, christa is aadorable woman who in some way like Scarlett has the strength to survivethe war and to save Camaron which I love very much

5-0 out of 5 stars Historically correct and very interesting.
I think that One Wore Blue, And One Wore Gray, and And One Rode West are very interesting books.Once you start reading them, you can't put them down. Not only are they interesting, they are also historically correct. They include real people who did exsist in the time and very real facts.Iwould recommend this book to anyone. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Not on par with most of Graham's books
I have read many of Heather Graham's historical novels, and several of her more recent contemporary novels, so I picked this one up.Between the unbelievable situations and dialogue and the annoying and selfish characters, I found myself kind of hoping that the killer-the identity of whom I figured out well before the end-would knock off even more of them. There were some random elements thrown in that were, I guess, supposed to be titillating, but I just found them to be distasteful and irritating.Thank goodness that Graham's writing has evolved since this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars A sexy and suspenseful read
I enjoyed this book. The villain is very clever and Ms. Graham does an excellent job disguising him and offering several suspects.

Sean Black is a sexy bad boy hero. The cast of characters is diverse and interesting.I enjoyed the way Ms. Graham explores how people change, but old high school friends know the basic make-up of their friends despite the years that have passed.

Overall, this story is well written.Everyone is gorgeous, which is nice but not typical. The dialogue is quite formal at times. For example, a fourteen-year old boy states "...I don't feel traumatized, nor do I have any psychological hang-ups..." That's just one instance that came across as unrealistic. Also, it's my opinion Ms. Graham is too liberal with exclamation points.

5-0 out of 5 stars Drop Dead Gorgeous
Very good book. I couldn't wait to finish it to find out who the killer was.

1-0 out of 5 stars Banal
Good Agatha Christie style plot, but the characters were flat, vacuous and interchangeable. Totally lacking in believability.

5-0 out of 5 stars A nice story about classmates, a past and murder in Miami

5-0 out of 5 stars There Be Dragons
Princess Marina is the only surviving member of the house of D'Or.Her parents died tragically and suddenly Marina is left alone and at the mercy of her step-father, the Count of D'Artois. The count arranges Marina's marriage to Carlo Baristo.Marina isn't in love with Carlo nor will she ever be because she can barely stand the sight of him.Marina is in love with another and despairs at never being able to be with him.Have no fear, however, because Marina's fairy god, uh falcon, is here to save the day!

Loved There Be Dragons! It has an almost unearthly quality to it as well as very similar to my favorite childhood fairy tale, Cinderella.Geovan was horrible and wretched, the count was icky and foul, and Marina was an innocent princess.Who could ask for more?

Heather Graham added her own style of storytelling and I loved every word!My favorite parts of the book? The pictures! Using her own children as models, Ms. Graham has had There Be Dragons wonderfully illustrated and I was completely enchanted by the outstanding illustrations, beguiling story, and the promise of a happy ever after!

5-0 out of 5 stars fine fairy tale
Once upon the time in the medieval magical kingdom of Calasia, Marina is the only surviving member of her family, .the daughter of the House of D'Or, The Count of D'Artois, her step-father is giving Marina in marriage to the Count Carlo Baristo whom his fiancée loathes.Carlo's mother Countess Geovana arranged the marriage by ingratiating herself with D'Artois. While wandering outside the castle a concerned Marina meets a wounded falcon who speaks and insists she is the fairy Thomasina.

The fairy grants Marina three wishes. While one of them is an indulgence in which she asks for Carlo to make a fool of himself, the second is for her to spend a day with the love of her life. That man turns out to be Michelo, the son of Duke Fiorelli, engaged to marry her stepsister Daphne, whom he does not like.Marina and Michelo meet and fall in love. When his father hears from the falcon that Michelo should marry the woman nearest to where an olive branch falls; Geovana will prevent that from happening by conjuring up evil to insure the death of Marina.

People of all ages will enjoy Heather Graham's fine fairy tale enhanced with thirty colorful illustrations by Cherif Fortin & Lynn Sanders spread throughout the novel and a CD of original related Christmas songs. This is a spellbinding tale though like most fairy tales the cast is stereotyped between the forces of good and evil as malevolence can wear the disguise of attractiveness (think of the witch in Snow White) leaving intelligent people to go beyond the surface to the inner beauty.

