5-0 out of 5 stars Great introduction to Rosh Hashanah
I bought this book for a class of Kindergarteners to teach them about Rosh Hashanah, and it was really fantastic. Most of the children were not Jewish and it covered all of the basics of the holiday, leading perfectly into more descriptions and activities after we'd finished. The repetition and basic concepts in the Sammy Spider books are fantastic for children following along--by the middle of the book everyone was saying along with the story, "Silly Sammy...spiders spin webs!"

I would recommend this book and the other Sammy Spider stories for preschoolers and Kindergarteners of all backgrounds. They're really fantastic.

Just a note: the book uses simple vocabulary (challah, etc), so you may want to make sure you know how to pronounce some words that are used if you are not familiar with them.

You've heard of being a little mouse in the room or a fly on the wall? Well, Sammy is a spider on the ceiling! This is a good intro to RoshHashanah for small children, who will love the big, colorful illustrations. 5-0 out of 5 stars A very sweet book.
I got this book for my son soon after he turned 2. He absolutely loved it! The book kept him interested and very engaged. I would recommend this book to others as a great Passover 101 book for little ones.

4-0 out of 5 stars Cute
Sammy Spider was fast asleep in his family web up on the Shapiro's ceiling. A warm spring sun shown through the window, and suddenly a loud noise wakened him.

Mr. Shapiro was dusting the ceiling with a broom. Sammy's mother explained that each spring, when the Shapiro family cleaned for Passover, the Spiders made a new web. As his mother told him how to spin a web, Sammy was distracted by the squares on the table below.

"That's called matzah." Mrs. Spider explained that the Shapiros would eat it at their special meal, called a seder, which also featured a big platter with a roasted egg, bone, parsley, charoset and bitter herbs to help them celebrate. Sammy watched Mr. Shapiro hide the afikomen. After the meal, his son Josh would have try to find it to earn a prize.

Sammy was simply not interested in making a web. He listened to Josh ask the Four Questions--why was this night different from all other nights? When Josh hunted for the Afikomen, he also found a special present from Sammy Spider. But that's a secret also hidden--between the covers of this cute book.

This book is a special Pessach delight for the three-and-under set. Alyssa A. Lappen

5-0 out of 5 stars Sammy lives in a home that really exists!
This is absolutely the most wonderful book for introducing children to the holiday. I have read it to and with first and second-grade children for years as a teacher. The children are so enchanted and just LOVE chiming in after they "get" the pattern. They "incidentally" learn their ordinal numbers (first, second, third) as part of the fun. They just love Sammy and his mother and totally relate to his wishes for a dreidl! Then they are soooo happy that he gets his wish. A really heart-warming and beautifully illustrated story.

I bought this book at Strawberry Banke in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. They have recreated a colonial village with actual homes that existed long ago. The Shapiro house is there! The Shapiro's were among the first Jewish settlers in America. When you visit Strawberry Banke, there are actors/guides in the homes, so we got to tour the home and speak with "Mrs. Shapiro" as she cooked her family's dinner. Though we searched and searched for Sammy, my daughter and I decided that he must have been hiding that day.

Sammy Spider and his mother live on the ceiling of the Shapiro family's house. On the first night of Hanukkah, the Shapiros light one candle in the menorah and their son Josh is given a dreidel to spin.Sammy likes to warm his cold feet by the candles. He also enjoys watching the dreidel spin and asks his mother for one of his own.His mother tells him that spiders spin webs, not dreidels. Each consecutive night an additional candle is lit and Josh is given a different colored dreidel.Sammy keeps asking his mother for a dreidel but gets the same response. At the end of Hanukkah, Sammy is sad because he still has no dreidel of his own.His mother presents him with a clever gift - eight different colored socks (the same colors as the dreidels Josh received) each with a little dreidel spun on the end.

Nicholas had no trouble recognizing the colors (except rose because it appeared to be the same color as brown) and liked seeing the names of the colors so he could learn how to spell them.He thought it was funny that Sammy could wear eight socks that were all different colors and was happy his feet would not be cold anymore. He was also happy that Sammy finally got the dreidel that he wanted. He was not thrilled with the illustrations of the Shapiro family's faces.(They were a little abstract).

"Sammy Spider's First Hanukkah" is a good source for teaching young children about colors and numbers and at the same time explaining certain Jewish traditions.

