Product Description

Saunders Veterinary Anatomy Coloring Book includes approximately 300 illustrations to study and color. The coloring book helps you memorize the anatomy content you need to know in both veterinary medicine and veterinary technology and gives you a fun way to review the information you have studied. All illustrations in the book are suitable for coloring and are of the highest quality, created by expert medical illustrators.

Organized by body region, the book is divided into sections devoted to the head and neck; neck, back, and vertebral column; thorax; abdomen; pelvis; forlimb; and hindlimb.

Numbered lead lines clearly identify structures to be colored and correspond to a numbered list beneath the illustration so you can easily visualize the veterinary anatomy. Plus, you can create your own "color code" using the numbered boxes provided for each illustration.

  • Comprehensive veterinary anatomy coverage helps you reinforce your understanding of canine, feline, equine, porcine, ruminants, and avian anatomy.

  • High quality illustrations make it easy for you to color in each anatomic region and review anatomic details.

  • Self-study format provides a fun and interactive way to prepare for exams throughout your veterinary courses.

  • Part of Elsevier's complete veterinary anatomy learning system, integrating core anatomy knowledge, engaging review, hands-on practice, and clinical application to give you a solid foundation for success!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
Fast shipment! Ordered it just a few days ago and got it in the mail super fast! Thank you!

5-0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT BOOK!!!!
This book far exceeded my expectations! With over 300 illustrations ranging from equine, feline, canine, etc. it covers a huge variety of systems and muscle groups! Was very, very impressed! My high school (within LAUSD) is creating a zoology class in the next year, and I have recommended this book to them which will be the main source for all the worksheet and labeling assignments!! Very detailed book and the pictures are extremely sharp and accurate! Very, very good product for the price. I can't recommend it enough. Each animal type is categorized by body positions and anatomical views, rendering a complete view of the animal over several different sections in the book.

A typical layout of any page will include:

1) the anatomical view of the animal
2) 22+ different labels of the sanctioned (according to #chapter) parts to color!
3) Description of the system at the top of the page (what you are looking at)
4) Clean, non-waxed or glossy paper, to color on
...and more!!!!

But to any potential buyers, whether you are a vet student, zoologist, animal system aficionado, or simply have a minor interest in animal sciences and anatomy (like me), then I highly recommend this book for you! I would not recommend buying a textbook that runs from $50-$98, until you buy this book. For only a fraction of the cost of veterinary textbooks, it serves as a great introduction to veterinary medicine and anatomy!

*** I would suggest buying a 2" binder, photocopying (at work or a friend's office, the pages of interest to you) and then storing it in the binder and keeping the book in your library for safe-keeping. That way you can have a more professional reference tool and sell the book, "unmarked" and in "like new condition" in the future! Thanks for reading the review!

2-0 out of 5 stars Not nearly as good as the human anatomy coloring book
There are no comments describing the pictures at all. There are also no coloring instructions, and the labels are not always clear. You almost need a regular anatomy book next to you to reference while coloring. While a few of the specific veterinary diagrams are useful, particularly the ones comparing different species, I think overall the human anatomy coloring book is far superior.Since color contrast is helpful, I think you could get A LOT more out of the human anatomy coloring book andthe diagrams from a regular veterinary anatomy book. The diagrams in this book are all taken from either Dyce or Miller so they are good in and of themselves, but for coloring this book isuseless (because of inadequate labeling and instructions), frustrating, and very disappointing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Color and learn.
This is a very useful tool in teaching veterinary anatomy. I had a similar coloring book on human anatomy when teaching Medical School.Students found it very easy to remember what they had colored and the diagrams were excellent.I intend to use the veterinary book for my animal classes.

3-0 out of 5 stars kinda dissapointed with saunders
i purchased this book because it's by saunders, who makes a fabulous veterinary medical dictionary.however, i expected A LOT more from this book.there's almost zero anatomy of the different body systems.this mostly covers bones and muscles, but even this is limited.there are comparative pictures of across different species, but it feels like they tried to cram too much into one book.so even on the information that's here, there isn't much detail.the picture descriptions are also lacking.i gave it 3/5 stars because it is a nice coloring book, but its certainly nothing special. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great pocket pet book
I'm not a pocket pet expert at all, so this is my "go to" book when I get a small critter in.Lots of information, and very easy to navigate.Nice drug charts in the back too.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent veterinary reference
I have the previous edition of "the pink book", and knowledge has advanced in these species such that I desperately needed the new edition. An excellent text that is a must have if you see small mammal patients.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Helpful Book
I got this book so I can better understand what the heck the vet was telling me about two of my ferrets. It is a reall good resouce for pet owners to learn more about the different medical conditions that will come up with owning a ferret. However, be warned!....This book explains thing in terminology that a vet or a vet tech will understand. It is not a book for the average person per se, but it did help me ask the right questions and to be better informed. One vet I talked to uses this book as a reference quite often.I enjoyed going through this book and it was very educational.

