Extractions: from Concord, California Hi, My name is Kathy Burke, and I teach at a small neccesary High School in Concord, California. I ran into your page of monarch butterflies, and I thought I give you some ideas. My students and I, with the help of the Lindsay Wildlife Museum, have put together a Monarch butterfly habitat in our neighborhood park. I think it is important for people to understand that it is fun to raise butterflies, but we need to create the habitat for them to live, and food for them to eat on their journey. If you are interested about information on how to build a butterfly habitat, and how to get kids and teenagers involved in the activity, e-mail us at nvhs4@ricochet.com

Extractions: Photogallery Filmography Links Born in Islington, London, England Those who only know Kathy Burke as awkward teenager Perry or as first class yobette Waynetta Slob are in for a surprise. She is not only one of Britain's most talented comediennes, but also one of its most versatile actresses. She was outstanding as the battered but unbroken housewife in Gary Oldman's harrowing working class drama Nil by Mouth - for which she won best actress in Cannes in 1997 - a film so fantastically real it makes your skin creep. She was also great in the supporting role of the mad Queen Mary (Bloody Mary) in Elizabeth. And she managed to more than hold her ground next to Meryl Streep in Dancing at Lughasa Just recently we've seen her in the Brit comedy This Year's Love , as "the fat bird", where she ended up with a tattoo of Celtic on her bum and even managed to charm womanizer Dougray Scott into her bed. And then of course there's the famous story where she told Helena Bonham Carter to "shut up you stupid c**t" on account of her remarks on the class differences in the acting industry. What makes her different from other actresses is her total lack of pretension mixed with the ability not to take herself too seriously. Why else would she choose to look stupid playing a teenage boy? Or in the words of our friend Ricky "Kathy Burke is God".

Extractions: Availability: Nick Hern books, 1989, first printing (printed before premiere: text may have changed slightly in performance) M obil-award-winning play by Michael Wall, set in a Malay prison where two young men; rough, 20-year-old, thick Londoner Bryan, and laconic, international Ralph (Vibert), await the death penalty following a Guilty verdict of drug trafficking. The play essentially has two fields of action; the frustrations, fears, and acceptances of the prisoners' fate; and the examination of the closed attitudes of Bryan's ultra-working-class family and Ralph's Marbella-trash, mob-lite, glitterati, Mrs Robinson-esque mother. By contrasting the narrow, prejudicial and uncomprehending 'civilised' British with the educated, amiable, polite 'Barbarians' (the only other characters are an integrated Sikh guard and female Tamil lawyer), Wall highlights the shortcomings of our supposed 'refined' society, and questions who the real barbarians of the situation are. The Mobil Playwriting Award is one of the most esteemed theatrical merits, and Wall's play shares many similar themes with
