Gilliam secured Washington Post professionals to lead sessions, and Carol Lange, coordinator of the seminars, recruited experienced high school journalism educators from Virginia and Maryland to form teaching teams. "Far too often, school publications advisers are left to fend for themselves with little direction, little guidance and, frequently, little experience. The Newspaper Advisers Seminars offered some much-needed support and encouragement to those teachers," Hall said.
