Great read!!!
Julia Gast, Red Fox Woman, is a heroine that many of us can identify with.She's strong willed, adventuresome, and creative, but also can be vulnerable.Judy Ann Davis has, in her first novel, given us a believable set of characters.The story is set in the Colorado Territory in the 1880's.There are ranchers, potters, horse thieves, a despicable fiance, a lovable renegade Indian, and even a US Marshall!Ms Davis gives us romance, mystery, and humor all woven into a believable story line.What a fun read!

What's not to love??
Cowboys, Indians and fiery redheads.Who doesn't want to read this book?This book is a clever, fun filled, romantic romp through old time Colorado Territory.Back when Colorado would have eaten up ski tourists and film festival goers.Highly recommended.

Red Fox Woman
If you're looking for a "take along" novel, Judy Ann Davis's, Red Fox Woman, is a good book for vacation, travel and those waiting room visits. This mystery, western and romance genre-combination novel is made up of 28 easy readable chapters, and allows the reader the ability to stop at convenient points within the story.
Set in Golden, CO, the novel centers around a Pennsylvania potter and four rancher brothers with an adopted sister. Julia Gast has fled from Lancaster, PA, to avoid not only her fiancé, but also a secretive past. Along with a renegade Indian, Julia tries to raise and sell horses besides establish her pottery business where she sells ring flasks.
If you like true westerns with horse races, fights, Indians and whistling bullets, Red Fox Women does it well. And, you can't help but enjoy the gun-toting, strong-willed but feminine women as well.

Judy Ann Davis is off to a terrific start with her first novel, Red Fox Woman.The diversified writing background described in her bio shows throughout her book.It's easy to visualize the colorful characters, and their interaction puts fun in each chapter.The historical setting seems well researched and the details provide a colorful and realistic background.The novel reads well and is a pleasant mix of western adventure, a bit of intrigue and romance, with humor sprinkled about.Very enjoyable!

With her fast-paced, but easy reading style, first-time author, Judy Ann Davis, takes you back to the Old West in the Colorado Territory.Pennsylvania Potter, Julia Gast, flees to Golden, Colorado in 1868 to set up her redware pottery business, raise horses and escape her past.Unknown to her, her now deceased uncle, had deeded the ranch to both her and an adopted sister of four rancher brothers.When trouble breaks out, Flint Ashmore, oldest brother, and Julia Gast must band together to find the culprits causing it.

The author provides enough twists and turns to provide an entertaining western story, and you will have no trouble finding colorful characters to carry the tale forward, including a renegade Indian, Two Bears, who names Julia Gast, Red Fox Woman.The novel has action, adventure, romance--and a touch of humor.

I was looking for more Celtic designs that I could incorporate in to my quilts.Most of the designs are more suitable for painting and drawing.I enjoyed the suggestions for jewelry but no really good designs for needlework. :( ... Read more

4 year old daughter loves it!
We got this book from the library, and my daughter loves it so much, we kept renewing it!
So, now I got on the site to get our own copy as I am tired of renewing! This is such an unusual, original book, all the children that visit us love it, too - the pictures are a blast! I am glad to see so many positive reviews, too. This one is going to be part of our library - and I rarely do buy children's books.

Delightful Spin on Popular Favorites
What a delightful collection of poems for children...they make them laugh, which in turn, makes me very happy!They are silly, somewhat irreverant, but tasteful.

Monstorously Funny and Mildly Creepy!
Mother Goose may never be the same...Sierra's Monster Goose looks like the traditional frumpy goose, but look more closely...yes, there it is.Monster Goose has that evil gleam in her eye, not to mention a discreet pair fangs...not only does she look more sinister than Mother Goose, her tales are decidedly creepier and CHOCK full of monsters, snakes, bats, slugs, and creepy crawlies of all kinds!What we get in Monster Goose is a creepy parody of our most favored nursery rhymes!Sierra covers Hickory Dickory Dock (Slithery Dithery Dock), Mary Had a Little Lamb (Mary Had a Vampire Bat), Jack and Jill (Jill and Jaques), Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (Twinkle Twinkle Little Slug), and many more!! Some are cute, clever, witty, and just the right amount of creepy...while others not so much, thankfully where that happens, Davis' illustrations make up for it!The illustrations here are simply delightful...Mary with her vampire bat is a green, Goth chick (too funny); little Jack Horner is a green cannibal, complete with nose ring; Bo Peep has vampire sheep peeking around a tree at the unsuspecting werewolf; the zaniness is just perfect for this horrible nursery rhymes!

Overall, I give it four stars, the text and illustrations are fun, creepy and a perfect match for one another...it only gets four stars because not all of the rhymes work (some are strained and aren't all that funny or cute).Obviously you'd be doing yourself a favor to add this to your reading repertoire around Halloween, but there's simply NO reason not to add a little Monster Goose to your reading list at any time of the year!I'll be buying a copy of this for my permanent library!As a side now, I noticed, when I went to get some publishing information for when I post this to my blog, that many reviewers/parents complained about the use of gasoline and turpentine in a couple of the rhymes...if your kids would think it was ok to use those things for drinking or brushing their teeth, you haven't done your job as a parent.As for the calls that this would frighten kids...well, that's rather the point...but really, this is more campy creepy that genuinely scary, again it's a matter of not just how children perceive it...it's how YOU treat it as well.These are silly rhymes that take a monsterific twist on the classic Mother Goose nursery rhymes.

Love it!
Apparently this is either a love it or hate it book, so add me to the former.As to the scary illustrations, look at the cover.It is very indicative of the style of illustrations inside, so anyone who is suprised that this *monster* book has monsterous illustrations wasn't paying attention to the front.What are they supposed to look like, Care Bears?And as to the dangerous issues of ingesting gasoline and turpintine, I just used it as an educational experience and told my son that since these were made up creatures they could do unreal things, like drink poison, which we as humans could never, ever do because we could die.And, wonder of wonders, he got it.Have a little faith in your kids to separate fantasy from reality - if they can't, you have no business reading them monster books anyway.

This is a very clever, fun book and I wish it had been even longer.We got it first from the library but bought our own copy after the first reading because it is one that we parents don't get bored with reading over and over.The rhymes are great and there is always some new detail to discover in the pictures.
