Excerpt: Jeffrey Green is an American writer and video game journalist, and the last editor-in-chief of the now-defunct Games for Windows: The Official Magazine (formerly Computer Gaming World), which was published by Ziff Davis Media. He is currently employed by the Sims division of developer Electronic Arts, where he has served as a designer, producer, and writer. Green kept his job at Ziff Davis after the closing of GFW for several months, before announcing his departure from the company. While an employee at Ziff Davis, Green hosted the weekly CGW Radio podcast (which later became GFW Radio), and currently hosts The Official EA Podcast. Green graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in English; in 1991 he joined Ziff Davis Press, a subsidiary of Ziff Davis Media which published computer books. Later, he moved to the weekly Machintosh trade journal MacWEEK as a reviews editor. While getting the opportunity to write professionally, the magazine's subject matter was "frankly didn't give much of a shit about." 3-0 out of 5 stars Not the same as the US edition.
If you are buying this edition because it is oodles cheaper than the regular US edition, please note that in addition to all units being metric, the homework problems will be in a different order, and it also includes some problems not in the regular US edition.

3-0 out of 5 stars book review
The book that I received was the book that I wanted, but I was under the impression that it would be in better shape than it was, but other than that, it was great.

1-0 out of 5 stars AMAZON CHARGED ME $66 DOLLARS TO RETURN THIS BOOK
I ordered this book for my daughter to use at univeristy.Upon receiving it we realized that it did not have the Wiley computer code for her school and therefore she couldn't use it.I returned the book, unused within four days of receiving it and Amazon.com charged me sixty six dollars plus shipping for the return. DON'T ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY IF THERE IS EVEN A SLIGHT CHANCE THAT YOU WILL NEED TO RETURN THE BOOK>Heck don't even think of ordering from a book store that charges $66 dollars on a $132 book that was returned unused within 4 days.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not Ideal
I used this book for my Multivariable Calculus class last semester. It is, by far, the worst calculus book I have ever used. Most math books are not particularly user-friendly, but this one is truly terrible. It is ok for introducing the very basics, but it does not give students enough information or good examples to complete the problems or learn the material as well as is expected in a college course.
All the example problems are far easier than the actual problems at the end of the chapter. The book seems to be proud of this fact because it says in its "note to students" at the front of the book that you will notice that the problems are rarely similar to the example problems. This is all well and good, but students need some basic exercises to complete to learn the general concept before they can be expected to complete difficult, application-based problems.I found it extremely frustrating when I could not get problem number one in a section, and I am a strong math student and did well in my course.
I also remember several sections that would introduce new theorems without any explanation and direct students to a problem at the end of the chapter. When I would get to that problem, it would offer absolutely no guidance whatsoever and simply ask you to show that the theorem is true.I found this completely useless.
Additionally, I attest that curl and divergence are explained better on Wikipedia than in this text.
The bottom line is that, if this book is not required for your course, do not go near it.However, if it is, go ahead and get supplemental materials (I thought How to Ace the Rest of Calculus: The Streetwise Guide, Including Multi-Variable Calculus was reasonably helpful) and try your best to get a good professor.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst Calculus 3 book
First off not all the odd problems are given in the back of the book.Second, the problems that the answers are given to are the EASY problems.Check this out...(this is the reason i'm writing this review...# in Chapter 17.3 #11-19 asked to draw vector fields and the answers section gives you the answer to the problems they solved as examples earlier in the chapter!!!How the F#*% am I supposed to learn if I cant check my answers. My professor asked us to solve Q#16
F(r)= -r/||r||^3there are no examples remotely close to this.

This happens in almost every chapter. It just stinks when you actually want to learn and all the teacher does is regurgitate the book who gives easy examples and asks some mind bending questions #Q#16 isnt mind bending but some are!)

If you need help with Calc just youtube MIT and actually learn something!

DONT BUY THIS BOOK, and if you see it on your syllabus find a good supplement!

