5-0 out of 5 stars I highly recommend this book for stepfamilies
When I first married, I had an instant family with two young stepchildren who came to live with us.Not only did I have to cope with beinga new wife, but I had to jump in as a stepmother to two children who were tryingto understand and deal with the divorce of their parents. The StepkinStories address those tough issues in a format that is easy for children toaccept. All kids love having stories read to them. The guides coach theadults along the way.I recommend this as a tool for any stepfamily withyoung kids.

5-0 out of 5 stars You will be glad you shared this book with a child.
As an elementary teacher I see the fright, hurt, and tears of children lost in the many feelings of divorce.Parents, counselors, and caring adults now have a book that can truly help young children know they are notalone, that divorce is not their fault, and there are positive ways tohandle the enormous changes going on in their young lives.

The StepkinStories are a helpful way to find answers to the many feelings andquestions our little ones have in the common, but emotional, thing called"divorce".

You will be glad you shared this book with a child.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of a kind guide to help small children of divorce cope
Peggy Lumpkin has found a way for adults(parents, grandparents, teachers, counselors, concerned friends) to interact with children who are going thru a divorce with their parents. The Stepkin Stories are to be read to thechild by the adult and then discuss the feelings of the childbroughtforth by the stories.By talking about the feelings the child has, he/shelearns that he/she is not alone with those feelings and that there aresolutions to the problems.

The art work, done by the author, is charmingand should brighten up the child.

This book is a must for all concernedadults who have contact with children trying to cope with the divorce oftheir parents. ... Read more

Product Description
Stepfamilies are those families with children that are often created by the marriage or union of an immediate parent to another non-biological parent or person. Stepfamilies are rarely portrayed in the media. Stepchildren seldom see media representations of stepchildren coping with family issues: therefore these child viewers have few role models similar to themselves in which to learn from.Research has established that children often imitate and can relate to media characters similar to themselves. In addition, similar characters are often recalled by child viewers. Since few stepfamilies are represented in the media, this often leaves stepchildren at a disadvantage. The Stepducks mission is to Encourage all people to recognize that there may be no separation of family and education. Through Stepducks we promote the importance of family inclusion in all levels of education in a very entertaining way. "You'll swear you know these kids." Through entertainment, the Stepducks offers a fresh and public view of the often underrepresented types of families--stepfamilies.Sit back and enjoy the Stepducks. They promise to Make you laugh, Make you think and Make you care.Visit the Stepducks online at www.stepducks.net ... Read more
