Extractions: On February 10, 2001 I had the pleasure of going to see the band Average Jo perform at the Troubador on Santa Monica Blvd. Now, why was this so great one may ask? And who the heck is this band? The group is formed by three young guys, one of which just happens to be Shane West. Shane West Those of you who do not know who he is, well, you are missing out. Shane is on the tv show Once and Again and starred in the movie Whatever It Takes. Mary, Julia and I arrived at the Troubador around 9:30pm to find out that Average Jo did not perform until midnight. Yet we arrived at the perfect time. As we turned away from the ticket window, who should be right behind us but Shane himself! He had just walked up the street and was waiting to go into the venue. Mary actually turned around and was speechless, because she thought that he was me, boy was she surprised. We headed inside and milled around as the other bands played. This would have been quite dull but we had Shane to keep an eye on. The Troubador is a small place so Shane spent lots of time on the main floor, walking through the crowd (brushing past us several times) and sitting at the bar. When it neared time for Average Jo to take the stage, the crowed filled up as "young hollywood" showed up for the event. Devon Gummersall (Brian from My So-Called Life) was up in the balcony with Shiri Appleby (Liz from Roswell).
