Extractions: BARRY DEAN FULTON SPECIAL NEEDS FUND The purpose of the Barry Dean Fulton Special Needs Fund is to provide support for individuals with cerebral palsy and closely related disabilities through the provision of financial assistance for the purchase or repair of adaptive equipment as deemed appropriate by the volunteer committee which oversees its distribution. Some examples of adaptive equipment for which these funds are intended include: wheelchairs, lifts, ramps, communication aides, therapy aides, auto hand controls, special shoes, braces and walkers. FAMILY SUPPORT AND ADVOCACY SERVICES United Cerebral Palsy of Middle Tennessee serves as the doorway through which many families learn about community services for individuals with disabilities. Our goal is to begin providing support to parents as soon as possible after their children are first diagnosed with a disability. Since most all of UCP programs and services are non-disability specific, we serve families dealing with a variety of disabilities. Our ultimate goal is to assist people in advocating for themselves. UCP offers a supportive setting for parents to share common feelings, community resource information, and parenting strategies as they pertain to daily experiences with children with disabilities. We also offer resource information and support services to adults with disabilities in the Middle Tennessee community.
