450 pages of social and religious history and many Quaker revivalists
Annals of the early Friends - A series of biographical sketches by Anne Budge is 450 pages of social and religious history; many of whom were Quaker revivalists who saw 1000s turn to the faith. Many of whom moved in spiritual gifts, discernment and prophetic acts.

I througherly enjoyed the book which must have about 70 different character sketches into 12 or so chapters, with references to about another 30 or so Quakers. The author (or editor) could have done a better job in how the character sketeches were laid out within each chapter as there is a lot of going back and forth and jumping around within the minor characters.

Lots of history in how the Society of Friends - Quakers spread from Middle England in 1654 to the New World, America, West Indies, Malta (and the Inquisition), two very brief references to Egypt and Holland and Germany; as well as what we now know as the UK. there interaction with society and the role of the Kings and Queens of England as well as many other nobles and Justices of the Peace.

Lots of women preachers, how the message reached London, and other counties in England; the terrible persecution under 5 monarchs, prisons, dungeons, deaths, stocks, some stats, bio's of many lives - some much more detailed than others.

All-in-all, a very enjoyable book of what God did through fully sold out vessels who were empowered by the Holy Spirit, to spread the Light of the Truth that Jesus Christ is Lord and that there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved. ... Read more