5-0 out of 5 stars 3rd in Series - Great Revolutionary War Romance!
This is the 3rd in the North American Woman series (Sweet Savage Eden, A Pirate's Pleasure and Love Not A Rebel) and it is one you will really enjoy. It begins in Boston in 1773 when Lord Eric Cameron, Virginian with estates in England and descendent of the Camerons whose stories are told in the first two books, meets and falls in love with the beautiful and tempestuous Lady Amanda Sterling who is only 17.Lady Amanda, a loyalist, is in love with dashing Lord Robert Tarryton but he wants a title and is willing to marry a duchess he does not love to get it.While Amanda is expecting a proposal from Lord Tarryton, she learns of his betrothal to the duchess and she is heartbroken.Tarryton would take her as his mistress which shocks her and she spurns him for it.Lord Cameron has spoken to her father about marrying her and he has given his consent. To get away from her father who is brutally cruel to her, and to flee her only other prospect, Amanda consents to wed Eric. While she does not love him, she is explicably drawn to the handsome, virile man.But Eric Cameron is becoming an American patriot. He is a friend of George Washington and Patrick Henry, and he values liberty and is willing to risk all to keep it.Amanda is forced by her father who holds her much loved cousin Damien hostage to spy on her husband and the actions of the patriots.Eric suspects this and though he has fallen in love with her, he does not trust her and feeds her false information. They are passionate in their lovemaking and each loves the other but will say nothing not wanting to give the other power over them.George Washington believes Amanda may be "the Highness," the spy who is hurting the rebel cause.Eric believes it, too.Swept up in the tides of history, we discover that love still matters, treachery can come from those closest to us, and truth is hard to find.If you love American history and the Revolutionary War period, and if you love truly great historical romance, you'll love this one.Heather Graham's action does not disappoint.I really loved the way she showed us how the "lords" of England became the ordinary--or rather, extraordinary--men of America with no titles but with great courage and a great legacy.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great read, best of NAW series
This book has passion and depth. Both characters were sympathetic and well-fleshed out. I highly recommend this series over all. I was a little disappointed and angry when it seemed the main male character might be cheating on Amanda. Heather does this as a twist in many books, and while I know it makes for good plot devise (yes, I confess it does keep me turning pages), it makes for an overall weakening in the believability of their true love. It makes the female character seem a little weak and naive when she falls into bed with him, and leaves the reader saying, "Yeah, I don't believe you Heather, I'll just bet he didn't..." Still, I give this one four stars. I couldn't put it down. The history was well-presented, and the characters compelling and well-developed.

4-0 out of 5 stars Educational Boddice Ripper...
I thought it was really cool (and really very smart) to base a boddice ripper on and around the "Boston Tea Party" era. Mrs. Graham must have done some major research for this one. She included real life heros and gave real personalities to people like George Washington, Martha Washington, Ben Franklin and many many more. I'm not a history buff by any means so I can't say for certain if a lot or any of this was based on actual facts but from what I remember learning in school it seemed right on.

I really enjoyed Lord Eric Cameron and Lady Amanda Sterling...it was from the beginning a love hate relationship. I will say though there were a ton of facts facts facts...and at some points you may find yourself skimming, but overall this was a wonderful love story and very educational too!

I do have to point out the cover though...OMG it's so bad!

Really...don't judge this book by the cover!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of my all-time favorites!!
I love this book!!!I really enjoy historical romances and this one is set during the Revolutionary War.You can really feel for the characters as they are in conflict over their beliefs.
This is my favorite book from Heather Graham and one of my all-time favorites. It is the last of the North American Woman trilogy so be sure to check out Sweet Savage Eden (number 1) and A Pirate's Pleasure (number 2).If you want to continue to follow the Cameron legacy, check out Graham's Civil War trilogy: One Wore Blue, And One Wore Gray, And One Rode West. Not to be confused with her Florida based Civil War series starring the MacKenzie family.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love not a Rebel
I like how Heather Graham presents the conflict between two sides, be they army and indian or English loyalist and patriot she allows you to sympathize with both sides. It's not about who is collectively right or wrong but the conviction, passion and integrity of the individual characters. I enjoy the historical accuracy and, of course, the romantic plot. Mandy is zealous about her beliefs as is eric toward the opposition which makes for a political, marital nightmare! I do like the characters here. Amanda is sassy and defensive. But we can forgive her since she has a wicked, abusive father who fills her with rejection and low self esteem. Her ideals may be flawed but at least she is passionate about them. I really sympathized with her dilemma (black mailed by her father for her cousins life) but was frustrated that she would not confide in her husband. Amanda does; however, mature greatly throughout the book. I loved Eric. He is dignified yet indignant, righteously, of course. It is sad that he can't trust his wife but you can't blame him, he struggles painfully between loyalty to his cause and loyalty to his wife. He manages to stay devoted to both. It is very climactic and has a couple of great twists in it. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst book by this author...
Absolutely agree with every single negative comments on here.

