Extractions: Bold, brash and eager to please, Porn Star Sophie Evans is one of the best-known European imports of recent years. Sophie Evans' a blonde beauty with long legs and some of the prettiest, deepest brown eyes we've seen in some time. Sophie's backside has been described as pure perfection, and anyone who's seen it in action would be hard-pressed to disagree. Simply put, Sophie Evans' got one of the nicest all-natural figures in the business and she sure knows what to do with it, too. Sophie Evans was born and raised in Hungary, and came to Southern California at the age of 23 to pursue porn stardom. She made her debut in 1999, starring in a string of pro-am flicks with her real-life husband Tony Ribas. Among the best of these is 'Up N Cummers #72,' where Sophie and Tony go for broke in a blistering back door boff. Their passion for one another comes through loud and clear especially loud. From there, Sophie Evans moved into mainstream porn with wild abandon. She sometimes works with Ribas, but both of them also work with other stars as well. Sophie's best scene with Ribas can be found in 'North Pole #11,' where they light up the video's finale with a scorching session. There's no faking enthusiasm and heat like this.
IHT: 'Sophie's Choice' At Royal Opera LONDON The much anticipated premiere of Nicholas Maw's sophie's Choice, based onthe music providing commentary, not of claiming a subject in a bold new way. http://www.iht.com/articles/79950.htm
Extractions: Thursday, December 12, 2002 LONDON The much anticipated premiere of Nicholas Maw's "Sophie's Choice," based on the novel by William Styron, at the Royal Opera House at Covent Garden turned out to be a powerful production by Trevor Nunn. Maw's opera is an utterly admirable, affectingly conceived and beautifully realized work. From the opening moments of the score, as the strings played subdued, luminous, tenderly tonal sustained chords, like some angelic, bittersweet chorale, Maw's reverence for this material was palpable. If anything, he has been almost too reverential, too respectful. Even in the score's most fraught and lashing moments, where jolts of Maw's early days as an exponent of serialism come through, there is a sense of reserve, of music providing commentary, not of claiming a subject in a bold new way. Maw has long been a distinguished musical voice, but not a highly original one. For all its modernist touches, his language is nostalgic, lushly harmonic, romantic in its sensibility. In his richly chromatic, acutely rendered harmonic vocabulary, you hear echoes of Mahler, Strauss, the Debussy of "Pelleas et Melisande," the Berg of "Wozzeck," the neoclassical Hindemith. The score breaks no new ground.

Then I re-read the book asking questions about the appropriatness of Sophie's behaviors. Then I help my students brainstorm other effective ways of dealing with the problems. The students then choose the way they would behave. The students fill in a story structure for the book, changing the outcome of the book, creating their own book and then they illustrate it. TeacherView by Jo Hubbard The illustrations in this book evoke emotion. This is a good story to use for discussion with students who need to develop social abilities and appropriate affective skills. It is the story of a girl named Sophie who has difficulty socially and responds with a tantrum and running away. The Activities

Extractions: I can understand why people are buying tickets, because it pins a lot on the significance of the subject. It is a basic fallacy that great opera needs to be about great subjects. I do not think La Boheme would be greatly improved if it were more explicitly about the need to increase student grants. There are only two things wrong with the opera; one is the words and the other is the music, which does not leave a great deal. The libretto is awful, chaotic, a great mess, rambling on when it needs to be so concise. With the music, has a great problem in coming up with any striking musical imagery or any memorable musical event. After four hours of music the only two things I could remember were the side drum for the train going to Auschwitz and the string cords at the beginning which were by Vaughan Williams anyway. Extractions: "Elle et Lui," by Genevieve Cadieux, 1997, diptych, chromogenic print. There is something wonderful about a small museum. Mega-museums like New York's Metropolitan amaze with their everything-under-the-sun collections. But smaller museums have a charm all their own, offering intimacy, sparser crowds and often off-the-beaten track locations. And when the small museum is as creative and forward-thinking as its mightier counterparts, the experience is even more satisfying. Such is the case with the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art. Housed in a 19th-century building in suburban Ridgefield, Conn., the museum exhibits work by the likes of Claes Oldenberg, Rene Cox and Roxy Paine, fulfilling the vision of founder Larry Aldrich, who died last year. Born Lawrence Orlevich in 1906 in New York, the son of Russian-Jewish immigrants, Aldrich was the owner of a successful clothing company, a savvy and passionate collector and an important supporter of the Museum of Modern Art. He founded the Aldrich in 1963, at the suggestion of Alfred Barr, then director of the MoMa, to serve as a showcase for emerging artists. Over the years, the Aldrich has built a reputation on such sophisticated, fresh shows as ''Pop Surrealism'' and ''Art at the Edge of the Law.''
Review | Read My Lips By Sophie Ellis Bextor In brief, sophie Ellis Bextor's Read My Lips is stylish pop that has a My Lips a comparisonto the timeless Parallel Lines is an overly bold statement, because http://www.bluecoupe.com/pop/ellis-bextor.html
Extractions: Read My Lips Sophie Ellis Bextor Universal/Polydor 2001 Buy it online Reviewed by Andrew Arora Sophie Ellis Bextor first erupted onto the UK pop scene in the fall of 2000 by handling the vocals for Spiller's "Groovejet (If This Ain't Love)." The publicity created by "GrooveJet" was enough to have British fans drooling over the singer that critics declared "the next female pop star" and inauspiciously over-hyping her first album. Ellis Bextor's debut album, Read My Lips is not breathtaking, but it's passable for a first effort. There are enough moments between the album's indubitable fillers to show that Ellis Bextor can be a pop diva. The album takes sassy vocals and blends them into a medley of songs that will have you probing old Blondie albums for the same tunes. Read My Lips is sophisticated dance-pop that meshes synthesized rhythms and 80s soul, but it's the album's funky disco that allows Ellis Bextor to outclass her pop counterparts. The album opens with "Take Me Home," which quickly throws you into a mesmerizing trance that will have you falling in love with the disco groove and alluring lyrics. This song about being picked up at a nightclub, originally a Cher hit in 1979, has a sleek melody that brings out the finest in Ellis Bextor's shimmering yet mischievous voice. And after viewing a picture of this chic soloist, most men would endorse her plea to be escorted back to her abode.

Extractions: Trademarks are ubiquitous, and in themselves represent enterprise and economic competition. In this respect, they contain a wealth of imaginative and graphic information. A trademark is defined either by a name, a shape, a figurative drawing or letter design, or by a certain combination of colours. The "Alsacienne brand", embodied in the little "Sophie", contains all the above factors, which it has maintained from 1904 to the present day. In 1904, when the CHAUVEAU concern entered their specialities- gauffre d'Alsace, cake Grillé - at the International Cooking Fair, they were not presented a real brand name, but simply identified by a woman's bust in traditional Alsatian costume. The message is complex, bearing reference to the period's historical context, deeply marked by the fact that Germany had just annexed Alsace. Thus, the symbol relies simply on the character , an Alsace woman, and the fashionable red-grey colours of the time. Between 1907, when Paul THEVES joined G. CHAUVEAU, and 1920, the words "Biscuiterie Alsacienne" were added to the inset of the girl's head. Alsatian imagery is conveyed in its variations and detail: French Alsace is endorsed by the tri-coloured rosette, even on the "Stork" medallion. The Alsatian girl's head, slightly tilted to the side as if eating, is maintained during this period.
