Extractions: Team JJ's 2001 European Adventure July 21, Central Coast Loop Although Sunday started by being a little overcast, it was actually perfect for a coastal ride. Eight teams rode the scenic loop which started in Mission Bay, headed north through Rose Canyon and proceeded onto the freeway to Sorrento Valley and then (almost) Del Mar. Turning southward at this point, we took a short break at Torrey Pines State Beach before climbing Torrey Pines hill. Lyndsey and Dennis provided a particularly good route substitution, at one point, allowing us to eliminate the steep downhill on La Jolla Shores Dr., riding instead through some of the equally beautiful neighborhoods of La Jolla. We stopped for lunch at the Cove, then meandered through La Jolla, Pacific Beach, the southern end of Mission Bay and back to De Anza Cove. It was 36 miles of beautiful weather and lots of smiles.