Irrational, jealousy filled 28 "child" heroine, who constantly throws tantrums, it really gets tiresome and annoying. She's either jealous of or jealous at the hero who spends most of his time laughing at her.The book is riddled with way too many secondary characters, and they ALL happen to be beautiful.Every one of them. I for one really like having a beautiful heroine in a romance novel but the author took this too far. To top it all of,half the book is just one big preparation/set-up for her next book in this series.

This romance had very little chemistry, stilted dialog, too vast a number of dull secondary characters that will bore you to tears. The mystery..... LOL,really, too corny for words. Pass up on this snoozer of a romance novel.

3-0 out of 5 stars Off to a slow start
For some reason to me this book seemed to get off to a very slow start and I even considered not finishing it.However, I hung in there and I am glad I did because it finally caught my interest and I ending up enjoying the book a great deal.

There was one thing that drove me crazy. Why do so many authors try to make a heroine appear strong and independent by having her state over and over that "I can take care of myself" and then stupidly go sneaking off from the people who are trying to keep her safe.In this book, Jennifer Connolly had to prove that she could take care of herself even though she had reason to believe she was perhaps being stalked by a killer.

I think I am a very strong person and I can tell you straight up that if I thought a killer was after me I would accept the help of my husband (or boyfriend), the police, the mailman, the chef at the corner restaurant... anyone who could help keep me safe would be welcome to do so.When the threat was over I would go back to being self sufficient!

Also, although they were not related by blood, the fact that Jennifer and Conar were step brother and sister who became lovers and eventually married and had a child gave this book a slight "eeewwwww" factor for me.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another winner by Heather Graham!
If have never read a Heather Graham mystery/romance book, then you are really missing out!I love her writing style, it's the perfect mix of suspense and mystery with a dash of romance thrown in for fun!

This book, the first of a trilogy, takes place on the set of Valentine Valley, a popular day time soap.Jennifer Connolly has become a daytime diva almost overnight, but somewhere in the background a killer is stalking the show. He's killing his victims with refrence to Hitchcock movies and, of course almost every character in this book likes Hitchcock!Aside from the killings, this book also has several sub plots.Jennifer has fallen hard for her co-star, Conor Markham and also has to deal with her mother's failing health.

My only complaint is how immature these characters acted at times!Getting into fights and then slamming doors and stomping off down the hallway, for example. It reminds me of how I acted as a teenager, trying to irk my mom, not as an adult!Over all, this was a really fun, quick read though.I liked it so much that after I finished it, I immediately started reading Dying to Have Her.

3-0 out of 5 stars SOAP OPERA MURDER
LONG, LEAN AND LEATHAL was an average read, not great, but not bad.Someone is murdering people associated with the soap opera, Valentine Valley, copying the style of Alfred Hitchcock. It appears that the beautiful actress, Jennifer, is next on the list to meet her movie-style end.A large cast of characters with varying reasons to commit murder keeps the reader interested and guessing.A romance develops between Jennifer and the previously, much-despised Conar, which will prove beneficial in the end.A strong point to this story is that I could not guess the murderer until it was revealed. Then everything fell neatly into place.A negative is that there did not appear to be a connection between the story and the title.

1-0 out of 5 stars Sorry, but this book STUNK !
This one was worse than the other Heather Graham romantic suspense novels I read, the title of which I can't even remember!Even more so than the other one I read, this one was written extremely simplistically, almost on a young-adult level.I don't like this author's style of writing, at least her contemporary-romance-suspense novels. And this one had a stupid story, with no development of the characters, so I couldn't care less about any of them. The twist at the end, while a surprise to me, was, well, stupid. The character who turned out to be the "bad guy" and why he was the bad guy were contrived. It seemed like the author wrote herself into a corner and "had" no choice when it came down to who turned out to be her ultimate "bad guy" and why.I would steer clear of this author for contemporary romantic suspense. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Mixed Feelings
While I normally love Heather Graham's books. This one was a little disappointing compared to the rest I have read. It was still a good storyline and I did like the characters and setting. It just seemed to be lacking something. So its rating is really about a 3.5.