This book is marketed at the boards- Im a veterinary student in Ireland. 4-0 out of 5 stars Saunder's Vet Dictionary 3rd Ed.
Great definitions: very complete, concise, and understandable. Clear diagrams and photos illustrated some definitions. Every word I have looked up has been included. Very helpful tables in the appendix section listing all the muscles, nerves, vessels and more (complete with origin and insertion of each muscle).

The only frustration I had with this dictionary is that it is HUGE! Other reviews claimed it was handy and portable, but I have to leave it at home since there is no way it will fit in my backpack with my other textbooks and laptop. Dimensions: 9 x 7.5 x 3 inches, about 3-4 lbs.

Overall, great dictionary, quite large. I've used it almost every day since I got it and would highly recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Saunders Comprehensive Veterinary Dictionary

5-0 out of 5 stars VERY comprehensive...MUCH better than the bailliers
LOVE this dictionary..am studying for the VTNE and I have used this one over and over without fail...other dictionary I had..was always short of information..I have yet to be disappointed with this one. Has great pics too! Would buy again and highly recommend.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very handy
We purchased this Veterinary Dictionary for the office staff. Everyone who has used it has found it very useful and easy to find the information they need.

5-0 out of 5 stars Make sure you get the 3rd edition! (or later)
- I used to have the previous edition of this Dictionary (2nd ed., 1998) and would consult it only sporadically. Now that I purchased the 3rd edition, I usually read at least one definition per day. Call me superficial, but I find this new edition much more appealing!

- What has changed:
*Illustrations! You'll find them about once every 5 pages or so. I think the authors should have featured more illustrations/photographs, but the ones you find in the text are not gratuitous (they really give you a better understanding of the definition).
*On a lighter note, my previous edition was in Portuguese (I am a Brazilian monkey). My present one (3rd ed, 2007) is the original American English version, and I think it reads better. I can only conclude that translating dictionaries is a dangerous task.
*Superior paper quality (glossy-more suitable for viewing illustrations), pages have a prettier design.
*Anatomical charts in the appendix are more organized and looking sharper.
*New definitions (not many, though).

- I kindly disagree with the user who mentioned Stedman's Medical Dictionary as a better option. Sure, Stedman's definitions are more authoritative, but I took two definitions (namely, abscess and anemia) for comparison and don't think one would be at much loss by going with Saunders Vet Dictionary. Plus, there are many important references to veterinary species in this Dictionary (associating common diseases, breed predispositions etc.), and that is something one will not find in Stedman's.

- I like this text better than Black's Student Veterinary Dictionary (Black's Veterinary Dictionary). Black's is not a bad Dictionary, in fact many of its definitions are longer (two paragraphs or more) and really comprehensive. However, it's not nearly as complete as Saunders Vet Dictionary (sometimes I can't find very simple terms in Black's, no mention to the more specific definitions which are lacking). Also, I feel there is a tendency in Black's to emphasize large animal species, sometimes not acknowledging the very existence of small animals/zoo species/exotics/myself. The horse illustration on the cover reflects this bias very well. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A must for clinical features!
Thanks to J.Rand for such a practical clinical book. For the real practicioner, before the use and choice of complementary tests. A clear presentation for differential diagnosis. A most excellent book (without equivalent in this categorie as far as I know) in order to be an excellent general feline practicioner. To master the clinical basis. I dream for other titles of the same concept and the same quality (I know, it's a dream!...): Problem-based Canine Medicine, Problem-based Ferret Medicine... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!
This an excellent book to have for a veterinary virology class.I have never learned so much about different viruses!

5-0 out of 5 stars didactic
very didatic and easy to understand, that explains all about the vet virology in a very easy way for the college students, contents many examples about real cases and variety on important viral strains into the veterinary medicine and microbiology.

