5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful portraits! A Joan-lover's dream come true!
This book, which came out in 1987 at the height of Joan Collins' Dynasty fame, collects photos of her taken over 14-year span from 1972 to 1986 by her preferred personal photographer, Eddie Sanderson. This softcover book was published in England and is a large-format book the size of a magazine, but thicker.

In it we have many wonderful photos of Joan, including candid moments with her family, pictures taken inside the various houses she has owned, and of course many splendid close-ups of the luscious lady herself. Some of the photos are in full colour, while others are in black and white. We have everything from Joan in costume as Cleopatra on her appearance on Fantasy Island, to tasteful gowns, to her fabulous Dynasty wardrobe, to eye-popping bikini shots (*pant, pant*).And she has even been brave enough to include one photo of herself in extreme close-up with no make-up at all in which she looks quite different. Not many actresses would dare that!

There is also an extensive message from Joan describing her participation in the various photo shoots, and another section in which the photographer goes into the details of what he was trying to achieve in certain shots.

This book is a real treasure for Joan Collins fans, and will be a great photographic supplement to her memoirs.

I am happy to highly recommend it to all Joan Collins fans. ... Read more

Product Description
Joan Collins' dazzling first novel is a juicy tale of sex and revenge. Actress and singer Chloe Carriere has been up and down the celebrity ladder for more than 25 years but when a prime opportunity for superstardom arises she finds herself taking part in the most breathtaking battle since the search for Scarlett O'Hara. Offscreen, a more personal conflict takes place as Chloe wonders whether her partner will ever stop playing away from home. Bitter rivalry, infidelity and a smouldering casting couch are the compelling ingredients of this sizzling tale. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars "AM I CRAZY, OR DOES THIS BOOK HAVE DIFFERENT VERSIONS!"
I HAVE AT LEAST 3 COPIES OF THIS BOOK. THE FIRST TIME I BOUGHT IT, IT WAS A PAPERBACK COPY. THE SECOND TIME I PURCHASED IT, I BELIEVE IT WAS ON A CLEARANCE TABLE IN A BOOKSTORE. THEN RECENTLY I BOUGHT IT AGAIN, FOR $.50 AT THE LOCAL LIBRARY WHERE I LIVE. I READ THIS BOOK YEARS AGO. BUT I REMEMBER THE PAPERBACK BEING A BIT HARD TO READ. BUT THEN I HAD NO TROUBLE WITH THE SECOND COPY. I FOUND IT TO BE A VERY PLEASANT READ. BUT THEN FOR SOME REASON THE THIRD COPY I OWN IS EVEN BETTER. AM I READING DIFFERENT VERSIONS OR AM I JUST ENJOYING THE BOOK NOW? I REMEMBER WHEN THIS BOOK FIRST HIT THE SHELVES. DYNASTY WAS OVER AND I WAS LEFT WITH: WHAT AM I GOING TO REPLACE IT WITH! BY THE END OF THE "1990'S" JOAN HAD ONLY WRITTEN ABOUT 3 NOVELS. EVERYTHING ELSE WAS EITHER PERTAINING TO "BEAUTY" OR AN UPDATE ON HER FIRST AUTOBIOGRAPHY. EVENTHOUGH I WANTED MORE MATERIAL WRITTEN BY JOAN COLLINS, I WOUND UP READING "JACKIE'S" BOOKS BECAUSE I HAD READ EVERYTHING AVAILABLE BY JOAN. "PRIME TIME" IS EVEN BETTER NOW. I AM REDISCOVERYING IT ALL OVER AGAIN. THIS BOOK IS EVEN BETTER THAN I REMEMBER. I MAY JUST DIG UP THE REST OF HER NOVELS AND READ THOSE OVER TOO. BUY THIS BOOK IF YOU HAVEN'T. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic
I've read this novel about 3 times already, once you start, you can't wait till it's over. Joan is a genious. Excellent novel.

5-0 out of 5 stars PURE ESCAPISM
Joan Collins can put novelist to her resume now with this page-turner of the rich and rotten. Her brochette of characters are a likable bunch, as they suffer and suffer during the making of a nightime soap opera. And bubbles sure do float in this glossy, effective novel.Collins's prose is sharp, witty and wicked, with a fast-moving plot and glamorous descriptions of clothing, sexual escapades, champagne and caviar parties--all the right ingredients for making PRIME TIME a one sitting read. Yes, glitter is her game, but can you really expect anything else from the queen of television's melodrama herself ?-----Martin Boucher

5-0 out of 5 stars Not my usual type of novel, but I enjoyed it non the less...
When I read the back of this book I wasn't sure I even wanted to read it.I wasn't to thrilled with the idea of reading about five actresses who were fighting over the same job, but it was the only book I could get my hands on at the time.My desire to read won.

I can even begin to tell you how glad I am I read this novel. It had my interest from the beginning.I was amazed at how well developed all of the characters were as well as how different.I found myself choosing sides with the different actresses and rooting for a winner.I would have missed out on a great book had I decided not to pick this one up after all.