He writes in several genres, but is primarily known for his science fiction. His novel Ender's Game (1985) and its sequel Speaker for the Dead (1986) both won Hugo and Nebula Awards, making Card the only author to win both of American science fiction's top prizes in consecutive years. A devout and outspoken Mormon, Card is a board member of the National Organization for Marriage. Card is descended from Charles Ora Card and Brigham Young. Card was born in Richland, Washington, and was raised in Santa Clara, California as well as Mesa, Arizona and Orem, Utah. He served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Brazil and graduated from Brigham Young University and the University of Utah; he also spent a year in a Ph.D. program at the University of Notre Dame. Card lives in Greensboro, North Carolina, an environment that has played a significant role in Ender's Game and many of his other works. Card began his writing career primarily as a poet, studying with Clinton F. Larson at Brigham Young University. During his studies as a theatre major, he began "doctoring" scripts, adapting fiction for readers theatre production, and finally writing his own one-act and full-length plays, several of which were produced by faculty directors at BYU. He also explored fiction writing, beginning with stories that eventually evolved into The Worthing Saga. Excerpt: Jesse Boulerice (born August 10, 1978 in Rouses Point, New York) is an American professional ice hockey player who currently plays for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Boulerice's notoriety stems from two violent incidents, one when playing junior hockey where he used his stick like a bat and smashed Guelph Storm forward Andrew Long in the face, and the other in the NHL where he cross-checked Ryan Kesler in the face. Both incidents gained much media attention and are often used as examples of extreme hockey violence. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, 133rd overall. He has played for the Carolina Hurricanes, St. Louis Blues and Philadelphia Flyers. He was charged with assault in 1998 while playing with the Plymouth Whalers after a violent stick swinging incident with Guelph Storm forward Andrew Long. Boulerice's role as an enforcer has been reduced lately due to the NHL's stricter penalties for instigating a fight, which can now be punished by a $10,000 fine to the coach if it occurs in the final five minutes of a game. Boulerice is known for being the victim of an Aaron Downey left hook on February 11, 2003 after failing to land the first punch, which left Boulerice with a broken jaw and a concussion. Boulerice spent the night in the hospital as his Carolina Hurricanes lost in overtime to the Dallas Stars, 2-1. On October 10, 2007, Boulerice delivered a cross-check to the face of Canucks forward Ryan Kesler, with his team up 7-2 in the 3rd period. Product Description
A DYING MAN’S GREATEST TREASURE…

Mortimer Moorecook, retired Wall Street raider, avid collector, is losing his fight against cancer. With weeks to live, a package arrives at the door of his hillside mansion—an artifact he paid millions for…a hominoid skull with elongated teeth, discovered in a farmer’s field in the Romanian countryside. With Shanna, his beautiful research assistant looking on, he sinks the skull’s razor sharp fangs into his neck, and immediately goes into convulsions.

OPENS THE DOOR TO AN ANCIENT EVIL...

A rural hospital. A slow night in the ER. Until Moorecook arrives strapped to a gurney, where he promptly codes and dies.

WHERE DEATH IS JUST THE BEGINNING.

Four well-known horror authors pool their penchants for scares and thrills, and tackle one of the greatest of all legends, with each writer creating a unique character and following them through a vampire outbreak in a secluded hospital.

The goal was simple: write the most intense novel they possibly could.

Which they did.

A Word of Warning:

Within these pages, you will find no black capes, no satin-lined coffins, no brooding heartthrobs who want to talk about your feelings. Forget sunlight and stakes. Throw out your garlic and your crosses. This is the Anti-TWILIGHT.

NOTE: DRACULAS is a full length novel, 80,000 words long. But this ebook is also brimming with an additional 80,000 words of extras and bonuses:

- a clickable table of contents
- a round-robin interview with Strand, Wilson, Crouch, and Kilborn about writing DRACULAS
- deleted scenes
- two alternate endings
- four excerpts from the authors’ other works
- the short story “Serial” by Crouch and Kilborn
- the short story “Cub Scout Gore Feast” by Kilborn and Strand
- the short story “A Sound of Blunder” by Kilborn and Wilson
- author biographies
- comprehensive clickable bibliographies
- an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the writing of DRACULAS, delivered through a collection of over seven hundred emails between the writers as they were brainstorming and writing the book

4-0 out of 5 stars A bloody good read
Although this kind of book is not my usual fare, I have to say I really enjoyed it. What made this book for me was not the blood and gore - and I must admit I skimmed through some of that - but the characters who have stayed with me long after the book.

The heroic nurse, the minister whose wife is about to have a baby, the guy who loves guns, and ex-husband who redeems himself - all quite memorable.