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful first book about Hanukkah
This book is an ideal choice for very young children, as it portrays a fun and interesting view of Hanukkah that is very much in keeping with a small child's own perceptions of the holiday, namely, candle lighting, dreidel playing and latke eating. The story is simply told and the illustrations are colorful and reminiscent of Eric Carle's work. It is a quick reading book that my two and half year old enjoyed a great deal.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Favorite as a Child!
I have loved Miss Spider books ever since I was a child and was happy to pass it on to my daughter. She is 2 and is awestruck by the beautiful paintings and the rhythm of the words.

The controversy over Miss Spider's Wedding and Little Miss Spider only confuses me. I can see how a 30-somethings Mom finds Miss Spider's Wedding wrong, the whole 'men are evil and will hurt you'. These concepts are not understood by a toddler! What I saw as a child was that Spiderus covets Miss Spider's belongings and wants them for himself. That true love conquers all. I did not have nightmares nor did I descend into a black hazy spiral of self-destruction.

5-0 out of 5 stars calling all miss spider fans!!!
If you are even a little bit into miss spider you must have this collection!!!!It is beautiful and fun and it teaches as well, a winning combo!!!We display this book on the top of our library shelf and never get tired of reading it together!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Not recommended except for collectors of Miss Spider
My 2 year old granddaughter loves Miss Spider, and we have a couple versions of Miss Spider's Tea Party.I was very disappointed with this after I received it. I cannot give her this treasury yet, I will have to remove about 10 pages of the weird and inappropriate parts of Miss Spider's Wedding. This part deals with evil and weird adult motivations worthy of Dickens, with scary pictures, and has no place in an anthology that also includes an simple alphsbet. There is not consistent demographic age this anthology is appropriate for, so I would say for a 12 year old child that wants to collect all Miss Spider stuff, it would be OK. Not good for toddlers at all.

The second book in an exciting new fantasy series for 9-12-year-olds set in the world of Arachnia, located in the center of the earth's core, featuring a young hero and his 10-foot-tall battle spider—the basis for an action-adventure animé television series to launch in Fall 2006.

Hunter Steele never gives up—not when he was living on the surface of the earth and not now that he's fallen into the earth's core, into the realm of the Turandot, a human race locked in never-ending battle with the Insectors, a giant insect-type race. With his 10-foot-tall battle spider, Shadow the Untamed, Hunter has already proved himself worthy of joining the elite force known as the Spider Riders. Their mission: to restore the stolen shards of the Oracle, source of their society's power and protection.
BR>But five of the shards are still in the possession of Mantid, a cruel and merciless mastermind. Far from the safety of their plateau city, the Spider Riders must defeat Mantid's allies—Fungus Brain, whose powers of telepathy are greater than their own, and Aqune, a traitorous former Spider Rider who has created her own fearsome force of Mecha-Spiders. Only then can Hunter Steele undertake the final, most dangerous mission alone—to penetrate the heart of Mantid's mighty fortress and prove himself a full-fledged Spider Rider.

The Spider Riders book series is the basis of a children's action-adventure animé TV series currently in production and scheduled to launch in Fall 2006. Produced by Cookie Jar Entertainment, Inc., a leading family entertainment company with properties ranging from Arthur to Caillou and The Doodlebops to Are You Afraid of the Dark? and Dark Oracle, Spider Riders is destined to become as popular as Yu-Gi-Oh! and its predecessors Pokémon and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Daughter Loves Miss Spider
Our first Miss Spider book was Miss Spider's Tea Party, and my 1 1/2 year old daughter loved it.When she turned 2 I decided to purchase another book from the serie, and chose this one, so we could practice the alphabet. However, what turned out to be her favorite page is the very last one..."Shhhhh...Suprise, Happy Birthday Miss Spider."She screams the phrase out (right before bedtime), and then we sing Happy Birthday to Miss Spider. Not only does she know her ABC's but now she also knows and signs Happy Birthday to everyone, and everything.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good for older kids
This book doesn't really hold my 3 year old's attention. The pictures are beautiful, but is more appropriate for slightly older kids

1-0 out of 5 stars missing letter "G"
This book is beautiful and inventive as everyone says, but ours is missing the letter "g."How does that happen? The facing pages have earthworms entertaining fireflies as they fandango, then on to hummingbirds hiding inside irises.Where's the g? If we got a bad book, how does that work? All of the other letters are there. It seems like there'd be another missing letter to balance things out.Nope.Just "g."