5-0 out of 5 stars Glitzy & fun.
Corruption, Lust, Sex, Betrayal . . . This book has it all.
The story of five acresses & their struggle for one star part. Joan Collins' novel is a glimpse at the lives of ambitious young women and their hunger for success.
Set against a background of great wealth, luxurious homes, yachts etc.
An enjoyable book. A non-stop page-turner. ... Read more

Product Description
In this utterly compelling novel, two sisters born into privilege find themselves forced to make wrenching life decisions as they struggle with a troubled family legacy and the immense weight of wealth, fame, ambition, and betrayal.Misfortune's Daughters chronicles the gripping, multigenerational saga of the wealthy Stephanopolis family. Beginning in the Golden Era of Hollywood, the beautiful and talented actress Laura Marlowe meets the young, dashing, and rich shipping magnate Nicholas Stephanopolis. After a whirlwind courtship, the two marry and move to the private Stephanopolis Island in the south of Greece. Yet heartache and tragedy soon find them and extend into the lives of their two very different but willful and ambitious daughters, Venetia and Atlanta. One is a beautiful and favored daughter who's bent on self-destruction; the other is a wallflower who buries herself in books and shies away from her privileged world. But both must confront the legacy and tragedy of the lives of their parents.Sweeping across almost 60 years and jetting from New York to Paris, Los Angeles, and Greece, Misfortune's Daughters is an irresistible, page-turning tale that reveals the glittering life of show business and the grittiness of the journalistic profession. Drawing on her own knowledge and experience, Collins takes the reader deep inside the exclusive gates of wealth and luxury, exposing dark secrets and forbidden desires as two young women vie to break free from their family's shadow and become independent women in their own right. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars I couldn't put it down!
I was very pleasantly surprised!A great story of two sisters who are very different. It's fun to get engrossed in the "good life" - wealth, travel, fame...Try it.If you like Jackie and Joan's books, you'll love this one!

4-0 out of 5 stars Glitz & Glitter
Joan Collins has taken a great deal of flack over her novels, but for me, her books always deliver the expected punch: glitz, glitter, glamour and gossip, things one would expect from a glamorous international superstar such as Joan. Misfortune's Daughters doesn't explore any new territory from her other bestselling titles Prime Time, Love & Desire & Hate, Infamous and Star Quality, as the novel chronicles the incredible lives of two vastly different sisters born into amazing privilege but who both suffer the hard knocks of the fabulously wealthy. You won't lose any sleep discovering what happens to siblings Atlanta and Venetia as they cross the globe searching for love and acceptance, but you certainly will have an entertaining time reading about their misadventures in a glamourous world that exists only between the pages of one of Joan's novels.

3-0 out of 5 stars She never said she was Shakespeare!
Joan did a fairly good job with this book but I kept finding myself wishing for better continuity. It was hard to keep my attention and the story wasn't nearly as good as say "Star Quality".Maybe one of these days she'll release the two books she was sued over because any fan of "Dynasty" could tell you that "Hell Hath No Fury" like Joan Collins scorned!

5-0 out of 5 stars A great read
I just finished reading this book. I loved it the character outlines were great and Joan Collins writing was incredible. I can't see anyone not enjoying this book. Well worth reading this summer!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Beach or Airport Novel!!
This is hands down the best novel by Joan Collins to date. The sisters, Venetia and Atlanta, have anything and everything they could ever want in the material world.

But they lack the love of their father who emotionally abandons them at an early age leading one sister to accidently star in a scandalous film while another becomes a drug addict.

Coupled with an interesting sub-plot concerning an immigrant fashion designer thirsty for revenge and an Italian movie diva who hungers for pleasure, from anyone, "Misfortune's Daughters" is a delightfully fast paced novel that I couldn't put down!

Obviously, Joan is taking snipets of her own life and career, along with facets from other celebrities to craft her characters and storyline. But she succeeds very well, quite simply this is the best Jackie Collins novel that Jackie Collins didn't write!

Joan is at the top of her game, weaving decadent settings with delicious characters to craft a story that is neither groundbreaking or wildly original. Rather, it is an enthusiastic, fast paced novel that can be described in one word: FUN! ... Read more

Product Description
It is 1987 and Katherine Bennet is at the height of her beauty, power and fame as star of the TV series, The Skeffingtons. But her private life is in tatters. Newly divorced, with a son who is threatening to go off the rails, Katherine promises herself and her public that she will never marry again. Katherine's lifestyle is opulent - complete with maids, butler, cook and chauffer - but it is also lonely. Great fame and beauty have isolated her. And there is also plenty of envy and back-biting from her fellow stars who seek her out for the wrong reasons. such isolation makes a woman vulnerable - especially to the wrong man. This novel is a gripping and utterly realistic portrait of what it is like to be a woman with everything the world can offer - except the one thing she wants above all; someone who truly loves the real Katherine Bennet and and not the ...