And, the occasional touches of humor, best represented by the clown who was bitten and then, as he ravaged his victims, took the time to turn certain body parts into.... well I don't want to give it away but I found it very funny and creepy all at once.

If you are fan of vampires that do not sparkle, but writing that does, I wouldn't hesitate to buy this book. Even if you are like me, and "close your eyes" at some of the gore, I bet you find it memorable. I know I did and I hope there will be a sequel.

2-0 out of 5 stars More Gore Than Horror
It's true, four authors seamlessly collaborate on a horror story.I could guess who wrote what, but it wasn't obvious. At first glance, this book should have everything I love and that's why I bought it.However, it really wasn't my taste at all. It's so disappointing when that happens.BUT, it might be up someone else's alley.

The book starts out with a disclaimer, which I thought clever.I'm a fan of horror and not easily scared.I say bring it on, I dare you to frighten me!Sadly, Draculas was more gore than horror. The first half of the story is page after page of blood, brains and slaughter.I felt like I was stuck in a bad B horror movie.Perhaps, because this reads like a screenplay rather than a book.It begins with a cast of characters, most of which are disposable and are only introduced (cameo) to add to the carnage later.Of course, I really don't care if they get ripped to shreds. In fact, I know they are going to die.The amount of gore has the similar effect as Tarantino's "Natural Born Killers."It's desensitizing and becomes almost funny instead of scary.More brains, blood and well, blood. The character development is cardboard.Insert:Bruce Willis from Die hard (one-liners included), David Arquette from Eight-Legged Freaks, John Goodman, any stereotypical dumb hick cop (I choose the Dukes of Hazard cast) and Mr. Burns from The Simpsons and you have the players in Draculas. In between the flying blood and guts there is a weak attempt at plot.Regret, attraction, love and redemption? Not really.Emotionally, I could have cared less because the 'thinking' was scribed, predictable and stereotypical.

I realize these writers have a cult following who enjoy the stories.Their style just didn't appeal to me.If you like slaughter house horror flicks, then you'll be a fan.Comic relief is strung between the body parts and one-liner references are abundant. It even comes with a scary clown.Yes, I think Hollywood would buy this in a minute.

3-0 out of 5 stars Too much of a good thing
The authors are to be commended for their motivations in writing this novel. They want to remind readers that vampires weren't always pretty, brooding young adults with torn allegiances and guilty consciences. They want to return readers to the time when vampires were something to be feared, horrors that stalk the night. They created, in their words, the "anti-Twilight."In this they succeeded.

However, I think they took their task a little too seriously, to the point of ridiculous. The book is a B-horror bloodfest, with gore dripping from every page in a blatant bid to shock and awe the reader. There was so much of it that it became tedious. The authors try to mix it up by tossing in something to scare everyone, but even this was overdone.Without giving away too much, I'll just say that if you can imagine a cliche or popular terror-inducing meme, it's probably in this book.I can almost imagine the four of them trying to outdo one another in horrible brinkmanship.

There are things to like here, so I can't pan it completely. The offered theory of where these "draculas" came from (and Vlad the Impaler's involvement therein) is excellent.Just about all of the men in the book are either evil or socially inept goofballs, but at least the women are strong and enabled. One in particular deserved more development than she was given.Even the ending wasn't entirely bad, if the authors see it through and deliver on the promise they made.

In summary, I cannot definitively say "read" or "don't read."If you're looking for a story that grips you with unseen horrors and cerebral terror, don't bother. If you want Hollywood-style buckets o' blood and gory derring-do, this is for you.The plot is thin but the bodies are thick."Twilight" this isn't, and for that alone it may be worth the ride.

4-0 out of 5 stars Draculas
I really enjoyed this book.It is a good page turner, because you always want to know what happens next. And it'll definitely hold your attention because the never really stops.I didn't really find it all that scary, though. But there was a lot of blood and gore. I don't usually good for that kind of stuff, but it was done well and the story was good.
I wonder if these authors will ever get together for another book.

2-0 out of 5 stars so so...
I have loved several of this authors books, but was disappointed in Draculas.Yeah, it was gory and had lots of violence... but the story line was severely lacking... I love gory stories... but you need the gore for a reason... not just for the sake of gore... ... Read more
