I won't say the guys doesn't know ANYTHING, in fact he may be a ver proficient martial artist for all I know. One thing I AM fairly sure of is that he has never studied any form of combat tested ninjutsu. Basically, Ashida Kim hopped on the big ninja band-wagon back in the late 70's/early 80's with no credentials or lineage or anything other than a claim of being a ninja master. He made money off of it, and has a little cult that hangs off of his every word. I've corresponded with him a number of times and he's a total, grade-A asshole. He's nothing to offer expcept EXTREME paranoia and negativity. At least in my experience.

Convinced he was talking to me, Mr. Kim let me have it in no uncertain terms. I tried to explain to him why I felt as I did about his booklet. His name wasn't even on the book as its author, he complained. I pointed out that his signature is on the Black Belt Equivalency certificate that comes wrapped around the booklet. It was unfair for me to keep calling the book a booklet, he complained. I pointed out that to call it a booklet is to be exactly accurate. Despite the dearth of bookbinders in Florida, I explained, the fact is that when one orders a book and one receives a stack of photocopies that have been folded down the middle and stapled on the crease, one is in possession of a booklet. The reference to booklet is further justified, I elaborated, because Mugei Mumei no Jitsu is not very long. Something of this length packaged in this manner is much more properly referred to as a booklet or pamphlet, I said, though I did admit that "booklet" is more accurate (because "pamphlet" brings to mind something even more brief).

This is really a book let , a pamphlet a pile of folded paper stapled through the middle. The outermost sheet is a color photocopy that doubles as both the cover and a Black Belt 1st Degree Equivalency certificate in Mugei Mumei no Jitsu, a term that means according to Kim "no name, no art." The book also comes with a free Black Dragon Fighting Society membership card. Having read and understood the book, and if I understand correctly Mr. Kim's intent, I am now both a Black Belt and a member of the aforementioned Black Dragon Fighting Society. Cool. There is also a mandamus at the front of the book. (That's a real word I checked.) The mandamus, written in flowery speech evocative of Old World curses, contains a nice little blank line for you to write your name and declare as your property this pile of stapled paper. All manner of horrific consequences will be visited on anyone who steals the book or perverts its teaching, warns the mandamus. These include, but are not limited to, the aforementioned wrath-incurrence, visits by astral spies (whatever those may be), avengings performed by occult guards, the cessation of all peace and prosperity known to or hoped for by the miscreant in question, and the ill will of a variety of people, including Lamas from more than one country.
