Product Description
A wry and sumptuous look into the world of celebrity . . .

For Gaboraholics everywhere, here is the story of Jolie, Zsa Zsa, Magda, and Eva, complemented by a glorious collection of personal photos, movie posters, press clippings, and other never-before-published Gaborabilia.

The Gabors! Could they be the most famous sisters in the world? Why, of course, dahlink. And now, in worshipful words and fabulous pictures, here they are in all their glory.

The Gabors! From their beginnings in Hungary, where Mama Jolie molded her daughters Zsa Zsa, Eva, and Magda to glow in the spotlight, conquer kings and millionaires, amass fortunes, break hearts, and become world famous in the process.

The Gabors! Their arrival on Broadway and in Hollywood, their twenty-three (!) combined husbands, their royal progression through movies, radio, nightclubs, television talk shows, and every possible avenue to fame and glamour.

The Gabors! Their names, long ago, became part of our descriptive lexicon. Their voices, as distinguishable as any since the invention of recorded sound. Their faces, recognizable as any captured on film. Revered and oft ridiculed, they evolved from parodies of glamour and luxury to ultimately become icons of endurance and style.

The Gabors! As extolled and exalted in a one-of-a-kind book based on the personal memorabilia collection of Anthony Turtu, arguably the world's biggest fan of the Budapest Bombshells. Along with creative director Donald F. Reuter, he has given us a once-in-a-lifetime, exquisitely produced treat, a lavish collection of Gaborabilia that secures the Gabors' rightful place at the top of the pop-culture registry. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars DAHLINK - IT'S MAHVELOUS!...almost
Very fun book on the Gabors. Great idea & title. Mostly great photos. But...to my great surprise and disapointment, Zsa Zsa's most gorgeous pin-up movie poster, most sought after, most famous is "Queen Of Outer Space" - there is not ONE picture of the American 1-sheet film poster! HOW could you omit that???! If you can't afford the original, the author could have bought a copy on Ebay and photographed that. A glaring omission! The slapping of the cop incident is poorly covered too. So, depending on whatyou are looking for - it's fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars Oh...the past~!
This was shipped in a very timely fashion....and a blast into the past.Lots of great pictures of people my husband and I remember ....and we learned a lot of things of interest about their lives. Unseen pictures to us....a happy purchase.

5-0 out of 5 stars Legendary Gabor
This book is a must for anyone interested or curious about the Gabor Girls.

The book has many quotes from the Girls and is an education in both who these three Ladies really were and how they moved through their lives.

The book contains many professional art photographs of the Girls and their husbands.

The book also contains many pictures of items that the Gabor Girls had promoted which makes the book a very good guide to those interested in Gabor Memorabilia.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's Easy, Dahling!
Zsa Zsa's book "How to catch a man, How to keep a man, and how to get rid of a man" is like having a pocket sized wealthy grandmother! her advice would be deemed "impractical" or "dated" by todays standards, but She clearly knows what she is talking about. I believe this book was meant to be light hearted and humourous, not a serious self help book on dating. Naturally, if you're looking for a serious guide to finding your soul mate, this is certainlynot the book for you. If you are a fan of Zsa Zsa and her over the top approach to things like love, glamour and marriage you'll love reading her old fashioned "advice" on how to "keep" a man! I love this book! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars What a Daaalink !!!
NOw I got this book for a penny... Yeah hard back too. It's a cracker. A large proportion of the book IS about her undying love for and relationship with George Sanders and her regret at not marrying him a second time just before his death. Some of the stories are a little contradictory (think her memory must have been on the blink) but its quite shocking the infadelity bed hoping she reveals amongst her suitors (and herself and husband Sanders)as well as all the other great stars of the day...they were all at it APPARENTLY. If your a fan of Sanders GET this book... infact, get this book anyway cos its a great read.

5-0 out of 5 stars An enchanting read
Zsa Zsa Gabor's "One Lifetime Is Not Enough," is a terrific read.Zsa Zsa Gabor and co-author Wendy Leigh, provide an entertaining, fun, fast-paced book about the glamorous life of the charming, beautiful, spirited, witty, celebrated Zsa Zsa Gabor.I loved it and wish it had been much, much longer!