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing Book- Your Child Will Love It!
This book is amazing! It is absolutely beautiful. The pages and drawings are breathtaking. My 2 year old son (just turned two) loves it and asks us to read it again and again.

I think the letters are perfectly easy to read and he now knows most of his alphabet. He knew several letters before but after having this book for only a week, he has learned almost all his letters and can call them by name.

He loves the "Shhhh" part at the end, in anticipation for the "Suprise- Happy Birthday!" All the different bugs keep his interest as well.

The book is written in a style that sounds so lyrical and flows beautifully. I would completely recommend this book for preschool learning and for simple enjoyment of hearing a nice story. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Good, but could be better :)
I read the first book of Mr. Adam Troy-Castro's "Revenge of the Sinister Six" bya friend's suggestion. I liked it. I read this one on my own.
It does have some positives. I like how the author breaks down the day into times building suspense like he did with the Day of Terror. I also saw some of Spidey's humor.

While I do like this story, there were some things that detracted from it. Despite what I read about it being for children 7 and up, there were a lot of h*lls, da**, G*d in the first, less in the second, but they were still there.

True, it's aimed towards teens, not sure why another would say it's ok for 7 year olds. Anyhow, I find that just because you are a city cop, and a member of S.H.E.I.L.D doesn't mean it's an excuse to say that all the time. I find it's cliched.

Another thing that detracts is, while I enjoy the Sinister Six team, seeing several 'new' or unheard of characters just show up in a few paragrahs, takes a lot to remember who they are and who they work for.

In addition to, this I see alot of paragraphs of 'tell and show' of Spidey's powers, and what a villain is like. I had to admit I skipped over a few pages of this.

Lastly, the ending with another character was just too random. Sure it was a surprise, but it seemed like any character from any universe was jumping in.
I do however like the ending with the Gentlemen and what happens to him.

4-0 out of 5 stars Super Reader
Gentleman, not.

At least if you want to have the Sinister Six working for you, anyway.

Castro has put together a pretty decent Spider-Man yarn here, from explaining the facts of lameness to a new bad-guy calling himself Disk Jockey who apparently is so oblivious, while living in Marvel New York, that he has no idea what superheroes or supervillains are.

Neither Spider-Man or the retired newsagent he has to help out from this doofus can believe it.

There are more serious problems though than the aforementioned character, not to mention the Sinister Six, a new member of whom may be linked to Spidey's past, or even related to him.

Luckily getting away with their confrontation this time, the webslinger has a little help in the form of the raygun wielding SAFE agents.

A few bits and pieces scattered throughout, some homages to other writers with 'an Oltion generator', an Askegren, etc., and a truly bizarre cameo in Wold-Newton style at the end.

Oh,and Wolverine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Delightfully Cheesy
This is a terrific book- it doesn't take itself too seriously, there are some interesting details provided about Spiderman'sdouble life and it ends the series nicely, while leaving room for future superhero adventures of course. Villains get what they deserve and characters who really, desperately needed a happy ending get it. I have to disagree with other reviewers- the ending was as fun and satisfying as the rest of the book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not bad at all....!
I was pleasantly surprised at how entertaining this book actually is! While somewhat put off by the rather cheesy cover-art, I took a chance and was well rewarded.

This book has excellent character development, well-written and interesting battle-scenes and everyone's very much "in character". Gustav Fiers is a villain of such moral emptiness, so vilely unlikable and so hateful that regular Spidey villains such as Dr. Octopus and Electro almost come off as the guys next door by comparison. The books' main flaw was that after all was said and done, an ending of such unbelievable tackiness and cheesiness was pasted on as to almost defy rationality. It's really bad, folks. Really, really BAD.

