    Extractions: Frodo (Wood), il portatore dell'Unico Anello, assieme al fedele amico Sam (Astin) sono diretti al Monte Fato, nella Terra di Mordor dove risiede il Male più oscuro ma anche unico luogo dove il temibile Anello possa essere distrutto. Durante il loro cammino s'imbattono nella creatura Smeagol, il vecchio possessore dell'anello che, sopraffatto dall'alter-ego Gollum, tenta di riprendersi il proprio "tesssoro", aspettando il momento giusto mentre fa loro da guida. Spider Man ") qui diventa un esempio di comportamento psicotico degno di uno dei migliori film sullo sdoppiamento della personalità. E quello che altrove è solo sfoggio tecnologico (il personaggio di Jar Jar di " Star Wars 1 ") qui diventa pura volontà di plasmare la tecnica al volere della narrazione. La regia rispetto al primo episodio migliora, divenendo più matura e robusta, anche se Jackson non si lascia certo scappare l'opportunità di giocare con la macchina da presa come solo lui sa fare. Le scene migliori sono sicuramente quelle in cui Gollum è protagonista e quelle dello scontro finale, dove la macchina da presa vola letteralmente sopra le mura del Fosso di Helm mostrandoci l'immensa battaglia che richiama alla memoria quella di "Braveherat" e di " Giovanna d'Arco ". Il regista riesce inoltre a ricreare un'atmosfera epica che tocca il culmine massimo quando gli orchi riescono ad entrare nella fortezza di Re Tehoden. Una scena da antologia su tutte è quella di Gandalf che "esorcizza" dal male il Re, di cui Saruman si era impossessato, e che prelude ad un incontro diretto fra i due stregoni che vedremo sicuramente nel terzo capitolo.

Tolkien's fantastic story "The Lord of the Rings" and the three films made from it. To me the book and the films are so much more that just a book and three films; they are a phenonmenon. Tolkien's work is much more than the stories; it is about a world complete with its inhabitants, languages, mythology, and mysteries. The story is excellent with many facets and a striking depth. Therefore I felt that I wanted to put into words my feelings and relation to "The Lord of the Rings," and also how I went from "normal" to a huge fan. My reverence for Tolkien's work has sky-rocketed through the roof since I first learned of it, and I hope to convey this change to those who read this text. Furthermore, it is as a place where I can write down events related to "The Lord of the Rings" that could be interesting for me to read in the future; in other words, a kind of a diary. The events in this document are presented in chronological order, beginning with my first contact with Tolkien's work. Since I began to write this document in December of 2002 some of the earlier events are not described in much detail due to my not remembering everything about them.
