I have purchased several "used books" from Amazon and never been dissapointed.I was not pleased with this purchase.The book had been more than "gentley Used".I would definitely think twice before ordering from this supplier.

Worth its weight in reduced plumbing bills
Friday night, after our condominium's maintenance service had closed for the weekend, my garbage disposal stopped working. My sink was full ofgarbage. There, in several brilliantly clear paragraphs, Geneand Katie Hamilton told me exactly how to fix my machine using a littlegadget that came with the machine that I would never have known had apurpose -- without electrocuting myself or cutting off my fingers. i have done quite a few of basic projects in this book.
the processes are extremely well illustrated and leave me confident in what I have learned to tackle a given project.

I only gave 4 of 5 as i have not used the entire book yet.

Very helpful book
I converted my 1950 home to copper pipe from iron with the help of this book. At the same time I added 2 new 3/4 bathrooms and switched drain pupe from cast iron to PVC.Big Project.

I was able to learn enough to run all the copper through the rooms and hire a more experienced plumber to help with the actual "cut-over", which the two of us did in one afternoon.

If you are a hands-on type and want to save some money on your next plumbing project, this book is a great reference.There are a lot of rules to follow for plumbing and this book explains them fairly well.Only reason not a 5* was I though the section on drains, traps and vents was still confusing.

I passed all of my inspections and love my new mega water pressure!!!!

Real Alaskan Livin' is Real Great Readin'
I bought this book on a splurg for something different. It sounded interesting, and sure enough I wasn't disappointed. This book is one of the best books I have read in a long time. Informative, insightful, humorous, this book has it all. With ever page turn I feel like I could make it in Alaska too... if I weren't such a nature wimp. You have to be a strong, brave, and nature loving kind of person to survive in Alaska. Not to mention creative for those long winters.
This book is highly reccomended for anyone planning a trip to Alaska, or anyone who's just looking for a good read. ^_^

Helpful and entertaining
Our family will be relocating to Alaska in a few months, so naturally I have been trying to find out more information about what the locals are like, what to expect, etc...

This book was leg-slapping funny but it was also quite informative; I was excited to find out about several parks to visit, fairs to attend, races to participate in and food to try.

I was moving to Alaska for 6 months and this was by far one of the most helpful books I read. Moving from New York city, the book help give a glimpse into what life had in store for me in Alaska. While I did not have to fight off any moose, I did buy a pair of extratuffs.It had some interesting information as well as giving a clear picture on some of the quirkier aspects of Alaskan living, has some good tips and cute anecdotes.