That said, I hope we see more about the Spider-Man mythos from this author. I'd recommend this to anyone the least bit interested in or familar with the Marvel universe.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Spidey book yet
Mr. Troy-Castro has bested himself in this book.I loved the way he portrayed both Electro and Mysterio, Mysterio especially, with his illness and him being so defensive about it.But the only thing I din not like about this book is that Spidey doesn't get ... beat enough!(Come on, the bad guy should be able to get some glory once in a while!) ... Product Description
At a nature center in a not-very-big city, several kinds of insects spend all day- every day- keeping to themselves. Then along comes a spider named Foursome- a golfing spider who has been transplanted from the 18th green of a nearby golf course- and the other insects soon learn what humans have known for a long time: the game of golf is about courtesy to others, and it's a wonderful way to go places and make new and different friends.Join the ants, fireflies, dragonflies, and grasshopper "the caddie" for a ground-eye-view of a round of golf with an 8-legged golfer."Foursome the Spider" makes a great gift for kids whose parents and grandparents love to play golf. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Living with a spider
Another cute book for the younger children.Children love books in which insects are given human likenesses. In a childs mind this book could very well be true.Foursom is like any child of a young age.

5-0 out of 5 stars Learning friendship and acceptance
This book had my two children (ages 6 and 8) bouncing up and down and giggling as I read it to them. They loved the story of Foursome's golfing adventures and crowded to see the colorful artwork, especially the spider's whimsical argyle pattern! After the book was over, we had a good discussion on getting along with people, making new friends, and trying new things.

Foursome the Spider shows Children & Adults in Colorful & Creative Simplicity that "We all benefit by getting along together" (a knowledgeable trait we adults like to teach our children but not always follow).
Also highlighted in this book is a non-violent sport that is challenging as well as rewarding.
For no matter how bad your game or day is, the game of golf is played in a relaxing, picturesque & tranquil environment.
Hopefully one day my children will generate interest in the game of golf from this book and who knows, maybe become the next Tiger Woods? TJN ... Read more

Could the orphaned beetle Asparagus be the little brother Little Miss Spider has wished so hard for?Amazon.com Review
It's Christmas Eve and Miss Spider should be feeling full of cheer. But even in her cozy home, among wrapped gifts and the brightly decorated tree, there's something missing. It isn't until Miss Spider finds a friend with whom to share the joy of the season that her one Christmas wish comes true.

David Kirk's much-loved Little Miss Spider (Little Miss Spider, Little Miss Spider at Sunnypatch School, etc.) continues to warm the hearts of her fans in this touching, jolly holiday tale. Young readers will enjoy the image of Miss Spider and her new friend Asparagus Beetle making "snow butterflies" (like our snow angels, but made with lots more legs) and dashing through snow tunnels "mined by the mice." Kirk's startling and shiny illustrations complement his singsong verses to present this tender Christmas message of compassion and friendship. (Ages 4 to 7) --Emilie Coulter ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Favorite Christmas book
I just love reading the book to my kids at Christmas. It has such beautiful illustrations and the poetic rhyme is great. All of my kids from 3 yrs. to almost 7 yrs. old love it year after year.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Art, Cute Rhyme, Nice Story - a review of "Little Miss Spider A Christmas Wish"
This is a cute rhyming book about Little Miss Spider, her mother (Bettie Beetle), and her friend Asparagus Beetle. The story is essentially one about how much more important people are than things. It is heartwarming and Holiday appropriate.

I have to say though, that I was a bit puzzled about what was going on until I read the front flyleaf. The flyleaf provided a great deal of information about what the story was about. It explains something of Miss Spider's own adoption, and how she is missing all of her friends who are hibernating.I highly recommend you take a moment to read it with your child -at least once - before going on to the rest of the text.

The Accelerated Reading designation for this book is 3.1 which means that it is suggested for children in the first month of Third Grade. Having said that I would note that my own children had a bit of a problem with the font because it is stylized (i.e. fancy).

Vocabulary includes: boughs, beneath, Asparagus, gargoyles, frighten, cushion, and sheltering.

Four Stars.[B-] ::::The artwork is typical of Miss Spider.Color is vivid and covers the entire page.Good Read-aloud.I liked the pro-family, pro-adoption attitudes, and the fact that the vocabulary isn't babyish. The AR designation for this book is 3.1.

5-0 out of 5 stars Like all books in the Miss Spider series, this is positively adorable.
After we discovered my daugter's love for the original "Little Miss Spider", we endeavored to collect the entire series. Like the others, this one did not disappoint.

The story follows much the same formula as Kirk's other Little Miss Spider books - one that works well for these tales. Miss Spider on a quest, encounters conflict, conflict resolves in a lesson of sorts.