5-0 out of 5 stars Veterinary Virology made easy(er)
This book is highly recomended to those of us who must struggle through veterinary microbiology. It makes the subject decipherable, and does not slip into the jargon that is so often found in science textbooks. The book begins with intrductory "How viruses work" material, before moving onto the various virus groups. Each section of the book starts out with a general introduction on how that group works/attacks, wheteher they need intermediate hosts, lifespan in the outside environment, etc. Then, it delves further into each virus within that family (genus/class?) with sections on pahtology, epidemiology, etc.All in all, a very nice reference book for veterinary students. There is not much info on West Nile, but there is a nice section on Foot and Mouth.Generally, those viruses which are important in the West, plus a few that are important for other reasons arecovered.Other viruses are mentioned. There is also a small section in the back on prion diseases, which may not be important currently, but will be important to know about, even in te USA (Scrapie, Chronic Wasting Disease, just to name a few.)I highly recomend this book. ... Product Description
Far from the line drawings and black-and-white photos of the past, Infectious Diseases and Pathology of Reptiles features high-quality, color photos of normal anatomy and histology, as well as gross, light, and electron microscopic images of pathogens and diseases. Many of these images have never before been published, and come directly from the esteemed editor’s collection documenting more than 30 years in the research of infectious diseases and veterinary care of reptiles.
A comprehensive reference, the book includes definitive information on every aspect of the anatomy, pathophysiology, and differential diagnosis of infectious diseases affecting reptiles. Beginning with a thorough review of the biology, anatomy, and histology of reptiles, the introductory chapters cover all major systems and provide the most complete single source for color images of reptile histology. It addresses the mechanism of reptile immunology and the response to pathogens, and explains how immunological response is key to differential diagnosis. Given the difficulty in isolating certain pathogens for identification, the book provides an overview of electron microscopy, complete with electron micrographs of reptile pathogens, and introduces the necessity of molecular methods for diagnosis. The text outlines serodiagnostics and the development and use of immunological reagents specifically designed for reptiles in tests such as indirect enzyme linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA). Finally, the book devotes several chapters to the viral, bacterial, fungal, and parasitic diseases known to reptiles and methods for isolating these pathogens.
With up-to-the-minute data, a never-before-seen collection of images, and a stellar panel of contributors, Infectious Diseases and Pathology of Reptiles is the definitive resource forveterinarians, biologists, and researchers involved in the study of pathogens infecting reptiles. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book
This is an excellent book- it has even been adopted as the official textbook for the national veterinary board examination for clinical pathology. I had the privilege of working with both Dr. Harvey and Dr. Meyer while at the Clinical Pathology Laboratory of the UF School of Veterinary Medicine as a veterinary technician, and feel they are ultimately qualified to write on this subject. This book has been translated into Chinese as well. Not an easy feat, but I think it shows how much this book is valued here and abroad.

5-0 out of 5 stars An outstanding addition to your library
The third edition of this textbook provides a well-illustrated, up-to-date and comprehensive account of veterinary laboratory medicine in an interesting and user-friendly format. The distinguished authors have succeeded in providing readers with excellent figures, legends, and concise narratives that provide a rich, broad-based resource for understanding and interpreting abnormalities encountered in lab animal medicine. This well-referenced text is recommended for the library's of all serious students, residents, pathologists, and practicing veterinarians.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money on this book.....
This book has never been of any help to me. I bought it a few years after graduating from vet school and it has NEVER had any information I can find when I want to look something up. The case study format makes finding anything useful a nightmare. A terrific alternative book that I've used for years (and I just bought the newest edition) is Small Animal Clinical Diagnosis By Laboratory Methods- Michael D. Willard, Harold, Ph.D. Tvedten. It always has an excellent explanation of any clin path question I have.

1-0 out of 5 stars What a waste of money
This book has proven to be absolutly useless to me.I am a third year vet student, and every time i picked up this book to look something up, the information i needed was nowhere to be found in the book.it is the biggest waste of 65 dollars i ever spent in my life.i DO NOT reccomend this book.all the information this book has is nothing that you cant find in any of your general physiology/pathology/histology books.dont waste your money.for more specific clin path information, find another book.i hear Maryanne Thrall is coming out with one in a few months, so if you can wait for hers, she is the queen of clin path.

5-0 out of 5 stars Veterinary Laboratory Medicine Interpretation & Diagnosis
