Gallagher is urging a lobbying partnership between her organization and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). She envisions the two organizations jointly soliciting an industry-wide consensus on alternative risk-funding legislation. Once the consensus is reached, the two could approach legislators without making them choose between insurance regulator and risk manager interests. NAIC Pres David J. Walsh supports the idea.

Must read for oral boards.
The best oral board review book for a sense of the format and style of the actual oral boards. Combined with Yao, and Big Red, there will be no surprises on your test. There was not one thing on my oral, that I had not seen before, in one of these books.

read this bookfor HOW to answer the questions then readyao and artusio's bookfor what questions are on the exam (talking oral boards here). make sure you do some practice oral exams. the testers are fair but they play by their own rules and if you do not know the rules you have no chance of passing. look at it this way - could you win at poker if you did not know the rules of poker?the exam is not a real test of your real world decision making because that would be impractical - it would then have to be like an ACLS mega-code. instead the examiners are going to put you through a test to see how you think. HOW YOU THINK. not what you think, *HOW*.learning how to think is actually not difficult. and once you have it down, the oral exam is easy. good luck and if it is any consolation i really do empathize.

An Excellent Start !

I WAY over-studied for the Orals (passed Sept 2005).This book was almost the exact format I had in my 2 exams.Don't be fooled by the simplistic approach they offer, it really was how the test went.

"Would you give blood to this patient ?"

"Yes, I would"

"Why", etc.
NOT- Whats the MAC of enflurane in this Patient, and other minutia that some of the board review courses push.

I also STUDIED "Clinical Cases In Anesthesiology" by Reed-Fantastic!-not as over-detailed as Yao, though I read it (Yao) in residency.

A helpful tip might be to make flash-cards of scenarios, ex: Hypoxia, Hypotension, Things that can go wrong when transporting a patient from the ICU, etc.It definitely helped with the test and, frankly having committed them to cold memory for this test has made me a better doctor.Everyone can discuss the DDx for hypotension, but being able to effectively run through the list in a SICK patient is a different matter altogether. Wanting More
Depression and Post Traumatic Stress Sydrome was finally put in layman's terms. This new Author has written about some eye opening experiences where one could understand how dibilitating these illnesses can become.I found this book informative, witty and sad all at the same time.Finishing this book left me wanting more.The book made the ladder on its cover so remincent of the climb that we all must take in order to overcome adversity.Citizen Mike showed us tha emerging from The Gray Zone is possible and that it is our personal responsibility to try to achieve it. ... An experienced League of Ireland official, he took charge of the 2008 FAI Cup Final in the RDS, Dublin. Buttimer earned his nickname after a number of colourful incidents preceding and during FAI eircom League matches involving various team kits, one incident of which led to legal threats by the kit supplier of Sligo Rovers. Wrong edition
The picture may seem the most current edition of the Empire Army Book, but it is in fact the PREVIOUS edition. Don't let the picture fool you. THE BOOK IS OBSOLETE!

I received the wrong edition of the book. But, the seller refunded me with no trouble.

Some people are doing false advertising!
The picture up above is for the 7th edition/3rd printing of the Dwarf army book.I bought used off this entry thinking that this was a deal.Instead, I got a 6th edition/2nd printing book.It is important because the rules have changed in between those printings.So if you are going to buy a used army book off Amazon, find out what edition they actually have because some sellers are NOT being straight forward about the book they have! ...