However, the second story in this volume by Debra Webb I absolutely loved. This is the first story I have read by her and will not be the last. I was emotionally involved in the storyline and what happened to the characters. The story had plenty of details and action with well defined and interesting characters. Definitely a strong 4-4.5 rating on this one. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a really good book
I couldn't put this book down, I read it at work and at home and attempted it in the car...but in the end I really loved it. The story of a strong women caught up in a world torn in tragedy and falling for a man she wished she could hate...in the long run all wounds were healed between them and it was great...the love they made only made a person (like myself)wish that they could find someone who could touch her in a way that is so much intamate and amazed and excited all at the same time. Well, I know that there is a sequal to this book...If anyone has information about the sequal please e-mail me and let me know of the title and where I might find it. Thank you. 4-0 out of 5 stars DARK STRANGER is a great book.
Dark Stranger by Heather Graham Pozzessere embodies perhaps of the classic conflicts in the romance genre: following in love with your enemy. But with her trademark writing style Graham carries it off with style andgrace.I like the fact the heroine is feisty and not afraid of voicing heropinion.Kristin's a historical romance amzaon warrior.Cole is cool too. And the civil war is classic and classy backdrop for the story to be setin.I would definitely recommend this book to any Heather Graham fan.

When Kat stumbles on a third felon, half-frozen and delirious, her shock deepens, because she recognizes Craig Devon immediately. What is the onetime love of her life doing back in town - and in such company? 4-0 out of 5 stars The Last Noel delves deeply into the bonds of family
Courtesy of CK2S Kwips and Kritiques

The O'Boyle family wants to spend one more Christmas together at their house in the mountains. The children are all growing up and before long will want to spend the holidays elsewhere. While Skyler is trying to make it a holiday to remember for her husband and children, danger is about to find them.

Not too far away, a robbery gone awry leaves the store owner dead and the felons escaping through the mountains, until their car crashes in a snow drift, stranding them within sight of the O'Boyle home. With a nor'easter blowing in, the felons seek refuge at the O'Boyle home, and thus usher the holidays in with terror.

Guns trained on her family, Skyler hopes and prays her family will find their way out of this living nightmare. Their only hope, daughter Kat has managed to escape and seeking help. But with the storm growing worse, will she be able to get to help in time? Or will this be The Last Noel for the O'Boyle family?

The Last Noel delves deeply into the bonds of family. Here we have a family that has grown distant from each other and has lost the true meaning of Christmas. No one except Skyler really wants to be there and some family members can barely get along. When their holiday getaway is invaded by criminals with a knack for terrorizing, the O'Boyle family learns the only way they'll make it out alive is if they remember what being a family really means and work together to erase the nightmare.

Surprisingly, the villains in the story add significantly to the story. Granted, one of them drove me out of my mind he was so darned annoying, but I actually found myself feeling sorry for, and liking one of them, Scooter, by the end of the story. I can't really say much since that may give away some spoilers, but there was a lot more to this seemingly bumbling fool who follows his buddy no matter what, than we see when we first meet him.

I love Heather Graham and have for years, and I especially enjoy the direction she's gone lately, veering into thriller territory. While I probably wouldn't classify The Last Noel as her best book ever, it is extremely well done and her characteristic voice shines through clearly. There is a touch of romance, though not much, since the focus on this story is the psychological element of a family in the grips of villains with nothing to lose.

4-0 out of 5 stars Ho Ho Ho
The Last Noel is a tension-filled thriller, front start to finish. The audio version is narrated by Christopher Lane, who does a very good job differentiating between the characters.Several points of view are used, and the story, though short, is a satisfying Christmas tale. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Contemporary Well Done!
I am a huge fan of Heather Graham Pozzessere (aka Shannon Drake) and her sweeping historical romances (see my other reviews) so this contemporary was a bit of a detour for me but I loved it.The hero, Rafe Tyler, from a successful family of merchant seamen and traders, is the tiger--a hunk to die for and a wise one at 37.He's looking for his half brother who he loves who disappeared into the wilds of Venezuela two years ago in a shoot out involving a theft of antiquities and a beautiful blonde model, Tara Hill.Tara has been cruelly treated by a twisted former lover and is afraid to trust. She needs cash as she's been away from modeling and hiding for the last two years since that horrible day. The first time Rafe and Tara meet, the chemistry between them makes their blood boil, but Rafe intends to use her to get to his brother if he's still alive and does not bargain on love with a woman he does not trust. This was a well told story, the characters finely drawn and the relationship believable.Graham is simply one of the very best at romance and I love all her novels. While this is one of her shorter novels at 249 pages, it is well worth the read. You won't be disappointed!