This is a lovely, warm little Christmas story and an enjoyable and fun read with its well-constructed rhymes, vivid colors, and endearing characters. And the hardcover version has those wonderful, durable glossy pages that hold up even to a toddler's not-so-careful page-turning techniques!

Absolutely recommended for all young readers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the Christmas Season
In "Little Miss Spider: A Christmas Wish," Little Miss Spider finds herself without anyone to play with on Christmas Eve. She's really hoping for a new friend and so she sets out on the winter day. At first, she doesn't meet anyone, but then she comes upon Asparagus Beetle. Asparagus proves to be a great new friend, but it turns out there's something he needs too --- and Little Miss Spider is just the one to help.

This book is written in the classic "Miss Spider" rhyming style by David Kirk. The young version of Miss Spider is very cute. The illustrations alternate between full page and text pages with a small illustration.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Attention getting rhythm and color
My 16 month old and I go to the library and get books quite often. When I read this book to her she loved it. It is hard to tell who loved it more though, my daughter or me. The colors are vibrant and the rhyme has a nice rhythm. I did not mind reading it several times a day. ... Read more

The neighborhood isn't so friendly anymore.Spider-Man has been operating in New York City for years; shunned or reviled, he has touched most of its eight million citizens. And each of them has a story.

It's an entirely different way at looking at Spider-Man, the way he operates and the world he lives in.Each story is by a different set of today's top comics creators, starting with "The Thousand," which introduces a new threat to Spider-Man courtesy of Garth Ennis (Punisher, Preacher, Hitman) and John McCrea (Hitman, Jenny Sparks, Hulk Smash!).What's it like to work for the Kingpin? It's answered in "Severance Package" from crime novelist Greg Rucka (Shooting at Midnight, Black Widow) and Edward Risso (100 Bullets)."Flowers for Rhino" is an offbeat look at one of Spider-Man's oldest foes, from Peter Milligan (X-Force, Shade the Changing Man) and Duncan Fegredo (Jay and Silent Bob). ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Spidey through the eyes of his supporting cast!
I've read a lot of Spiderman stories. These are pretty good. A set of 3 tales told outside of Spidey's point of view.

3 stories... pretty great, but nothing spectacular! The Thousand is one of the better ones and I got a kick out of Rhinoplasty. Good stuff. Buy if you like Spiderman!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Spider-Man stories, even better than expected
From the reviews, I was expecting to dislike the Garth Ennis contribution to this volume. I love Ennis's writing, but also know that he seems to despise super-heroes. (He's superb on titles like The Punisher and Hellblazer). However, I found his 3-part story in Tangled Web to be highly entertaining as well as (of course) superbly written. At first glance, I didn't especially like John McCrea's pencils, but soon found that they worked just fine for this story. I wish we had seen more of his villain, "The Thousand" in the regular Spider-Man titles.

For the second story, "Severance Package", by Rucka and Risso, I was initially a bit worried because I'm rather tired of the Kingpin. However, the story wasn't really about him. It was a tightly written story in which Spider-Man doesn't even appear. Risso's art was as nicely rendered as in the classic 100 Bullets series, while Rucka did a fine job examining the implications of the failure of one of Kingpin's lieutenants. I actually felt sorry for the criminal fall guy.