5-0 out of 5 stars ~A BOOK ACUALLY WORTH READING~

2-0 out of 5 stars "One Life" is too much
A possible rejected title for Zsa Zsa Gabor's autobiography: "All The Men I Slept With, And All The Gems They Bought Me." Gabor's biography "One Life is Not Enough" is as full of dishing as a kitchen sink, but after a while her gossipy revelations become boring instead of entertaining.

Born to a rich Hungarian family, Zsa Zsa Gabor first got married at the age of fifteen, but left her husband after the death of her lover, Turkish leader Ataturk. Eight more marriages came after that, including George Sanders, Prince Frederick von Anhalt, and Conrad Hilton (yes, from THAT Hilton family). Not to mention a small army of lovers that included Richard Burton, Sean Connery, Frank Sinatra, and more.

Gossipy memoirs are always a fun guilty pleasure, the sort of thing to tuck inside a weekly news magazine at lunch. Gabor reveals plenty of sexy details (including making out with Greta Garbo) that are above and beyond even what tabloids usually print, and she does in it a very straightforward, matter-of-fact manner.

Unfortunately, her exploits start to get annoying. The word "diamond" is used constantly (we get it, Zsa Zsa -- you love diamonds), and there is little of Gabor's life except who she slept with and why. There isn't a great deal about her daughter or family... except when ex-hubby George Sanders married her sister Magda. Some of her stories are questionable -- like Sanders wanting to watch Gabor bed a Catholic priest, or Gabor sleeping with Sinatra to make him leave her apartment. And others raise weird questions (if she's so amazingly sexy, why did her husbands keep cheating?).

Gabor gushes ad nauseam about her assorted lovers and husbands, few of which are actually around much. Initially, since her first lover was a god-king, it's an interesting tale. But when she gets to Hollywood, these guys mostly start to blur together. What's more, Gabor certainly was telling the truth when she said she liked being around men more than women -- her descriptions of women like Ingrid Bergman, Grace Kelly and any other beautiful heterosexual actress are pretty catty, to say the least.

Zsa Zsa Gabor's autobiography starts off as a delicious gossipfest, but eventually deteriorates into a listing of the men she slept with and/or married. "One Life is Not Enough" is way more than enough. ... Read more

This is a wonderful book about the famous Gabor girls and their families.Very interesting reading and very educational as to who these three ladies really were.

The pictures within the covers of this book are all of the best quality and the pictures of the items bearing their names a very good guide to those who are interested in collecting Gabor Memorabilia.

I would recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in the Gabor family and the way the girls moved through society to become accomplished in entertainment and in high society.

This is an excellent telling of the extraordinary lives of the Gabor women. It is written in a story telling fashion, not simply reciting the events interjected with commentary. I would greatly recommend this to anyone looking for an entertaining book.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE GABORS.
I have a copy of "SUCH DEVOTED SISTERS: THOSE FABULOUS GABORS, and it's a very good book.It tells about their childhood in Hungary, then coming over here to the United States during World War II, and getting themselves established as international superstars.

Although Zsa Zsa's life has been full of scandal, Eva had very little scandal in her life.I can certainly understand why Eva was devastated after hearing that her last two husbands had cheated on her and were having affairs, and never remarried again after that. She hated cheating and lying, and because she was very hurt by these last two divorces, she managed to pull herself together and move on.

This book needs to be updated because a lot has happened since this book was first published in 1985.Zsa Zsa was arrested for slapping a Beverly Hills police officer in 1989, went on trial for it, was found guilty, and sentenced to three days in jail.Their mother Jolie's third husband died in 1990.

It should also tell about Eva's untimely illness and sudden death in 1995.On June 20 of that year, she went to Mexico on a week's vacation, and while she was there, she fell and broke her hip.She was then taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los
Angeles, and upon be admitted, her lungs will already filling up with fluid. She was diagnosed with viral pneumonia and given antiobotics and medication, but then she fell into a coma and died on July 4, America's 219th birthday.Unfortunately, her longtime friend and companion Merv Griffin was in Atlantic City at the time of her death, but he did go to the funeral, which was held on Saturday, July 8 at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Beverly Hills.

