1-0 out of 5 stars Bad with a capital.... Awful
This is probably the worst book I have ever read. The dialog between the characters was juvenile. The characters never used contractions (sounded more like a term paper than fiction). They always called each other by their first names, which in normal conversations people don't do (Yes Kendra, I will come to your house....Yes Walt, I will have dinner with you....just very unnatural). I'm surprised that this book was ever published....it was that bad. I only finished it because I paid for it.Please don't waste your money on this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Reading for the California Desert Dweller and Visitor
For readers lucky enough to live in the Coachella Valley this entertaining mystery captures the essence of desert living. The careful descriptions of the various valley neighborhoods, as well as its striking beauty, will resound as the pages turn. In addition, the central character is easy to identify with and the danger in her situation is even easier to relate to. For those who have never visited Palm Springs and its environs, this engrossing tale will cause one to plan their next vacation in the famous Californian desert. Perfect vacation reading! ... Product Description
Making Culture Visible offers a fresh focus on the history of nineteenth century photography. The narrative moves from a close-up look at several selected events between 1847 and 1900, from six industrial fairs to the looming presence of the Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition in the mid-1870s. The last two chapters deal with the exhibition work of the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum in the 1880s, and finally the collecting and displays of public libraries in the 1890s. This book revitalizes the roots of photography's own cultural history by reconnecting it to a living social process, played against the stage of cultural exhibition. ... Read more
