5-0 out of 5 stars GLAD TO HAVE IT NOW, WISH I HAD IT BACK THEN
I wish I had this book in medical school.Any medical student will tell you that pharmacology is not a difficult subject per se, but is overwhelmingly crammed with mountains of medications, receptor profiles, side effects, pharamcokinetic and dynamic information, drug classes, and so much more that it overwhelms me just to think about it!

This book is designed in the way your brain works as it learns this kind of material. It is organized in a way that creates a template in your head and lays out the material in such a way that you can recall the page and read off the information when you come across the arcane and detailed minutia on your exam.

I did well in the course but when I look back at the notes I made they're in the same format as the book, and buying the book will save you countless hours which you can put to good use learning the information in this book.Diagrams, charts, tables abound, as does the core of the subject itself.

I still use this book today to refer to as an attending when teaching medical students the fundamentals of pharmacology and they couldn't be happier!

Don't miss this book!Truly! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book For MA's with lots of info!
I received this book very shortly after I ordered it.It is in excellent condition.I have not finished reading and studying it; although I think it is the best book at Amazon for the Medical Assistant to have while in school and after on the job.

Thanks, worth the price.

4-0 out of 5 stars Informative book
This is an excellent book on the subject of pharmacology. The only thing that irks me is that the answers to the review problems and questions are not in the back of the book. There is a website where one can go to get the answers, but I find this to be too time consuming.

5-0 out of 5 stars It worked for me!
While this book was not helpful for another reviewer, it saved my butt on the NCLEX-PN.It's a quick o-view of each classification, common drugs and their actions. No, it won't teach you pharmacology - that's what class was for.But it's an excellent, simplified review for the NCLEX.The questions on the included CD were almost word for word the same questions, I got on the NCLEX.While I only had the minimum questions on the NCLEX (85), at least a dozen were drug-related.And I passed :-)I've recommended this study guide as an adjunct to any other NCLEX review CD to all my classmates and other students. It's the only NCLEX review book I kept after passing the NCLEX because it's a quick reference guide.

1-0 out of 5 stars pharmacology made easy for NCLEX-PN
I found this publication very unhelpful.I was trying to find something that would give me a list of drugs to know for the test, their action, side effects, nursing precautions.Like a nursing drug handbok, but narrowed down to only drugs necessary for the PN test. This book has a review of drug classifications and what they are used for, and then goes on to practice questions about specific drugs, which are not reviewed.I am familiar with classifications, but have a hard time remembering all the drug names and side effects. This book did not help me with that info and was a waste of my money. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Good book.
This book was needed for my Pharm and Tox class. It was a pretty good book it explained this quite well. The images and metaphors were really good. I recommend this book for people who need to lean this subject.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book
This book is required material for some classes in veterinary technology at Purdue University, and with good reason.Pharmacology can be a rather tedious subject, but Dr. Bill's book explains both the normal physiology as well as the mechanisms of drug activity in a well-organized, easily understood way.The book is divided into chapters dealing with different systems of the body (i.e. drugs affecting the respiratory system), and each chapter ends with a list of the drugs mentioned in their different categories, as well as a self-assessment to test how well you understood the drugs and the basic processes.Excellent textbook/student resource!I can now look forward to learning pharmacology with excitement instead of trepidation! ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Poor Book, Not Enough Meat in It
I used this book in PA school and quite frankly its worthless. I would recommend a pharm book that is much more meaty for your material or you will find your self in trouble when it comes time to the boards especially if you have a poor pharmacology professor to boot.....

Save your money and search for a more useful text.......

1-0 out of 5 stars Only an overview
This book seems to be used by mid-level practitioner courses fairly often. This is both its strength and weakness. If you are getting a 101 overview, this book is effective, but for an actual introduction into the compare/contrast of the drugs and when to apply them, I found this book worthless. I would agree and reference another reviewer's comment that the Lippencot pharm texts are better. A better introductory book is by Olson and if you can get away with Not buying this, spend the money on a pharm book that helps with clinicals.

A nice improvement would be to thoroughly weave in the tradenames next to generics, or at a minimum an appendix covering this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Really great pharmacology book
This is probably one of the best pharmacology books I've had, next to the ones published by Lippencott. It's an easy read and pretty straight forward. This is the only book that our professor will use, and we are just covering basics right now, but I think the way they classify drugs are really helpful. It's not too dense to read considering the density of the material

5-0 out of 5 stars great
I pre-ordered the book through Amazon. I was the first in the class to have the book. I would suggest pre-ordering whenever possible.!! ... Read more