Jolie died on April 1, 1997 at the age of 101, and Magda died of a kidney infection just two months later, on June 6, just three days before her 80th birthday. Isn't it ironic that Eva died on the Fourth of July, Jolie on April Fools' Day, and Magda on the anniversary of both the D-Day invasion and the day that Bobby Kennedy was killed.

With the deaths of Eva, Jolie, and Magada (their father, Vilmos died back in the early 60's.He stayed in Hungary, and did not come to America.), Zsa Zsa is now the only surviving Gabor.Zsa Zsa has sort of stayed out of the spotlight ever since Eva died.I have read in the tabloids that she misses her mother and sisters dearly and just simply talks about the old days.Zsa Zsa should understand that Eva, Jolie, and Magda are in a better place today, and that she will one day see them again. In fact, in a 1997 article of "THE GLOBE", which was published at the time of Magda's death, Zsa Zsa said that there'll be so much fun in Heaven when all the Gabors are there, and guess who's going to be there with them; me.

I had been a big fan of Eva since 1966 when I first saw her on "GREEN ACRES", and when I heard the news of her death, I couldn't believe it at first. But then in August of '97, my cable company added TV Land to it's lineup, which at the time was airing the reruns of "GREEN ACRES", and I just started crying on and off.I just couldn't accept the fact that my very favortie actress and the idol of my youth, Eva Gabor, was now deceased. No other actor or actress in Hollywood will ever take her place as my favorite performer of all time.Although she's gone now, Eva is definitely not forgotten, and she shouldn't be forgotten by Hollywood either.I plan to visit Eva's grave at Westwood Memorial Cemetery the next time that I go out to Los Angeles. When I lay flowers at her grave, I just want to let her know that I was her Number One fan, that I truly and deeply miss her, that I think about her all the time, and that I'll see her in the next life.To me, EVA GABOR STILL LIVES!! ... Excerpt: Max Scheler (August 22, 1874, Munich May 19, 1928, Frankfurt am Main) was a German philosopher known for his work in phenomenology, ethics, and philosophical anthropology. Scheler developed further the philosophical method of the founder of phenomenology, Edmund Husserl, and was called by José Ortega y Gasset "the first man of the philosophical paradise." After his demise in 1928, Heidegger affirmed, with Ortega y Gasset, that all philosophers of the century were indebted to Scheler and praised him as "the strongest philosophical force in modern Germany, nay, in contemporary Europe and in contemporary philosophy as such." In 1954, Karol Wojtyla, later Pope John Paul II, defended his doctoral thesis on "An Evaluation of the Possibility of Constructing a Christian Ethics on the Basis of the System of Max Scheler." Max Scheler was born in Munich, Germany, August 22, 1874, to a Lutheran father and an Orthodox Jewish mother. As an adolescent, he turned to Catholicism, likely because of its conception of love, although he became increasingly non-committal around 1921. After 1921 he disassociated himself in public from Catholicism. Scheler studied medicine in Munich and Berlin, both ...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=796629 ... Read more

Excerpt: Zsa Zsa Gabor (pronounced ; born February 6, 1917), also known as Sári Prinzessin von Anhalt, is a Hungarian-American actress, socialite and former beauty queen. Zsa Zsa Gabor was born as Sári Gábor in Budapest (then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire), the middle daughter of Vilmos Gábor, a soldier, and Jolie Gábor. Her sisters, Magda and Eva, also became actresses and socialites. Following studies at a Swiss boarding-school, Madame Subilia's, Gabor competed in the Miss Hungary beauty contest in 1936, but was allegedly disqualified for being underage (according to her mother's biography). On a trip to Vienna in the same year, she was discovered by the famous tenor Richard Tauber and was invited to sing the soubrette role in his new operetta Der singende Traum ("The Singing Dream") at the Theater an der Wien, her first stage appearance.