The two-part "Rhinoplasty" by Peter Milligan and Duncan Fergredo was an enjoyable play on the classic SF story "Flowers for Algernon". The Rhino has always struck me as a particularly boring character, but here he works beautifully. A surprisingly standout Spider-Man collection.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great, except for the first story
I would have given this book at least four stars if it didn't include Garth Ennis's three-part story The Thousand. It introduced a really silly villain who was supposed to bully Peter Parker as a kid. I hate it when characters who are supposedly part of the backstory come out of nowhere and I hate it even more when they are just silly. He had no motivation for wanting to kill Spiderman and take his place. The plot was just lame, which is a shame because Garth Ennis is one of the greatest comic writers ever. Having said that, John McCrea's art is brilliant! He uses a different style that I have never seen him use before. It relies less on shading and more on simple linework and colouring effects.
Thankfully, it gets much better from here on. Greg Rucka of Detective Comics fame offers the best story of the collection with the simple yet effective Kingpin story Severence package. Its offers an interesting insight into the way the Kingpin runs his organisation and has one of the best portrayals of the character ever.
Flowers for Rhino, based on the brilliant short story Flowers for Algernon, is one of the few instances that the Rhino is portrayed as a character you can feel for. Its a love story, believe it or not, in which the Rhino gains intelligence.
This book collects the first few stories from Marvel's Tangled Web series, which is one of the best Spider-man books in a long time. The still going on and the stories are still excellent so you might want to search for individual issues if they are not reprinted in trade paperback form.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great creators bring a fresh look at Spider-Man's world
Marvel Comics have been resurrecting the sales and popularity of their flagship character, Spider-Man, in the past year. It seems so obvious, but a big part of the character's resurgence has been due to the quality of writers and artists employed on the various monthly books. Tangled Web falls outside the "ongoing continuity" of the two main "core" titles, Amazing Spider-Man and Peter Parker, telling self-contained stories that focus on Spider-Man's world, as opposed to the lead character himself. The first volume of Tangled Web stories make up this book and within the pages you'll find the single best comic book produced this year. That story is the one-issue "Severance Package", a tale of the New York underworld. The Kingpin of Crime summons one of his hitmen, who has failed to carry out an order due to Spider-Man's interference. This story is the essence of Tangled Web: the people on the edges of the Spider-Man story, some never seen before, others (such as the Rhino, featured in the third story in this collection) who have been, at best, second-rate supporting characters, but in these stories become interesting characters in their own right. Fans of crime fiction should buy this book - it ranks alongside other current gritty mainstream comics such as Powers and 100 Bullets. ... Read more

"'Will you walk into my parlor,'
said the Spider to the Fly..."

is easily one of the most recognized and quoted first lines in all of English verse. But do you have any idea how the age-old tale of the Spider and the Fly ends? Join celebrated artist Tony DiTerlizzi as he -- drawing inspiration from one of his loves, the classic Hollywood horror movies of the 1920s and 1930s -- shines a cinematic spotlight on Mary Howitt's warning, written to her own children about those who use sweet words to hide their not-so-sweet intentions. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Classic poem!
This is a picture book of the classic poem by Mary Howitt. (And it's in the public domain, so if you're curious about the content of this book you can google for it.)

Fair warning to people with very young or sensitive children: This IS the poem that starts off "Will you come into my parlor..." and it ends exactly the way you'd expect a meeting between a spider and a fly to end. If you think you'll have a problem with this, please hit the back button NOW and find another book more suited for you and your child. Some children simply don't like this sort of thing, it *is* a little scary and intense, it *does* end with the fly's death, and you know your child best.

For the rest of us, this is a great cautionary tale illustrated in the style of silent movies from the 20s, down to the clothes the buggies are wearing. The book is carefully, creepily sinister without being graphic, and there's a moral lesson here: If you already know somebody wishes you harm, don't listen when they start to flatter you! Heck, even if you're not sure, use your head!

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't Flatter Me
I am all for tradition refreshed... or an eclectic mix of styles. I loved Two Gentlemen from Verona set in the twenties, and now I'm fully convinced that the silent film era works wonderfully for morality tales as well. At least when attempted by Tony DiTerlizzi.

The story is a classic, the illustrations are mesmerizing and memorable. I suppose if you want your children to remember a lesson, this creatively creepy tale should do the trick.

5-0 out of 5 stars Family Favorite!
We absolutely love this book! The images are charming and whimsical.True eye candy. My 3 year old son asks for the "Spider Book" almost every night - and I still haven't gotten tired of reading the poem :o)

5-0 out of 5 stars The Spider and the Fly is Among Our Favorites
Based on the classic poem, The Spider and the Fly, by Mark Howitt, this book comes to life with the impressive and outstanding artwork of Tony DiTerlizzi. The artwork is black and white with riviting details (layered for "ghosts") that captivate and tell a story on their own.

Hands down, The Spider and the Fly is one of the most requested books for reading at our house and there have been many occassions where I have walked in to discover my three and five year old sprawled out on the floor, mesmerized by the artwork, enjoying the story as they tell it!

This book is one to keep on the coffee table. It is intriguing and reminescent of elementary school days where the world was magical. Be inspired again with this book! ... Read more
